Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態に係る磁気記録媒体の概略構成を示す断面図である。この磁気記録媒体は、垂直磁気記録再生方式に用いられる磁気記録媒体である。
本発明に係る磁気記録媒体において、交換結合層24は、六方最密充填構造を持つ金属を含み、この金属の結晶格子におけるc軸とa軸との比c/aの変化量が|0.2|%以上|0.8|%以下であることが好ましい。
(実施例)
アモルファスのアルミノシリケートガラスをダイレクトプレスで円盤状に成型してガラスディスクを作製し、このガラスディスクに研削、研磨、化学強化を順次施すことによりガラス基板を作製した。このガラス基板上に、厚さ60nmの軟磁性層(CoTaZrFe/Ru/CoTaZrFe)、厚さ10nmのNiW膜、厚さ20nmのRu膜、厚さ13nmのCoCrPt-SiO2膜、厚さ7nmの交換結合層(CoCrPt)を、Ar雰囲気中でDCマグネトロンスパッタリング法により順次成膜した。次いで、交換結合層に対して、ドーズ量4×1013(イオン/cm2)でAr+イオンを照射した。次いで、交換結合層上にCVD法により厚さ5nmのカーボン層を形成し、その上にディップ法により厚さ1.3nmの潤滑層を形成して実施例の磁気記録媒体を作製した。
交換結合層の膜厚を10.5nmとし、交換結合層にイオン照射を行わないこと以外は実施例と同様にして比較例の磁気記録媒体を作製した。得られた磁気記録媒体について実施例と同様にして電磁変換特性評価を行った。その結果を図7に併記する。

Claims (5)
- 非磁性基板上に、柱状の磁性粒子間に非磁性の粒界部を有するグラニュラ構造の磁気記録層と、前記磁気記録層上に設けられ、前記磁性粒子同士を交換結合させる作用を付与するための交換結合層とを具備する磁気記録媒体を製造する磁気記録媒体の製造方法であって、前記磁気記録層上に交換結合層を積層した後、前記交換結合層の全面に対してイオン照射を行うイオン照射工程を有することを特徴とする磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 非磁性基板上に、柱状の磁性粒子間に非磁性の粒界部を有するグラニュラ構造の磁気記録層と、前記磁気記録層上に設けられ、前記磁性粒子同士を交換結合させる作用を付与するための交換結合層とを具備する磁気記録媒体を製造する磁気記録媒体の製造方法であって、前記交換結合層に含まれる六方最密充填構造を持つ金属の結晶格子におけるc軸とa軸との比c/aの変化量が|0.2|%以上になるように、前記交換結合層の全面に対して、イオン照射を行うイオン照射工程を有することを特徴とする磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記交換結合層がPt及びCoを含む膜であり、前記金属がCoであることを特徴とする請求項2記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記交換結合層の厚さが7nm以下であり、前記イオン照射におけるドーズ量が1×1013〜1×1015(イオン/cm2)の範囲内であること特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記イオン照射工程は、磁気記録層上に交換結合層を積層し、さらにその上に保護層を形成した後、当該保護層の上からイオンを照射することを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
