Description
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓN
La presente invención se refiere a cintas para la cabeza, y en particular, a cintas que tienen un indicador de tensión para indicar cuando una cinta para la cabeza está estirada adecuadamente y de este modo, es capaz de ejercer un nivel de presión apropiado a la cabeza del usuario.
Se conocen varios dispositivos de cinta para la cabeza. Incluyen los dispositivos de cinta para la cabeza de tipo deportivo, así como dispositivos de cinta para la cabeza más sofisticados, como los utilizados para montar dispositivos sobre la cabeza. Algunos dispositivos de cinta para la cabeza se utilizan para aplicar un determinado nivel de presión a la zona bajo la cinta de la cabeza. Dichas presiones aplicadas son útiles, por ejemplo, para soportar un sensor médico para el usuario de la cinta de la cabeza. En dichas circunstancias, existe una necesidad de una cinta para la cabeza mejorada que tenga un indicador de tensión. Una cinta absorbente para el sudor se conoce a partir del documento US 5826277.
BREVE RESUMEN DE LA INVENCIÓN
Es un objeto de la presente invención proporcionar una cinta para la cabeza con un indicador de tensión. Este objeto puede lograrse mediante las características que se definen en las reivindicaciones independientes. En las reivindicaciones adjuntas se presentan mejoras adicionales. En una realización, la presente invención proporciona el uso de una cinta para la cabeza que tiene un segmento elástico dimensionado para ajustarse a la cabeza del usuario; y un segmento no elástico menor que, y unido al segmento elástico. El segmento no elástico está adaptado para extenderse sobre una parte del segmento elástico cuando el segmento elástico está estirado, y el segmento no elástico es mayor que la parte del segmento elástico sobre la que se extiende cuando el segmento elástico no está estirado. En otra realización, la presente invención proporciona dicha cinta para la cabeza como un sistema en combinación con un sensor de oximetría.
En un aspecto, el segmento no elástico está unido al segmento elástico de tal modo que el segmento no elástico se proyecta fuera de la superficie de la parte elástica cuando la cinta para la cabeza no está suficientemente apretada, creando así un bucle que proporciona una indicación visual de que la cinta para la cabeza debe reajustarse.
En otro aspecto, el segmento no elástico está formado con un doblez o pliegue, que hace que la parte no elástica se proyecte hacia fuera de la superficie de la parte elástica de forma pronunciada a medida que se retrae el segmento elástico.
En otro aspecto, el segmento no elástico está adaptado para no proyectarse fuera de la superficie de la parte elástica cuando la cinta para la cabeza está suficientemente apretada, indicando así un nivel de tensión adecuado correspondiente con el ejercicio de una presión en el rango mayor que la presión venosa y menor que la presión capilar a la frente del usuario.
En una realización alternativa, la presente invención proporciona el uso de una cinta para la cabeza que tiene un segmento no elástico adaptado para ajustarse a la cabeza del usuario; y un segmento elástico menor que, y unido al segmento no elástico. El segmento elástico está adaptado para extenderse sobre una parte del segmento no elástico cuando el segmento elástico está estirado, y el segmento elástico es menor que la parte del segmento no elástico sobre la que se extiende cuando el segmento elástico no está estirado.
Para un mayor entendimiento de la naturaleza y ventajas de la invención, debe hacerse referencia, a modo de ejemplo, a la siguiente descripción tomada en combinación con los dibujos adjuntos.

