Description

整合觸控螢幕

以下描述包括整合觸控螢幕之實例,該等整合觸控螢幕包括:由一薄膜電晶體(TFT)層之分群在一起之電路元件形成的驅動線;及形成於一彩色濾光片層與一材料層之間的感測線,該材料層修改或產生光。在一些實例中,該觸控螢幕可為一共平面切換型(IPS)液晶顯示器(LCD)、邊緣場切換型(FFS)液晶顯示器、進階邊緣場切換型(AFFS)液晶顯示器等。TFT層中之共同電極(Vcom)在一觸摸感測操作期間可分群在一起以形成驅動線。感測線可形成於一彩色濾光片玻璃之下側上,且一液晶區可安置於該彩色濾光片玻璃與該TFT層之間。舉例而言,將該等感測線置放於該彩色濾光片玻璃之下側上(亦即,顯示像素單元內)可提供允許在該等像素單元已經組裝之後薄化該彩色濾光片玻璃的益處。
在將影像顯示於觸控螢幕上之顯示操作期間,Vcom可(例如)藉由帶有共同電壓以結合像素電極上之像素電壓產生跨越液晶的電場來充當顯示電路之部分。在觸摸感測操作期間,可將激勵信號施加至形成驅動線之Vcom群組。基於激勵信號之感測信號可由在彩色濾光片玻璃之下側上的感測線接收,且由觸摸處理器處理以判定在觸控螢幕上之觸摸的量及位置。
圖1A至圖1C展示可實施根據本發明之實施例之觸控螢幕的實例系統。圖1A說明包括觸控螢幕124之實例行動電話136。圖1B說明包括觸控螢幕126之實例數位媒體播放器140。圖1C說明包括觸控螢幕128之實例個人電腦144。觸控螢幕124、126及128可基於互電容。基於互電容之觸控系統可包括(例如)驅動區及感測區,諸如驅動線及感 測線。舉例而言,驅動線可形成為列,而感測線可形成為行(例如,正交)。觸控像素可形成於列與行之交叉點處。在操作期間,可藉由AC波形來激勵該等列,且互電容可形成於觸控像素之列與行之間。 隨著物件逼近觸控像素,耦合於觸控像素之列與行之間的一些電荷可改為耦合至物件上。跨越觸控像素之電荷耦合之此減小可導致列與行之間的互電容之淨減少(net decrease)及跨越觸控像素而耦合之AC波形的減小。觸摸感測系統可偵測並量測經電荷耦合之AC波形之此減小以判定多個物件觸摸觸控螢幕時該等物件的位置。在一些實施例中,觸控螢幕可為多點觸控、單點觸控、投影掃描、全成像多點觸控、電容性觸控螢幕等。
圖2為實例計算系統200之方塊圖,其說明根據本發明之實施例之實例觸控螢幕220之一實施。計算系統200可包括於(例如)行動電話136、數位媒體播放器140、個人電腦144或包括觸控螢幕之任一行動或非行動計算器件中。計算系統200可包括一觸摸感測系統,該觸摸感測系統包括一或多個觸摸處理器202、周邊器件204、觸摸控制器206及觸摸感測電路(以下更詳細描述)。周邊器件204可包括(但不限於)隨機存取記憶體(RAM)或其他類型之記憶體或儲存器、看門狗(watchdog)計時器及其類似者。觸摸控制器206可包括(但不限於)一或多個感測通道208、通道掃描邏輯210及驅動器邏輯214。通道掃描邏輯210可存取RAM 212,自發地自感測通道讀取資料且提供針對感測通道之控制。此外,如以下更詳細描述,通道掃描邏輯210可控制驅動器邏輯214以各種頻率及相位產生激勵信號216,該等激勵信號216可選擇性地施加至觸控螢幕220之觸摸感測電路的驅動線。在一些實施例中,觸摸控制器206、觸摸處理器202及周邊器件204可整合於單一特殊應用積體電路(ASIC)中。

