背景

通过一种方法,本文的胶粘剂基可再封闭紧固件和/或包装构造通常被构建使紧固件与不希望表面的附着力减至最小,但同时仍然作为有效可再封闭紧固件起作用。即,胶粘剂基紧固件和/或包装具有获得选择的粘性和剥离值的独特制剂和构造,以使胶粘剂基紧固件可在使用期间被消费者多次打开和封闭以密封包装中的内容物,但是同时不自相对的包装部分脱层。为了这个目的,可再封闭紧固件通常包含具有相对低粘性水平的UV-固化胶粘剂,以将对不需要表面的附着力减至最小,所选择的粘附或打开剥离强度(peel strength)足以能够确保再闭合包装,并且剥离强度强健到足以能够反复打开和重新闭合包装。同时,胶粘剂基紧固件也与包装基材具有强的粘合,以致在打开包装时胶粘剂不脱层。
通过另一种方法,可再封闭的胶粘剂基紧固件可包含UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物和粘性控制剂的特定共混物。在又其它方法中,可再封闭的胶粘剂基紧固件可包含UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物、粘性控制剂和弹性体(橡胶)组分的特定共混物。优选地,UV-固化的胶粘剂基可再封闭紧固件为UV-固化的压敏胶粘剂(PSA),其呈现良好的粘结性和低粘性,但是尽管低粘性,仍然与形成相对包装面板(package panels)的包装基材形成强的粘合。
如同通常所理解的那样,粘结性基材料通常更易于粘附于相似材料(即自粘附)而不是非相似材料。本文使用的合适胶粘材料通常与不需要的表面呈现相对低的粘性,但是同时仍然与所需表面呈现良好的粘合强度(例如不自包装脱层),和与相似表面呈现相对好的粘结或自粘附强度以保持包装闭合,但是仍然允许包装可被手动打开。所选择的胶粘剂基材料也允许自这样的相似材料脱粘附(debonding)或剥离,以使胶粘层可被反复剥离而基本不损害胶粘材料和/或任何在下面的包装基材。当胶粘材料被脱粘附或剥离分开时,所选择的胶粘材料具有足够的内在完整性并且通常基本上洁净地在粘结界面剥离分开而没有明显的材料起毛(picking)、拉丝性、自包装基材脱层和/或其它显著的材料外形毁损(即起团(globbing)、起球等)。如以下更详细讨论地,本文描述的胶粘剂基紧固件在相对的粘合部分相互接触时保持剥离粘着力,其平均初始剥离粘着力大于约200克每线性英寸(gpli),并且优选地在约200 gpli和约900 gpli之间。另外,在一些情况中,胶粘剂基紧固件在5次反复密封和开封操作之后保持大于约200 gpli和/或平均初始剥离粘着力的至少约30%-约200%。
在又一方面,也构建具有在其上布置的胶粘剂基紧固件的包装,以使UV-固化的胶粘剂基可再封闭紧固件与形成包装的包装基材(例如相对刚性的包装基材壁)的附着或剥离强度通常大于紧固件本身的相对部分之间的打开剥离强度。照这样,在消费者打开包装并剥开紧固件时,可再封闭紧固件通常保持粘附于包装基材并且不起毛、成线索状(string)或自包装基材脱层。例如并且在一种方法中,胶粘剂与包装基材的粘合或剥离强度大于约600 gpli (在一些情况中,大于约900 gpli)并且能够经受多次剥离和再密封循环而不与包装基材分离。另外,胶粘剂被固化以致于其能够经受多于100次用甲乙酮(MEK)溶剂进行的摩擦。
除了提供有效的可再封闭的紧固件以外,在包装形成之前,本文描述的胶粘剂构造有利地使胶粘剂预施用到包装基材材料(例如纸箱坯料)上。例如,在施用胶粘剂后,包装基材可被切割成为坯料并随后堆叠、处理和拆堆叠,而不会实质不希望地粘附相邻的坯料。因为可施用胶粘剂作为制造/印刷过程的一部分,这可进一步使装纸箱操作成流线型。这样避免必须将胶粘剂涂布设备集成在装纸箱线内,而这是传统的粘性胶粘剂通常所需的。此外,与使用接头和槽缝布置来封闭覆盖盖片(cover flap)或类似的再封闭特性的其它包装相比,本文描述的低粘性胶粘剂紧固件有利地减少包装材料例如约20%。
现在来看在图1-6中说明的一种示例性可再封闭的包装或纸箱10的细节。可再封闭的包装10包括第一隔室12和第二隔室14,在该方法中,其具有一定尺寸以接受一种或多种薄的伸长的产品,例如在图1中说明的口香糖16的示例性块。然而,应理解的是,包装10只是本文描述的使用胶粘剂基可再封闭的紧固件的合适的可再封闭的包装的一个实例。其它包装可具有不同的形状和构型,这取决于期望的用途。
如图1所示,第一隔室12和第二隔室14通过横跨之间并且连接第一隔室12和第二隔室14的相邻末端的连接部分、桥或盖片(flap)18铰链式(hinged)或绕轴旋转地连接。可再封闭的包装10还包括可重新密封的胶粘剂基紧固件20。如图1说明的,这种包装形式中的胶粘剂基紧固件20为围绕隔室12和14的主要内面延伸的胶粘剂的相对伸长带。后面讨论胶粘剂的备选构型。
