Description
本発明は、概して運動履行監視システムおよび方法に関する。本発明による運動履行監視システムおよび方法の少なくともいくつかの例は、全地球測位衛星データ(「GPSデータ」)を利用して、任意に運動履行(たとえば、運動競技、練習、ワークアウト、訓練セッションなど)の前、運動履行時、および/または運動履行の後に運動選手および/または運動選手によって使用される装備にデータおよび情報を提供する。

本発明によるシステムに含めることのできる補助センサ群の一例は、GPS監視システムならびに加速度計ベースまたはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離モニタを組み合わせて使用することに関する。従来のGPSシステムは、様々な時間および/または位置、たとえば、木の周囲、高いビル、屋内、アンテナが遮断されるときなどにおいて衛星が機能停止に陥る。さらに、通常、GPSシステムが最初に電源を入れられたときに「ウォーム・スタート」または「コールド・スタート」衛星取得時間として比較的長い時間がかかる。GPSシステムは、読み取りを行うときに実質的な電力を使用する傾向もある。加速度計ベースまたはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離監視システムは、一方では、本来システム精度が低い(たとえば、センサ・ドリフト、取り付けエラー、および/または通常、3つの加速度直交軸が検知されないことによる)。さらに、加速度計ベースまたはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離監視システムは、絶対位置および/または高度情報を提供することができない。通常、加速度計ベースまたはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離監視システムは、特定のユーザおよび/または取り付け位置向けに較正され、したがって、使用が難しくなり、広範囲の使用条件の下では精度が低下する。
本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例による単一のシステムに含めることのできる補助センサ群の他の例は、GPS監視システム(または加速度計ベースまたはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離モニタ)と気圧センサを組み合わせて使用することに関する。気圧センサは、(たとえば、運動選手が移動する際の)様々な位置における気圧ならびに/あるいは経時的な圧力変化および/または移動全体にわたる圧力変化を求めることができ、このような気圧センサは高度と相関付けることができるが、気圧センサだけで様々な考えられる圧力変化原因を区別することはできない。たとえば、圧力変化が、天候および/または大気条件の変化によって起こったのか、ユーザの高度の変化によって起こったのかなどを気圧センサで区別することはできない。GPSシステムは、少なくともいくつかの例では、高度データを提供するが、この高度データは通常、いくらか不正確である。従来のGPSシステムは天候を監視しない。
本発明の実施例による運動履行監視システムおよび方法は、ランニングまたはウォーキング型の運動履行(たとえば、歩数計を使用してデータを収集することのできる履行)での使用に制限されない。本発明による単一のシステムまたは方法に含めることのできる補助センサ群の他の例は、GPS監視システムを自転車上のスピードメータのような従来のスピードメータと組み合わせて使用することに関する。従来のスピードメータは、正確な速度および距離データを提供するが、高度または絶対位置情報は提供しない。一方、GPSシステムは、速度、距離、高度、および絶対位置情報を提供するが、上述のように、GPSシステムは、衛星信号が失われることによって機能停止に陥ったり、電池電力をかなり消耗したりする。これらのシステムの組み合わせを使用して速度、距離、高度、および位置データを提供することができ、たとえばGPSシステムが信号を得ていないときなどに、スピードメータを使用して運動選手に速度および距離情報を提供することができる。さらに必要に応じて、GPSシステムを控えめにまたは周期的に使用して電池電力を節約することができ、スピードメータを絶えず(または少なくともより頻繁に)使用してリアルタイム速度および距離情報を運動選手に提供することができる。必要に応じて、本発明の少なくともいくつかの例によるシステムおよび方法は単に、履行時のすべてのGPSデータを後でダウンロード、分析などができるように記憶しておくことができる。
上記に図1に関連して述べたように、本発明から逸脱せずに任意の数のセンサを組み合わせて使用することができる。本発明による単一のシステムまたは方法に含めることのできる補助センサ群の他の例は、GPS監視システム、加速度計またはその他の歩数計ベースの速度および距離モニタ、および磁気コンパスを組み合わせて使用することを含む。
