- Japanese Patent No. 3184517 Japanese Patent No. 3744665 JP 2001-250580 A JP 2011-96630 A JP 2010-540396 A
- the present inventor has a cubic crystal structure belonging to the space group F-43m as a solid electrolyte material used for a lithium ion battery, and has a composition formula: Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x (Ha is Cl or Br ).
- Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x Ha is Cl or Br .
- problems such as high electron conductivity and charge / discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics were not as expected.
- the present invention relates to a compound having a cubic crystal structure in the space group F-43m and represented by the composition formula: Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x (Ha is Cl or Br). It is an object of the present invention to provide a new sulfide-based solid electrolyte for lithium ion batteries that can improve charge and discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics by increasing ion conductivity and decreasing electron conductivity.
- the present invention includes a compound having a cubic crystal structure belonging to the space group F-43m and represented by a composition formula: Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x (Ha is Cl or Br), X is 0.2 to 1.8 in the composition formula, and the lightness L * value of the L * a * b * color system is 60.0 or more.
- a solid electrolyte is proposed.
- the present invention also provides a method for producing such a sulfide-based solid electrolyte for a lithium ion battery, such as lithium sulfide (Li 2 S) powder, phosphorus sulfide (P 2 S 5 ) powder, lithium chloride (LiCl) powder or bromide.
- a production method comprising mixing lithium (LiBr) powder and firing at 350 to 500 ° C. in an inert atmosphere, or firing at 350 to 650 ° C. in an atmosphere containing hydrogen sulfide gas. suggest.
- the sulfide-based solid electrolyte proposed by the present invention is characterized by high lithium ion conductivity, low electron conductivity, and high lithium ion transport number because of low sulfur deficiency and high crystallinity. . Therefore, when it is used as a solid electrolyte of a lithium ion battery, charge / discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics can be improved.
- the sulfide-based solid electrolyte (referred to as “the present solid electrolyte”) according to the present embodiment has a crystal structure that belongs to the space group F-43m and has a composition formula (1): Li 7-x PS 6 This is a sulfide-based solid electrolyte containing a compound represented by -x Ha x (Ha is Cl or Br).
- Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x indicating the content of the Ha element is preferably 0.2 to 1.8.
- x is 0.2 to 1.8, it is possible to obtain a cubic crystal structure belonging to the space group F-43m and to suppress the generation of an impurity phase, so that the lithium ion conductivity is increased. be able to.
- x is preferably 0.2 to 1.8, and particularly preferably x is 0.6 or more and 1.6 or less.
- x is preferably 0.2 to 1.8, more preferably 0.4 or more, and among these, x is 0.6 or more. Alternatively, it is particularly preferably 1.6 or less, and particularly preferably 0.8 or more and 1.2 or less.
- Ha Cl
- x is preferably 0.2 to 1.2.
- x is 0.4 or more or 1.2 or less, and more preferably 0.6 or more or 1.2 or less. It is particularly preferred.
- a sulfide-based solid electrolyte is excellent in ion conductivity in the first place, and can easily form an interface with an active material at room temperature as compared with an oxide, and can reduce interface resistance. Especially, since this solid electrolyte has few sulfur deficiency and high crystallinity, its electronic conductivity is low and its lithium ion conductivity is particularly excellent. Also, Li 7 PS 6 having the same skeleton structure as Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x is lithium-ion conductivity is low orthorhombic cubic high (the space group Pna2 1) (space group F-43m) The crystal transition around 170 ° C. is an orthorhombic crystal with low ionic conductivity.
- Patent Document 3 in order to obtain a cubic crystal having high ion conductivity, usually, a rapid cooling treatment is required after heating once to a phase transition point or higher.
- a rapid cooling treatment is required after heating once to a phase transition point or higher.
- the compound of the above composition formula it does not have a phase transition point at a temperature higher than room temperature, and the crystal structure can maintain a cubic system having high ion conductivity even at room temperature. Even without treatment, high ionic conductivity can be secured, which is particularly preferable in this respect.
- one that does not substantially contain a phase composed of lithium sulfide, lithium chloride, or lithium bromide is preferable.
- a single phase of Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x is even more preferable because charge / discharge efficiency and cycle characteristics when the battery is assembled are improved.
