Claims (14)
- 서로 교차하도록 배열된 복수의 게이트 신호선 및 복수의 소스 신호선과, 상기 복수의 게이트 신호선 및 복수의 소스 신호선의 교차점에 대응하여 각각 설치된 EL 소자를 갖는 화소를 갖는 표시 화면을 구비한 액티브 매트릭스형 EL 표시 장치로서,상기 화소마다 형성되고, 상기 EL 소자에 흘리는 전류를 공급하는 구동용 트랜지스터와,상기 화소마다 형성되고, 상기 EL 소자의 전류 경로에 배치된 제1 스위칭 소자와,상기 제1 스위칭 소자를 제어하는 게이트 드라이버 회로를 포함하고,상기 제1 스위칭 소자의 게이트 단자에는 게이트 신호선이 접속되고,상기 게이트 드라이버 회로는, 1 프레임 기간에서, 상기 게이트 신호선에 접속된 상기 각각의 제1 스위칭 소자를 온 및 오프 시킴으로써, 상기 표시 화면에 띠 형상의 화상 표시 영역을 표시하고,상기 게이트 드라이버 회로는, 상기 1 프레임 기간에서, 상기 제1 스위칭 소자를 온 시키는 상기 게이트 신호선을 순차 선택하고,상기 EL 표시 장치에 입력되는 화상 데이터에 의해, 상기 띠 형상의 화상 표시 영역의 분할수를 변화시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 각각의 화소에 컨덴서가 형성되고,상기 컨덴서는 제1 전극과 상기 구동용 트랜지스터의 게이트 단자 간에 배치되고,상기 EL 소자의 애노드 단자 또는 캐소드 단자는 상기 제1 전극과 상이한 제2 전극에 접속되고,상기 제2 전극에 접속되지 않은 상기 EL 소자의 단자는, 상기 제1 스위칭 소자의 드레인 단자 또는 소스 단자에 접속되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 1 프레임 기간에, 상기 제1 스위칭 소자를 오프 시키는 기간을 가변함으로써, 상기 표시 화면의 휘도를 가변하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 소스 신호선의 전하를 강제적으로 방출 또는 충전하는 프리차지 혹은 방전 회로를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,외광의 밝기를 검출하는 수단을 더 포함하고,상기 게이트 드라이버 회로는, 상기 1 프레임 기간에서, 상기 포토 센서에 의해 검출한 데이터에 기초하여, 상기 제1 스위칭 소자를 온 시키는 상기 게이트 신호선 수를 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,출력 절환 회로와,상기 구동용 트랜지스터에 인가하는 영상 신호를 출력하는 소스 드라이버 IC를 더 포함하고,상기 출력 절환 회로는 상기 구동용 트랜지스터가 형성된 기판에 형성되고,상기 소스 드라이버 IC는 상기 기판에 실장되고,상기 소스 드라이버 IC는 영상 출력 단자로부터 상기 영상 신호를 출력하고,상기 출력 절환 회로는 1개의 신호 입력 단자와, 적어도 제1 신호 출력 단자와 제2 신호 출력 단자를 갖고,상기 출력 절환 회로의 신호 입력 단자는 상기 소스 드라이버 IC의 영상 출력 단자와 접속되고,상기 제1 신호 출력 단자는 상기 제1 소스 신호선과 접속되고,상기 제2 신호 출력 단자는 상기 제2 소스 신호선과 접속되고,상기 제1 소스 신호선에는 제1 색의 화소가 접속되어 있고,상기 제2 소스 신호선에는 제2 색의 화소가 접속되어 있고,상기 출력 절환 회로는 상기 소스 드라이버 IC가 출력하는 영상 신호의 출력 타이밍과 동기되고,상기 출력 절환 회로는, 상기 소스 드라이버 IC가 제1 색에 대응하는 영상 신호를 출력할 때에, 상기 신호 입력 단자와 상기 제1 신호 출력 단자를 전기적으로 접속하여, 상기 영상 신호를 상기 제1 소스 신호선에 인가하고,상기 출력 절환 회로는, 상기 소스 드라이버 IC가 제2 색에 대응하는 영상 신호를 출력할 때에, 상기 신호 입력 단자와 상기 제2 신호 출력 단자를 전기적으로 접속하여, 상기 영상 신호를 상기 제2 소스 신호선에 인가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 표시 화면에는 적어도 제1 색의 화소와 제2 색의 화소가 매트릭스 형상으로 배치되어 있고,상기 제1 색의 화소와 상기 제2 색의 화소는 화소 사이즈가 서로 다른 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 표시 화면에는 적색의 화소, 녹색의 화소, 청색의 화소, 백색의 화소가 매트릭스 형상으로 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 구동용 트랜지스터에 인가하는 영상 신호를 출력하는 소스 드라이버 IC를 더 포함하고,상기 소스 드라이버 IC는 상기 구동용 트랜지스터가 형성된 기판에 실장되고,상기 소스 드라이버 IC의 이면 위치이고, 또한 상기 기판 상에, 상기 EL 소자의 애노드 전압을 공급하는 배선이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 화소에 인가하는 캐소드 전압 또는 애노드 전압을 가변 가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 구동용 트랜지스터 및 상기 제1 스위칭 소자는, P 채널 트랜지스터이고,상기 제1 스위칭 소자의 오프 전압을 Vgh(V) 라고 하고,상기 화소에 인가하는 애노드 전압을 Vdd(V) 라고 할 때,Vdd + 0.5(V) < Vgh < Vdd + 2.5(V)의 관계를 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,표시 화면의 모든 게이트 신호선에 오프 전압을 인가하는 OEV 신호선을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 구동용 트랜지스트의 게이트 단자와 소스 단자 간 혹은 게이트 단자와 드레인 단자 간을 단락하는 제2 스위칭 소자를 더 포함하고,상기 제2 스위칭 소자는 복수의 트랜지스터로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 게이트 드라이버 회로는 구동용 트랜지스터와 동일 프로세스에서 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 EL 표시 장치.