DESCRIPCIÓN DETALLADA DE LA INVENCIÓN
Las realizaciones de la presente invención están dirigidas a una cinta para la cabeza con un indicador de tensión. Dicha cinta para la cabeza puede utilizarse como soporte para la administración de un servicio sanitario a un paciente. Dicho servicio puede incluir la colocación de un sensor 101 en la frente del paciente, como por ejemplo, un sensor de oximetría (por ejemplo, los fabricados por Nellcor Puritan Bennett, cesionario de estos) como se muestra en la figura 1. Un sensor de oximetría de pulso típico mide dos parámetros fisiológicos: saturación porcentual de oxígeno de hemoglobina en sangre arterial (SpO2 o sat) y frecuencia del pulso. La saturación de oxígeno puede estimarse utilizando diversas técnicas. En una técnica común, la fotocorriente generada por el fotodetector está condicionada y procesada para determinar la proporción de proporciones de modulación (proporción de proporciones) de las señales rojas a infrarrojas. Se ha observado que esta proporción de modulación establece una buena correlación con la saturación de oxígeno arterial. Los sensor de oximetrías de pulso y los sensores se calibran empíricamente midiendo la proporción de modulación sobre un rango de saturaciones de oxígeno arterial medidas in vivo (SpO2) en un grupo de pacientes, voluntarios sanos o animales. La correlación observada se utiliza de manera inversa para calcular la saturación de oxígeno en la sangre (SpO2) basada en el valor medido de las proporciones de modulación de un paciente. El cálculo de la saturación de oxígeno utilizando proporciones de modulación se describe en la patente estadounidense nº 5,853,364, titulada “METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ESTIMATING PHYSIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS USING MODEL-BASED ADAPTIVE FALTERING” emitida el 29 de diciembre de 1998, la patente estadounidense nº 4,911,167, titulada “METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING OPTICAL PULSES”, emitida el 27 de marzo de 1990 y la relación entre saturación de oxígeno y proporción de modulación se describe además en la patente nº 5,645,059, titulada “MEDICAL SENSOR WITH MODULATED ENCODING SCHEME”, emitida el 8 de julio de 1997, cuyas divulgaciones se incorporan a la presente mediante referencia en su totalidad. La mayoría de los sensor de oximetrías extraen la señal pletismográfica habiendo determinado primero la saturación o frecuencia del pulso. Un sensor de oximetría ejemplar de frente se describe en la solicitud de patente estadounidense en tramitación nº 10/256,245, titulada: "Stacked Adhesive Optical Sensor," cuya divulgación se incorpora a la presente mediante referencia en su totalidad a todos los efectos.
La fuerza aplicada al sensor de oximetría puede ser un factor en el funcionamiento adecuado del sensor. En determinados escenarios clínicos, se requiere el uso de una cinta para la cabeza 200 en combinación con un sensor frontal 101 (por ejemplo, un sensor de oximetría), como se muestra en la figura 2. La figura 2 muestra los cables del sensor extendiéndose desde el sensor (no mostrado) hacia fuera desde debajo de la cinta para la cabeza. Dichos escenarios clínicos incluyen escenarios en los que: el paciente está tumbado con la cabeza cerca o bajo el nivel del pecho; el paciente está sometido a una elevada presión venosa; el paciente es diaforético; el paciente se mueve excesivamente, como durante el ejercicio; así como otros escenarios en los que las pulsaciones venosas pueden provocar errores en los cálculos oximétricos. En estos escenarios, sin cinta para la cabeza, o fuerza sobre el sensor de oximetría, las pulsaciones venosas podrían provocar una incorrecta interpretación de la forma de la onda, y por lo tanto, resultar en una determinación menos precisa de los valores de saturación de oxígeno y frecuencia del pulso. La cinta para la cabeza puede utilizarse para aplicar presión al sensor de oximetría, reduciendo de este modo los efectos de las pulsaciones venosas. Cuando se utiliza como soporte de un sensor de oximetría, la cantidad de fuerza aplicada por el sensor en la frente debe ser mayor que la presión venosa, pero menor que la presión arterial. Generalmente, un buen rango de presión es aquel en el que la presión aplicada es mayor que la presión venosa (ej. 3-5 mm Hg) y menor que la presión capilar (ej. 22 mm Hg). Preferiblemente, debe situarse entre 15 mm Hg y 20 mm Hg en el paciente adulto. La cinta para la cabeza de acuerdo con las realizaciones de la presente invención puede ajustarse para ser utilizada por usuarios de cualquier tamaño, empleando un mecanismo de cierre ajustable, como por ejemplo, un mecanismo de cierre de velcro El usuario puede aplicar un amplio rango de presiones al sensor de oximetría frontal dependiendo de la cantidad de tensión que ha sido aplicada a la cinta para la cabeza durante su colocación alrededor de la cabeza del usuario.
