Definitions

  • This application relates to the technical field of vehicle manufacturing, and specifically, to a battery pack, a vehicle having the battery pack, and an energy storage device having the battery pack.
  • a battery pack such as that applied to an electric vehicle, mainly includes a pack body and a plurality of battery modules mounted in the pack body.
  • Each battery module is an assembly of a plurality of cells.
  • a battery pack includes a battery pack housing, where a plurality of cross beams 500 and a plurality of longitudinal beams 600 divide the battery pack housing into a plurality of mounting regions for a battery module 400 , and the battery module 400 is fixed to the cross beams 500 or longitudinal beams 600 through screws or in another manner.
  • the battery module 400 includes a plurality of cells arranged in sequence, where the plurality of cells are arranged to form a cell array, and an end plate and/or side plate are or is disposed outside the cell array.
  • the end plate and the side plate are both included, and the end plate and the side plate are fixed to enclose a space for accommodating the cell array.
  • the end plate and the side plate are connected through a screw connection or welding, or by another connector such as a pull rod, to fix the cell array.
  • the battery module 400 is fixed to the cross beams 500 or longitudinal beams 600 through screws and other structures, which wastes space, increases a weight because of addition of screws and other connectors, and reduces energy density.
  • the battery module 400 is designed through fitting of the end plate and the side plate.
  • the end plate and the side plate both have specific thicknesses and specific heights, resulting in waste of internal space of the battery pack and reduction of the volume utilization of the battery pack.
  • a ratio of a sum of volumes of cells in the battery pack to a volume of the battery pack is about 50% or even as low as 40%.
  • the end plate and the side plate of the battery module 400 and connection and mounting manners and the like inside the battery pack all reduce a utilization of internal space of the battery pack. Consequently, in the battery pack, a ratio of the sum of volumes of the cells to the volume of the pack body is excessively low, and energy density of the battery pack cannot satisfy an increase in the foregoing demand and gradually becomes an important factor hindering the development of electrical vehicles. In addition, there is a cumbersome assembly process and complex assembly procedures. A battery module needs to be assembled first, and then, the battery module is mounted into the battery pack, resulting in increases in labor costs, material resource costs, and the like.
  • an objective of the present disclosure is to provide a battery pack, where the battery pack has advantages such as the high space utilization, the high energy density, the excellent battery life, the high reliability, the low costs, and the high quality.