觸控螢幕220可包括觸摸感測電路,該觸摸感測電路可包括具有複數條驅動線222及複數條感測線223的電容性感測媒體。請注意,如熟習此項技術者將易於理解,術語「線」有時在本文中用以意謂僅導電路徑,且不限於嚴格為直線狀之元件,而是包括改變方向之路徑,且包括具有不同大小、形狀、材料等之路徑及可經電連接以形成單一導電路徑的多個導電電路元件。可經由驅動介面224a及224b藉由來自驅動器邏輯214之激勵信號216來驅動驅動線222,且可經由感測介面225將產生於感測線223中之所得感測信號217傳輸至觸摸控制器206中 的感測通道208(亦稱為事件偵測及解調變電路)。激勵信號可為交流(AC)波形。以此方式,驅動線及感測線可為觸摸感測電路的部分,其可相互作用以形成電容性感測節點,該等電容性感測節點可被看作觸控圖像元素(觸控像素),諸如觸控像素226及227。當觸控螢幕220被視為在捕獲觸摸之「影像」時,此理解方式可能尤其有用。換言之,在觸摸控制器206已判定在觸控螢幕中之每一觸控像素處偵測到之觸摸之量時,觸控螢幕中發生觸摸之處的觸控像素的圖案可被看作觸摸之「影像」(例如,觸摸觸控螢幕之手指的圖案)。

圖3說明觸控螢幕之感測線、驅動線及其他實例結構之實例實施例。圖3展示沿圖2中所展示的線「A」之觸控螢幕220之左下部分的更詳細視圖。在圖3中所展示之實例實施例中,每一感測線223包括多條導電導線301(例如,在此實例實施例中為五條導電導線)。導電導線301安置於彩色濾光片玻璃303之下側上,介於彩色濾光片玻璃與TFT玻璃之間。彩色濾光片玻璃303可包括複數個彩色濾光片305。在此實例實施例中,彩色濾光片305各自包括三種顏色,藍色(B)、綠色(G)及紅色(R)(諸如在RGB顯示器中)。每一導電導線301定位於彩色濾光片305之兩行之間。在此實例中,可加寬彩色濾光片之各行之間的間隔以容納導電導線。在所展示之實例中,每一感測線223之五條導電導線301可連接至接觸墊307,該接觸墊307導電地連接該感測線之該等導電導線且允許五條導電導線之每一群組作為單一感測線操作。接觸墊307可電連接至(例如)圖2中所展示之觸摸控制器206的感測通道208,使得由每一感測線223接收到之感測信號217可由觸摸控制器處理。
圖3亦展示TFT玻璃309,電路元件311形成於TFT玻璃309上。電 路元件311可為(例如)作為觸控螢幕之顯示電路的部分且亦作為觸控螢幕之觸摸感測電路的部分而操作之多功能電路元件。在一些實施例中,電路元件311可為僅作為觸摸感測系統之部分而操作的單功能電路元件。除電路元件311外,諸如電晶體、電容器、導電通孔、資料線、閘極線等之其他電路元件(未圖示)亦可形成於TFT玻璃309上。如熟習此項技術者將理解,形成於TFT玻璃309上之電路元件311及其他電路元件可一起操作以執行由觸控螢幕220使用之顯示技術之類型所需要的各種顯示功能性。電路元件可包括(例如)可存在於習知LCD顯示器中之元件。請注意,電路元件並不限於完整的電路組件,諸如整個電容器、整個電晶體等,而是可包括電路之部分,諸如平行板電容器之兩個板中的僅一者。
一些電路元件311可電連接在一起,使得電路元件311及其互連一起形成驅動線222。將參看圖8至圖9更詳細地論述將電路元件311連接在一起以形成驅動線222的各種實例方法。電路元件311中之位於驅動線222之間的一些可充當緩衝區313。緩衝區313之一用途可為使驅動線222彼此分離以減少或防止串擾及雜散電容效應。緩衝區313中之電路元件311可(例如)與驅動線222不連接。在各種實施例中,緩衝區313中之一些或所有電路元件311可(例如)電連接至彼此,彼此不電連接,在觸摸感測操作期間維持於固定電壓,在觸摸感測操作期間維持於浮動電位等。舉例而言,圖3中所展示之感測線223及驅動線222之實例組態可如圖2中所展示而佈置為重疊正交柵格以形成觸控像素226及227。雖然在圖3中未說明,但應理解,可提供第一偏光器及第二偏光器,第一偏光器可鄰近於TFT玻璃且第二偏光器可鄰近於彩色濾光片玻璃,使得TFT玻璃及彩色濾光片玻璃安置於第一偏光器與第二偏光器之間。

圖4說明彩色濾光片玻璃303之更詳細視圖。圖4包括彩色濾光片305、形成感測線203之導電導線301。導電導線301可為(例如)諸如鋁等之金屬線。就此而言,導電導線301可定位於黑色遮罩401後面,使得使用者看不見導電導線。因此,導電導線301不必為透明導體。然而,在一些實例實施例中,導電導線301可為透明金屬。在圖4中所展示之實例實施例中,儘管可加寬彩色濾光片305之各行之間的間距以容納導電導線301,但在一些實施例中,該間距可為不同的(包括彩色濾光片之間的相等間距)。

