Definitions
- the present invention relates to a phosphor used in a display device such as CRT, PDP, FED, and EL, a fluorescent display tube, and a lighting device such as a fluorescent lamp, a manufacturing method thereof, and the phosphor. It relates to the light source.
- This white LED illumination is composed of a semiconductor element and a phosphor with little heat generation, so it has a long life without breaking like conventional incandescent bulbs, vibration and on / off It has the advantages of being resistant to repeated lighting and eliminating the need for harmful substances such as mercury, making it an ideal lighting device.
- the above features are also being used as a backlight for liquid crystals instead of CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps).
- Another method is an LED that emits near ultraviolet light and ultraviolet light, a red phosphor that emits red (R) light when excited by receiving the near ultraviolet light and ultraviolet light, a green phosphor that emits green light (G), and blue light.
- R red
- G green
- blue light blue
- a blue phosphor that emits light and others are combined to obtain white light emission by RGB other light emitted from the phosphor.
- RGB red
- This method of obtaining white light by other light from RGB obtains any light emission color other than white light, depending on the combination and mixing ratio of each of the other phosphors. Therefore, the application range as a lighting device is wide. If the phosphor used in the application is a red phosphor, for example, YOS: Eu, La OS: Eu, 3.5MgO
- ZnS Cu, Al, SrAl O: Eu, BAM: Eu, Mn.
- BAM EuAMSr (PO) Cl: Eu
- ZnS Ag
- Cl Sr ⁇ Ca ⁇ Ba ⁇ Mg
- a light emitting part such as ED
- an illumination device such as an LED that produces white or a desired color
- the red phosphor has a lower excitation efficiency than the other phosphors, and the luminous efficiency is low. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the mixing ratio of only the red phosphor, and the phosphor for improving the luminance is insufficient, so that a high luminance white color cannot be obtained. Furthermore, there is another problem that the color rendering property is bad because the emission spectrum of the phosphor is sharp!
- the YAG: Ce yellow phosphor described above shows that the YAG: Ce yellow phosphor emits blue light emitted from a blue LED. When it is used, it is in an efficient excitation range, and good yellow light emission can be obtained. However, in the case of emitting light with near-ultraviolet light emitted by near-ultraviolet 'ultraviolet LED's, it is not possible to obtain sufficient light emission because the effective excitation range power is lost. This means that the YAG: Ce-based yellow phosphor is efficient and has a narrow excitation range.
- the problem that the effective excitation range is narrow for YAG: Ce-based yellow phosphors is that the above-mentioned variation in light-emitting elements during the manufacture of blue LEDs, even when the blue LEDs emit light. Due to variations in the emission wavelength due to, the emission wavelength of the blue LED deviates from the optimum excitation range of the YAG: Ce-based yellow phosphor, leading to a situation where the blue and yellow wavelength balance is lost. And in that situation This leads to a problem that the color tone of the white light obtained by combining the blue light and the yellow light changes.
- a phosphor having a wide excitation band range and flat characteristics is required in order to avoid the change in color tone.
- an oxynitride glass phosphor that has good excitation on the long wavelength side and can obtain an emission peak with a wide half-value width for example, see Patent Document 1
- a phosphor that uses sialon as a base for example, Patent Documents 2 and 3
- phosphors containing nitrogen such as silicon nitride for example, see Patent Documents 4 and 5
- the phosphor containing nitrogen has a higher covalent bond ratio than oxide-based phosphors and the like, it has a good excitation band even for light with a wavelength of 400 nm or more!

- phosphors having different wavelengths can be obtained.
- the peak wavelength of the emission wavelength of the phosphor is preferably set to 650 nm or more, more preferably 655 nm or more.
- the emission wavelength is increased by increasing the concentration of the activator Z atom (where Z atom is Eu and may be referred to as Eu hereinafter).
- Z atom is Eu and may be referred to as Eu hereinafter.
- concentration quenching occurs in which the luminous efficiency decreases. Therefore, the present inventors studied shifting the emission wavelength to the longer wavelength side without increasing the Eu concentration too much.
- the unit cell of the crystal structure contained in the phosphor is controlled. As a result, the inventors have come up with a configuration that shifts to the longer wavelength side more efficiently.