- substantially free of a phase comprising lithium sulfide, lithium chloride and lithium bromide means that the peak intensity of lithium sulfide, lithium chloride and lithium bromide is Li 7-x PS in the XRD chart. This means that the peak intensity of 6-x Ha x is less than 3%.
- the lithium ion transport number is preferably 90% or more, more preferably 95% or more, and particularly preferably 99% or more. If the lithium ion transport number is 90% or more, the electron conductivity is further lowered, and the battery characteristics can be further enhanced.
- lithium ion transport number of the present solid electrolyte As a method for setting the lithium ion transport number of the present solid electrolyte to 90% or more, for example, in the composition formula (1), when Ha is Cl, x is adjusted to 0.4 to 1.8, When Ha is Br, after adjusting x to 0.2 to 1.2, lithium sulfide (Li 2 S) powder, phosphorus sulfide (P 2 S 5 ) powder, lithium chloride (LiCl) powder or Lithium bromide (LiBr) powder is mixed with a ball mill or the like as described later and fired at 350 to 500 ° C. in an inert atmosphere, or at 350 to 650 ° C. in an atmosphere containing hydrogen sulfide gas. Baking is preferred. However, it is not limited to this method.
- the lightness L * value of the L * a * b * color system is preferably 60.0 or more, more preferably 70.0 or more, and particularly preferably 75.0 or more. This is presumably because if the sulfur deficiency is present in the solid electrolyte, the sulfur deficiency absorbs visible light, so that the brightness is lowered. In addition, when sulfur in the solid electrolyte is deficient, it is considered that electrons are generated according to the following formula (1) and the electron conductivity is expressed.
- the present solid electrolyte is prepared by weighing, for example, lithium sulfide (Li 2 S) powder, phosphorus sulfide (P 2 S 5 ) powder, lithium chloride (LiCl) powder or lithium bromide (LiBr) powder, It is preferable to pulverize and mix with a bead mill, a homogenizer or the like. At this time, the pulverization and mixing may be carried out by reducing the crystallinity of the raw material powder or making it amorphous or homogenizing the raw material mixed powder by a very powerful mechanical pulverization mixing such as mechanical alloying. The bond with sulfur is broken, sulfur is lost during firing, sulfur deficiency is generated, and electron conductivity is exhibited. Therefore, pulverization and mixing that can maintain the crystallinity of the raw material powder is desirable.
- the present solid electrolyte can be synthesized even when fired at a relatively low temperature. Therefore, by firing at 350 ° C. or higher in an inert atmosphere or hydrogen sulfide gas (H 2 S) flow, the present solid electrolyte which is almost a stoichiometric sulfide and has almost no sulfur deficiency can be produced. it can.
- H 2 S hydrogen sulfide gas
- the sulfur partial pressure in the vicinity of the fired sample can be increased by sulfur gas generated by decomposition of hydrogen sulfide during firing, so that sulfur deficiency is difficult to generate even at high firing temperatures. Electron conductivity can be lowered. Therefore, when firing in an atmosphere containing hydrogen sulfide gas, the firing temperature is preferably 350 to 650 ° C., particularly 450 ° C. or more and 600 ° C. or less, and particularly 500 ° C. or more or 550 ° C. or less. Is particularly preferred. Thus, when calcination is performed under the flow of hydrogen sulfide gas (H 2 S), the calcination can be performed without losing sulfur in the sulfide by calcination at 350 to 650 ° C.
- H 2 S hydrogen sulfide gas
- the firing temperature is preferably 350 to 500 ° C., more preferably 350 ° C. or more and 450 ° C. or less, and particularly preferably 400 ° C. or more and 450 ° C. or less.
- the raw material powder having a small particle size and high reactivity is preferably used.
- baking may be performed in an inert atmosphere.
- the above raw materials and fired products are extremely unstable in the air, decompose by reacting with moisture, generate hydrogen sulfide gas, or oxidize, so a glove box substituted with an inert gas atmosphere, etc. Through this, it is preferable to perform a series of operations for setting the raw material in the furnace and taking out the fired product from the furnace.
- exhaust gas is completely burned with a burner or the like and then neutralized with a sodium hydroxide solution to be treated as sodium sulfide or the like.
- the present solid electrolyte can be used as a solid electrolyte layer of an all-solid lithium secondary battery or an all-solid lithium primary battery, a solid electrolyte mixed in a positive electrode / negative electrode mixture, or the like.
