Abstract
본 발명의 광학 기록 매체는 제1정보면을 갖는 제1기판과; 이 제1기판의 제1정보면에 형성되는 반투명한 반사막과; 제2정보면을 갖는 제2기판과; 이 제2기판의 제2정보면에 형성된 반사막과; 제1정보면과 제2정보면이 서로 면하도록 상기 제1기판과 상기 제2기판을 접착시키는 접착층을 구비하는데, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 0.56mm 이상이고, 접착층의 두께는 30㎛ 이상이며, 제1기판과 접착층의 전체 두께는 0.68mm 이하인 것을 특징으로 한다.

본 발명은 광선(light beam)이 기록매체에 집중되고 이 기록매체에서 반사되는 광을 검출함으로써 정보가 재생되는 광기록매체에 관한 것으로, 특히 이중 정보면을 갖는 광기록매체에 관한 것이다.
최근, 광학 기록 매체가 음항 정보 데이터, 화상 정보 데이터 및 여러 정보 장치 데이터를 저장하기 위한 수단으로 더욱 주목받고 있는 바, 이는 대량의 정보를 저장하고 재생할 수 있기 때문이다. 광학 기록 매체의 용량을 증대시키면서 광 기록, 재생 장치의 크기를 줄이려는 요구가 계속되고 있다. 이러한 요구에 부응하기 위해 광학 기록 매체의 저장용량은 더욱 증가될 필요가 있다.
하나의 정보면만을 갖는 콤팩트 디스크(CD)는 통상 읽기 전용 광학 기록 매체로 알려져 있다. CD는 1.2mm의 두께로 디스크 형상의 수지 기판의 표면에 형성되는 철부 및 요부(피트(pits))로 구성된 나선 모양의 정보 트랙을 포함하고 있다. 알루미늄 등으로 제조된 반사막과 보호막은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 기판의 정보면에 형성된다. 이어서 식별 라벨이 보호막에 인쇄된다.
이러한 CD의 저장용량은 CD가 하나의 저장면만을 갖기 때문에 용량이 작다. 저장용량을 증대시키기 위해 5 자기 광학(MO) 디스크와 같이 2장의 디스크를 서로 접착시킨 기록매체가 상용화되어 왔다. 5" MO 디스크는 하나의 정보면(단면 디스크)만을 갖는 디스크와 2 개의 정보면(배면 디스크)을 갖는 다스크의 2가지 유형으로 분류되고 있다. 단면 디스크는 1.2 mm 두께의 디스크 형상의 수지기판의 표면에 형성된 요면과 철면으로 구성된 나선 모양의 안내홈을 가지고 있다. 유전막, 자기 광학 기록 재료막, 다른 유전막 및 알루미늄 등으로 제조된 반사막은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 기판의 정보면에 순서대로 형성된다. 다음에, 1.2 mm 두께의 다른 수지 기판이 반사막에 접착된다. 양면 디스크는 1.2mm 두께의 디스크 형상의 수지 기판의 표면에 형성된 요면과 철면으로 구성된 나선 모양의 안내홈을 가지고 있다. 유전막, 자기 광학 기록 재료막, 다른 유전막 및 알루미늄 등으로 제조된 반사막은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 기판의 정보면에 순서대로 형성된다. 이렇게 제조된 디스크에는 동일한 방법으로 제조된 다른 하나의 디스크가 접착된다. 통상 5" MO 디스크 기록/재생장치는 기록 및 재생을 수행하기 위해 단면 디스크와 양면 디스크 모두를 수용할 수 있도록 설계된다. 유저는 기록될 정보가 적을 때는 단면 디스크를 기록될 정보가 많을 때는 양면 디스크를 선택할 수 있다. 5" MO 디스크 장치에는 대개 하나의 광학 헤드만이 설치된다. 따라서 양면디스크가 사용되는 경우, 이 디스크가 기록 및 재생을 계속하기 위해서는 배출시키거나 뒤집을 필요가 있다.
일반적으로 기록매체의 정보밀도는 정보 트랙의 피치와, 트랙 방향의 정보 밀도 즉, 정보의 선밀도에 의해 결정된다. 기록 매체의 정보 밀도를 증가시키기 위해서는 트랙의 피치가 작아야 하고 반면에 선밀도는 커야 한다. 예를 들어, 디스크의 틸트(tilt)로 인한 기판을 통과하는 광빔의 차(aberration)를 줄이도록 최근 0.6 mm로 기판의 두께를 줄임으로써 광학적 기록 매체의 밀도를 증가시키려는 연구가 계속되고 있다.
그러나, 상기 종래의 기술은 다음의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 종래의 양면 광학 기록 매체의 경우에는 기록매체의 상부면과 하부면 모두에 정보를 기록하도록 또는 기록된 정보를 재생하도록 광빔에 의해 조명된다면 식별 라벨을 프린트하기 위해 기록매체의 면의 좌측에 작은 스페이스가 있다. 이는 기록매체를 취급시 편리하다. 또한, 종래의 양면 기록 매체가 하나의 광학 헤드만을 갖는 광학 재생 장치를 위해 사용된다면 광학 기록 매체는 재생을 계속하기 위해 장치로부터 제거되거나 뒤접어질 필요가 있다. 재생을 자동으로 계속하기 위해 기록 매체의 상부와 하부에 2 개의 광학 헤드가 요구된다. 2 개의 광학 헤드를 가진 장치는 크기가 크고 고가이다.
다른 문제는 종래의 광학 기록 매체 보다 큰 새로운 광학 기록 매체가 밀도를 증가시켜 상용화될 때 이 새로운 광학 기록 매체는 종래의 기록/재생 장치와 호환되지 않는다는 것이다.
본 발명의 광학 기록 매체는 제1정보면을 갖는 제1기판과, 상기 제1기판의 제1정보면에 형성되는 반투명의 반사막과, 제2정보면을 갖는 제2기판과, 상기 제2기판의 제2정보면에 형성되는 반사막 및, 제1정보면과 제2정보면이 서로 대향하도록 제1기판과 제2기판을 접착시킨 접착층을 포함하고 있으며, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 0.56 mm 이상이고, 접착층의 두께는 30 ㎛ 이상이며, 제1기판과 접착층의 전체 두께는 0.68 mm 이하이다.
일 실시예에서 제1기판의 두께는 0.56mm 내지 0.6mm 의 범위 내에 있고, 접착층의 두께는 40㎛ 내지 60㎛의 범위 내에 있다.
다른 실시예에서 기록 재료막은 정보의 기록과 재생을 위해 제2기판의 반사막상에 형성된다.
다른 실시예에서 기록 재료막은 위상 변화형 기록 재료로 형성된다. 다른 실시예에서 제2기판의 표면에 라벨이 형성된다.