- the peak wavelength of the phosphor can be set to 650 nm or more without lowering the luminous efficiency, and the chromaticity point of emission of the phosphor is approximately X on the CIE chromaticity coordinates. Takes coordinates of 0.65 or more and y of 0.35 or less. As a result, the emission spectrum of the phosphor takes on coordinates close to red on the right end without limitation on the CIE chromaticity coordinates. As a light emitting device, red color reproducibility is improved. When a light source that emits white light is produced by combining the phosphor with another phosphor, white light having a similar color temperature is emitted using a conventional red phosphor (for example, Comparative Example 1). This is because light emission is considered to occur mainly on the particle surface in the phosphor powder, and therefore the average particle diameter (in the present invention, the average particle diameter is the median diameter (D50)). This is because if it is 20 m or less, the surface area per unit weight of the powder can be secured and the decrease in luminance can be avoided. Furthermore, even when the powder is made into a paste and applied to a light-emitting element or the like, the density of the powder can be increased, and from this viewpoint, a reduction in luminance can be avoided.

- FIG. 1 (A) is a powder X-ray diffraction pattern of a phosphor according to Example 1 which will be described later as an example of the phosphor according to the present invention
- (B) is the X-ray diffraction pattern ⁇
- the peak data that occupies the upper half in Fig. 1 (B) is the Bragg angle (2 ⁇ ) and intensity of the main peak shown in (A) expressed as the position and height of the line segment. It is a thing.
- the card peak occupying the lower half is the Bragg angle (2 ⁇ ) of the main peak of the CaAlSiN (39-0747) crystal described in the JCPDS force.
- the peaks of the phosphors according to the present invention are all shifted in the direction in which the Bragg angle (2 0) decreases, and although they are similar, the crystal plane spacing It is considered that they have different crystal structures.
- CaAlSiN described in the JCPDS card is CaO, A1N,
- the phosphors according to the present invention include Ca N, A1N, Si N and the base material.
- the elements that make up the structure are all made of nitride materials, there is a difference in the amount of oxygen present in the structures of the two crystal structures.
- the phosphor according to the present invention it is conceivable that a part of Ca is substituted with Eu.
- the formation phase of the phosphor according to the present invention has an orthorhombic crystal system similar to the CaAlSiN crystal described in the JCP DS card. Because
- the present inventors have a novel crystal structure in which the phosphor according to the present invention is similar to the CaAlSiN crystal described in the JCPDS card but has a different crystal plane spacing.
- the structure of the phosphor according to the present invention having the novel crystal structure is defined by the X-ray diffraction pattern indicated by the phosphor.
- the generated phase contained in the phosphor according to the present invention has a Bragg angle (2 0) [36,5 ° -37.5 °, 40.9 ° -41.9 °, 41.9 ° -42.9 °, 56.3 ° -57.3 °, 66.0 ° -67.0 °, 75.8 ° -76.8 °, and 81.0 ° -83. 0.
- peaks in the range of 36.5 ° to 37.5 ° and 41.9 ° to 42.9 ° are particularly characteristic peaks with strong intensities.
- the peaks in the range of ° to 57.3 ° are the second most characteristic peaks. All of these peaks were diffraction peaks having a relative intensity of 10% or more when the relative intensity of the diffraction peak having the highest intensity in the X-ray diffraction pattern was 100%. All of these characteristic diffraction peaks are more crystalline than the CaAlSiN crystals described above ⁇ and described in the JCPDS card.
- the interplanar spacing is large, indicating that a single crystal phase is produced.
- the peak pattern considered to be obtained as a single target phase is shown by the fact that the phosphor according to the present invention has excellent emission characteristics and good excitation band characteristics. It is considered to have a close relationship with holding!
- the peak of the raw materials (CaN, A1N, SiN, EuO) used for producing the phosphor is not observed.
- the phosphor to be measured has excellent emission characteristics and a good excitation band. It is thought that it shows.
- the high intensity of the X-ray diffraction peak is considered to reflect the high crystallinity of the product phase.
- the crystallinity of the product phase is high, the structure around Eu 2+ in the product phase is easy to emit light, and when the structure is regularly connected, excellent light emission characteristics can be obtained. Conceivable.
- the X-ray diffraction peak intensity is weak and the crystallinity is considered to be low, the order of the structure around Eu 2+ , which is the emission center, is insufficient, so Eu 2+ and Eu 2+ If the distance becomes too close, concentration quenching occurs, Eu 2+ enters the site where Eu 2+ should enter, and so on, so that excellent light emission characteristics cannot be obtained. It is believed that there is.
- the present inventors show that the relative intensity of the peak seen in the range of 38.0 to 40.0 ° at the Bragg angle (2 ⁇ ) in the X-ray diffraction pattern is weak, more preferably 38.5 to 39.5 ° and 44.0 to 45.0 °, no diffraction peaks are observed. Power Excellent emission characteristics and good excitation band characteristics! I realized that it was a reflection of this. This is because the peak seen around 38.0 to 40.0 ° at the Bragg angle (2 0) is considered to be the peak of A1N, which is the raw material of the phosphor.