通过粘附或剥离分开在第一隔室12和第二隔室14的主要内面上施用的相对胶粘剂部分22,胶粘剂基紧固件20使得包装10可被重复封闭或打开。当胶粘剂部分22粘附在一起时,包装10处于封闭的构型,例如如图3所示。当胶粘剂部分22分隔或剥离分开时,例如如图1所示,包装10处于敞开的构型。该敞开的构型使得使用者可接近第一隔室12和第二隔室14中的一个或两个的内部24,以接近其中包含的一种或多种产品16。随后,使用者可封闭包装,例如通过绕轴旋转或移动,第一隔室12和第二隔室14通常朝向彼此并施用轻微压力,以将相对胶粘剂部分22粘合在一起,以再封闭包装10,如图2中举例说明的。如以下更充分讨论的,用于形成胶粘剂基紧固件20的胶粘剂具有独特的制剂,其配置为允许多次打开和再封闭操作,且粘合强度的损失最小化。
现在来看图5,包装10可由纸箱坯料形成,例如模切,单一或单块纸箱坯料28,其可为纸板、卡纸板、层压板、塑料、箔、金属等。坯料28包括通过中间的连接部分18连接的上面部分30和下面部分32。如以下更详细说明的,可将坯料刻痕,其方式使得围绕各种刻痕线折叠,使得上面部分30和下面部分32形成第一隔室12和第二隔室14。采用这种方法,上面部分30和下面部分32通常围绕连接部分18彼此为镜像。
来看纸箱坯料28的更多细节,坯料上面部分30和下面部分32各自包括限定隔室的背板或壁34的中心(通常为平面)部分。侧向侧盖片36和38从背板34的相对侧向边缘或折线40延伸。侧向侧盖片36和38通常彼此为镜像。每个侧向侧盖片36和38包括通常平行于侧向折线40延伸的中间折线42。折线42和40限定隔室的通常长方形的侧板或壁44。
侧翼46由每个侧向侧盖片36和38的其余部分限定并向外延伸中间折线42。侧翼46包括窄的顶端部分48和通常长方形的底端部分50。窄的顶端48,向外逐渐变细,与底端50的肩部分连接,形成超过顶端48向外突出的底端50的接头52。
连接部分18从背板34的顶边缘或折线54延伸,在之间横跨并连接上面坯料部分30和下面坯料部分32。底部盖片60位于从连接部分18的背板34的相对侧上,并从背板34的底边缘或折线62延伸。底部盖片60包括侧边缘64,该侧边缘64通常远离背板底部折线62垂直延伸至底边缘66。底部盖片60还包括中间折线68,该折线68通常平行于背板底部折线62延伸,其将底部盖片60分成位于与背板底部折线62相邻的底板或壁70和位于中间折线64外边的前板或壁72。前板72具有其主面,并且描述为通常为长方形,但是按需,或者可包括向内逐渐变细的侧边缘。
通过一种方法,侧板44和底板70具有基本类似的宽度,使得在其纸箱形成后(以下描述),第一隔室12和第二隔室14具有基本恒定的深度。在这种情况下,还优选连接部分18具有基本等于板44和70的宽度两倍的宽度,使得当第一隔室12和第二隔室14处于封闭的构型时,第一隔室12和第二隔室14的前板72可基本齐平。
为了形成隔室,在侧向侧盖片36和38的侧翼46的底端部分50上沉积永久胶粘剂部分74,在一种方法中,通常位于中心。这些永久胶粘剂部分74被配置以形成强的和非可再封闭的粘合,可包括合适的聚烯烃、热熔体或其它通常永久的胶粘剂。
胶粘剂基紧固件20还位于纸箱坯料上。在一种方法中,紧固件20的相对胶粘剂部分22被施用在第一隔室12和第二隔室14的前板72的主面上,在一种方法中,紧固件20的相对胶粘剂部分22延伸穿过该主面。在图1和5中说明的形式中,例如,相对胶粘剂部分22通常为穿过板72的主面延伸的胶粘剂的宽条或带;然而,各种施用可需要较少的胶粘剂或以各种形状、图案、尺寸、量、厚度等施用的胶粘剂。
在一些情况下,打开包装的力可与暴露用于粘着的胶粘剂量或总胶粘剂接触/表面积成比例。通过一些方法,可在所选的间歇部分、图案或斑块提供胶粘剂部分22,以调整打开包装的力和使剥离力适应每种类型的包装应用的要求。也就是,如果需要更多的粘合力,则相对于包装基材(即,前板72)的表面积,提供较大表面积的胶粘剂22。如果需要较少的粘合力,则相对于包装基材(即,前板72),提供较小表面积的胶粘剂22。因此,仅通过选择胶粘剂的涂布图案和表面积,通过改变暴露的胶粘剂/胶粘剂接触面积22与前板72的主面的面积的比率,就可定制打开包装的力,而无需改变胶粘剂制剂、厚度和组成。这有利地提供可用于许多不同类型的包装的稳健的胶粘剂。
存在许多类型的胶粘剂的图案或部分,其可用于调整胶粘力。该图案可重复规则的、对称的、不规则的或非对称的图案。实例包括但不限于以不同的角度和倾斜程度取向的圆、正方、其它形状、线、条。来看图8-11,显示一些实例。通过一种方法并且如图8和9所示,在隔室12和14上的一个或两个胶粘剂部分22可具有向其施用或在其上沉积的胶粘剂的条或排76。在说明的形式中,胶粘剂条76为彼此间隔并且相对于前板72的相邻边缘以约45°倾斜布置的胶粘剂的薄的伸长部分;然而,可使用不同的角度、间距和倾斜程度。通过一种方法,第一隔室12和第二隔室14的两个胶粘剂部分22包括以基本相同的角度倾斜的相对对准的胶粘剂条76,使得当前板72共同绕轴旋转时,相对胶粘剂部分粘合在一起,以封闭包装10。或者,当封闭时,仅部分相对胶粘剂条76可对准;因此,在这种情况下,通常由于在胶粘剂部分22之间较低量的重叠,隔室将具有较小的粘合力而粘附。或者并且如图8所示,第一隔室12或第二隔室14中的一个的胶粘剂条76可以通常垂直的角度与其它隔室(未示出)的胶粘剂条76延伸。通过该备选的方法,当前板72共同绕轴旋转时,胶粘剂条76通常彼此交叉,并且在这些交叉点粘附。