Las realizaciones de la presente invención pretenden reducir las conjeturas de los cuidadores ofreciéndoles un indicador visual de la cantidad adecuada de tensión requerida en la cinta para la cabeza durante la colocación alrededor de la cabeza. La tensión requerida está relacionada con la presión aplicada por el sensor cuando está unido al paciente.
En una realización, mostrada en la figura 3, se muestra una cinta para la cabeza elástica 102 en una posición no estirada. Un tejido no elástico 104 se muestra unido a la parte elástica 102 a lo largo de dos de sus bordes 106. Los otros dos bordes de la parte no elástica no están unidos al segmento elástico y por lo tanto, están libres para proyectarse hacia fuera, alejándose de la cara del segmento elástico. El segmento no elástico es menor que el segmento elástico. El segmento no elástico está adaptado para extenderse sobre una parte del segmento elástico cuando el segmento elástico está estirado. El segmento no elástico es mayor que la parte del segmento elástico sobre la que se extiende cuando el segmento elástico no está estirado. A medida que el segmento elástico 102 es estirado desde su posición no estirada, se tira de los bordes 106 de la parte no elástica junto con el segmento elástico de estiramiento 102 hasta que la parte elástica entre los bordes se ha estirado a una longitud equivalente a la longitud de la parte no elástica. La cinta para la cabeza también incluye mecanismos de cierre (no mostrados) que se describen a continuación en combinación con la figura 4. La figura 5 muestra un diagrama de vista frontal de una realización de la cinta para la cabeza de acuerdo con la presente invención, mostrada siendo llevada por un usuario. Se percibe que la cinta para la cabeza puede utilizarse para mantener y ejercer una presión contra un sensor, como un sensor de oximetría aplicado a la frente del paciente, como se muestra en la figura 2. Para una mayor claridad al describir el indicador de tensión, dicho sensor no se muestra en las figuras 5-7. La figura 6 es un diagrama de vista superior de una realización de la cinta para la cabeza 102 de acuerdo con la presente invención, mostrada siendo llevada por un usuario. Como se muestra en la figura, cuando la cinta para la cabeza está ajustada adecuadamente, la parte del indicador de presión 104 se ajusta fuertemente en la parte elástica 102, no proporcionando de este modo una indicación visual de que la cinta para la cabeza debe reajustarse. Por otra parte, la figura 7 muestra un diagrama de vista superior de una realización de la cinta para la cabeza de acuerdo con la presente invención, mostrada en una tensión menor que la adecuada al ser llevada por un usuario. Como se muestra en la figura 7, cuando la cinta para la cabeza aplica una presión menor que la adecuada a la frente del usuario, o cuando una cinta para la cabeza no está suficientemente ajustada, el indicador 104 se proyecta hacia fuera de la superficie creando un bucle que proporciona una indicación visual de que debe reajustarse la cinta para la cabeza.
Cuando la cinta para la cabeza no está estirada, existe una holgura entre las partes no elástica y elástica. Cuando la cinta para la cabeza se estira, la holgura en la tira no elástica se elimina, ofreciendo la indicación visual de que el estiramiento de la cinta para la cabeza es suficiente. La cinta para la cabeza se elige de modo que sea lo suficientemente larga para ajustarse a la cabeza del usuario (o paciente). El material elástico puede estar hecho de cualquier tejido adecuado, como espuma de uretano de celda abierta. La tira no elástica, que es más corta que la parte elástica, está cosida o unida de otro modo (por ejemplo, mediante adhesivo, etc.) a la cinta para la cabeza elástica en un espacio que es menor que las longitudes de la parte no elástica. El material no elástico puede estar hecho de cualquier tejido adecuado, como tejido tipo Dacron.