다른 실시예에서 나선 모양의 트랙이 제1 및 제2기판상에 각각 형성되고, 제1기판상의 나선 모양의 트랙 정보의 방향은 제2기판의 나선 모양 트랙의 정보 방향과 동일하며, 이때 나선 모양의 트랙이 제1정보면에 대향하는 제1기판의 표면의 측면에 나타나 있다.
다른 실시예에서 나선 모양의 트랙이 제1 및 제2기판에 각각 형성되고, 제1기판상의 나선 모양 트랙의 정보의 방향은 제2기판의 나선 모양 트랙의 정보 방향과 반대이며, 이때 나선 모양의 트랙이 제1정보면에 대향하는 제1기판의 표면의 측면에 나타나 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 광학 기록 매체는 제1정보면을 갖는 제1기판과; 상기 제2기판의 제1정보면에 형성된 반투명한 반사막과, 제2정보면을 갖는 제2기판과, 상기 제2기판의 제2정보면에 형성되는 반사막 및, 제1기판의 제1정보면이 제2정보면에 대향하는 제2기판의 표면과 대향하도록 제1기판과 제2기판을 접착시키는 접착층을 포함하고 있으며, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 제2기판의 두께와 거의 동일한 것을 특징으로 한다.
또한, 본 발명의 광학 기록 매체는 제1정보면을 갖는 제제4기판과, 상기 제1기판의 제1정보면에 형성된 반투명한 반사막과, 제2정보면을 갖는 제2기판과, 상기 제2기판의 제2정보면에 형성되는 반사막과, 제1기판의 제1정보면이 제2정보면에 대향하는 제2기판의 표면과 대향하도록 제1기판과 제2기판을 접착시키는 접착층 및, 제2기판의 반사막상에 형성되는 라벨을 포함하고 있으며, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 제2기판의 두께와 거의 동일한 것을 특징으로 한다.
따라서, 본 발명은 다음과 같은 이점을 제공한다.
(1) 라벨이 기록 매체의 표면에 용이하게 인쇄될 수 있고, 정보가 하나의 광학 헤드를 사용하여 자동적으로 재생될 수 있으며, 하나의 정보면을 갖는 광학 기록 매체와 함께 사용할 수 있는 호환성이 확보된다.
(2) 종래의 기준과는 다른 두께인 기판을 갖지만 광학 기록 매체에 저장되는 정보가 재생될 수 있도록 종래의 장치와 호환되는 광학 기록 매체가 제공된다.
당 업자라면 첨부한 도면을 참조한 다음의 상세한 설명으로부터 본 발명의 이러한 이점을 이해할 수 있을 것이다.
[실시예]
도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 실시예를 설명한다.
[실시예 1]
제1도는 본 발명에 따른 제1실시예의 광학 기록 매체(101)를 나타내는 개략적인 단면도이다. 광학 기록 매체(101)는 서로 접착되는 제1광디스크(102)와 제2광디스크(103)로 구성되는 단면 읽기형 기록매체이다. 이러한 광학 기록매체는 디지털 비디오 디스크(DVD)처럼 우수한 성능을 제공할 수 있다.
제1광디스크(102)는 제1정보면(105)을 갖는 디스크 형상의 제1기판(104)을 가지며, 이 경우 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성되는 나선 모양의 정보 트랙이 형성된다. 반투명한 제1반사막(106)은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 제1기판(104)의 제1정보면(105)에 형성된다. 반투명인 제1반사막(106)은 예를 들어 금(Au)과 알루미늄(Al) 등으로 형성된다. 재생을 위해 레이저광의 일부를 반사시키는 특성을 갖도록 제1반사막(106)이 제공되며, 이하 상술되는 바와 같이 나머지 광이 투과된다. 이러한 특성을 실현시키기 위해 반사막의 적절한 재료의 선택 뿐만아니라 적절한 두께로 반사막의 두께를 조정할 필요가 있다. 제1반사막(106)의 두께는 5 내지 20 nm 의 범위 내에 있는 것이 바람직하다. 제1실시예에서 반사막(106)의 두께는 10nm 이다.
제2광디스크(103)는 제2정보면(108)을 갖는 디스크 형상의 제2기판(107)을 포함하고 있으며, 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성된 나선 모양의 트랙이 형성된다. 제2반사막(109)은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 제2기판(107)의 제2정보면(108)에 형성된다. 제2반사막(109)은 알루미늄(Al) 등으로 형성된다.
정보는 고밀도를 갖는 제1 및 제2정보면(105,108) 즉, 약 0.74㎛의 트랙피치와 약 0.4㎛ 길이의 최소 피트에 기록된다. 제2반사막(109)의 두께는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 피트가 제2반사막(109)에 잘 반사될 수 있도록 제2정보면(108)에 형성되는 피트의 길이보다 작다. 특히 제2반사막(109)의 두께는 30내지 150nm 내의 범위 내에 있는 것이 바람직하다. 제1실시예에서 제2반사막(109)의 두께는 50nm 이다.
제1도에 나타낸 바와 같이 2 개의 광디스크를 접착시키기 위해 제1광디스크 (102)와 제2광디스크(103) 사이에 접착층(110)이 형성된다. 접착층(110)은 예를 들어 아크릴계 자외선 경화제로 형성된다. 이러한 UV 경화제는 광디스크(102,103) 중 적어도 하나에 공급된다. 다음에 2 개의 광디스크(102,103)는 UV 경화제를 통해 서로 접착되고, UV 광선을 조사하여 UV 경화제를 경화시켜서, 2 개의 광디스크를 접착시킨다. 다른 열경화성 접착제가 또한 UV 경화제대신에 사용될 수도 있다.
제2광디스크(103)의 표면에 라벨(111)이 부착된다. 구동 모터에 광학 기록 매체 (101)를 탑재하기 위해 광학 기록 매체(101)의 중앙에 구멍(112)(내경 15mm)이 형성된다.
다시 제2a도와 제2b도를 참조하여 제1 및 제2정보면(105,108)에 기록되는 정보의 재생을 설명한다.
제2a도는 제1정보면(105)에 기록된 정보가 판독되는 경우이고, 제2b도는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 정보가 판독되는 경우를 나타내고 있다. 평행한 광빔(201)은 포커싱렌즈(202)에 의해 집중되어 라벨(101)의 측면에 대향하는 측면 즉, 제1기판(104)의 측면으로부터 광학 기록 매체(101)를 조사한다.
포커싱렌즈(202)는 두께가 0.6 mm 인 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체를 사용하기 위해 설계되었다.
따라서, 두께가 0.6 mm 인 기판을 갖는 하나의 정보면이 있는 종래의 디스크가 포커싱렌즈(202)에 적용될 수도 있다.
