Abstract

- 前記照明は、少なくとも部分的に、前記光源から前記空間光変調器への反射により提供される、請求項1に記載の表示装置。

- 前記空間光変調器は、前記照明要素からの光の隣接する照明要素の光への広がりを含む照明と、前記所望の画像の画像データとを考慮して、前記空間光変調器の変調値を設定することにより、前記空間光変調器に入射する前記照明をさらに変調して、前記所望の画像に近づけるように構成されている、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記空間光変調器上の前記照明は、前記照明要素の各々からの光の隣接する照明要素の光への広がりを含み、前記表示装置はさらに、前記照明と広がった光とを考慮して、前記空間光変調器を設定して前記所望の画像に近似した結果画像を生成するように構成された制御装置を備える、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記空間光変調器に入射する既知の強度値の光を考慮して前記空間光変調器を設定し、前記所望の画像に近似する結果画像を生成するように構成された制御装置をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記空間光変調器に入射する既知の強度値の光は、前記分布関数に従う前記照明要素からの光の隣接する照明要素の光への広がりを含む、請求項8に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光源は、前記空間光変調器の面に実質的に平行な方向に光を投光し、前記光源からの光は、前記空間光変調器の面に実質的に垂直な方向に向きを変えられる、請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光源からの光の向きを変えることは、反射および拡散を含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置。
- 前記分布関数は、0.3×d2〜3×d2の分布関数を含み、d2は照明要素間の間隔である、請求項11に記載の表示装置。
- 局所的に調光された表示の方法であって、
照明装置を稼動させるステップと、
稼動した照明装置からの光を空間光変調器へ反射させるステップと、
反射された光を変調して所望の画像を生成するステップと
を含み、
前記反射された光は低解像度バージョンの所望の画像を含み、前記照明装置は前記空間光変調器の端部及び後方に位置し、前記反射された光は、前記空間光変調器において、一つの要素から他の要素へ滑らかに変化する一連の照明要素を含む、方法。 - 前記照明装置は、前記空間光変調器の面に実質的に平行な方向に光を投光し、前記照明装置からの光は、前記空間光変調器の面に実質的に垂直な方向に反射される、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 滑らかに変化する照明要素は、0.3×d2〜3×d2の半値全幅を有する分布関数を備え、d2は、前記照明要素の原点における間隔である、請求項13または14に記載の方法。