通过另一种方法,胶粘剂部分之一,例如第一隔室12的胶粘剂部分22,可为固体或相对大的长方形胶粘剂斑块与在第二隔室14上提供的较小的胶粘剂条76的组合,通常如图9所示。在这种形式中,胶粘剂条76通常降低可粘附的表面积,其降低使隔室保持在一起的粘合力。通过利用胶粘剂条76与相对大的长方形斑块22的组合,还降低用于形成包装封闭体的胶粘剂的量,并且使隔室保持在一起的胶粘剂粘合力可如期望的变化,这取决于条76的尺寸和相对胶粘剂部分22的形式和形状。通过一种方法,包括胶粘剂条76的第二隔室14包括足够量的间隔的胶粘剂条76,使得全部的条覆盖前板72的大致相同的表面积或表面区域(footprint),作为在第一板14上的相对大的胶粘剂斑块22。如所理解的,对于具体的施用和胶粘剂粘合力,在图8和9的实例中的胶粘剂条的数量、间距、倾斜、宽度和长度可按需变化。
在另一种形式中,如图10和11所示,胶粘剂22还可施用于其它形状的前板72或在沉积在前板72上,例如一种或多种圆78,如这些图所示。圆78可形成一个或两个胶粘剂部分22,这取决于在隔室12和14之间的期望粘着强度、期望的胶粘剂用量等,如上所论述的。虽然显示了圆,但是可利用任何合适的形状,例如长方形、三角形、其它规则的或不规则的多边形、曲线形状或它们的组合。与胶粘剂条76类似,例如当圆形成两个胶粘剂部分22 (图11)时,包装可随后对准圆78,以将隔室封闭和粘附在一起。不恰当的对准将不可重新密封包装,或者可重新密封包装但是隔室之间的粘着显著较小。通过使用条或离散的形状,构型倾向于降低在包装上所需的低粘性胶粘剂的量,同时使得发生稍温和的重新密封作用。此外,这种构型倾向于仅当封闭时,当各种条或离散的胶粘剂部分彼此对准时,可重新密封。
这样配置,纸箱坯料28可随后装配在包装10内,其中间阶段如图6所示。为了形成包装,侧向侧盖片36和38可首先被折叠或通常向内围绕折线40和42绕轴旋转,使得侧板44通常垂直于背板34,并且侧翼46被间隔并且通常平行于背板34,其中永久胶粘剂部分74远离背板34面向外面。接着,底部盖片60随后被折叠或向内绕轴旋转至与背板34相邻的位置,使得底板70通常垂直于背板34,并且前板72被间隔并且通常平行于背板34。前板72的相对侧向末端部分80可随后通过永久胶粘剂部分74永久紧固或固定于侧向侧盖片36和38的侧翼46。或者,胶粘剂部分74可在前板末端部分80上沉积。可采用类似的方式制造两个隔室。
具有这种定位,施用于前板72上的主内面的胶粘剂基紧固件20的胶粘剂部分22现在各自远离背板34面向外面。具有这样形成的第一隔室12和第二隔室14,一种或多种产品16可随后通过隔室内部24在每个隔室12和14内沉积或放置。一旦隔室已填充有期望量的产品16,则第一隔室12和第二隔室14可随后转换或通常朝向彼此围绕连接部分18绕轴旋转,如图2所示,并且通过在第一隔室12和第二隔室14的背板34上施用温和向内的压力紧固在一起,这样将紧固件20的相对胶粘剂部分22粘附在一起。
为了使胶粘剂基紧固件20适当地起作用,形成包装的基材26具有大于围绕基材的紧固件20的剥离强度的内部强度。因此,当将包装10打开时,沿着粘结/粘着线21将产生剥离力(图4),而不是使包装基材脱层。如果胶粘剂剥离强度超过基材的内部强度,则撕裂、脱层,基材破损可能导致紧固件不适当地起作用。通过一种方法,通过在向包装基材层压或涂布聚合物层,包装基材26可实现期望的强度。通过另一种方法,纸板可用化学补强剂浸渍,例如在美国专利号4,617,223中所论述的,其通过引用而全文结合到本文中。例如,化学补强剂可为与纸板基材内的羟基反应以形成固化的聚氨酯加强的异氰酸酯或多异氰酸酯。也可使用其它补强剂。
现在来看图7,显示包装10的备选的形式,其使用单独的模切坯料用于胶粘或紧固在一起的每个隔室12和14而形成。通过该方法,第一隔室12和第二隔室14类似地结构化和形成,但是连接部分18分成单独的片段18a和18b,它们可随后重叠和粘附或通过胶、胶粘剂、紧固件、焊接等另外紧固在一起,以连接第一隔室12与第二隔室14。在说明的形式中,坯料第一部分30包括远离背板折线54而延伸的第一连接部分片段84。坯料第二部分32包括远离背板折线54而延伸的类似的连接盖片86,并且具有与背板顶部折线54相邻的第二连接部分片段88和位于第二连接部分片段86外面的紧固片段90。如图7所示,合适的胶粘剂92可随后沿着紧固片段布置,由此在其上可重叠和紧固第一连接部分片段84。可如上所述形成包装10的其余部分。