제2a도를 참조하면, 제1정보면(105)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 광빔(201)은 공지된 포커싱 제어 기술에 의해 제1정보면(105)에 집중되도록 제어된다. 제1반사막(106)으로부터 반사된 광빔(203)은 스플리터(204)를 통해 광검출기(205)에 의해 검출된다. 제2b도를 참조하면, 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 광빔(201)은 공지된 포커싱 제어 기술에 의해 제2정보면(109)에 집중되도록 제어된다. 제2반사막(109)으로부터 반사된 광빔(206)은 광검출기(205)에 의해 검출되고 따라서 정보가 판독된다. 광학 기록 매체(101)에 기록된 정보의 재생을 위해 광빔(201)의 파장은 650nm 이어야 하며, 포커싱 렌즈(202)의 개구 수치(NA)는 약 0.6 이 되어야 한다.
제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때 제2a도에 나타낸 바와 같이 반사된 광빔(203,206)은 포커싱 렌즈(202)를 통과해서 광검출기(205)에 의해 수신된다. 그러나, 제2반사막(109)에 형성된 광빔(201)의 스폿 크기는 수십 마이크로미터 정도이며, 이는 트랙 피치(0.8㎛)와 최소의 피트 길이(0.5㎛) 보다현저히 큰 것이다. 다수의 피트는 광빔(201)에 의해 조사된다. 따라서, 반사된 광빔(206)은 별도의 피트 정보 성분을 거의 포함하지 않으며, 피트가 전혀 형성되지 않는 경우 빔이 표면으로부터 반사되는 것처럼 실질적으로 일정량의 광빔을 가지고 있다. 더욱이, 반사된 광빔(206)의 일부만이 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과하고, 이 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과한 반사된 광빔(206)의 나머지는 제4하게 형성되지 않는다. 따라서, 광검출기(205)에 도달된 광빔(206)의 나머지 광량은 적다. 따라서, 광검출기(205)에 의해 검출된 피트 정보는 대체로 제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 피트에 의해 변조된 성분으로 구성된다.
제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때, 제2b도에 나타낸 바와 같이 반사된 광빔(203,206)이 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과해서 광검출기(205)에 의해 수신된다. 그러나, 상기 경우에서 처럼 제1반사막(106)에 형성되는 광빔(201)의 스폿 크기는 수십 마이크로미터 정도이고 이는 상당히 큰 것으로서 복수의 피트를 조사한다. 따라서, 반사된 광빔(203)은 개별적인 피트 정보 성분을 거의 포함하지 않는다. 더욱이, 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과한 반사된 광빔(203)의 일부가 동시에 형성되지 않기 때문에 광검출기(205)에 도달한 광빔의 나머지 광량은 적다. 따라서, 광검출기(205)에 의해 검출된 피트 정보는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 피트에 의해 변조된 성분으로 거의 구성된다.
다음에, 제1 및 제2반사막(106,109) 사이의 반사율이 설명된다. 제1정보면 (105)에 기록되는 정보가 판독되는 경우에 제1반사막(106)의 굴절율이 더 높기 때문에 반사된 광빔(203)의 광량이 더 크고 그 결과 재생신호의 양이 보다 많다. 그러나, 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 판독되는 경우에 제1반사막(106)의 굴절율이 더 높기 때문에 제1반사막(106)을 통과하는 광빔(201)의 광량이 더욱 적다. 제2반사막(109)으로부터 반사된 광빔(206)은 다시 제1반사막(106)을 통과하기 때문에 반사된 광빔(206)의 광량은 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 추가로 감소된다. 즉, 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 판독되는 경우에 광빔은제2반사막(109)에 도달하도록 제1기판(104)과, 제1반사막(106) 및 접착층(110)을 통과한다. 다음제42반사막(109)으로부터 반사된 광빔(206)은 접착층(110)과, 제1반사막(106) 및 제1기판(104)을 통과한다. 따라서, 광은 제1반사막(106)을 2 회 통과한다. 따라서, 제1반사막(106)의 굴절율이 높다면 반사된 광빔(206)의 광량은 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 작아진다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해 본 발명에 따른 제1실시예의 광학 기록매체(101)에서 제1 및 제2반사막(106,109)의 굴절율은 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 반사된 광빔(206)의 광량 P2가 제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 반사되는 광빔(203)의 광량 P3와 동일하게 설정된다. 이 경우, 관계식은 k2= k/(1-k1)2으로 표현되고, k1은 제1반사막(106)의 굴절율이고 k2는 제2반사막(109)의 굴절율이다.
이러한 표현은 다음의 방법으로 얻어진다. 제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 반사된 광빔(203)의 광량 P1은 P1= P0× k1으로 표현된다. 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 반사된 광빔(206)의 광량 P2는 P2=P0× k2(1-k1)2로 표현된다. P1= P2이므로 상기의 표현이 얻어진다. 반사율 k1과 K2는 입사광량에 대하여 반사된 광량의 퍼센티지로 나타난다. 특히 제1실시예의 광학 기록 매체(101)에서 제1반사막(106)의 굴절율은 20 내지 30% 의 범위이고, 반면에 제2반사막(109)의 굴절율은 60% 이상이다. 제2반사막(109)의 굴절율은 가능한 높은 것이 바람직하다. 알루미늄과 같은 저렴한 재료를 사용하는 100%에 가까운 굴절율을 실현하기 위해 막의 두께는 약 0.6 내지 0.8 ㎛가 될 필요가 있다. 고밀도 광디스크가 약 0.5㎛ 의 피트 높이를 갖기 때문에 0.6 내지 0.8㎛ 두께 정도의 반사율은 반사막으로의 정보면의 전송레벨을 낮춘다. 전송레벨이 낮아지는 것을 방지하기 위해 제2반사막(109)의 두께는 제2정보면(108)의 피치 길이, 즉 0.5㎛와 동일하거나 또는 이보다 낮으며, 따라서 반사율은 60% 이상이다.
다음에 포커싱렌즈(202)에 의해 집중되는 광빔의 수차(aberration)를 설명한다. 제1실시예의 광학 기록 매체(101)에서 제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보가 판독될 때의 광빔(201)의 광경로 길이와 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 판독될 때의 광경로의 길이는 제1반사막(106)의 두께와 접착층(110)의 두께 t0의 전체만큼 다르다. 제1반사막(106)의 두께가 제1실시예의 광학 기록 매체(101)에서 0.5㎛ 이하이기 때문에 무시될 수 있다. 광기록 경로 즉, 광빔이 통과하는 두께가 변할 때 포커싱렌즈(202)에 의해 집중되는 광빔(201)은 수차를 발생시킬 수 있다. 수차는 포커싱렌즈(202)의 NA 의 약 4 제곱에 비례하여 커진다.
제1기판(104)의 포커싱렌즈(202)와 두께 t1간의 관계를 설명한다. 여기서 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1은 제1반사막(106)의 두께가 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 접착층(110)의 두께 t0와 비교해서 무시할 수 있기 때문에 제1반사막(106)의 두께를 포함하는 것으로 간주된다.
