ディングアセンブリ605を下に移動する間に、接着剤が前面の垂直の縁に付け
られる(文書の第1のシート以外)。この構成は、プリンタを介した紙の移動が
個別ののり付けステーションで中断または停止しないように、印刷の間接着剤を
各ページに付けるようにしていることが理解されるであろう。これによってプリ
ンタの速度が増大するが、ページが「縦長(portrait、縦方向)」の構成のプリ
ンタを動くことが必要である(すなわち、長い縁に平行な方向)。このため、紙
トレイ、バインディング位置および収集位置が縦長の構成であることが必要であ
る。このため、プリンタ全体の長さが長くなり限定されたスペースしか有しない
領域には適合できない場合がある。このような場合、媒体トレイ、バインディン
グ位置および収集位置は「横長」の方向で配置し(短い辺が紙の移動に平行)、
プリンタの長さを短くすることができる。しかし、のり付けアセンブリはページ
の長い辺に沿って糊を付けることができなければならない。この壁掛けプリンタ
のバージョン(図示せず)では、糊は往復糊ストリップで各ページの長手方向の
縁に付けられる。

動するばね式成形バインディングプラテン687、シート604が移動した後に
文書618を支持する成形角度付きプラテン(molded angled platen)689、
支持ブラケット691を伴う排紙ハッチ690を有する。印刷されたページ60

ン687は、電動式ケーブルワインダ軸(winder shaft)694に付属するホイ

順方向に推進される。ケーブルワインダ軸694が回転するとケーブルループ6
93は短くなり、バインディングプラテン687を順方向に移動する。この電動
式の軸694はスリップクラッチ機構を有し、シート604を前のシートの後に
押し出す必要な速度を提供し、のり付け/バインドし、戻りばね699の作用で
ホームポジションに戻って次の印刷されたシートを受け取る。往復プラテン(re
ciprocating platen)の単一の動作サイクルは2秒未満しかかからない。
文書の別のページを印刷する時間に大幅に時間を追加せずにバインドされた文書
を作成する。さらに接着剤が直接付けられてからそのページが前のページに押し
つけられる。各ページの後ろに接着剤を付け、続いて各ページを続くページに押
しつけると、紙の供給を補給するなど印刷プロセスを中断すると最後に接着され
たページに付けられた接着剤の質が低下して効果が減少する場合があるため、本
発明の方法のほうが効果的である。