折线40、42、54、56、62和68可采用任何合适的形式,包括,例如,刻痕线、划线、规则和不规则的穿孔、活铰链、褶痕、它们的组合、或其它类似的易损坏区域。另外,折线40、42、54、62和68可通过任何合适的方式产生,包括,一种或多种模具、转模、激光,等。
通过一种方法,包装基材26可为纸板、层压板、卡纸板、瓦楞纸板、刚性塑料、箔、金属或它们的混合物。通过其它方法,包装基材26可为SBS (固体漂白硫酸盐)纸板,部分由于该材料良好的折叠性质。或者,包装基材26可由一些其它合适的材料组成,例如聚氯乙烯(PVC)。
在另一种方法,至少一部分包装基材26(在一些情况下,接触胶粘剂22的外层)可包括聚合物涂层、层、填充剂和/或密封剂层,以增强紧固件20的胶粘剂22与包装基材26之间的界面结合。在一种形式中,聚合物涂层可选自乙烯乙酸乙烯酯(EVA)、聚烯烃(例如聚乙烯),或它们的共混物。如果使用,聚合物层可包括促进粘着的填充剂颗粒。在一种形式中,填充剂可为以下的微米-或纳米-尺寸的填充剂:粘土、碳酸钙、蒙脱石、微晶二氧化硅、白云石(dolmite)、滑石、云母、氧化物、(氧化硅、氧化铝、氧化钛等)和其它添加剂和/或它们的组合,其在至少聚合物涂层、前板72、其上的密封剂层或包装基材26的表面层之内或之上,以增强紧固件胶粘剂22与包装基材26的结合。
尤其是可采用有机粘土填充剂,并且在一个方面有机粘土填充剂为有机改性的蒙脱土。有机粘土为有机改性的天然粘土例如用表面活性剂例如季铵盐加工或处理的蒙脱土粘土。蒙脱土为通常包含水合的钠钙铝镁硅酸盐氢氧化物的页硅酸盐类矿物质。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,有机粘土填充的基材可具有帮助产生可操作和可再封闭的胶粘剂基封闭体的能力,这是因为填充剂帮助在低粘性胶粘剂和包装基材之间形成强粘着,使得当打开包装10时胶粘剂不自包装基材26脱层。
在可用于包装基材26的密封剂层或其它涂层的聚乙烯和EVA中有效地分散粘土或其它填充剂可成为一种挑战,这是由于粘土填充剂与某些聚合物的不相容性。因此,采用填充剂组合物(包括用相容载体共混的填充剂)供给填充剂有助于使填充剂混合并分散于密封剂层中。通过一种方法,粘土填充剂可以以用于涂布或施用于基材的马来酸酐接枝线型低密度聚乙烯载体(MA-LLDPE)的形式提供。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,载体的马来酸酐部分对粘土填充剂具有亲和性,并且载体的聚乙烯部分与密封剂层的其它聚合物很好混合。示例性粘土填充剂组合物可得自PolyOne Corporation (Avon Lake, Ohio)。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,确信可为高极性的有机改性粘土粒子和/或与粘土填充剂一起存在的马来酸酐接枝线型低密度聚乙烯(MA-LLDPE)载体树脂通过增加基材层的表面能量用来促进所固化的胶粘剂涂层与基材表面的粘附。
另外,也确信在微观水平上,粘土或其它填充剂添加剂可赋予基材表面粗糙度,正面地影响基材的摩擦系数并在基材与涂层之间增加可利用的接触面积,从而提供更多的位点用于发生化学和/或机械粘合。通过一种方法,密封剂层中约0.5%-约20%重量的填充剂组合物预计对紧固件20与包装基材26的粘合强度具有有益的影响,以致于与基材的粘合大于胶粘剂部分22之间的剥离附着,使得紧固件20在打开时不脱层。另外,填充剂可将使其在未粘附的包装设备金属表面上自由滑行的基材表面变得粗糙,从而使得能够减少或消除聚合物涂层或层中的移动增滑剂(migratory slip additive)。
在一些情况下,基材26上的聚合物层的任选组分可包括移动增滑剂,其有助于减小基底与其它表面之间的摩擦系数,使得基材能够在金属表面或自身上自由滑动。在一个方面,可提供芥酸酰胺增滑剂(即不饱和脂肪伯酰胺)。使用2000 ppm-7000 ppm范围内的增滑剂,然而,已经发现在这些高水平下胶粘剂难以粘附于基材的低能量表面,因为增滑剂封闭可发生粘附的表面位点。然而,加入填充剂使得能够使用低得多水平,例如少于约1000 ppm的增滑剂。在其它的情况中,基材含有少于约700 ppm的增滑剂或者在另一些情况中不含增滑剂。由于使用填充剂减少基材与其它表面之间的摩擦系数,先前通过加入移动增滑剂获得了效果,这使得移动增滑剂浓度被降低或者消除。比通常使用的更低的移动增滑剂水平也可有助于在初始和随时间的推移两者增加所固化涂层与基材的粘附,因为存在更少的添加剂干扰涂层与基材的粘附。尽管不希望受到理论的限制,确信为低分子量组分的增滑剂中的脂肪酸酰胺可迁移或大量出现(bloom)于聚合物层表面,影响基材表面与胶粘剂紧固件20之间的粘合强度。然而电晕处理或火焰处理起初可烧掉聚合物层表面上的任何脂肪酸酰胺,导致产生初始良好的胶粘剂粘合强度。随着时间的推移,另外的脂肪酸酰胺可迁移或大量出现于聚合物层表面,这导致在延长的贮存期内减少粘合强度。