La figura 4 es un diagrama de una realización alternativa de la cinta para la cabeza de acuerdo con la presente invención. Se muestra una cinta para la cabeza elástica en una posición no estirada. Un tejido no elástico 104 se muestra unido a la parte elástica 102 a lo largo de dos de sus bordes 106. Los otros dos bordes de la parte no elástica no están unidos al segmento elástico y por lo tanto, están libres para proyectarse hacia fuera, alejándose de la cara del segmento elástico. El segmento no elástico 104 es menor que el segmento elástico 102. El segmento no elástico está adaptado para extenderse sobre una parte del segmento elástico cuando el segmento elástico es estirado. El segmento no elástico es mayor que la parte del segmento elástico sobre la que se extiende cuando el segmento elástico no está estirado. Un segmento elástico 102 es estirado desde su posición no estirada, se tira desde los bordes 106 de la parte no elástica junto con el segmento elástico de estiramiento 102 hasta que la parte elástica entre los bordes se ha estirado a una longitud equivalente a la longitud de la parte no elástica.
La figura 4 también muestra la parte no elástica para incluir un pliegue o doblez permanente
110. Como se muestra en la figura 4A, dicho doblez 110 puede hacerse sobreponiendo la parte no elástica para formar un doblez y a continuación prensar o sellar térmicamente para formar un doblez o pliegue permanente. En una realización, el pliegue o doblez se realiza en medio del segmento no elástico, que hace que se proyecte hacia fuera de forma afilada y angular a medida que la banda elástica 102 se retrae o se relaja. En funcionamiento, se ha demostrado que el pliegue o doblez con forma afilada y angular actúa como un amplificador mecánico y proporciona un indicador visual más nítido y una mejor sensibilidad cuando se ha superado el umbral de la tensión mínima de la cinta para la cabeza. El indicador de tensión del pliegue 110 muestra una mayor sensibilidad a una pérdida de tensión en la cinta para la cabeza proyectándose fuera de la cinta elástica de forma torcida. El indicador de tensión del pliegue 110 proporciona un indicador visual más pronunciado tanto desde la perspectiva de mirar directamente a la frente como desde mirar a la parte superior (borde) de la cinta para la cabeza. El material elegido para la parte no elástica que tiene un pliegue o doblez puede ser similar al material no elástico no plegado o no doblado. Asimismo, puede utilizarse un material como el material de malla de poliéster, que es capaz de mantener un doblez o un pliegue. El material elástico puede estar hecho de un material como se describe anteriormente, o estar hecho con otro material adecuado como cinta de rizo.
Cuando la cinta para la cabeza no está estirada, existe una holgura entre las partes no elástica y elástica. Cuando la cinta para la cabeza se estira, la holgura en la tira no elástica se elimina, ofreciendo la indicación visual de que el estiramiento de la cinta para la cabeza es suficiente.
También se muestra en la figura 4, y aplicable a la realización descrita en combinación con la figura 3, el dispositivo de cierre 108. Dicho dispositivo de cierre es un cierre de tipo velcro. La cinta para la cabeza de acuerdo con las realizaciones de la presente invención puede utilizar otros mecanismos de cierre como pestillos, botones, adhesivos, pasadores o combinaciones de los mismos, así como otros conocidos por los expertos en la técnica relevante. Alternativamente, la cinta para la cabeza puede ser un bucle preformado sin un mecanismo de cierre separado.