일반적으로 포커싱렌즈(202)는 광디스크의 기판 두께를 고려하여 설계된다. 제1정보면을 갖는 기판의 두께가 0.6㎜ 일 때 포커싱렌즈(202)는 0.6㎜ 기판 두께에 기초해서 설계된다. 0.6㎜ 두께 t1의 제1기판(104)을 갖는 광학 기록 매체(101)가 포커싱렌즈(202)를 사용하여 재생될 때, 제1정보면(105)에 기록되어 있는 정보가 판독되는 경우에 아무런 문제도 발생하지 않는다. 그러나, 제2정보면(108)에 기록되어 있는 정보가 판독될 때 접착층(110)의 두께는 제1기판(104)의 두께에 부가된다. 즉, 접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 40㎛이면 상기 40㎛는 0.6㎜인 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1에 부가된다. 이는 0.64㎜ 의 기판이 이용되는 경우와 실질적으로 동일하다. 따라서 제2정보면(108)에 기록되어 있는 정보가 판독될 때 수차가 증가한다.
이는 재생된 신호의 특성을 낮춘다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해 0.6㎜ 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 포커싱렌즈(202)가 사용될 때 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1은 표준인 0.58㎜로 제조된다. 다음에, 2배의 정보면을 갖는 광학 기록 매체의 기판 두께는 하나의 정보면을 갖는 광학 기록 매체의 표면의 두께보다 약간 두껍게 제조된다. 이 결과로서 제1정보면(105)에 기록되어 있는 정보가 판독될 때의 기판 두께는 0.58㎜이고, 반면에 제2정보면(108)에 기록되어 있는 정보가 판독될 때의 기판 두께는 0.62㎜ 이다. 후자의 경우에 기판의 두께는 제1기판(104)의 입시면과 제2정보면(108) 사이의 거리와 동일하다. 포커싱렌즈(202)에 대한 이들 두께와 설계치 사이의 차이는 둘다 20㎛ 이다. 따라서, 재생된 신호의 동일한 특성은 제1정보면(105)과 제2정보면(108)으로부터 얻어질 수 있다.
자연적으로 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 제조 처리시 접착층(110)의 두께 t0에 편차가 발생하지만, 상기 세팅과 함께 이들 편차의 허용치가 넓어진다.
제7a도 내지 제7c도를 참조하여 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 접착층(110)의 두께 t0사이의 관계를 설명한다. 제7a도 내지 제7c도는 여러 시험적으로 제조된 광학 기록 매체로부터 얻은 측정 결과를 나타내는 그래프이다. 이들 그래프의 X 축은 제1기판(104)과 정보면 사이의 거리이고, Y 축은 재생된 신호의 지터(jiitter)이다. 지터는 채널 클록 주기에 의해 재생된 신호에서 시간-축 변화의 표준 편차 값을 분할함으로써 얻어지는 값이다. 제7a도에서 0.56㎜, 0.57㎜, 0.62㎜, 0.63㎜ 의 두께 t1인 제1기판(104)을 갖는 제1광디스크(102)의 4 가지 유형이 시험적으로 제조되었다. 이들 각각의 제1광디스크(102)는 30㎛의 두께로 접착층(110)을 통해 제2광디스크(103)와 접착되었다. 이 결과적인 광학 기록 매체를 사용하는 정보의 재생이 수행되었고 지터가 측정되었다.
참조번호(71)는 제1정보면(105)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타내고, 반면에 참조번호(72)는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타낸다. 제7b도에서 0.56㎜, 0.57㎜, 0.56㎜, 0.61㎜ 의 두께 t1인 제1기판(104)을 갖는 제1광디스크(102)의 4 가지 유형이 시험적으로 제조되었다. 이들 각각의 제1광디스크(102)는 40㎛ 의 두께로 접착층(110)을 통해 제2광디스크(103)와 접착되었다. 이 결과적인 광학 기록 매체를 사용하여 정보의 재생이 수행되었고 지터가 측정되었다. 참조부호(73)는 제1정보면(105)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타내고, 반면에 참조부호(74)는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타낸다. 제7c도에는 0.61㎜, 0.62㎜, 0.63㎜ 의 두께 t1인 제1기판(104)을 갖는 제1광디스크(102)의 3 제4 유형이 시험적으로 제조되었다. 이들 각각의 제1광디스크(102)는 50㎛의 두께로 접착층(110)을 통해 제2광디스크(103)와 접착된다. 이 결과적인 광학 기록 매체를 사용하여 정보의 재생이 수행되었고 지터가 측정된다. 참조부호(75)는 제1정보면(105)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타내고, 반면에 참조부호(76)는 제2정보면(108)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 얻어지는 지터를 나타낸다.
일반적으로 디스크에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때는 디스크의 편향과 디센터링 (decentering), 외부에서 장치에 가해지는 진동과 쇼크 등으로 인해 디포커싱 (defocusing)과 오프-트랙킹(off-tracking)이 발생한다. 이들은 재생된 신호의 지터를 저하시킨다. 재생된 신호의 지터는 디스크와 광빔의 광축이 서로 경사질 때도 저하된다. 디스크의 이러한 휨(warp)은 습기와 같은 환경조건의 변화에 따라 변한다.
시간의 경과와 함께 각각의 광학헤드의 변화와 제조공정시 광학헤드간의 변화도 고려해야한다. 따라서, 신뢰성이 높은 광디스크에 기록된 정보를 재생하기위해 재생된 신호의 지터는 상기한 여러 요인으로 인해 지터의 저하를 고려하여 최대 약 10% 이다.
제7a도와 제7b도를 비교하면 다음을 알 수 있다.
접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 30㎛ 일 때 제1정보면으로부터 얻어지는 재생된 신호의 지터는 약간 변한다. 0.56㎜ 내지 0.63㎜ 인 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1의 변화에 상관없이 값은 약 9.5% 로 유지된다. 반대로 접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 40㎛ 일 때 제1정보면으로부터 얻어지는 재생된 신호의 지터는 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1이 얇기 때문에 보다 높아진다. 이는 접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 30㎛ 정도로 얇을 때, 제2정보면으로부터의 누설신호(leak signal)의 영향이 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1의 변화로 인한 수차의 영향보다 크다는 것을 나타낸다. 따라서, 접착층(110) t0의 두께가 30㎛ 이하라면 제2정보면으로부터의 누설신호는 보다 커지게 될 것이고 재생된 신호의 특성은 현저히 감소될 것으로 생각된다. 따라서, 접착층(110)의 두께 t0는 30㎛ 이상이 되어야 한다.
제7b도로부터 제1정보면(105)으로부터 얻어진 재생된 신호의 지터는 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1이 0.58 내지 0.56mm 의 범위일 때 급속한 증가를 시작한다. 이는 접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 40m일 때 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1의 변화로 인한 수차의 영향이 제2정보면으로부터의 누설신호의 영향보다 커지기 때문에 이다. 재생된 신호의 지터는 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1의 변화와 함께 실질적으로 포물선식으로 변한다.