另外,在向包装基材26施用胶粘剂之前,在一些情况下,基材可经受表面预处理以增加表面能量和/或施用底涂。例如,可能的表面处理可包括电晕处理、等离子体处理、火焰处理等或者也可采用化学涂料例如底涂料(primer)或粘附促进剂。电晕处理可增加基材的表面能量,这可改善涂料附着并保持附着于基材的能力。电晕预处理可包括氧化表面并使表面接纳涂料的离子云。电晕预处理基本上氧化聚合物基材上的反应位点。如果电晕处理,理想地表面能量在处理之后应为约40达因/cm或者更大。
不希望受到理论的束缚,在一些情况下,确信电晕处理基材表面有助于在涂层与基材表面之间提供强的粘合,这是由于基材表面的表面能量增加。除了电晕处理以外,预处理与低浓度增滑剂的组合和在基材26中掺入填充剂组合物共同导致在可再封闭的紧固件与基材之间产生强的粘合。
现在参考在包装中包装口香糖产品来描述一种示例性装配过程。如果产品不同,装配过程当然会变化。如图中的模型(phantom)所示,包装10可具有一定尺寸并配置在垂直取向将口香糖块例如口香糖的伸长厚片保持在一起,然而,对于具体应用,口香糖也可按需以不同的取向放置在包装中。通常,制造口香糖产品,随后冷冻和老化。如下制备厚片和棍式口香糖(stick gum):将口香糖产品滚动成为片材,将其切割成为带(lane),随后刻痕成为单个的块。在一些情况下,其可用于口香糖的单个厚片以单个缠绕在蜡纸的单独片材中,随后将一排这样的口香糖厚片缠绕,其方式可放置在箔半袋(未示出)中。同时装配口香糖包装。在一些情况下,可将纸箱基材印刷、切割、刻痕,并且将胶粘剂以期望的图案和期望的剥离力所需的厚度在其上印刷或施用。随后将纸箱坯料折叠、填充、组装、封闭,并且具有撕条(未示出)的透明膜可与外部连接。可制备具有12个这种包装的显示盘,这些显示盘与透明膜外部缠绕,随后将它们放置在瓦楞托运装置(shipper)中,码垛堆积,随后收缩-缠绕。随后将其储入仓库并运送至分配中心。在其它情况下,盘可按需容纳或多或少的包装。
在一些实施方案中,口香糖厚片可与包装或其隔室粘附或另外连接。这可防止口香糖厚片在包装内部脱落或倾斜。因此,口香糖厚片可松开地与包装紧固或连接或者紧固或连接到包装内。存在许多可能性将口香糖厚片粘附在包装内。一种可能性可以是将口香糖厚片放置在箔半袋、纸或塑料条、围绕带缠绕、或其它类型的片材样材料(本文中统称为“片材”)之内或之上,随后将其放置在包装内。片材可包括单层或多层。这些层之一可包括水分阻挡材料以降低当口香糖厚片在包装中时被口香糖厚片吸收的水分的量。
作为使用片材的备选,可将口香糖厚片直接放置在包装内,而不使用片材。如果将厚片直接放置在包装内,它们(或它们的包装纸(wrapper))可能与其粘附或不粘附。例如,口香糖厚片可通过蜡或其它胶粘剂与包装的一个或多个内表面粘附。蜡或胶粘剂可包括或提供于与多于一个口香糖厚片粘附的胶粘剂的一个或多个条或带中。包装自身可在其内表面上含有石蜡或其它蜡状材料,以与口香糖厚片粘合。或者,可在包装的一个或多个内表面上产生多个蜡或胶粘剂斑点或区域,各自与一个或多个口香糖厚片或围绕口香糖厚片的包装纸连接。如果使用围绕口香糖厚片的包装纸,用于将口香糖厚片与包装粘合的胶粘剂将使包装纸与包装粘附。胶粘剂粘合可足够强以防止或降低包装纸可从包装除去的可能性。因此,当将口香糖厚片从包装和包装纸中除去时,包装纸将保留在包装中。或者,包装纸和包装之间的胶粘剂粘合可使得包装纸和口香糖厚片可从包装除去,但是足够强以保持包装纸中的口香糖厚片免于从包装脱落或在包装内倾斜。实例可在国际公布号WO2005/110885中提供,其通过引用而全文结合到本文中。
作为另一个备选,口香糖厚片可彼此粘附,而与在包装中是否使用片材无关。例如,可将胶粘剂的滴或条放置在口香糖厚片或它们的包装纸上,使得口香糖厚片或它们的包装纸保持在一起。可将胶粘剂的滴或条放置在口香糖厚片的一侧或多侧上,其可放置在包装中的并排构型。还可使用相同或不同的胶粘剂,以将口香糖厚片粘附于外壳和/或片材。
如果存在片材,可使用一些类型的冷或热胶粘剂使口香糖厚片粘附于片材,随后片材的外部可粘附于包装的内表面或壁。可使用一种或多种胶粘剂条、斑点或其它区域,以将片材粘附于包装的一个或多个内表面。或者,片材不需要粘附于包装,并且简单地可放置在包装内部。还可期望厚片不粘附于片材,以及随后片材粘附于包装。或者,片材不需要粘附于包装。