- an all-solid lithium secondary battery can be formed by forming a layer made of the above solid electrolyte between the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the positive electrode and the negative electrode.
- the layer made of the solid electrolyte is prepared by, for example, dropping a slurry made of the solid electrolyte, a binder and a solvent onto the substrate and scrubbing with a doctor blade, etc., a method of cutting with an air knife after contacting the slurry, a screen printing method, etc. can do.
- a powder compact of a solid electrolyte by pressing or the like and then process it appropriately.
- a positive electrode material used as a positive electrode active material of a lithium ion battery can be used as appropriate.
- the negative electrode material a negative electrode material used as a negative electrode active material of a lithium ion battery can be appropriately used.
- this solid electrolyte is electrochemically stable, artificial graphite, natural graphite, non-graphitizable, which is charged and discharged at a base potential (about 0.1 V vs Li + / Li) comparable to lithium metal.
- Carbon-based materials such as carbon (hard carbon) can be used. Therefore, the energy density of the all solid lithium secondary battery can be greatly improved by using the carbon-based material for the negative electrode material.
- a lithium ion battery having the present solid electrolyte and a negative electrode active material containing carbon such as artificial graphite, natural graphite, or non-graphitizable carbon (hard carbon) can be configured.
- the “solid electrolyte” means all substances that can move ions such as Li + in the solid state.
- X to Y X and Y are arbitrary numbers
- it means “preferably greater than X” or “preferably,” with the meaning of “X to Y” unless otherwise specified.
- the meaning of “smaller than Y” is also included.
- X or more X is an arbitrary number

- Example 1 Lithium sulfide (Li 2 S) powder 2.14 g, phosphorous sulfide (P 2 S 5 ) powder 2.07 g, and lithium chloride (LiCl) powder 0.79 g were used so that the composition formula shown in Table 1 was obtained.
- the mixed powder is filled in a carbon container, and this is heated at a temperature rising / lowering rate of 200 ° C./h while circulating 1.0 L / min of hydrogen sulfide gas (H 2 S, purity 100%) in a tubular electric furnace. Baked at 400 ° C. for 4 hours.
- the sample was crushed in a mortar and sized with a sieve having an opening of 53 ⁇ m to obtain a powdery sample.
- the above weighing, mixing, setting in the electric furnace, taking out from the electric furnace, crushing and sizing operations are all carried out in the glove box replaced with sufficiently dried Ar gas (dew point -60 ° C or higher). It carried out in.
- Ar gas dew point -60 ° C or higher. It carried out in.

- P 2 S 5 phosphorus sulfide
- LiBr lithium bromide
- the sample was crushed in a mortar and sized with a sieve having an opening of 53 ⁇ m to obtain a powdery sample.
- the above weighing, mixing, setting in the electric furnace, taking out from the electric furnace, crushing and sizing operations are all carried out in the glove box replaced with sufficiently dried Ar gas (dew point -60 ° C or higher). It carried out in.
- Ar gas dew point -60 ° C or higher
- Example 3-15 Samples were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the blending amount of each raw material was changed so that the composition formula shown in Table 1 was obtained, and the firing atmosphere and firing temperature were changed to the temperatures shown in Table 1. did.
- the obtained powdery sample (compound) by XRD it is a compound having a cubic crystal structure in the space group F-43m and represented by the composition formula shown in Table 1, respectively. It was confirmed.
- composition ratio was measured by the ICP emission spectrometry.
- X in Table 1 represents x of Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x (Ha is Cl or Br), and “transport number” represents the lithium ion transport number (t Li + ).
- “LiCl (fine)”, “LiBr (fine)”, and “Li 2 S (fine)” indicate that although LiCl, LiBr, and Li 2 S peaks were detected on the XRD chart, This is a case where the peak intensity is less than 3% of the peak intensity of Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x .
- the samples of Examples 1 to 15 are Li 7-x PS 6-x Ha x having a crystal structure in which the main production phase is cubic and belongs to the space group F-43m. It was found that Li 2 S, LiCl, and LiBr in the reaction did not remain or remained only slightly.
- the lightness L * value was 60.0 or more, and the lithium ion transport number was 90% or more.
- the ionic conductivity was 10 -4 S / cm or more for all samples, which was a very high value.
- Comparative Examples 6 and 7 could not be evaluated because the firing temperature was too high, and the sample melted and adhered firmly to the firing container.