本発明の少なくともいくつかの例による運動履行監視システムおよび方法に使用できる補助センサの組み合わせの他の例には、高度センサ(GPSまたは気圧センサ・ベース)、心拍モニタ、ならびに速度および距離モニタ(GPS、加速度計、またはその他の歩数計ベース)の組み合わせが含まれる。現在利用可能な心拍モニタは、「リアルタイム」心拍データを表示し、少なくともいくつかのデータを今後の分析のためにメモリに記憶することができる。いくつかの現在利用可能なシステムは、少なくともいくつかの速度および/または距離データを記憶することもできる。欠落する1つの重要なデータは高度である。運動選手、トレーナー、またはコーチは、記憶されているデータを受信したときに、運動選手の心拍が上昇し、および/または運動選手の速度が低下したことを知ることができるが、現在、これらが生理学的な症状の結果であるのか、または運動選手が実際には険しい坂を上っているのかなどを、記憶されているデータから判定することはできない。高度データを心拍ならびに速度および距離データと組み合わせることによって、運動選手、トレーナー、またはコーチは運動選手のワークアウト状況をより完全に把握し、心拍、ペースなどの変化の物理学的な理由をより適切に確認することができる。

本発明によるシステムおよび方法の少なくともいくつかの実施例で利用可能な他の局面は、GPSモニタ、物理学的モニタ、および/または生理学的モニタのうちの1つまたは複数から与えられた入力を使用して、運動履行時にユーザに示される印刷、オーディオ、および/またはビデオ出力の内容を少なくとも部分的に決定する媒体再生装置を含む。本発明のこの局面では、MP3プレーヤー、ビデオ装置、オーディオ装置、携帯電話、PDA、警報器、ポケット・ベルなどのような、任意の種類の印刷、オーディオ、および/またはビデオ・ディスプレイ装置を使用することができる。本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例では、この印刷、オーディオ、および/またはビデオ・ディスプレイ装置は、上記に図1に関連して説明した携帯/着用可能ディスプレイ110を形成する。
本発明の他の局面は、運動履行時に収集された履行データ分析および処理を含む履行後の分析および処理に関する。さらに、本発明の局面は、本発明によるシステムおよび方法の少なくともいくつかの例示的な局面で使用されるディスプレイおよび/または視覚化に関する。本発明から逸脱せずに、視覚ディスプレイ上に任意の種類のセンサ・データおよび/またはセンサ・データの組み合わせを示すことができ、本発明から逸脱せずに入力データを任意の所望の方法で分析し処理することができるが、処理およびデータ・ディスプレイの様々な特定の例について以下に詳しく説明する。当業者には、このようなより具体的な説明が、本発明によって有用な適切な処理、分析、およびディスプレイの例に過ぎないことが理解されよう。さらに、当業者には、パーソナル・コンピュータ、携帯電話、PDA、ミュージックまたはビデオ・プレーヤー、自転車搭載ディスプレイなど用のディスプレイ装置のような、携帯および非携帯装置上のディスプレイを含む、任意の適切なまたは所望のディスプレイ構成またはシステムの一部として、後述のすべてのディスプレイが提供されうることが理解されよう。
図2は、本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例によって運動選手、運動選手のコーチ、および/または運動選手のトレーナーにデータおよび情報を提供することのできる例示的なディスプレイまたはスクリーンショット200を示している。このスクリーンショット200は、パーソナル・コンピュータ、携帯電話ディスプレイ、PDA装置、ミュージックまたはビデオ・プレーヤー、自転車搭載ディスプレイ、または任意の他の携帯装置もしくは所望の装置などの、任意の適切なディスプレイ構成またはシステムの一部として提供されうる。
図3は、本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例によるシステムおよび方法における運動履行データの処理および/またはディスプレイの他の例を示している。この例において、スクリーンショットまたはディスプレイ300では、運動履行に関するデータの少なくともいくつかが、運動履行が行われた位置に対応する二次元地図データに重ね合わせられる(または他の方法で二次元地図データ上に示される)。もちろん、本発明から逸脱せずに、複数回の運動履行に関するデータを、スクリーンショット300のディスプレイ内に同時に表示するかまたはその他の方法で利用可能にすることができる。