圖6說明展示感測線223之另一實例組態的另一實例實施例。如在圖3中所展示之實例中一樣,圖6中所展示之實例為沿圖2中所展示之線「A」的透視圖。在圖6中所展示之實例實施例中,感測線223中之每一者可包括一導電網格601。導電網格601可由(例如)形成於彩色濾光片玻璃303之下側上的金屬導線、金屬條帶等形成。導電網格601可為(例如)導電正交柵格,其導電線安置於個別彩色濾光片305之間。
由導電網格601形成之感測線223可電連接至接觸墊307,使得由感測線接收到之信號可傳輸至觸摸控制器206以供處理。類似於先前實施例,圖6中之實例實施例中所展示之觸控螢幕220的部分包括驅動線222及緩衝區313,驅動線222及緩衝區313中之每一者可由已在操作 上或實體上分群在一起以執行其各別功能的電路元件311形成。在觸摸感測操作中,施加至驅動線222之激勵信號可允許在各個觸控像素(諸如,觸控像素226及227)之區域中的感測線223感測觸摸。類似於圖3中所展示之實例實施例,圖6中所展示之實例實施例亦包括像素材料315。
圖7說明圖6之實例實施例中所展示的彩色濾光片玻璃303之更詳細視圖。圖7包括彩色濾光片305及形成感測線223之導電網格601。導電網格601可(例如)由諸如鋁等之不透明金屬線形成。就此而言,導電網格601可定位於黑色遮罩701後面,使得使用者看不見導電網格。因此,在此實施例中,導電網格601不必由透明導體製成。然而,在一些實例實施例中,導電網格601可為透明金屬。

同樣,在觸控螢幕之顯示操作期間,整合閘極驅動器1207可操作個別Vcom驅動列1203以作為顯示電路之部分來將影像顯示於觸控螢幕上。因此,在此實例實施例中,取決於觸控螢幕之操作,可按需要將個別Vcom驅動列1203分群在一起或個別操作。
圖13說明在顯示操作中且在觸摸感測操作中驅動觸控螢幕之電路元件的實例方法。舉例而言,此實例方法可應用於包括圖12之TFT玻璃1201之設計的觸控螢幕之操作。在此實例實施例中,顯示影像之顯示操作及感測觸摸之觸摸感測操作可藉由以不同方式操作觸控螢幕之不同部分而同時發生,亦即,可操作電路元件之一群組以作為顯示電路來顯示影像,而同時可操作電路元件之另一群組以作為觸摸感測電路來感測觸摸。
在第一時間週期1301中,整合閘極驅動器1270以及其他顯示電路可更新電路元件之第一群組1303(例如,顯示像素之一個別列)以在觸控螢幕上顯示一影像之一線條。舉例而言,整合閘極驅動器1207可將共同電壓施加至顯示像素之第一列中的Vcom。同時,在第一時間週期1301中,Vcom驅動器1205可將激勵信號施加至包括電路元件之第二群組1307的第一驅動線1305。施加激勵信號可包括(例如)將同一激勵信號施加至第一驅動線222中之個別Vcom驅動列1203中的每一者。因為整合閘極驅動器1207當前正在掃描之影像掃描列並不位於第一驅動線1305中,所以用於更新所顯示之影像的Vcom驅動列1203並不與作為驅動線而用於觸摸感測之Vcom驅動列1203重疊。

在圖3、圖6、圖8及圖9中,將顯示像素之每一列說明為具有針對每一顯示像素的一分離之共同電極。然而,此等共同電極(例如,圖3及圖6之電路元件311,圖8之共同電極801及圖9之共同電極901)可能不是對應於每一像素電極之實體上相異且分離的結構。在一些實施例中,跨越特定列(例如,圖9之Vcom驅動列905)電連接在一起之共同電極可由單一連續導電材料(例如,ITO)層形成。另外,單一連續導電材料(ITO)層可用於諸如圖8中之整條驅動線222,其中每一驅動線222內之所說明之共同電極沿列(第一方向)及行(垂直於第一方向之第二方向)兩個方向電連接在一起。