一种可能性可包括将片材和口香糖厚片均粘附于包装的一个或多个内表面或壁。例如,当将口香糖厚片放置在片材之上或之中时,可使用仅覆盖口香糖厚片一部分的片材或小袋,使得当将片材和口香糖厚片放置在包装的内部时,厚片(或它们的包装纸)的顶部部分向上延伸超过片材的边缘。可将胶粘剂条施用于包装的口香糖隔室的内后壁,其位置与小袋的上部边缘大致齐平或重叠。如果胶粘剂条足够大,则其可使得小袋和口香糖厚片的顶部部分粘贴于包装的内表面。或者,可使用两种不同的胶粘剂条,一条使厚片(或它们的包装纸)与包装粘附,而一条使片材粘附于包装的一个或多个内壁或表面。这两条胶粘剂可位于包装的相同的内后壁上,或例如,一条可在包装的内后壁上,以使口香糖厚片的顶部部分粘附于包装的内后壁,而一条在包装的内前壁上,以使片材粘附于包装的内前壁。
虽然结合厚片口香糖描述了上述包装10,但是其也可适用于其它可食用或甚至非食物产品。此外,每个隔室可容纳少至一大块口香糖。此外,本文描述的包装可用于容纳其它类型的单块消费品(例如,饼干、巧克力棒、太妃糖、乳脂糖、水果卷等)。或者,其可用于销售、邮寄、分配或容纳非可食用产品,例如照片、礼券、票、邮票、拼图(puzzle pieces)、游戏片(game pieces)等。在包装中的单个产品可均相同,或者它们可为可装配在一起的不同产品,或者在可食用产品的情况下,它们可为不同的类型或味道。包装还可用于容纳药物或营养保健品,例如药丸、维生素、口腔护理条等或可能不经咀嚼或吞咽的产品(例如,咀嚼烟草、用于牙龈疾病的疼痛减轻条等)。
如可理解的,胶粘剂基紧固件和包装设计存在许多优点。一个优点是,该设计提供等同于使用接头和槽缝布置的更常见的盖片-类型封闭体的再封闭功能,但是由于不需要塞(tap),使用少至多约20%的材料来形成包装。另一个优点将胶粘剂基再封闭功能与能使包装具有一定尺寸用于单排产品的纸箱构型组合,例如单排口香糖厚片,与存在于现有包装中彼此相邻的两排或更多排的口香糖厚片相比。在这种情况下,更容易一次取出单块,并且其余块不太可能从包装脱落。此外,包装10具有更令人愉悦和漂亮的外观,这可有助于与他人分享口香糖产品。此外,该包装以容易和单一的运动紧固封闭并且完全包封口香糖产品。使用者不需要摸索向窄的槽缝内插入小接头。仅通过用手指将包装压在一起,该包装可用一只手紧固封闭。
现在来看胶粘剂22的细节,低粘性胶粘剂的一个实例描述于2010年2月26日提交的美国临时专利申请号61/308,540,其通过引用而全文结合到本文中。通过一种方法,相对的胶粘剂部分22每一个可在温热的温度下,例如在约160°F (71℃)下,但是可在约86°F (30℃)-约190°F (88℃)范围内以液态涂料混合物(其可被加热并施用于包装基材26)的形式提供。在施用涂料后,可包含所添加的光引发剂的所施用涂料混合物可曝露于UV处理,以固化(聚合)涂料并在包装基材上形成固态胶粘剂基紧固件20。在一个方面,施用的涂料可具有约0.0005英寸,但是可在约0.0001英寸-约0.005英寸范围内的厚度,然而取决于包装设计、构型和要求,可施用厚得多的涂层。通过一种方法,涂料混合物不包含任何需要被去除的溶剂并且可易于在高速涂布和印制线上被施用到包装基材。
胶粘剂的第一组分为一种或更多种UV-可固化的丙烯酸酯或丙烯酸低聚物。例如,UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物可为具有多重反应性或官能团的丙烯酸或甲基丙烯酸酯(即丙烯酸或甲基丙烯酸低聚物)。通常,官能团包含一个UV反应性位点。UV反应性位点最通常为共轭于另一个不饱和位点例如酯羰基的碳-碳双键。通过一种方法,UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物为多官能醇的丙烯酸或甲基丙烯酸酯,这意指低聚物在低聚物的烃骨架上具有多于一个丙烯酸酯化(acrylated)或甲基丙烯酸酯化的羟基。通过一种方法,胶粘剂可包含约1%-约90%重量的UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物并且官能度为约1.2-约6.0。在另一种方法中,UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物可具有约2.0-约3.0的官能度,和/或在胶粘剂中以约20%至约70%重量的量提供。
在一种形式中,多官能的UV-可固化的丙烯酸酯为具有2.0或更大反应性官能度的植物油的丙烯酸酯。在另一方面,UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物可包含环氧化的大豆油丙烯酸酯。通常,基于优选的胶粘剂组分比(ACR) (本文将论述的),所使用的UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物的量可影响最终胶粘剂的性能。例如,当基于优选ACR的UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物的量太低时,最终胶粘剂的固化速率太慢。在另一方面,当基于优选ACR的UV-可固化的丙烯酸低聚物的量太高时,最终胶粘剂可被充分地固化,但是对于密封和再密封可具有不足够的自身粘附性能(self adhesion properties)。
