背景技术
市场上的几乎每一种消费产品设备都具有允许用户与该设备进行交互的某种形式的输入机构。最普遍的输入机构之一是按钮,当用户按压该按钮时,将致使设备改变与所述按钮相关联的状态。按钮可以采用多种形式,从机械按钮(例如,在TV遥控器和计算器上普遍可见的橡胶按钮)到虚拟按钮(例如,在ATM和一些手持式计算设备上普遍可见的、显示在平坦和/或刚性的触感表面上的图形用户界面输入区域)都可以。
不管采用何种形式,按钮通常都与两种状态——“按下”或“未按下”相关联。按压或选择按钮将“未按下”状态改变为“按下”状态,使得“按下”状态被激活(activated)。释放按钮将“按下”状态改回到“未按下”状态,使得“按下”状态无效。从这个意义上说,按钮允许用户对设备的输入状态进行限定。
例如,当设备处于断电状态并且用户按下电源按钮时,按钮的按压动作激活了电源按钮的“按下”状态,而“按下”状态致使设备上电。当用户释放该按钮时,按钮的释放动作使得“按下”状态不起作用,通常为无效。在另一个示例中,当用户按压汽车的喇叭(可以将喇叭看作一个巨大的按钮)时,喇叭的按压动作激活了喇叭的“按下”状态,从而致使汽车鸣笛。当用户释放喇叭时,喇叭的释放动作使得“按下”状态不起作用,从而致使汽车停止鸣笛。
在多种按钮操作的背后的机构是压力传感器。当用户按压按钮时,压力传感器检测到从用户的手指、手或其它物体施加到按钮上的压力。当传感器的输出表示压力超过阈值量(例如,用户手指的足够强的按压表示用户意图按下按钮)时,按钮的“按下”状态被激活,使得设备由于按钮被按下而采取动作。
因此,为了使按钮正确工作,正确地解释传感器输出以指出按钮已经被按下还是释放是很重要的。按钮的传感器输出的错误解释会导致误以为按钮被按压或释放,这会导致具有潜在破坏后果的不希望的动作。
实用新型内容

以这种方式,可以使用接近度检测来验证检测到的压力是否确实是由对按钮的有意按压引起的,而非由诸如温度变化或按钮卡住之类的其它作用造成的。

除了解决这些信号调整问题以外,本实用新型还教导了可以利用相同的实体传感器来在压力检测和接近度检测之间来回切换,原因在于同一传感器元件既可以用来检测电阻(表示了所施加的压力),又可以用来检测电容(表示了用户手指的接近度)。
从实施方式和成本的角度来看,使用单个传感设备来既实现压力感测又实现接近度感测是有利的。从实施方式的角度看,一个实体传感器具有两种感测能力会是有益的,因为其确保了可以对同一输入区域针对压力和接近度进行检测。从成本的角度来看,使用一个实体传感器来检测压力和接近度两者要比使用两个传感器便宜,在使用两个传感器的情况下,其中一个传感器仅用于检测压力,而另一个传感器仅用于检测接近度。

具体实施方式
本实用新型教导了与电容式接近度检测相组合来使用电阻式压力检测,以实现例如按钮。电阻式压力检测和电容式接近度检测可以通过刚性罩或壳体(包括例如玻璃)来工作。电阻式压力检测和电容式接近度检测两者都可以使用同一实体传感器元件。
电阻式压力传感器可以用于检测由用户的手指施加到设备输入区域上的压力。为了解决由于不希望的作用(例如,温度变化,按钮卡住(stuckbutton),或者甚至是用户向设备施加了压力却没有直接加在压力传感器区域中)而导致压力传感器输出发生变化的情况,电容式接近度传感器可以被用于检测用户手指与输入区域的接近度,以确认手指的按压。
温度变化和按钮卡住涉及分别被称作基线漂移(baseline drift)和迟滞现象(hysteresis)的信号调整问题。这些问题使得很难将传感器的输出信号正确地解释为清楚地表示了“按下”或“未按下”状态。
当不是用户按压按钮而是诸如温度变化之类的因素导致传感器输出了表示用户按压按钮的信号时,发生基线漂移。在这种情况下,简单地将蜂窝电话或便携式音乐播放器放置在阳光下或热的设备附近就会使传感器的输出表示按钮已经被按下。
当被按下之后按钮“卡住”或者未能完全恢复到其初始位置时,发生迟滞现象。在这种情况下,因为“卡住”的按钮仍然在对传感器施加压力,所以传感器的输出可能会错误地表示用户还在继续按压按钮。
为了更好地阐述这些问题,最好对压力传感器的工作方式进行基本描述。从基本意义上说,压力传感器通常通过检测传感器元件的电阻并输出表示所检测到的电阻水平的信号来工作。传感器元件通常包括两个接触体(contact),这些接触体被设置成在静止时彼此接近却不接触,例如如图14a和14b所示。当向接触体施加压力时,它们被推到相互更靠近,从而减小了它们之间的接触电阻。随着施加到传感器元件上的压力增大,接触体之间的电阻减小。
因此,当压力传感器检测到传感器元件的电阻降低时,该降低被解释为施加给传感器的压力。电阻降低越多,被解释为施加给传感器的压力的水平就越大。
