Abstract

Disclosed is a method of tracking at least one moving object (4) traversing a predefined course. Line-of-sight EM- radiation (3) is emitted from at least one beacon (2), located to provide a means of reference for the at least one moving object. At least one image is captured including a representation of the transmitted EM radiation (3) by digital image recording at one or more of a plurality of predetermined locations relative to the predefined course. Position information is extracted regarding the at least one transmitting beacon (2) from the at least one captured image relative to each frame of the captured image. Each extracted position is then referenced with predetermined survey data of the predefined course to produce referenced position data from which a model of the path traversed by the at least one moving object (4) on the predefined course is generated.