儘管關於顯示像素描述了各種實施例,但熟習此項技術者將理解,術語顯示像素在將顯示像素分為子像素之實施例中可與術語顯示子像素互換地使用。舉例而言,關於RGB顯示器之一些實施例可包括分為紅色、綠色及藍色子像素之顯示像素。換言之,在一些實施例中,每一子像素可為紅色(R)、綠色(G)或藍色(B)子像素,所有三種R、G或B子像素之組合形成一種顏色之顯示像素。熟習此項技術者將理解,可使用其他類型之觸控螢幕。舉例而言,在一些實施例中,子像素可基於其他光顏色或其他波長之電磁輻射(例如,紅外線),或可基於單色組態,在單色組態中,諸圖中展示為子像素之每一結構可為具有單一顏色之像素。
因此,鑒於以上內容,本發明之一些實施例係關於一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:一彩色濾光片層、包括複數條驅動線之一薄膜電晶體(TFT)層、安置於該TFT層與該彩色濾光片層之間的一液晶層,及安置於該液晶層與該彩色濾光片層之間的複 數條感測線。在其他實施例中,每一顯示像素包括該TFT層中之一電路元件,且每一驅動線包括複數個電路元件。在其他實施例中,顯示像素之每一個別列中之電路元件經由固定之導電連接件而電連接,且在一觸摸感測操作期間,將一第一激勵信號施加至該等電路元件之第一複數個個別列,且將一第二激勵信號施加至該等電路元件之第二複數個個別列。在其他實施例中,電路元件在觸控螢幕之顯示操作期間連接至顯示電路。在其他實施例中,電路元件包括共同電極。在其他實施例中,電路元件在顯示操作期間將電場施加至液晶層。在其他實施例中,觸控螢幕之感測線包括安置於彩色濾光片層上之複數條導電線。在其他實施例中,每一感測線包括安置於彩色濾光片層上之一導電網格。在其他實施例中,彩色濾光片層包括一黑色遮罩,且感測線安置於該黑色遮罩上。
本發明之其他實施例係關於一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:一彩色濾光片層;在一觸摸感測操作期間攜載激勵信號之複數條驅動線;安置於複數條驅動線與該彩色濾光片層之間的一像素材料,該像素材料包括一光修改材料及一光產生材料中的一者;顯示電路,其在一顯示操作期間控制每一顯示像素之像素材料,使得來自每一顯示像素之一受控量的光通過該彩色濾光片以形成一影像;及接收基於激勵信號之感測信號之複數條感測線,該等感測線安置於該像素材料與該彩色濾光片層之間。在其他實施例中,感測線安置於彩色濾光片層上。在其他實施例中,彩色濾光片包括複數個個別彩色濾光片,且感測線包括安置於個別彩色濾光片之間的導電材料。在其他實施例中,感測線包括不透明之導電材料。在其他實施例中,感測線包括透明之導電材料。在其他實施例中,有機塗層安置於感測線上。
本發明之其他實施例係關於一種操作包括複數個電路元件之一整 合觸控螢幕的方法,該方法包含:在一第一顯示操作中操作該等電路元件之第一群組以作為顯示電路,該第一顯示操作將一影像顯示於觸控螢幕上;及在一第一觸摸感測操作中操作該等電路元件之第二群組以作為觸摸感測電路,該第一觸摸感測操作感測在觸控螢幕上或觸控螢幕附近的一觸摸,其中在第一顯示操作中操作第一群組與在第一觸摸感測操作中操作第二群組同時發生。在其他實施例中,該方法進一步包含在一第二觸摸感測操作中操作第一群組以作為觸摸感測電路。 在其他實施例中,該方法進一步包含在一第二顯示操作中操作該等電路元件之第三群組以作為顯示電路,其中在第二顯示操作中操作第三群組與在第二觸摸感測操作中操作第一群組同時發生。在其他實施例中,第二觸摸感測操作包括與操作第一群組同時地操作該等電路元件之一或多個額外群組以作為觸摸感測電路。在其他實施例中,在第一觸摸感測操作中操作第二群組以作為觸摸感測電路包括將一激勵信號施加至第二群組。在其他實施例中,電路元件包括共同電極。在其他實施例中,第一群組包括共同電極之第一列,且在第一顯示操作中操作該等電路元件之第一群組包括將一第一共同電壓施加至共同電極之第一列。在其他實施例中,該方法進一步包含:將一第二共同電壓施加至共同電極之第二列,該第二共同電壓與該第一共同電壓之極性相反。在其他實施例中,第二群組包括共同電極之複數個列。在其他實施例中,共同電極之複數個列經由固定之導電連接件而電連接。
本發明之其他實施例係關於一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:上面安置有複數個顯示像素之一第一基板,每一顯示像素具有一像素電極及一切換元件,該切換元件用於在一顯示操作模式期間將一資料線連接至該像素電極以將一影像顯示於觸控螢幕上且用於在一觸摸感測操作模式期間使該資料線與該像素電極斷開;該複數個顯示像素,其具有共同電極,該等共同電極用於在顯示 操作模式期間接收一共同電壓且在一觸摸感測操作模式期間接收一激勵電壓;包括一彩色濾光片之一第二基板;安置於第一基板與第二基板之間的一像素材料;及複數條感測線,其在第二基板之面向第一基板的一側上直接或間接安置於第二基板上。在其他實施例中,激勵呈交流波形之形式。在其他實施例中,該複數個顯示像素沿一第一方向且沿垂直於該第一方向之一第二方向而配置,且其中複數條驅動線中之每一者係由安置於該第一方向上之共同電極的至少一群組形成;且複數條感測線沿與該第一方向交叉之該第二方向而安置;其中複數條驅動線與複數條感測線之每一交叉點形成一電容性感測節點。