따라서, 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1이 0.56mm 이하라면 재생된 신호의 지터는 급격히 증가할 것으로 기대된다. 따라서, 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1은 0.56mm 이상이어야 한다.
제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 접착층(110)의 두께 t0의 전체 두께는 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때 존재하는 기판의 두께이다. 제7c도로부터 재생된 신호의 지터는 두께(t0+ t1)가 0.66 내지 0.68mm 범위에 있을 때 급격한 증가를 시작하는 것으로 관측되었다. 지터는 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1의 변화와 더불어 실제로 포물선식으로 변한다. 따라서 10% 이하의 재생신호의 지터를 얻기 위해 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 접착층(110)의 두께 t0의 전체 두께 즉, t0+ t1은 0.68mm이하이어야 한다.
이러한 값은 거의 한계에 가깝다. 장치의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 장치의 각 구성 부품에 대해 엄격한 검사가 요구된다. 대량생산을 하기에는 상기의 허용 한도가 너무 좁아서 각 장치에 대한 비용이 상등한다. 이러한 점은 이하 설명되는 바와 같다.
제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때 접착층(110)의 두께 t0가 커짐에 따라 제2정보면(108)으로부터의 누설신호의 영향은 보다 작아진다. 제제4도와 제7b도간의 비교로부터 관측되는 바와 같이 접착층(110)의 두께 t0는 제1정보면(105)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때 40㎛ 이상인 것이 바람직하다. 더욱이 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1이 0.56mm 이상일 때 재생된 신호의 지터는 8% 정도로 작을 수 있다.
제7a도로부터 볼 수 있는 바와 같이 제1기판(104)과 제2정보면(108)사이의 거리가 0.66mm 일 때 재생된 신호의 지터는 7.5% 이다. 제7b도로부터는 제1기판(104)과 제2정보면(108) 사이의 거리가 0.65mm일 때 재생된 신호의 지터는 6.6% 이다. 따라서, 상기 거리가 0.66mm를 초과할 때 재생된 신호의 지터는 급격히 증가한다. 따라서, 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보가 재생될 때 존재하는 기판의 두께 즉, 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1과 접착층(110)의 두께 t0의 전체 두께는 66mm 이하가 바람직하다.
포커싱렌즈(202)가 0.6mm 두께의 기판을 갖춘 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계될 때 기판의 두께는 0.6mm를 중심으로 변화하는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서, 제1기판(104)의 두께가 0.56mm 이상일 때 기판 두께는 0.58mm ± 0.02mm 로서 한정될 수 있다. 따라서, 제1기판(104)의 두께와 0.66mm 인 접착층(110)의 두께의 전체 두께를 얻기 위해서는 접착층(110)의 두께는 60㎛ 이하가 되어야 한다.
상기의 설명으로부터 40㎛ 내지 60㎛ 의 범위에서의 접착층(110)의 두께 t0와 0.56mm 내지 0.6mm 범위에서 제1기판(104)의 두께 t1을 설정함으로써 제1 및 제2정보면(105,108)에서 얻어지는 재생된 신호의 지터는 둘다 모두 낮기 때문에 양호한 특성을 갖는 재생된 신호가 얻어질 수 있다.
제1 및 제2광디스크(102,103)의 나선모양의 트랙 방향에 대해 설명한다. 예를 들어, 제1광디스크(102)의 나선모양의 트랙이 내측에서 외측으로 형성되고, 제2광디스크(103)의 나선모양의 트랙이 내측에서 외측으로 형성될 때 상호 작용하는 재생은 2 배의 정보면으로부터 재생을 위해 하나의 공학 헤드를 사용하므로써 실현될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 복수의 브랜치를 갖는 게임 프로그램은 별도로 2 배의 정보면에 기록될 수도 있다. 게임시 브렌칭 지시(branching instruction)를 수신하는 즉시 프로그램은 제1정보면(105)으로부터 제2정보면(108)으로 또는 제2정보면(108)으로부터 제1정보면(105)으로 포커싱 점핑에 의해 즉각적으로 이동 될 수 있다.
이와 달리 제1광디스크(102)의 나선 모양의 트랙이 내측에서 외측으로 형성되고, 제2광디스크(103)의 나선 모양의 트랙이 내측에서 외측으로 형성될 때 연속적인 재생은 2 배의 정보면으로부터 재생을 위해 하나의 제4헤드를 사용함으로써 용이하게 실현될 수 있다. 즉, 정보는 디스크의 내측에서 외측으로 광학헤드를 이동시킴으로써 제1정보면(105)으로부터 먼저 재생된다. 광학레드가 가장 외측에 도달할 때 포커싱은 제1정보면(105)으로부터 제2정보면(108)으로 즉시 점프된다.
다음에, 제2정보면(108)에 기록되는 정보는 외측에서 내측으로 재생된다. 이러한 절차는 영화 등의 장시간 동안의 재생을 가능하게 해준다. 나선모양의 트랙이 서로 반대 방향으로 형성되는 제1 및 제2광디스크를 포함하는 이러한 광학 기록 매체는 다음의 방법으로 얻어진다. 오리지날 디스크의 컷팅시 신호는 디스크의 내측에서 외측으로 광학헤드를 이동시킴으로써 제1광디스크(102)에 기록된다. 신호가 기록되어야 할 때 디스크는 반대 방향으로 회전되고 광학헤드는 디스크의 외측에서 내측으로 이동된다.
따라서, 제1실시예의 광학기록 매체에서 제1 및 제2광디스크는 소정의 두께를 갖는 접착제를 통해 접착한다. 제1 및 제2정보면 모두에 기록되는 정보는 광학 기록 매체의 한면으로부터 광빔으로 표면을 조사함으로써 재생된다. 따라서, 제1 및 제2정보면 모두에 기록되는 정보는 하나의 광학헤드를 사용하여 포커싱 포인트의 위치를 변화시킴으로서만 재생되기 때문에 대화식(interactive) 재생 또는 영화의 장시간의 연속적 재생이 가능하다. 이렇게 함으로서 기록/재생 장치의 비용도 경감시킨다. 더욱이, 제1 및 제2광디스크의 두께가 동일하기 때문에 이들 광디스크는 습도가 변하는 경우에도 형상이 전혀 변하지 않는다. 이는 이들 광디스크의 접착을 용이하게 하므로 디스크의 비용을 절감시킨다.
[실시예 2]
제2실시예에서는 다른 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 광학 기록/재생의 여러 유행에 대하여 사용될 수 있는 광학 기록 매체가 설명된다.
제3도는 0.6㎜ 두께의 기판을 갖는 기록 매체를 위해 설계된 장치와 1.2㎜ 두께의 기판을 갖는 기록매체용으로 설계된 장치 모두에 의해 정보가 판독될 수 있는 광학 기록 매체의 개략적 단면도를 나타내고 있다.
