Método de ensayo
Las muestras estaban a 73 ºF y un 50 % de humedad relativa. El ensayo de Tenacidad / Rigidez de Vaso se llevó a cabo con un dinamómetro horizontal que contenía una célula de carga para medir la fuerza de resistencia del vaso cuando se expone a las siguientes
5 condiciones de ensayo: (a) La ubicación de ensayo en el vaso estaba 1/3 por debajo del borde del vaso. (b) La distancia de desplazamiento de ensayo es ¼ pulgadas, (c) El tiempo de desplazamiento de ensayo era de 10 segundos.
Resultados de ensayo
Con un espesor de pared promedio de 0,064 pulgadas, una densidad promedio de 0,1776 g
10 / cc y un peso de vaso promedio de 9,86 g, la rigidez del material se muestra a continuación en las tablas 1-2.

En cambio, el intervalo del material de poliestireno expandido sometido a ensayo era de 103-121 g-f.
10 Resistencia a la perforación
Método de ensayo
Determinar la fuerza y el desplazamiento necesario para perforar el fondo y la pared lateral del vaso. Se usa un instrumento Instron en modo de compresión fijado a 10 pulgadas por minuto de velocidad de desplazamiento. Se usa el soporte de sujeción de ensayo de 15 perforación de vasos basado en Instron. Este soporte de sujeción permite que el vaso encaje por encima de una forma que encaja en el interior del vaso con una superficie de arriba que es perpendicular al desplazamiento del aparato de ensayo Instron. El orificio de una pulgada de diámetro del soporte de sujeción debería colocarse hacia arriba. La porción del aparato Instron que se mueve debería estar equipada con un punzón de 0,300 pulgadas