Claims (12)

  1. 一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:一彩色濾光片層;一薄膜電晶體(TFT)層;位在該TFT層上之複數條驅動線,該複數條驅動線包含該複數個顯示像素之多個共同電極,且在一觸摸感測模式操作期間該複數條驅動線攜載一觸摸激勵信號;安置於該TFT層與該彩色濾光片層之間的一液晶層;及安置於液晶層與該彩色濾光片層之間的複數條感測線,且其操作以基於該等激勵信號及在該複數個驅動線與該複數個感測線之間之互電容耦合來接收多個感測信號。
  2. 如請求項1之觸控螢幕,其中該複數個顯示像素形成多個顯示像素之複數個列且每一列中之該等共同電極經由固定之導電連接件而電連接,且在該觸摸感測模式操作期間,將一第一激勵信號施加至多個顯示像素之一第一複數個列之多個共同電極,且將一第二激勵信號施加至該等顯示像素的一第二複數個列之多個共同電極。
  3. 如請求項1之觸控螢幕,其中該等共同電極在該觸控螢幕之一顯示操作期間連接至顯示電路。
  4. 如請求項1之觸控螢幕,其中每一感測線包括安置於該彩色濾光片層上之複數條導電線。
  5. 如請求項4之觸控螢幕,其中每一感測線包括安置於該彩色濾光片層上之一導電網格。
  6. 如請求項1之觸控螢幕,其中該彩色濾光片層包括一黑色遮罩,且該等感測線安置於該黑色遮罩上。
  7. 一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:一彩色濾光片層;在一觸摸感測操作期間攜載激勵信號之複數條驅動線,該複數條驅動線位在一薄膜電晶體(TFT)層上且包含該複數個顯示像素之多個共同電極;安置於該複數條驅動線與該彩色濾光片層之間的一像素材料,該像素材料包括一光修改材料及一光產生材料中的一者;顯示電路,其在一顯示操作期間控制每一顯示像素之該像素材料,使得來自每一顯示像素之一受控量的光通過該彩色濾光片以形成一影像;及接收基於該等激勵信號之感測信號之複數條感測線,該等感測線安置於該像素材料與該彩色濾光片層之間。
  8. 如請求項7之觸控螢幕,其中該等感測線安置於該彩色濾光片層上。
  9. 如請求項8之觸控螢幕,其中該彩色濾光片層包括複數個個別彩色濾光片,且該等感測線包括安置於個別彩色濾光片之間的導電材料。
  10. 一種包括複數個顯示像素之觸控螢幕,該觸控螢幕包含:上面安置有複數個顯示像素之一第一基板,每一顯示像素具有一像素電極及一切換元件,該切換元件用於在一顯示操作模式期間將一資料線連接至該像素電極以將一影像顯示於該觸控螢幕上且用於在一觸摸感測操作模式期間使該資料線與該像素電極斷開;該複數個顯示像素,其具有共同電極,該等共同電極用於在該顯示操作模式期間接收一共同電壓且在一觸摸感測操作模式期間接收一激勵電壓;包括一彩色濾光片之一第二基板;安置於該第一基板與該第二基板之間的一像素材料;及複數條感測線,其在該第二基板之面向該第一基板的一側上直接或間接安置於該第二基板上。
  11. 如請求項10之觸控螢幕,其中該激勵電壓呈一交流波形之形式。