제2실시예의 광학 기록 매체(301)는 서로 부착되는 제1광디스크(302)와 제2광디스크(303)로 구성되어 있다.
제1 및 제2광디스크(302,303)에는 동일한 정보가 저장된다.
제1광디스크(302)는 제1정보면(305)을 갖는 0.6mm 두께인 디스크 형상의 제1기판(304)을 가지며, 이 경우 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성되는 나선 모양의 정보 트랙이 형성된다.
반투명한 제1반사막(306)은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 제1기판(304)의 제1정보면(305)에 형성된다. 제2광디스크(303)는 동일한 방법으로 제1광디스크(302)의 정보처럼 동일한 정보를 완전히 저장한다. 제2광디스크(303)는 제2정보면(308)을 갖는 0.6mm 두께의 디스크 형상의 제2기판(307)을 가지며, 이 경우 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성된 나선 모양의 정보 트랙이 형성된다. 알루미늄 등으로된 제2반사막은 스퍼터링 등으로 제2정보면(308)에 형성된다.
참조번호(310)는 제1 및 제2광디스크(302,303)를 접착시키기 위한 UV-경화제로 형성된 접착층을 나타낸다. 참조번호(311)는 광학 기록 매체를 식별하기 위한 라벨을 나타낸다. 참조부호(312)는 광학 기록/재생 장치에 광학 기록 매체(301)를 장착하기 위한 구멍을 나타낸다.
제1 및 제2정보면(305,308)에 기록되어 있는 정보의 재생을 제4a도와 제4b도를 참조하여 설명한다.
반투명한 제1반사막(306)은 스퍼터링 등에 의해 제1기판(304)의 제1정보면(305)에 형성된다. 제2광디스크(303)는 동일한 방법으로 제1광 디스크(302)의 정보처럼 동일한 정보를 완전하게 저장한다. 제4a도는 제1정보면(305)에 기록된 정보가 0.6mm 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 장치를 사용하여 판독되는 경우를 나타내고 있다.
제4a도는 제2a도와 기본적으로는 동일하다. 즉, 평행한 광빔(201)은 0.6mm 두께의 기판용으로 설계된 포커싱렌즈(202)에 의해 집중되어 제1기판(304)의 측면으로부터 광학 기록 매체(101)를 조사한다. 광빔(201)은 제1반사막(306)으로부터 부분적으로 반사되고 이 반사된 광빔(203)은 스플리터(204)를 통해 광검출기(205)로 검출된다. 따라서, 정보가 판독된다.
제4b도는 제2정보면(308)에 기록된 정보가 1.2mm 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 장치를 사용하여 판독되는 경우를 나타내고 있다. 제4b도를 참조하면 제2정보면(308)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 평행한 광빔(401)은 1.2mm 두께의 기판용으로 설계된 포커싱렌즈(402)에 의해 집중되고 제1기판(304)의 측면으로부터 광학 기록 매체(301)를 조사한다. 광빔(401)은 제1기판(304), 제1반사막(306), 접착층(310) 및 제2기판(307)을 통과한 후 제2정보면(308)에 도달한다. 광빔(401)은 제2반사막(309)으로부터 부분적으로 반사되며, 반사된 광빔(406)은 제2기판(307), 접착층(310), 제1반사막(306), 제1반사막(304) 및 포커싱 렌즈(404)를 통과한다. 반사된 광빔(406)은 스플리터(404)를 통해 광검출기(405)에 의해 검출된다. 따라서, 정보가 판독된다.
제4a도에 나타낸 바와 같이 제1정보면(305)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 반사된 광빔(203,206)은 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과해서 광검출기(205)에 의해 수신된다. 그러나, 제2반사막(309)에 형성된 광빔(201)의 스폿 크기는 1mm 이상 정도로 크며 따라서 복수의 피트가 광빔(201)에 의해 조사된다.
또한, 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과한 반사된 광빔(206)은 평행하게 형성되지는 않는다. 따라서, 광검출기(205)를 통과한 반사된 광빔(206)의 광량은 극히 작다. 따라서, 제2정보면(308)에서 얻어지는 피트 정보의 성분은 광검출기(205)에 의해서는 거의 검출되지 않는다.
상기의 경우처럼 제4b도에 나타낸 바와 같이 제2정보면(308)에 기록된 정보가 재생될 때 반사된 광빔(403,406)은 포커싱렌즈(202)를 통과해서 광검출기(405)에 의해 수신된다.
그러나, 제1반사막(306)에 형성된 광빔(401)의 스폿 크기는 1mm 이상 정도로 크며, 따라서 복수의 피트가 광빔(401)에 의해 조사된다. 또한, 포커싱렌즈(402)를 통과한 반사된 광빔(406)은 평행하게 형성되지는 않는다. 따라서, 제1정보면(305)에서 얻어지는 피트 정보의 성분은 광검출기(405)로는 거의 검출되지 않는다.
제2실시예의 광학 기록 매체(301)내의 제1 및 제2반사막(306,309)의 반사율 사이의 관계는 제1실시예의 광학 기록 매체(101)에서의 관계와 기본적으로 동일하다. 그러나, 광학 기록 매체(301)에서 제2정보면(308)에 기록된 정보는 제2반사막(309)에 전달될 필요는 없다. 이로서 제2반사막(309)을 두껍게 할 수 있기 때문에 90% 이상의 반사율을 얻을 수 있다.
상기와 바와 같이 제3도에 나타낸 광학 기록 매체(301)가 1.2mm 두께의 기판을 위해 설계된 장치로서 사용될 때 광빔(401)은 제1 및 제2기판(304,307)과, 제1반사막(306) 및 접착층(310)을 통과한다. 제1 및 제2기판(304,307)의 두께가 0.6mm 일 때 전체 두께는 제1반사막(306)의 두께가 무시할 수 있더라도 접착층(310)의 두께만큼 1.2mm 초과한다. 이것은 수차의 원인이 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 접착층(310)의 두께는 수십 마이크로미터 이하인 것이 바람직하다. 이와 달리 제2기판(307)의 두께는 접착층(310)의 두께만큼 얇아질 수 있다.
제1 및 제2정보면(305,308)은 서로 다른 포맷을 가질 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 정보는 정보가 널리 이용되는 CD 플레이어에 의해 재생될 수 있도록 종래의 CD 의 포맷으로 제2정보면(308)에 기록될 수도 있다. 일반적으로 CD 의 밀도는 낮고 그 용량은 1/4 이거나 또는 본 발명에 따른 광디스크의 밀도정도이다. 따라서, 예를 들어 모든 영화가 제1정보면(305)에 기록될 수도 있지만 정보면의 일부를 절단함으로써 짧아진 영화의 편집된 버전은 제2정보면(308)에 기록될 수도 있다. 이 경우에 780nm 파장을 갖는 광빔이 CD 로부터의 재생을 위해 사용되기 때문에 제1반사막(306)은 650nm 광빔을 반사시키고 780nm 광빔을 전달하는 광학적 특성을 가져야 한다. 이것은 반사된 광량을 증가시키기 때문에 그 결과로 재생된 신호의 S/N 비를 증가시킨다.