为了检测电阻的降低,通常会设立基准电阻,并对随后相对于该基准电阻的任何电阻降低进行测量。基准电阻为静止时(即,当没有将压力有意地施加给传感器时)在传感器元件中检测得到的电阻水平。
为了从图形上说明这些问题,图1示出了当用户按压按钮和释放按钮时没有受基线漂移和迟滞现象影响的理想压力传感器的示例。
虽然压力传感器的输出表示了电阻水平,但是为了更好地展现的目的,压力传感器的输出曲线100按照电导对时间的方式来描绘传感器输出。电导是电阻的倒数(描述为1/R),使得在施加给传感器的压力增大的情况下,能够以斜率增大而不是减小的方式描绘电阻输出(反之亦然)。
在理想的情况下,曲线100表明:当用户从点140开始按压按钮时,压力传感器仅在基线130以上才提供输出。当用户在点160处从按钮释放用户手指时,输出恢复到基线130。在这种情况下,可以利用简单的阈值算法来解释按钮按压——当输出超过电阻的阈值量时,按钮被认为是按下的;当输出降到阈值量以下时,按钮被认为是松开的。
如绘图100所示,在点150处,即当手指按压的压力超过由激活阈值120描述的电阻阈值量时,按钮的“按下”状态被激活。当在点170输出降到激活阈值120以下时,按钮的“按下”状态被无效,这表示按钮已经被用户释放。在实际应用中,输出决不是这么规则的。
图2示出了受到基线漂移影响的压力传感器输出的示例。在这个示例中,用户没有按压按钮,因此传感器输出应当被认为是处处都位于基线处的。在曲线200中,诸如温度变化之类的其它因素致使输出发生漂移,从而导致得到漂移基线130。
一旦输出从起始基线220漂移并在点150处超过激活阈值120,从而漂移基线130也漂移并超过该阈值,则按钮的“按下”状态被激活。如曲线210所示,输出被解释为好像在点150之后用户持续按压按钮。
因此,在基线漂移的情况下实施简单的阈值算法是不切实际的。
图3示出了受到迟滞现象影响的压力传感器输出的示例。在曲线300中,当传感器输出超过激活点150时,其被正确地解释为按钮被按压。但是,当用户在点160处释放按钮时,按钮被部分卡住,并继续在传感器元件上施加压力,从而导致了在激活阈值120以上的新基线。
在这种情况下,如果采用简单的阈值算法,则因为输出没有回落到激活阈值120以下,所以如相应的曲线310所示,“按下”状态维持有效。
因此,在迟滞情况下,实施简单的阈值算法也是不切实际的。
虽然,比简单的阈值算法复杂的一些算法(例如,重定基线算法和微分算法)可能试图考虑到基线漂移和迟滞现象来正确地解释压力传感器输出以实现类似开关的操作,但是每一个算法都有阻碍其合适地补偿这些信号调整问题的缺点。
重定基线算法按指定的时间间隔来调整基线(或“重定基线”)以匹配当前的输出水平。不幸的是,这种算法依赖于重定基线的正确时间间隔的选择。如果算法过快地重定基线,则其将由于对用户手指所施加的压力进行重定基线操作而导致错过按钮的按压。如果其过慢地重定基线,则其将由于没有及时跟上基线漂移而导致允许意外的按钮按压。在某些情况下,不存在合适的“恰到好处”的间隔。
微分算法依赖于传感器输出的微分。换句话说,其并不关心离散的时间间隔处的输出变化(像在重定基线算法中一样),而是着眼于短时间段内输出变化有多快。因此,其需要用户快速地按下按钮,以使得该压力被解释为按钮按压。如果用户通过将手指放在按钮上并逐渐地施加压力来慢慢地按压,则该按钮按压可能会被完全错过。
因此,当例如实现按钮时,与电容式接近度检测相组合来使用电阻式压力检测能够克服这些信号调整问题。
图4示出了能够在两种不同的操作模式——用于响应于物体所施加的压力提供输出的压力检测模式,和用于响应于物体的接近度提供输出的接近度检测模式——之间切换传感器操作的控制器的示例。

图12示出了传感器构造的示例。在本示例中,混合式压力/接近度传感器可以包括可变形材料1210,例如掺入了碳以使得其轻微导电的橡胶(不过比金属块的导电性弱的东西都可以是实施例)。印刷电路板(“PCB”)1220上的铜图案1230可以置于橡胶元件1210之下。图14a和14b示出了示例性的图案配置。
如果橡胶1210被摁压到PCB 1220的图案1230上,则可以减小两半图案之间的接触电阻。由这种压力导致的电阻变化可以例如通过处理器来测量。可以包括粘合物1240以使得掺杂橡胶1210能够更有效地按压在PCB 1220的图案1230上,当用户将其手指正好按压在罩1110的输入区域1120上时,粘合物1240轻微地压缩。
罩1110可以与具有小通孔的框架1200相粘合。PCB 1220可以粘附在框架1200的底部,并且其上具有图案1230。
图13示出了框架中没有通孔的传感器构造的示例。这个示例类似于图12的那个示例,只是在框架1200上刻出的小凹槽取代了完全钻通框架1200的通孔,在所述的小凹槽中可以插入电路1300(可以是柔性的)和可变形材料1210。可以在罩1110和电路1300之间涂敷导电涂料1310。
