Claims (36)
- 포인팅 장치로서,제1 축을 중심으로 한 상기 포인팅 장치의 회전을 판정하고 그와 연관된 제1 회전 출력을 발생하는 제1 회전 센서,제2 축을 중심으로 한 상기 포인팅 장치의 회전을 판정하고 그와 연관된 제2 회전 출력을 발생하는 제2 회전 센서,상기 포인팅 장치의 가속도를 판정하고 그와 연관된 가속도 출력을 발생하는 가속도계, 및상기 가속도에 기초하여 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 수정하고 상기 수정된 제1 및 제2 회전 출력에 기초하여 출력을 발생하는 처리부을 포함하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 회전 센서는 제1 프레임에 부착된 제1 공진 질량을 더 포함하고, 상기 제1 회전 센서 내의 상기 제1 공진 질량은 상기 제1 축을 따라 공진하며,상기 제1 회전 출력을 발생하기 위해 코리올리 가속도 효과(coriolis acceleration effect)를 사용하여, 상기 제1 축을 따라서 상기 제1 공진 질량의 변위가 상기 제1 회전 센서에 의해 측정되는 포인팅 장치.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제2 회전 센서는 제2 프레임에 부착된 제2 공진 질량을 더 포함하며, 상기 제2 회전 센서 내의 상기 제2 공진 질량은 상기 제2 축을 따라 공진하고,상기 제2 회전 출력을 발생하기 위해 코리올리 가속도 효과를 사용하여, 상기 제2 축을 따라서 상기 제2 공진 질량의 변위가 상기 제2 회전 센서에 의해 측정되는 포인팅 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 상기 포인팅 장치의 선가속도를 보상하기 위해 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 수정하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 상기 제1 축을 따라 상기 가속도계에 의해 검출된 제1 가속도를 제1 이득 행렬과 곱하고 제1 결과를 상기 제1 회전 출력과 합성하며,상기 제2 축을 따라 상기 가속도계에 의해 검출된 제2 가속도를 제2 이득 행렬과 곱하고 제2 결과를 상기 제2 회전 출력과 합성하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 상기 포인팅 장치의 틸트를 보상하기 위해 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 수정하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 상기 포인팅 장치의 관성 좌표계로 회전시킴으로써 상기 틸트를 보상하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 또한 상기 포인팅 장치의 틸트를 보상하기 위해 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 수정하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는, 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력이 선가속도에 대해 보상된 후에, 상기 제1 및 제2 회전 출력을 상기 포인팅 장치의 관성 좌표계로 회전시킴으로써 상기 틸트를 보상하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 가속도계는 적어도 2개의 서로 다른 축을 따라 상기 포인팅 장치의 가속도를 측정하는 포인팅 장치.
- 포인팅 장치로서,상기 포인팅 장치의 움직임을 검출하는 적어도 하나의 센서, 및상기 포인팅 장치의 움직임을, 상기 움직임을 나타내는 출력으로 변환하고 또 상기 적어도 하나의 센서의 출력에 기초하여 상기 포인팅 장치가 정지 상태에 있는지를 판정하는 처리부을 포함하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서는,제1 축을 중심으로 한 상기 포인팅 장치의 회전을 판정하고 그와 연관된 제1 회전 출력을 발생하는 제1 회전 센서,제2 축을 중심으로 한 상기 포인팅 장치의 회전을 판정하고 그와 연관된 제2 회전 출력을 발생하는 제2 회전 센서, 및상기 포인팅 장치의 가속도를 판정하고 그와 연관된 가속도 출력을 출력하는 가속도계를 더 포함하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 처리부는 상기 적어도 하나의 센서의 상기 출력을 주파수 영역으로 변환하고 상기 포인팅 장치가 정지 상태에 있는지 여부를 판정하기 위해 미리 정해진 주파수 범위 내에서의 주파수 응답의 크기를 분석하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는 상기 미리 정해진 주파수 범위 내에서의 상기 주파수 응답의 상기 분석에 기초하여 상기 포인팅 장치를 정지 상태(stationary), 안정 상태(stable) 및 동작중 상태(active) 중 하나에 있는 것으로 분류하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는 상기 포인팅 장치가 미리 정해진 기간 동안 정지 상태에 있는 것으로 판정되었을 때 상기 적어도 하나의 센서와 연관된 캘리브레이션(calibration) 정보를 갱신하는 포인팅 장치.
- 제17항에 있어서, 상기 프로세서는, 상기 포인팅 장치가 미리 정해진 시간 기간 동안 정지 상태에 있는 것으로 판정되었을 때 하나 이상의 회전 센서와 연관된 오프셋 값을 갱신하는 포인팅 장치.
- 3D 포인팅 장치를 제어하는 방법으로서,상기 3D 포인팅 장치와 연관된 움직임의 결여를 검출하는 단계, 및상기 검출하는 단계의 결과로서 상기 3D 포인팅 장치를 감소된 전력 상태에 두는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제19항에 있어서,상기 3D 포인팅 장치와 연관된 움직임을 검출하는 단계, 및상기 감소된 전력 상태로부터 빠져나오는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 시스템을 제어하는 방법으로서,장치와 연관된 움직임을 검출하는 단계,상기 움직임이 사용자가 현재 상기 장치를 잡고 있음을 나타내는지를 판정하는 단계, 및상기 판정하는 단계의 결과에 기초하여 상기 시스템을 제어하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제21항에 있어서, 상기 움직임과 연관된 떨림 패턴에 기초하여 상기 사용자 를 식별하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제22항에 있어서, 상기 식별하는 단계에 기초하여 상기 시스템을 선택적으로 턴온(turn on)하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제21항에 있어서, 사용자가 현재 상기 장치를 잡고 있는 경우 상기 시스템을 턴온시키는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제22항에 있어서, 상기 사용자의 신원에 기초하여 상기 시스템에의 액세스를 제한하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제25항에 있어서, 상기 시스템은 미디어 시스템이며,상기 액세스를 제한하는 단계는 상기 신원에 기초하여 상기 사용자가 미디어 항목에 액세스하도록 선택적으로 허용하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.

- 제33항에 있어서, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서는 MEMS 센서인 포인팅 장치.
- 3D 포인팅 방법으로서,적어도 하나의 축을 중심으로 한 3D 포인팅 장치의 각속도를 감지하는 단계,상기 각속도와 연관된 데이터를 출력하는 단계, 및연관된 커서 움직임 출력을 제공하기 위해 상기 데이터를 처리하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제35항에 있어서, 상기 감지하는 단계는 MEMS 센서를 사용하여 수행되는 방법.