제2실시예에서 상기한 바와 같이 동일한 정보가 제1 및 제2광디스크에 기록되기 때문에 상기 정보는 1.2mm 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체를 위해 설계된 장치와 0.6mm 두께의 기판을 갖는 광학 기록 매체를 위해 설계된 장치 모두에 의해 판독될 수 있다. 또한, 제1 및 제2정보면 모두가 광학 기록 매체의 한면으로부터 광빔으로 조사되기 때문에 라벨은 다른 면에 부착될 수 있다.
[실시예 3]
제3실시예에서는 재생 전용의 제1정보면과 기록 및 재생을 위한 제2정보면을 갖는 광학 기록 매체가 설명된다. 정보의 재생 및 기록은 단지 한면에서 광빔으로 광학 기록 매체를 조사함으로써 수행된다.
제5도는 실시예 3 의 광학 기록 매체(501)에 대한 부분적 확대도이다. 광학 기록 매체(501)는 재생 전용의 제1광디스크(502)와 서로 접착되는 기록 및 재생을 위한 제2광디스크(503)로 구성된다. 제1광디스크(502)는 제1정보면(505)을 갖는 0.6mm 두께인 디스크 형상의 기판(504)을 가지며, 이 경우 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성된 나선 모양의 정보 트랙이 형성된다. 반투명한 반사막(506)은 스터퍼링 등에 의해 기판(504)의 제1정보면(505)에 형성된다. 제2광디스크(503)는 제2정보면을 갖는 0.58mm 두께의 기판을 가지며, 이 경우 요부와 철부(피트)로 구성된 나선 모양의 정보 트랙이 형성된다. 참조번호(510)는 제1 및 제2광디스크(502,503)를 접착시키기 위한 접착층을 나타낸다.
참조번호(511)는 광학 기록 매체를 식별하기 위한 라벨을 나타낸다. 참조번호 (512)는 광학 기록/재생 장치에 광학 기록 매체(501)를 장착하기 위한 구멍을 나타낸다.
제1도에 나타낸 광학 기록 매체(101)와 마찬가지로 제5도에 나타낸 광학 기록 매체에서 재생 전용의 제1정보면(505)과 기록과 재생을 위한 제2정보면은 약 40㎛ 정도로 되도록 접착층(510)을 통해 접착된다. 광학 기록 매체(501)는 제1광디스크(502)의 측면으로부터 광빔으로 조사된다.
제5도와 제6도를 참조하여 제2광디스크(503)를 설명한다. 제6도는 방사 방향으로 제2광디스크(503)를 절단함으로써 얻어진 부분에 대한 확대도이다. 요부와 철부를 갖는 홈트랙(602)은 제2광디스크(503)의 기판(601)의 한 표면에 형성된다. 다음에, 알루미늄 등으로 만들어진 반사막(603)과, SiO2등으로 만들어진 유전막(604), 기록 재료막(605) 및 다른 유전막(606)이 스퍼터링 등에 의해 순서대로 연속적으로 형성된다. 반사막(603)은 감광도를 증가시키고 열방사를 용이하게 함으로써 열충격으로부터 기록 재료막(605)을 보호하도록 배치된다. 예를 들어 주성분으로서 텔루르(Te), 안티몬(Sb), 게르마늄(Ge)을 함유하는 위상 변화형 기록재를 스퍼터링함으로써 기록재료막(605)이 형성된다. 습도 또는 열충격으로부터 보호하기 위해 유전막(604,606)이 형성될 수 있으며, 이들 유전막은 생략될 수 있다.
위상변화형 기록재료는 가열된 후에는 점차로 냉각될 때 결정화되고 용융된 후에 갑자기 냉각될 때 비정질이 된다. 이러한 특성은 위상변화형 디스크에 사용되고 이 경우 위상 변화형 기록재료의 결정상태와 비정질 상태는 서로 반대로 변화되고, 정보는 반복적으로 오버라이트될 수 있고 따라서 플로피 디스크와 하드디스크 등의 자기 디스크에 행해진다. 위상 변화형 디스크에는 다음과 같이 정보가 기록된다. 디스크는 소정의 속도로 회전한다. 홈 트랙을 따라 광빔이 위치하도록 트래킹이 제어되는 동안 광빔의 강도는 기록될 신호에 따라 강한 비정질 레벨과 약한 결정 레벨 사이에서 변화된다. 예를 들어, 기록 마크가 비정질 상태가 되도록 기록이 행해지는 경우에는 박막의 비정질 상태로 마크를 형성하도록 박막을 용융시키기에 충분한 광량을 갖는 광빔이 방사된다. 반대로 마크 이외의 기간동안에는 박막의 용융을 방지하기에 충분한 약간의 광량을 갖는 광빔이 방사되고 따라서 박막의 위치를 결정화시킨다. 따라서, 이때 박막의 위치는 비정질 또는 결정화되는 위치의 이전 상태에 상관없이 결정화된다. 따라서, 정보가 기록되어온 박막의 위치도 오버라이트된다. 위상 변화형 디스크에 기록되는 정보의 재생은 비정질 상태와 결정 상태의 제5 서로 다르다는 원리에 따라 실행된다. 예를 들어 일정한 약한 광빔으로 조사되고, 디스크로부터의 반사된 광빔은 광검출기에 의해 검출되고, 반사된 광량에서 검출된 편차는 정보를 재생하는데 사용된다.
상기한 바와 같이 제3실시예의 광학 기록 매체(501)는 제1광디스크(502)로부터의 광빔을 받아들이도록 구성된다. 이에 대한 이유는 다음과 같다. 광빔을 흡수함으로써 얻어지는 열을 사용하여 기록과 재생을 위한 제2광디스크(503)에 정보가 기록된다. 약간의 광량을 갖는 광빔을 사용하여 기록을 수행하기 위해서는 약 60% 의 광빔이 제2광디스크에 의해 흡수될 필요가 있다. 따라서, 반사율이 20% 일 때 투과율은 20% 정도로 낮다. 만약 광학 기록 매체가 제2광디스크(503)의 측면으로부터 광빔을 수용하도록 구성된다면 제3실시예의 경우와 반대로 제1정보면(505)에 기록되는 정보의 판독시 필요한 반사 광량은 극히 작아질 것이다. 예를 들어, 반사된 광량은 반사막(506)의 반사율이 100% 라도 제2광디스크(503)를 2회 통과한 후의 입사광량의 단지 4% 가 될 것이다. 상기의 문제는 본 발명에 따른 광학 기록 매체(501)의 경우에는 금지되는데, 이는 제1광디스크(502)의 측면으로부터 광빔을 받아들이기 때문이다. 제2광디스크(503)의 흡수성은 60% 정도로 크지만 반사율은 40% 일 수 있다. 따라서, 예를 들어 반사막(506)의 반사율이 20% 일 때 약 20% 의 입사광량중 반사된 광량은 제1정보면(505)에 기록되는 정보가 판독될 때 얻어지고, 약 20% 의 입사광량중 반사된 광량은 제2광디스크(503)에 기록되는 정보가 판독되는 경우에 얻어진다.
