Abstract

Description
本発明は、混合器具および混合方法に関する。
成分を均一に混合する混合機械が周知である。これらの用途として、限定的ではないが、焼き付け、建造物工事、および医薬などがある。
本発明のいくつかの実施形態は、広義において、少量(small batches)の高粘性物質を混合することに関する。本発明の実施形態の一例において、「高粘性」とは、粘性が500、700、または900パスカル/秒であること、もしくはこの前後、もしくはこの中間の粘性であることを示す。粘性を決定する手段の例が、クラウス(Krause)ら(1982)による「アクリル製骨セメントの粘性(The viscosity of acrylic bone cements)」(生物医学材料研究ジャーナル(Journal of Biomedical Materials Research)、16:219−243)に記載されており、その内容全体は、参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。随意に、この粘性は、混合開始から30、60、または90秒以内に達成することができる。しかしながら、状況によっては、混合にこれよりも長い時間を費やす場合もある。少量とは、混合完了時において、100、50、25、15、または5mL、もしくはこれより小さい、もしくは中間の容積となる場合がある。

〔概要〕
米国特許出願第60/738,556号;同第60/762,789号;同第60/765,484号;および同第11/360,251号(以下、「本発明者の先願」という)の開示内容は全て参照により本明細書に組み込まれており、高粘性状態へと迅速に移行することを特徴とするポリマー製骨セメントの配合を開示するものである。これらの出願が開示するセメント配合の例によれば、モノマーおよびポリマーを成分とする混合物は、ポリマーがモノマーによって湿るのとほぼ同時に、粘性が400〜500パスカル/秒の範囲であることを特徴とする混合物を生成する。実際には、わずか30秒で生成する場合もある。

本発明の実施形態の一例において、器具200は手動で作動され、ω1はオペレータによって設定される。随意に、ω1は、10,15,22,または30RPM、もしくはこの前後、もしくはこの中間値を取り得る。
本発明の実施形態の一例において、R1、R2、R(B)、R(C)、およびiは、構造条件、および相対的に近似した速度勾配の双方に適合するよう選択する。速度勾配は、選択した粘性が、例えば500パスカル/秒であることを踏まえ、適切なせん断応力を生成するのに十分な値とする。
代わりに、または追加的に、せん断力を、混合要素230および/または240の表面エリア、および/または混合物と接するウェル252内面を変化させることによって調節することができる。
図6,7,および8は、本発明の実施形態の一例による、任意のワイピング要素260の配置および機能を示す。
図9および10は、本発明の実施形態の例による移送機構を示す。これは、同時継続中の米国特許出願第11/360,251号において既に開示されており、同出願の開示内容は、全て参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。図9は断面図であり、図10は一部を切り取った斜視図である。
本発明の様々な実施形態によれば、混合ウェル252の内部容積は5mL、随意に10mL、随意に20mL、随意に40mL、随意に60mL、随意に80mL、随意に100mL、またはこの前後、またはこの中間の容積とすることができる。本発明の実施形態の一例において、混合ウェルの容積は、50mL〜60mL、随意に約66mLとし、10mL〜20mLの混合物、随意に約15mLの混合物を、チャンバに投入して混合することができる。本発明の実施形態の一例において、ウェル252の内部容積の一部は、混合要素230および240が占めている。
本発明の実施形態の一例において、混合器具の部品は、ポリアミド(例:ナイロン)および/またはポリプロピレンで製造する。
本発明の実施形態の一例において、器具200は、使用説明書を備える。本発明の実施形態の一例において、説明書は、ウェル252に投入した混合物を完全に混合するための工程について説明する。
ウェル252内の混合物にかかるせん断力は、主に、表面特性、表面間距離、および表面間の速度差の影響を受ける。
骨セメント混合物の成分には、吸引すると不快な臭気および/または毒性を発するものがあるため、本発明の実施形態のいくつかの例は、望ましくない蒸気への曝露を減じるための安全機能を含む。

前記手動駆動機構が十分な力を与えることにより、前記遊星混合要素が、粘性が少なくとも500パスカル/秒であることを特徴とする混合物を通って移動する、方法。 - 粘性材料を移送する器具において、
a)粘性材料を収容可能な第1の容器と、
b)移送ピストンであって、前記第1の容器に挿入可能であることにより、前記容器に対して円周状のシールを形成し、かつ、穴を含む、移送ピストンと、
c)第2の容器の孔を、前記移送ピストンの前記穴に取り付ける機構と、
を含み、
前記移送ピストンを前記第1の容器に挿入することにより、前記粘性材料が、前記孔を通って前記第2の容器へと移動する、器具。 - 請求項36に記載の器具において、
粘性が少なくとも500パスカル/秒であることを特徴とする粘性材料が前記第2の容器の前記孔を通って流れるために、十分な力を与えるように構成される、器具。 - 請求項37に記載の器具において、
前記第1の容器および前記移送ピストンを手動操作することにより、前記十分な力を生成するように構成される、器具。 - 請求項36〜38のいずれか1項に記載の器具において、
混合要素を前記第1の容器から取り除くと、前記移送ピストンが、前記粘性材料の少なくとも一部を前記混合要素から取り除くように構成される、器具。 - 粘性混合物の成分を混合する方法において、
a)前記成分を、内部容積が100mLを超えないことを特徴とする混合ウェルに投入することと、
b)駆動機構を作動させ、前記粘性が少なくとも500パスカル/秒である間、前記内部容積内の材料を混合することと、
を含む、方法。 - 請求項40に記載の方法において、
遊星混合要素を、前記駆動機構によって駆動することを含む、方法。