图15示出了一种设备的示例。在本示例中,该设备可以包括处理器1500、存储器1510、控制器400和传感器410。
控制器400可以提供必要的驱动和检测电路,以获得来自传感器410的压力和接近度输出。控制器400能够对所接收的压力和接近度输出进行处理,以判断用户是否意图激活或无效按钮的“按下”状态而按压或释放了输入区域1120。为了激活或无效掉“按下”状态,控制器400可以向处理器1500(例如,负责运行该设备的中央处理器)发送表示了这种激活或无效的信号,处理器1500可以触发合适的编程功能,以对所表示出的按钮按压或释放情况作出反应。
存储器1510可以例如包括一个或多个以下类型的存储介质:磁盘,光介质,以及诸如静态和动态随机存取存储器(RAM)、电可编程只读存储器(“EPROM”)、电可擦除可编程只读存储器(“EEPROM”)、可编程门阵列和闪存设备之类的半导体存储设备。
这里所描述的处理功能例如可以通过位于传感器基板自身上的处理器、控制器400、或负责运行该设备的中央处理器来执行。
虽然结合其示例并参考附图来完整地描述了所要求保护的主题,但是应当注意,对于本领域技术人员来说各种改变和修改将是显而易见的。这种改变和修改应当被理解为包括在由所附的权利要求限定的本实用新型的范围内。
Claims (17)
1.一种设备,其特征在于包括:
被设置成至少具有第一模式和第二模式的传感器,所述第一模式被配置以响应于物体施加给所述传感器的压力而提供第一输出,所述第二模式被配置以响应于所述物体与所述传感器的接近度而提供第二输出。
2.根据权利要求1的设备,其特征在于,当所述传感器工作在所述第一操作模式中时,所述设备接收所述第一输出,而当所述传感器工作在所述第二操作模式中时,所述设备接收所述第二输出。
3.根据权利要求2的设备,其特征在于,所述设备被配置以基于接收的所述第一和第二输出的变化来激活所述传感器的输入状态。
4.根据权利要求1的设备,其特征在于,所述物体是手指。
5.一种设备,其特征在于包括:
被配置以交替方式在第一模式下检测电阻和在第二模式下检测电容的传感器,所述电阻表示了施加给所述设备的输入区域的压力,
所述电容表示了物体与所述设备的输入区域的接近度;并且
其中,所述设备被配置以利用所述检测得到的电阻和电容来判断所述物体是否已经按压所述设备的输入区域。
6.根据权利要求5的设备,其特征在于,所述传感器被设置成每隔25毫秒或更少时间在电阻检测和电容检测之间交替。
7.一种利用电容识别来感测压力的设备,其特征在于包括:
一个或多个传感器,所述传感器被配置为至少具有第一模式和第二模式,并被配置用于产生一个或多个信号,所述一个或多个信号在所述第一模式中表示在壳体的输入区域处检测得到的压力水平,并在所述第二模式中表示在所述壳体的输入区域处检测得到的接近度水平;
处理器,所述处理器被配置用于判断所述检测得到的压力水平是否超过压力阈值量、判断所述检测得到的接近度水平是否超过接近度阈值量,并且如果判断得出所述压力阈值量和所述接近度阈值量已经被超过,则激活表示所述壳体的输入区域处的用户输入的状态。
8.根据权利要求7的设备,其特征在于,由相同的传感器来检测压力和接近度。
9.根据权利要求7的设备,其特征在于,由不同的传感器来检测压力和接近度。
10.一种设备,其特征在于包括:
壳体;
传感器,所述传感器被配置用于在第一模式中检测电阻和在第二模式中检测电容;以及
处理器,所述处理器被配置用于基于由所述传感器检测得到的电阻和电容两者的变化来判断所述壳体的表面是否已被按压。
11.根据权利要求10的设备,其特征在于,所述处理器位于安装有所述传感器的电路板上。
12.根据权利要求10的设备,其特征在于,所述处理器并不位于安装有所述传感器的电路板上。
13.根据权利要求12的设备,其特征在于,所述处理器是负责运行所述装置的中央处理器。
14.根据权利要求10的设备,其特征在于,所述处理器
控制所述传感器,并且
被配置作为所述传感器与负责运行所述装置的中央处理器之间的接口。
15.根据权利要求10的设备,其特征在于,所述壳体的所述表面包含刚性材料。
16.根据权利要求10的设备,其特征在于,所述壳体的所述表面由玻璃制成。
17.一种设备,其特征在于包括:
至少具有第一模式和第二模式的传感器,所述传感器在所述第一模式中提供与手指施加给所述传感器的压力相关联的第一输出,所述传感器在所述第二模式中提供与手指和所述传感器的接近度相关联的第二输出,以及
处理器,所述处理器被配置用于对所述第一输出和所述第二输出进行处理,并检测位于所述传感器附近的手指在所述传感器上的压力施加情况。