胶粘剂的第二组分为粘性控制剂。通过一种方法,胶粘剂可包含约1%-约65%重量的粘性控制剂。在另一种方法中,粘性控制剂可以约20%-约65%的量存在。粘性控制剂可包括增粘树脂或可固化聚合物/单体组合,其在固化时可产生适合于可再封闭紧固件20的所要求水平的粘性和自身粘附性能。在一个方面,粘性控制剂可包括脂肪族氨基甲酸酯丙烯酸酯化的低聚物。适合于可UV-可固化PSA胶粘剂的许多其它类型粘性控制剂也可用于可再封闭胶粘剂系统。
胶粘剂的任选第三组分为至少一种弹性或橡胶组分。通过一种方法,弹性组分可包括至少一种可固化的丙烯酸酯化(即丙烯酸改性的)或甲基丙烯酸酯化的羟基封端弹性聚合物(即弹性多元醇)的酯。这种弹性组分可包括丙烯酸改性的聚丁二烯、饱和的聚丁二烯和/或柔性聚氨酯。在一个方面,可提供甲基丙烯酸酯化的聚丁二烯。当用于胶粘剂时,弹性材料可以约0%-约20%的量提供。在一个方面,弹性材料可以约5%-约15%的量提供。可制备具有所要求的低粘性、如本文描述的可再封闭性并且不包含弹性组分的令人满意的胶粘剂,然而,确信弹性组分有助于获得最佳涂层性能。最佳胶粘剂性能可通过性能例如自身粘附、粘性、粘度和固化速率限定,仅举几例。弹性组分用于调节剥离强度性能、基材粘附强度、增加柔性、粘度控制和固化速率调节。
为了获得如本文描述的对包装基材平衡的剥离、粘性和粘附,确定三种胶粘剂组分的量需要落入丙烯酸酯低聚物相对于弹性和粘性组分的特定胶粘剂组分比(即ACR)范围内。优选地,对于胶粘剂的ACR为:
在另一种方法中,ACR可在约0.8-约1.5的范围内。
已经发现对于制剂中三种组分的ACR范围提供独特的胶粘剂制剂,其对非相似物质(即机械组件、碎屑、颗粒、食物碎片等)具有低粘性,然而可以足够的粘附或剥离强度自身密封,以保持在期间密封及抗玷污。以该具体ACR存在的胶粘剂也提供了可再封闭功能,其在经历反复打开和封闭操作时不显著减少或丧失其密封-剥离-再密封性质。低于约0.5的ACR值通常是不合需要的,因为胶粘剂将需要显著大量的UV能量以固化。如果ACR高于约1.5,胶粘剂将快速固化,但是其也将具有低的(或无)剥离强度,这对于本文的胶粘剂封闭体是不可接受的。除了所要求的ACR范围以外,令人满意的胶粘剂制剂在一些情况中也可具有某些其它参数例如组分的混合物稳定性、制剂的一定粘度、一定的固化速率和/或一定的剥离强度。
不仅是所要求胶粘剂组分的ACR,而且胶粘剂组分也必须相互相容,以便它们形成稳定的可流动液体混合物。如本文使用的,胶粘剂当其(最少两种或三种主要组分)保持为均质液体时被认为是稳定的,即当在室温(约70°F-75°F)下保持至多3天时不存在组分的可见相分离,并且不形成凝胶。
另外,胶粘剂制剂在室温下可具有在约10000-约50000厘泊(cPs)范围内或更少的粘度,或者在约160°F (71℃)下约2000 cPs或更少,并且在一些情况下,在约160°F (71℃)下约200 cPs或更少的粘度。该粘度范围便于采用常规印刷、辊涂、狭槽模(slot-die)施用技术向薄膜基材施用胶粘剂。
为了在基材上产生充分固化的胶粘剂层,胶粘剂可采用能够传递在约100 mJ/cm2-约800 mJ/cm2范围内能量的UV光源固化。这继而有助于确保胶粘剂已被充分地固化,如经约100次来回摩擦或更多的MEK耐摩擦试验值(ASTM D5402-06)测定的那样(更多的细节将在本文中论述)。
适当固化胶粘剂的平均初始剥离强度可在约200 gpli-约900 gpli的范围内,特别是,约280 gpli-约800 gpli,如经ASTM D3330/D3330M-04方法F测定的那样。胶粘剂也被设计在反复打开和封闭操作后保持其平均剥离(即保粘性(adhesion retention))。优选地,所固化的胶粘剂可保持其在约280 gpli和约800 gpli之间的平均初始层剥离粘着力达到至少5次重复剥离-再密封循环。优选地,在剥离-再密封-剥离时的粘附性保留值可在初始值的约30%-约200%之间。在用饼干(cracker)污染胶粘剂时,粘附性保留值可在初始值的约30%-约150%之间。
一种示例性饼干或碎屑污染测试包括以下步骤:首先,得到Triscuit®饼干并采用玻璃缸底部碾碎。以该方式粉碎饼干产生了小颗粒。接着,将2英寸直径的环形夹具置于待测样品的胶粘剂上。将约5克饼干屑放置到样品上的环内。将样品与环轻轻地来回摇动以使饼干屑沉淀到可再封闭紧固件的胶粘剂表面上。自样品除去环并将饼干屑轻轻地抖落出样品且丢掉。将环重新放回到基材上的初始位置并且暴露于饼干屑的区域对被保留的饼干屑的量直观地进行评级。采用视觉评定级别0-100,其中0意指没有保留视觉可见的碎屑,而100意指整个表面被附着的碎屑覆盖。污染后,将胶粘剂重新密封,将胶粘剂粘合力与未经污染的胶粘剂粘合力相比较。