- the firing temperature is insufficient or the amount of raw materials is not appropriate when the phosphor is manufactured, the remaining raw materials are present in the fired phosphor, which adversely affects the emission characteristics and the like.
- the A1N is gray, so it absorbs the light emitted from the phosphor sample and the light from the excitation light, which directly leads to a decrease in the light emission intensity. It is thought that! Therefore, in order to obtain a phosphor with strong emission intensity, it is preferable to use one having a weak diffraction peak intensity of A1 N near 38.0 to 40.0 °. Specifically, it depends on the Coka line of the phosphor.
- the method for measuring the powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the phosphor according to the present invention will be described.
- the phosphor to be measured is pulverized after firing to a predetermined average particle size (preferably 1 ⁇ m to 20 ⁇ m) using a mortar, ball mill, or other pulverizing means, and the material is transferred to a titanium holder. It was packed flat and measured with an XRD device “RINT 2000” manufactured by Rigaku Denki Co., Ltd. The measurement conditions are shown below.
- the scan speed is set to 0.03 ° / min, Si is mixed into the phosphor sample, and the deviation of the Si peak is measured after X-ray measurement.
- the Bragg angle (2 ⁇ ) is obtained by correcting
- the present inventors have performed measurement of the peak position of the XRD.
- the crystal structure analysis of the phosphor sample was performed using the Rietveld technique.
- the Rietveld method refers to the actual X-ray diffraction intensity obtained from the actual measurement, the crystal structure model force constructed by predicting the crystal structure, and the theoretical X-ray diffraction intensity obtained by calculation. In order to reduce the difference between the two, various structural parameters in the latter model are refined by the least-squares method, leading to a more accurate model of the crystal structure.
- the program “RIETAN-2000” was used, and the reference crystal structure was the result of the CaAlSiN bond described in JCPDS Card 39-0747. The crystal structure was used.
- the present inventors have found a phosphor having an emission peak wavelength of 650 nm or more.
- the amount of oxygen contained as impurities is 3. Owt% or less
- the lattice constant force of each crystal lattice 9.75A or more
- b 5.64A or more
- c 5.05A or more
- body force 275 3.
- OA 3 or more more preferably ⁇
- a 9. 8 ⁇ above
- the crystalline cell volume was found to be at 280. 5A 3 or more.
- a-axis, b-axis, and c-axis are shown in the order in which the lengths are a>b> c.
- the order of a, b, c is changed depending on how the atomic coordinates are taken. Is also synonymous.
- the present inventors investigated the relationship between the emission characteristics of the phosphor and the crystallite size using the above-described phosphor sample.
- the crystallite size was determined by the following method.
- the crystallite size (Dx) was averaged from diffraction peaks in the range of -37.5 °, 41.9 ° -42.9 °, 56.3 ° -57.3 °.
- the present inventors have found that in order to obtain a phosphor having an emission peak wavelength of 650 nm or more, a crystal It has been found that the child size should be 20 nm or more, preferably 50 nm or more, and more preferably 90 nm or more.
- the present inventors have conceived the crystal structure, lattice constant, and crystallite size that contribute to the improvement of the light emission characteristics of the phosphor sample using the Rietveld method and the Sierra equation. Furthermore, the inventors have conceived that it is important to control the oxygen concentration in the phosphor sample in order to control the crystal structure, lattice constant, and crystallite size. Accordingly, the present inventors have conducted research and have come up with a method for producing a phosphor capable of controlling the oxygen concentration in the phosphor sample, and will be described below.
- the oxygen contamination source in the stage before firing may be oxygen contained in the raw material, oxygen adhering to a crucible, or the like. It is essential to reduce the amount of oxygen. However, it is difficult to remove all the oxygen.
- the present inventors perform decomposition and nitridation of the raw material by removing the oxygen by setting the atmosphere gas in the firing furnace to a high-temperature reducing atmosphere in the firing stage in the phosphor production. I came up with a composition.
- the pressure of the firing furnace is set in the atmosphere in the atmosphere. It is preferable to be in a pressurized state so that no oxygen is mixed. However, if the pressurization exceeds 0.1 IMPa, a special pressure-resistant design is required in the design of the furnace equipment. Therefore, considering the productivity, the pressurization is preferably 0. IMPa or less. Further, when the pressure is increased, sintering between the phosphor particles proceeds excessively, and pulverization after firing may become difficult.