図4は、本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例によるシステムおよび方法における運動履行データの処理および/または表示の他の例を示している。この例では、スクリーンショットまたはディスプレイ400は、経路402に沿った高度変化を少なくとも概略的に示す経路402の三次元地形ディスプレイを介して提供される少なくとも相対高度情報を有する経路402のグラフィカル表現を示している。図4に示されているディスプレイ400のようなディスプレイを組み立てるための生データを提供するために、運動履行監視システムは、運動選手の絶対位置および高度対時間(または距離)に関する定期的(かつ頻繁)なデータを、たとえばGPSモニタまたはその他の適切なシステムを介して、監視しおよび/または提供する。少なくともいくつかの例では、経路402に沿った位置に対応する地形データと共に得られる経路の交差を得ることにより(たとえば、地形地図データ、高度センサ、GPSデータなどから)、図4のディスプレイ400に示されている経路402の三次元ビューをコンピュータ・システムによって「組み立てる」かまたは決定することができる。
図5は、本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例によるシステムおよび方法における運動履行データの処理および/またはディスプレイの他の例を示している。この例は、少なくともいくつかの点で、図3および4に示されているディスプレイの概念的な組み合わせを含み、運動選手の経路の三次元高度モデルまたは表現を実現する。より具体的には、図5のスクリーンショットまたはディスプレイ500は、三次元または地形地図502を背景として示し、運動履行時(または複数回の履行時)に使用された経路504は、運動履行時に収集されたデータから(たとえば、GPSによって収集されたデータから)得た地図データに重ね合わせられる。
図6は、本発明の少なくともいくつかの実施例によるシステムおよび方法における運動履行データの処理および/またはディスプレイの他の例を示している。この例示的なシステムおよび方法は、動画競技「再生」特性を有する、すでに記録されている1回または複数回の運動履行のディスプレイ600上での視覚化を含む。本発明から逸脱せずに、地図データ、地形地図データなどのような任意の背景を設けることができるが、図示の例では、背景602は、履行に関与する実際の地形の動画ビューを示している。例として、競技再生モードでは、ユーザは、再生速度を選択し、「再生」ボタン604を押し、次に「仮想」運動選手606を見て、地図602上の背景地形上に競技を再生することができる。再生中に、仮想運動選手606が走行する経路に沿った位置での運動履行に関連する様々な測定された時間、距離、物理学的および/または生理学的パラメータの瞬間値を示すインジケータ608(たとえば、図3および5に示されているインジケータまたはその他の所望のインジケータのような)を使用することができる。
本発明によるいくつかの例示的なシステムおよび方法に含まれる他の局面には「フライバイ」動画が含まれる。このようなシステムおよび方法は、三次元地図または地形データを含むディスプレイのような、上述の種類のデータ・ディスプレイを利用することができる。上記に図6に関連して説明した本発明の例では、ユーザのために競技または運動履行を再生したが、これらのシステムおよび方法では、ユーザの視点が固定され静止していた。本発明の本局面および例による「フライバイ」動画は、ユーザが自分の視点を移動させ(たとえば、カメラからのビュー)、ユーザが選択した方法で再生される履行の後を追うのを可能にする。
本発明による少なくともいくつかのシステムおよび方法に含まれる他の局面は、運動競技または履行の前および/またはその間にGPSデータを使用してペース調整を助けることに関する。現在、運動選手、運動選手のコーチ、および/または運動選手のトレーナーは、レースまたは経路の標的スプリット・タイム(たとえば、ランドマーク、ベンチマーク、特定の距離などまでの時間)を手動で決定することができ、このようなスプリット・タイムは、経路上の特定の地形を考慮に入れるように調整することができる。たとえば、マラソンを始める前に、所定の標的ゴール時間を定めることができ、次に、上り坂および/または下り坂の地形変化、レース中の時間などについて調整された各マイル・スプリット・タイムを与えるレース・プランを立てることができる。通常、このようなスプリット・タイムは、レース中に運動選手の手首に着用されるブレスレット上に印刷される。
