Claims (16)

  1. 繊維のトウ、繊維の織物、または繊維の編物を形成する複数の繊維を含む基板を提供するステップと、
    該基板を、(1)触媒材料または(2)触媒前駆体材料を含む液体に接触させるステップと、
    該繊維上に、一組の実質的に整列したナノ構造を触媒により成長させることにより、該ナノ構造が該繊維の表面の周りに半径方向に配向付けられるかまたは該繊維の表面に規則的または不規則的に配向付けられるステップであって、ここで、該ナノ構造が該基板の体にわたって均一に分散する、ステップと
    を含む、複合体を形成する方法。
  2. 前記ナノ構造は、ナノチューブ、ナノ繊維、および/またはナノワイヤを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
  3. 前記ナノ構造は、ナノチューブを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
  4. 前記ナノ構造は、カーボンナノチューブを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
  5. 前記ナノ構造は、100nm以下の平均直径を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  6. 前記ナノ構造は、10nm以下の平均直径を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  7. 前記繊維の少なくとも10%は、該繊維の表面全体に付着したナノ構造を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  8. 前記繊維の少なくとも50%は、該繊維の表面全体に付着したナノ構造を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  9. 前記繊維の少なくとも90%は、該繊維の表面全体に付着したナノ構造を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  10. 前記繊維の少なくとも95%は、該繊維の表面全体に付着したナノ構造を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
  11. 繊維のトウ、繊維の織物、または繊維の編物を形成する複数の繊維を含む基板と、
    一組のナノ構造であって、該繊維の表面の上に均一にかつ周りに半径方向に配向付けられことにより、該ナノ構造が該基板全体にわたって均一に分散する、該一組のナノ構造と
    を含む、複合体。
  12. 前記ナノ構造は、ナノチューブ、ナノ繊維、またはナノワイヤである、請求項11に記載の複合体。
  13. 前記ナノ構造は、ナノチューブである、請求項11に記載の複合体。
  14. 前記ナノ構造は、カーボンナノチューブである、請求項11に記載の複合体。
  15. 前記ナノ構造は、100nm以下の平均直径を有する、請求項11に記載の複合体。
  16. 前記ナノ構造は、10nm以下の平均直径を有する、請求項11に記載の複合体。