재생 전용의 제1광디스크(502)내의 정보가 재생될 때 입사광빔은 제1정보면(505)에 형성되는 피트에 의해 상당히 변조된다. 따라서, 충분히 높은 특성을 가지고 재생된 신호는 제1반사막(506)의 반사율이 20% 정도로 낮을 때라도 얻어질 수 있다.
상기한 바와 같이 제3실시예의 광학 기록 매체가 재생전용의 제1광디스크(502)의 측면으로부터 광빔을 받아들이도록 구성되기 때문에 제1 및 제2광디스크(502,503) 모두로부터의 재생은 높은 신뢰성을 가지고 수행될 수 있다.
따라서, 제3실시예에서 제1 및 제2광디스크(502,503)는 소정의 두께로 접착될 수 있고, 2 개의 광디스크의 정보면은 광학 기록 매체의 한 면으로부터의 광빔으로 조사된다. 따라서, 라벨은 광학 기록 매체의 다른 측면에 부착될 수 있다.
또한, 이중 정보면상에 기록된 정보가 하나의 광학 헤드를 이용함으로써 광빔의 초점 위치의 변화에 의해서만 재생될 수 있기 때문에, 상호 작용하는 재생이 가능하고, 광학 기록/광학 재생 장치의 비용은 감소된다. 또한, 단지 재생만을 위한 광 디스크와 기록 및 재생용 광 디스크는 결합되어 광학 기록 매체를 형성한다. 따라서, 예를 들면, 단지 재생만을 위한 광 디스크에 기록된 정보는 처리될 수 있고, 처리된 정보는 기록 및 재생용 광디스크에 기록될 수 있다. 이것은 관련 정보가 동일한 광학 기록 매체에 저장되기 때문에 정보를 용이하게 다룰 수 있게 된다. 제1 및 제2광디스크의 두께는 동일하므로, 이러한 광디스크들은 습도의 변화로 인한 형상의 변화는 거의 없다. 이로서 광디스크의 접착을 용이하게 할 수 있기 때문에, 광학 기록/광학 재생 매체의 비용을 낮출 수 있게 된다.
부수적으로, 예 3에 사용된 기록 재료막(605)과 유사한 기록 재료막은 예 2의 광학 기록 매체의 제2정보면(308)상에 형성될 수 있다. 그러한 기록 재료막은 제2정보면(308)과 제2광디스크(303)의 제2반사막(309) 사이에 형성되어야 한다.
그래서, 본 발명에 따라, 정보가 기록되는 제1정보면상에 형성된 반투명성의 반사막을 포함한 제1광디스크와, 정보가 기록되는 제2정보면상에 형성된 반사막을 포함한 제2광디스크는 투명한 접착제로 접착되어 그 결과 정보면은 서로 더 근접한다. 따라서, 이중 정보면상에 기록된 정보는 광학 기록 매체의 일 측면으로부터 방사된 광빔으로 표면을 조사함으로서 판독될 수 있다. 그래서, 정보량의 약 2 배가 연속적으로 재생될 수 있다. 라벨은 광학 기록 매체의 다른 측면에 부착될 수 있으므로, 광학 기록 매체의 식별은 용이하다.
제1기판 및 접착층의 두께는 미리 설정된 값으로 고정된다. 따라서, 제1 및 제2정보면으로부터 산출된 재생 신호의 지터는 낮으므로, 양질의 재생된 신호를 얻을 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 제1 및 제2기판의 두께는 실질적으로 동일하게 만들어지고, 이러한 기판이 서로 접착되므로 제1기판의 제1정보면은 제2정보면과 대향하는 제2기판의 표면과 접한다. 이러한 광학 기록 매체는 1.2mm 두께의 기판을 갖춘 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 장치와, 0.6mm 두께의 기판을 갖춘 광학 기록 매체용으로 설계된 장치 양자용으로 이용될 수 있다.
이와 달리, 본 발명에 따른 재생전용의 광디스크와 기록 및 재생용 광학 기록 매체는 서로 접착된다. 예를 들면, 재생전용의 광디스크에 기록된 정보만이 처리될 수도 있는데, 이 처리된 정보는 기록 및 재생용 광디스크에 기록될 수도 있다. 이것은 관련 정보가 광학 기록 매체에 저장되기 때문에 정보를 용이하게 다룰 수 있게 된다.
본 발명의 취지와 범위를 벗어나지 않는 한 여러 변형이 있을 수 있음은 당업자에게는 당연한 것이다. 따라서, 여기에 첨부된 특허 청구항의 범위는 본 명세서에서 상술된 바와 같은 설명에 한정시키려는 의도는 아니며 오히려 청구항은 넓게 해석될 수 있다.
Claims (7)
- 광 기록 매체에 있어서, 제1정보면을 갖는 제1기판과, 상기 제1기판의 제1정보면상에 형성된 반투명성의 반사막과, 제2정보면을 갖는 제2기판과, 상기 제2기판의 제2정보면상에 형성된 반사막 및, 상기 제1정보면과 상기 제2정보면이 서로 대향하도록 상기 제1기판과 제2기판을 접착시키는 접착층을 포함하는데, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 0.56mm 이상이고, 상기 접착층의 두께는 30㎛ 이상이며, 상기 제1기판과 상기 접착층의 전체 두께는 0.68mm 이하인 광 기록 매체.
- 제1항에 잇어서, 상기 제1기판의 두께는 0.56mm 내지 0.6mm 의 범위내에 있고, 상기 접착층 두께는 40㎛ 내지 60㎛의 범위 내에 있는 광 기록 매체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2기판의 상기 반사막상에는 정보를 기록 및 재생하기 위한 기록 재료막이 형성되는 광 기록 매체.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 기록 재료막은 상변화형 기록 재료로 형성되어 있는 광 기록 매체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2기판의 표면상에 라벨이 설치되어 있는 광 기록 매체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2기판상에 각각 나선 트랙이 형성되고, 제1정보면과 반대의 제1기판의 표면측으로부터 나선 트랙들을 본 경우에, 제1기판에 나선 트랙을 형성하는 방향이 제2기판상에 나선 트랙을 형성하는 방향과 동일한 광 기록 매체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2기판상에 각각 나선 트랙이 형성되고, 제1정보면과 반대의 제1기판의 표면측으로부터 나선 트랙들을 본 경우에, 제1기판에 나선 트랙을 형성하는 방향이 제2기판상에 나선 트랙을 형성하는 방향과 반대인 광 기록 매체.