本発明の他の局面は、ランニングに関連する「パワー」パラメータの判定、使用、およびディスプレイに関する。自転車レースおよび様々な他の形態の運動では、運動選手の消費されるパワーの量対時間を測定する装置が利用可能である。自転車レースでは、このパラメータは、自転車タイヤ転がり抵抗、風圧抵抗、高度に対する移動質量、回転構成部材および非回転構成要素についての慣性の変化などに打ち勝つために自転車選手が消費するパワーに相当するかまたはこのパワーに関する。たとえばペダル、クランク、またはチェーンによって、自転車選手によって消費されるパワーに関する情報を得るいくつかの好都合な方法があるため、自転車選手についてこのパラメータを測定するのは比較的容易である。靴に伝達されるパワーを正確に測定するのが困難であるため、ランニングには同等の「パワー」測定パラメータはない。
当業者には理解されるように、本発明の局面は、固体回路などの電子回路を使用して実施することができる。しかし、本発明の様々な例および局面は、プログラム可能なコンピューティング装置によって実行されるソフトウェア・プログラム・モジュールなどのコンピュータ実行可能命令を使用して実現することができる。本発明のこれらの実施例および局面をソフトウェアを使用して実現できるため、本発明のこのような実施例および局面を使用できる代表的なプログラム可能なコンピュータ・システムの構成要素および動作について説明する。特に、プログラム可能なコンピュータの構成要素および動作について、図7を参照して説明する。しかし、この動作環境は、適切な動作環境の一例に過ぎず、本発明の使用範囲または機能に関する制限を示すものではない。

Claims (12)
- 運動履行時に遭遇した一連のタイム・スタンプ付き位置点に関するデータを得る全地球測位衛星受信機と、
全地球測位衛星受信機を介して得られたデータに少なくとも部分的に基づいて、運動履行時に運動選手が移動した移動速度または移動距離の少なくとも1つに関連する、出力を提供する、第1のセンサと、
運動履行時に、メディアコンテンツの媒体再生を運動選手に提供する、媒体再生装置と、
運動選手の物理的な移動を検出するように構成された第2のセンサであって、運動選手によって履行された1つまたは複数の所定の手振りに沿って、動作制御入力を媒体再生装置に提供する、第2のセンサ
とを含む、携帯可能な運動履行監視システムであって、
該第1のセンサは、運動選手の移動速度に比例して、該媒体再生装置によって再生されるメディアコンテンツの媒体再生速度を調整するように構成されている、
携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。 - メディアコンテンツが媒体再生装置によって再生されている時、そのオーディオビートが運動選手の移動速度に同期すべく調整されるように、第1のセンサは、該メディアコンテンツの媒体再生速度を調整するように構成されている、請求項1記載の携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。

- 第1のセンサが、経路に沿った条件に基づき、接近している経路のカーブに関する情報、経路に沿った接近している地形変化に関する情報、経路の坂に関する情報、および自転車のギアに関する情報からなる群から選択された少なくとも1つの要素に関するオーディオ出力を提供すべく媒体再生装置を制御するように構成されている、請求項1記載の携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。
- 第1のセンサが運動履行時に運動選手の少なくとも1つの特徴を検出するように構成されとともに、該媒体再生装置が該第1のセンサを介して得られたデータに、少なくとも部分的に基づき、該メディアコンテンツの媒体再生速度を調整するように構成された、請求項1記載の携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。
- 第1のセンサが運動履行時に運動選手の少なくとも1つの特徴を検出するように構成されとともに、媒体再生装置が、該第1のセンサによって得られた出力データに基づき、オーディオ警報または視覚警報を運動履行時の運動選手に提供するようにさらに構成されている、請求項1記載の携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。

第1のセンサは、運動履行時に運動選手が接近する位置が、安全でない経路条件を有する場所であるとき、経路条件に関して安全情報または警告情報を運動選手に提供するために、運動履行時に媒体再生装置によって再生されるメディアコンテンツの少なくとも1つの特徴を調整するように構成されている、
携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。 - 前記安全情報または警告情報が、経路に沿った条件に基づき、接近している経路のカーブに関する情報、経路に沿った接近している地形変化に関する情報、経路の坂に関する情報、および自転車のギアに関する情報からなる群から選択された少なくとも1つの要素に関する関する情報を含む、請求項11記載の携帯可能な運動履行監視システム。