La cinta para la cabeza descrita anteriormente incluye un indicador de presión de unión del sensor. Como se ha descrito anteriormente, la cinta para la cabeza puede utilizarse para permitir elegir una presión de unión del sensor con la ubicación del tejido del paciente (por ejemplo, frente, etcétera) que sea mayor que las pulsaciones venosas (ej. 5-10 mm Hg) pero menor que la cantidad máxima (ej. 30 mm Hg, aproximadamente). Como se ha descrito anteriormente, dicho indicador de presión está unido a la cinta para la cabeza. Alternativamente, el indicador de presión puede estar unido al sensor, como un sensor de oximetría. Una realización del indicador de presión es un indicador de tensión como se ha descrito anteriormente con referencia a las figuras 3-4. Otros medios de indicación de la presión incluyen los sensores de presión o fuerza lo suficientemente pequeños y ligeros para ser incluidos en el montaje del sensor o de la cinta para la cabeza. La información proporcionada por el indicador de presión puede utilizarse para ayudar a establecer un visor de presión aceptable para la unión del sensor con el paciente. El visor de
5 presión aceptable también puede mejorarse para incluir los efectos de la elevación de la cabeza del paciente en relación con el corazón del paciente.
Adicionalmente, el concepto de utilizar una cinta para la cabeza para garantizar una presión de unión de sensor aceptable se extiende a otras partes del cuerpo del paciente; lugares donde la 10 presión de unión del sensor puede ayudar a proporcionar una lectura más precisa del sensor.
Una realización alternativa de la cinta para la cabeza indicadora de la tensión o presión de acuerdo con la presente invención se muestra en la figura 8. Como se muestra en la figura 8, la cinta para la cabeza incluye una parte no elástica 604 y una parte elástica 602. La parte que 15 indica la tensión 606 también está hecha de material no elástico. La parte que indica la tensión 606 puede ser un pliegue o doblez según se describe en combinación con la figura 4 o como se muestra sin pliegue ni doblez según se describe en combinación con la figura 3. Esta realización teniendo una parte elástica más corta, limita la extensión de la cinta para la cabeza y por lo tanto, limita el rango de presiones que pueden ser aplicadas por la cinta para la cabeza contra la frente del usuario o el sensor aplicado a la frente

- Uso de una cinta para la cabeza para indicar tensión, comprendiendo la cinta para la cabeza: un segmento no elástico (604, 606) dimensionado para ajustarse alrededor de la cabeza de un usuario; y un segmento elástico (602) siendo menor que, y estando unido a, dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606), dicho segmento elástico (602) está dimensionado para extenderse sobre una parte de dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606) cuando dicho segmento elástico está estirado, dicho segmento elástico (602) es menor que dicha parte de dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606) sobre la que se extiende cuando dicho segmento elástico (602) no está estirado, en el que dicho segmento elástico (602) está unido con dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606) de tal modo que dicho segmento no elástico (606) se proyecta hacia fuera de la superficie adyacente a la frente del usuario cuando dicha cinta para la cabeza no está suficientemente apretada, creando así un bucle que proporciona una indicación visual de que la cinta para la cabeza debe reapretarse.

- El uso de la reivindicación 8 en el que dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606) es de forma rectangular con una dimensión larga y corta, y dicho segmento elástico (602) está unido a lo largo de un grupo de sus bordes con dicho segmento no elástico (604, 606), en el que dicho grupo de bordes es generalmente paralelo a dicha dimensión corta.

- Un sistema que comprende un sensor de oximetría y una cinta para la cabeza para mantener el sensor de oximetría en la frente del paciente en el que: la cinta para la cabeza comprende un segmento elástico (102) adaptado para ajustarse a la cabeza del usuario y un segmento no elástico (104) que es más dimensionado que, y está
510 unido a, dicho segmento elástico (102), dicho segmento no elástico (104) dimensionado para extenderse sobre una parte de dicho segmento elástico cuando dicho segmento elástico (102) está estirado, siendo dicho segmento no elástico (104) mayor que dicha parte de dicho segmento elástico (102) sobre la que se extiende cuando dicho segmento elástico (102) no está estirado, en el que el segmento no elástico (104) proporciona una indicación visual de la15 tensión de la cinta para la cabeza, y el segmento elástico (102) está dimensionado para ajustarse alrededor de la cabeza del paciente y sobre un sensor de oximetría ubicado en la frente del paciente. - 15.