通过一些方法,也可向胶粘剂中加入UV光引发剂以助于引发固化过程。光引发剂可以约0.1%-约5%的量存在。在一个方面,光引发剂可包括苯甲酮衍生物与增效剂化合物的共混物。增效剂化合物为通过电子转移和夺氢反应(hydrogen abstraction)与被激发的苯甲酮分子相互作用形成自由基的化合物。一个实例为包含三甲基苯甲酰基二苯基氧化膦、α-羟基酮和苯甲酮衍生物的混合物,其中增效剂化合物包括所列举的头两种化合物。在另一个方面,光引发剂可包含盐或其它由UV光活化的酸性物质。粘合剂可包含阳离子型反应性物质例如环氧化物、乙烯基酯等。任选地,这些物质也可与用羧酸、羟基或其它亲核基团官能化的树脂交联。
其它示例性包装结构在图12和13中说明,如图12所示,伸长盒子形式的纸箱100具有相应的相对前壁102和后壁104,以及在前壁102和后壁104之间延伸的侧壁106。使用这种类型的包装,纸箱100的上端敞开,且末端盖片108远离前壁102和后壁104而延伸以及侧盖片110远离侧壁106而延伸。封闭纸箱100的敞开端的一种方式包括首先围绕折线112绕轴旋转或折叠侧盖片110,随后围绕折线114绕轴旋转或折叠末端盖片108,使得末端盖片为重叠关系。在该应用中,胶粘剂基紧固件20,尤其是其胶粘剂部分22,如上所述的,可布置在末端盖片108的相对面116上,允许纸箱100再封闭,使得当末端盖片108重叠时,胶粘剂部分22彼此接合或接触。
通过如图13所示的另一种方法,显示了封套或香袋形式的包装200,其使用通过折线204与封套主体连接的单一的铰链式盖片202。在该布置中,盖片202可绕轴旋转或折叠,以覆盖封套的开口206。有利地,如上所述的胶粘剂基紧固件20可具有在盖片202的内面208上布置的一个胶粘剂部分22和在包装200的外部主要表面主体210上布置的另一个胶粘剂部分22。该构型通过使盖片202粘附于包装主体210使得包装200可被重复打开和封闭。对于具体的应用,按需要,紧固件20也可用于其它类型的盒子、纸箱、包装等。
来看图14和15,说明形成包装10的示例性方法。通常,包装10可根据如图14所示的方法800产生。通过一种方法,以合适的图案将低粘性胶粘剂施用于包装基材802。低粘性胶粘剂随后固化804。一旦施用胶粘剂基紧固件20并在包装基材上固化,包装基材就准备好在包装10内形成806。一旦形成,包装10随后可例如用食品等填充。
更具体地并且如图15所示,包装基材经受包装形成过程900。首先,可在包装基材上印刷902或另外布置图像和/或字母数字内容。这还可包括向包装基材上印刷902面漆(overlacquer)等。印刷可通过任何合适的方法进行,例如包括柔性版印刷方法(flexo process)、胶版印刷或凹版印刷方法。随后让印刷品干燥906。如果期望,还可将聚合物涂层施用于基材。接着,通过合适方法可将低粘性胶粘剂施用906于基材,例如槽缝-模具涂布、柔性版印刷方法或凹版印刷方法。低粘性胶粘剂随后被固化908。固化后,可将包装基材通过任何合适的装置(例如一种或多种模具、转模、激光等)切割910成为一个或多个坯料等,并储存以备将来使用。当需要使用时,将坯料传送912至包装线。或者,坯料可使用包装线在线形成。在包装线上,通过围绕各种折线折叠坯料形成隔室12、14,向坯料28的前翼46施用永久胶粘剂74,并使前板72与前翼46粘附。如果适用如图7所示的包装形式,可使用永久胶粘剂将单独的隔室12、14粘附916在一起。一旦产生隔室12、14,它们可随后用一种或多种产品16填充918,并围绕桥18绕轴旋转至如图3所示的封闭的位置。随后被填充的包装10可在透明的外包装膜中缠绕920,并在外用标准袋(outer master pouch)或包装中用其它缠绕的包装装配和密封922。将多个外用标准袋或包装装入924一个或多个箱子中,并运送至消费者、零售商店等。
或者,可在其它过程位置处将低粘性胶粘剂施用于包装。例如,对于具体的应用,按需要,可在模切910后、形成纸箱914后或在填充918后施用低粘性胶粘剂。
应理解的是,采用在所附权利要求中表述的具体包装和方法的原则和范围,本领域技术人员将对本文中描述和说明的包装及其形成过程(为了说明所描述包装的性质)的细节、材料和排列进行各种修改。

Claims (28)

1.一种包装,其包含:
第一隔室和第二隔室;
在所述第一和第二隔室之间的连接部分,使得隔室配置为在具有彼此相邻的第一和第二隔室的封闭构型与具有移开的第一和第二隔室的敞开构型之间转换;和
可再封闭的胶粘剂基紧固件,其包括在第一和第二隔室上排列的相对的胶粘剂部分,使得当包装处于封闭构型时,相对的胶粘剂部分粘附在一起,并且相对的胶粘剂部分被配置用于重复剥离和重新密封粘合以允许重复打开和封闭包装。