- the samples of Comparative Examples 9 and 10 were fired with Ar gas that was an inert atmosphere, but because the firing temperature was too high, the main product phase was cubic and Li having a crystal structure belonging to the space group F-43m. Although it was 7-x PS 6-x Ha x , the lightness L * value was less than 60.0, and the lithium ion transport number was also less than 90%.
- Part 1 A positive electrode mixture was prepared using the samples obtained in Examples 5 and 13 and Comparative Example 1 as a solid electrolyte, an all-solid lithium battery (all-solid InLi / NCM cell) was produced, and battery characteristics evaluation (charge / discharge) Efficiency and cycle characteristics evaluation).
- the positive electrode mixture powder was prepared by ball mill mixing a positive electrode active material powder, a solid electrolyte powder, and a conductive additive (acetylene black) powder at a ratio of 40: 54: 6.
- the battery characteristic measurement was evaluated by placing all solid-state battery cells in an environmental testing machine maintained at 25 ° C. and connecting to a charge / discharge measuring device. At this time, charging was performed by the CC-CV method with an upper limit voltage of 3.7V, and discharging was performed by the CC method with a lower limit voltage of 2.0V. Charging and discharging are repeated at a current density of 0.066 (0.05 C) mA / cm from the first cycle to the fifth cycle, and charging and discharging are performed at 0.133 (0.1 C) mA / cm in the sixth cycle. After that, charging and discharging were repeated at a current density of 0.066 (0.05 C) mA / cm from the 7th cycle to the 10th cycle to evaluate cycle life characteristics. The results are shown in Table 2.
- the all-solid-state battery of the InLi / NCM cell produced with the sample of Comparative Example 1 has a lower charge voltage at the first cycle than the all-solid-state battery produced with the samples of Examples 5 and 13, A high charge capacity was shown up to an upper limit voltage of 3.7V.
- the sample of Comparative Example 1 has high electronic conductivity, and therefore, in the solid electrolyte layer, apart from the electrochemical reaction that accompanies the detachment of lithium from the positive electrode active material during charging and the insertion of lithium into the negative electrode. A slight leakage current is generated, and an extra amount of electricity is required in addition to the amount of electricity that contributes to desorption / occlusion of lithium, which is considered to indicate a high charge capacity.
- (material) A powder obtained by coating a ternary layered compound LiNi 0.5 Co 0.2 Mn 0.3 O 2 (NCM) with a ZrO 2 film as a positive electrode active material, and graphite (Gr) powder as a negative electrode active material.
- the sample (compound) obtained in Examples and Comparative Examples was used as the solid electrolyte powder.
- the positive electrode mixture powder was prepared by ball mill mixing a positive electrode active material powder, a solid electrolyte powder, and a conductive additive (acetylene black) powder at a ratio of 40: 54: 6.
- the negative electrode (Gr) composite powder was prepared by ball mill mixing the Gr powder and the solid electrolyte powder at a ratio of 40:60.
- the battery characteristic measurement was evaluated by placing all solid-state battery cells in an environmental testing machine maintained at 25 ° C. and connecting to a charge / discharge measuring device. At this time, the battery was charged by a CC-CV method with an upper limit voltage of 4.2 V, and discharged by a CC method with a lower limit voltage of 2.5 V, and the cycle life characteristics from the first cycle to the 50th cycle were evaluated. In this evaluation, the 6th, 16th, and 26th cycles were repeatedly charged and discharged at a current density of 0.133 (0.1 C) mA / cm, and in other cycles, 0.066 (0 .05C) Charging and discharging were performed at mA / cm. The results are shown in Table 3.
- the Gr / NCM cell all-solid-state battery using the sample of Example 5 has reduced irreversible capacity in the first cycle, high charge / discharge efficiency, and 3 cycles as in the case of the all-solid battery of InLi / NCM cell.
- the result was that the capacity retention rate showing eye and cycle characteristics was also high.
- a capacity retention rate of about 75% was obtained even after 50 cycles of charge / discharge, indicating good cycle characteristics.
- the current density was increased from 0.05 C to 0.10 C, the decrease in capacity retention rate was suppressed. Therefore, in this solid electrolyte, since a carbon-based material can be used for the negative electrode active material, the energy density of the all-solid lithium secondary battery can be greatly improved.
Abstract
