Abstract

765,556. Snap-action switches; retractive switches. CASTELCO (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., and SCHNEIDER, H. W. April 14, 1954 [April 21, 1953], No. 10971/53. Class 38(5) A rotary switch has a number of superimposed bases each containing a pair of fixed contacts and a contact adapted for rotary or part rotary movement, the moving contacts being connected by a member for movement in unison, each base being closed by the adjacent base except for the uppermost base which has a cover plate from which the operating member projects. As applied to the switch of Specification 592,480, the operating member 9 has a 'cross-piece engaging tangs 20 on a rotary contact member 15 and a non-circular projection 19 engaging a similarlyshaped recess in a connecting member 22 having sector-shaped openings 23 engaging the tangs of a second contact member 15a, which is located in a second base 1. Thus depression of a push-button 8 causes simultaneous rotation of the contact members. The retractive switch of Specification 592,481 may also be made into a doublepole switch in a similar manner. The switch of Fig. 1 may be operated by a spring-returned drum and chain (Fig. 5, not shown). Specification 644,265 also is referred to.
