本特許協力条約特許出願は、2015年4月8日に出願され、「Optical Encoder with Direction−Dependent Optical Properties」と題する米国仮特許出願第62/144,885号、2015年3月9日に出願され、「Optical Encoder with Anisotropic Optical Surface」と題する米国仮特許出願第62/130,064号、及び2015年3月5日に出願され、「Optical Encoder with Anisotropic Optical Surface」と題する米国仮特許出願第62/128,914号に対する優先権を主張する。これらの特許出願の開示は各々、その全体が本明細書において参照により組み込まれる。

Claims (16)
- 時計であって、
開口部を画定する筐体と、
前記筐体によって少なくとも部分的に取り囲まれたディスプレイと、
前記筐体に結合され、かつ回転入力を受けるように構成されたリューズであって、
前記筐体の側面に沿って位置付けられたダイアルと、
前記ダイアルに結合され、かつ前記筐体の前記開口部を通り延在するシャフトと、
前記シャフトに結合され、および、前記シャフトの軸に平行な軸方向に沿って延在し、かつ介在領域のセットと混在した光反射領域のアレイを画定するスピンドルであって、前記光反射領域が前記軸方向に沿って反射光ビームの幅を増加させるように構成される、スピンドルと、を備える、リューズと、
前記スピンドルの側面に沿って位置付けられ、かつ前記スピンドルの一部分を照射するように構成された光放射器と、
前記スピンドルの前記側面に沿って配置され、かつ前記軸方向に前記光放射器と整列している光検出器と、を備える、時計。 - 前記介在領域のセットの各介在領域は前記光放射器から放射される光を吸収する光吸収領域である、請求項1に記載の時計。
- 前記光反射領域のアレイの光反射領域は前記スピンドルの円周の周りに少なくとも部分的に延在する溝の特徴部のセットを含む、請求項1に記載の時計。
- 前記光反射領域のアレイの光反射領域は前記スピンドルの円周の周りに少なくとも部分的に延在する凸形状の特徴部のセットを含む、請求項1に記載の時計。
- 前記シャフトおよび前記スピンドルは単一の部品としてともに一体的に形成されている、請求項1に記載の時計。
- 前記時計は前記光放射器または前記光検出器の少なくとも1つの面に隣接して位置付けられた光拡散部材をさらに備え、
前記光拡散部材は前記軸方向に沿って光分散の幅を増加させるように構成される、請求項1に記載の時計。 - 前記光反射領域のアレイは非反復シーケンスを画定し、
前記時計は前記非反復シーケンスに基づき、前記リューズの絶対角度位置を決定するように構成される、請求項1に記載の時計。 - 手首装着型電子デバイスであって、
筐体と、
前記筐体内に少なくとも部分的に位置付けられ、かつグラフィカル要素を示すように構成されたディスプレイと、
前記筐体に結合され、かつ回転入力を受けるように構成されたリューズであって、
前記筐体の側面に沿って位置付けられたダイアルと、
前記ダイアルに結合され、かつスピンドルの長さに沿って延在する交互領域のアレイを有する前記スピンドルと、を備える、リューズと、
前記スピンドルの側面に沿って位置付けられ、かつ前記交互領域のアレイの一部分を照射するように構成された光放射器と、
前記スピンドルの前記長さに沿って配置され、かつ前記交互領域のアレイの前記一部分から反射された光を検出するように構成された光検出器のアレイと、
前記光検出器のアレイ、または前記光放射器の少なくとも1つ上に位置付けられ、かつ前記スピンドルの前記長さを横断する方向に各々延在する細長形レンズ特徴部のアレイを含む拡散部材と、を備え、
前記手首装着型電子デバイスが前記回転入力に応じて前記ディスプレイの前記グラフィカル要素を変更するように構成される、手首装着型電子デバイス。 - 前記グラフィカル要素が前記回転入力の速さに従い動く、請求項8に記載の手首装着型電子デバイス。
- 前記交互領域のアレイが空間的に特徴的なパターンを画定し、
前記手首装着型電子デバイスが前記空間的に特徴的なパターンに基づき、前記リューズの絶対回転位置を決定するように構成される、請求項8に記載の手首装着型電子デバイス。 - 前記光検出器のアレイが、
相補的金属酸化物半導体(CMOS)要素のアレイ、または
電荷結合デバイス要素のアレイの1つまたはそれ以上である、請求項8に記載の手首装着型電子デバイス。 - ウェラブル電子デバイスであって、
内部容積を画定する筐体と、
前記内部容積内に少なくとも部分的に、かつ前記ウェラブル電子デバイスの前部に沿って位置付けられたディスプレイと、
リューズであって、
前記ウェラブル電子デバイスの側面に沿って位置付けられ、かつ回転入力を受けるように構成されたダイアルと、
前記ダイアルに結合され、かつ前記筐体の前記内部容積内に延在するシャフトと、
前記シャフトの軸方向に沿って延在し、かつ他の非軸方向と比べて前記軸方向に沿ってより拡散する反射光ビームを生成するように入射光ビームを反射するように構成された光反射領域を含む光反射領域アレイと、を備える、リューズと、
前記光反射領域のアレイの側面に沿って位置付けられ、かつ前記光反射領域のアレイの一部分を前記入射光ビームで照射するように構成された光放射器と、
前記軸方向に沿って前記光放射器と整列する光検出器と、を備える、ウェラブル電子デバイス。 - 前記リューズは前記シャフトに結合され、かつ前記筐体の前記内部容積内に位置付けられたスピンドルをさらに備え、
前記光反射領域のアレイは前記スピンドルの外側表面に沿って形成される、請求項12に記載のウェラブル電子デバイス。 - 前記光反射領域は前記光反射領域の長さに沿って配置された凹形状の特徴部のアレイを含む、請求項12に記載のウェラブル電子デバイス。
- 前記光反射領域は前記光反射領域の長さに沿って配置された凸形状の特徴部のアレイを含む、請求項12に記載のウェラブル電子デバイス。
- 前記光検出器は前記軸方向に沿って配置されたフォト検出器の直線配列を備える、請求項12に記載のウェラブル電子デバイス。
