Claims (4)
- コバルト(Co)を含有し柱状に成長した結晶粒子の間に非磁性物質からなる粒界部を形成したグラニュラー構造の磁気記録層と、該磁気記録層上に隣接し面方向に磁気的に連続した薄膜からなる連続層とを備える垂直磁気記録媒体において、
前記連続層はコバルト、クロム(Cr)、プラチナ(Pt)を含有し、
前記連続層は非磁性層を含まず、
前記連続層では、前記磁気記録層に近付くほどクロム含量が大きくなり、
前記連続層は下層と上層の2層から成り、該下層のクロム含量は18〜20at%であり、該上層のクロム含量は15〜18at%であって、前記上層は前記下層よりクロム含量が少なく、前記上層は前記下層より飽和磁化が高く、
前記下層の膜厚は0より大きく実質的に3nmまでであることを特徴とする垂直磁気記録媒体。 - 前記非磁性物質は、酸化クロム、クロム、酸化チタン、酸化珪素、酸化ジルコンおよび酸化タンタルから成る群から選択される1または複数の物質であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記上層の膜厚は実質的に3〜7nmであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の垂直磁気記録媒体。
- 前記連続層は、さらにボロン(B)を含むコバルト・クロム・プラチナ・ボロン(CoCrPtB)の組成を有することを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の垂直磁気記録媒体。
