Description
[技術分野]
進歩性のある改善は、一般的に、記録可能なデジタル映像ディスク、ハードドライブ、光磁気ディスク等のディスク媒体に記録された音声のみ、映像のみ、及び映像及び音声の双方のプログラムに対する画期的な動作特性を提供する方法及び装置に関する。
種々のデバイスが開発されて、ユーザが映像及び/又は音声プログラムを記録できるようになってきている。かかるデバイスは、テープレコーダ、ビデオカセットレコーダ、記録可能なコンパクトディスク、及び、最近では記録可能なデジタルビデオディスク(DVD)を含む。ハードドライブ及び光磁気ディスクも使用されている。
本発明は、ナビゲーション・パックをそれぞれ包含する複数のビデオ・オブジェクト・ユニット(VOBU)を有するDVDにおいて改善型トリックモード性能を提供する方法に関する。本方法は、上記ディスク媒体の各上記ナビゲーション・パックに付加ディスク探索情報(SDSI)を記憶することを含む。SDSIは、上記VOBUのピクチャ構造;通常再生モードにおいて各ピクチャから表示されるフィールド数;上記VOBU内に含まれるピクチャのグループ(GOP)の数;のうちの一若しくはそれ以上を含むことができる。
[記録可能なDVDデバイス]
図1のブロック図には、本発明による書き換え可能なディスク媒体102を用いる、ここで教授される本発明による種々の改良された動作機能を実現するデバイス100が示される。書き換え可能なディスク媒体102は、書き換え可能なDVDとして具現化されている。多くの例では、後述するように、書き換え可能なディスク媒体は、例えばハードドライブ若しくは光磁気ディスク(MOD)であることができる。MODの一例は、ミニディスクである。多くの例では、本発明は、映像若しくは音声又は映像及び音声の双方に適用可能である。
本発明を説明するために、プログラム題材が、書き換え可能なDVDに記録され、書き換え可能なDVDから再生される。図2に示す書き換え可能なDVD10は、デバイス100においてディスク102として好適である。ディスク10は、平らで円形な合成樹脂製のプレート状の部材12によって形成される。書き換え可能なDVDは、厚さ1.2mmのディスクを形成する接着層により結合された2つの基板より形成されることができる。中心孔14は、ディスクの中心に形成されており、図1のモータ106のグリップ装置がディスクを確実にグリップし、本発明により角度方向のディスクの運動を制御する。
図3に示すように、各DVDは、ビデオ・マネジャー26とビデオ・タイトル・セット(VTS)28とを含む。VTSは、ビデオ・タイトル・セット・インフォーメーション(VTSI)27と、メニュー用の任意的なビデオ・オブジェクト・セット29と、実際のタイトルコンテンツを含む1若しくはそれ以上のタイトル用VOBS30とを含む。また、各VOBS30は、複数のビデオ・オブジェクト32を含む。各ビデオ・オブジェクト32は、複数のセル34を含む。各VOBSは、セルへのポインターの集合からなる。このようにして、VOBSデータは、セルを相互にリンクし、どの命令でプログラム若しくはセルが再生されるべきかを指示する。特定のVOBS内のセルは、所望の順番で再生されるようにフラグのセットが可能である。例えば、それらは、連続的若しくはランダムに再生できる。
既存のNV_PCKを本発明によるトリックモードのためにより有用とするため、追加的な情報がその中に含められる。特に、かかる追加データは、VOBU内に含まれるGOPsの数;各GOPに対するピクチャー構造;通常の再生モードで各ピクチャ(1,2、若しくは3)から表示されるフィールド数を含む。本発明に関連するこのような情報は、ここでは付加ディスク探索情報(SDSI)と称される。本発明は、DVD−Rのような記録可能でないディスク媒体、DVD−RAM,DVD−RW,DVD+RWのような記録可能なディスク媒体、及びデータを記憶するための他の適切なディスク媒体と関連して用いることができる。
Claims (22)
- ナビゲーション・パックをそれぞれ包含する複数のビデオ・オブジェクト・ユニット(VOBU)を有する映像コンテンツを記憶するディスク媒体を再生する方法であって、
グループオブピクチャ(GOP)のピクチャ構造、トリックモードにないときに前記GOPから表示されるフィールド数、及び上記VOBU内に含まれる上記GOPの数を特定する付加ディスク探索情報(SDSI)を、上記ディスク媒体の各上記ナビゲーション・パックに記憶するステップと、

- 上記SDSIに従って、GOP内のピクチャーの中から、ユーザの選択したトリックモードに応じて表示されるべき選択ピクチャを決定することを更に含む、

- 上記SDSIに従って、選択されたトリックモードに対して表示できるGOP内の選択ピクチャー数を決定することを更に含む、

- 上記選択されたトリックモードが上記GOP内のIピクチャ及びPピクチャのみを表示するために十分に高速である場合、上記GOP内のIピクチャ及びPピクチャのみを表示することを更に含む、
請求項5記載の方法。
- 上記選択されたトリックモードが上記GOP内のすべてのIピクチャ及びPピクチャを表示できないほど高速である場合、上記VOBUの端数部分又は上記VOBUに含まれるIピクチャ及びPピクチャの全体の最初の半数のみを表示することを更に含む、
請求項5記載の方法。
- トリックモードで表示されるべき上記GOP内の上記選択ピクチャは、該GOPを含む上記VOBUのデコード及び表示の開始前に、決定される、
請求項5記載の方法。
- 上記SDSIに従って、各ピクチャのサイズを算出することを更に含む、
請求項2記載の方法。
- 上記SDSIに従って、選択されたトリックモードに応じて、ピクチャ飛び越しシーケンス、及び、バッファに記憶されるピクチャの数のうちの少なくとも一方を最適化すべく、ディスク媒体デバイスのデータバッファを管理することを更に含む、
請求項9記載の方法。
- 上記サイズ情報に従って、表示されるべきGOP内のピクチャのセット、マルチプルデコードのためにメモリ内に保持されるピクチャ、及び、上記ピクチャの所望の1つを記憶するの必要なメモリ容量、のうちの少なくとも1つを決定することを更に含む、
請求項9記載の方法。
- 改善されたトリックモード性能を提供するため、ディスク媒体を再生する再生装置であって、
ナビゲーション・パックをそれぞれ包含する複数のビデオ・オブジェクト・ユニット(VOBU)を有したディスク媒体に映像データを記憶する手段と、
グループオブピクチャ(GOP)のピクチャ構造、トリックモードにないときに前記GOPから表示されるフィールド数、及び上記VOBU内に含まれる上記GOPの数を特定する付加ディスク探索情報(SDSI)を、上記ディスク媒体の各上記ナビゲーション・パックに記憶する手段と、
改善されたトリックモード性能が提供されるように、上記ディスク媒体に記憶されているSDSIに従って、上記ディスク媒体に記憶されている上記VOBUについてトリックモード再生を行う手段と、
を含む再生装置。
- 上記ピクチャー構造が、上記VOBU内に含まれる各GOPのフォーマット、上記VOBUの各GOPにおけるピクチャタイプのシーケンス、上記VOBUにおけるGOPの各ピクチャに対する開始アドレス、上記VOBUにおけるGOPの各ピクチャに対する終了アドレスを含む、

- 上記SDSIに従って、ユーザの選択したトリックモードに応じて表示されるべき選択ピクチャを、GOP内のピクチャーの中から決定する手段を更に含む、

- 各VOBU内のピクチャー数を判断する手段を更に含む、
請求項12記載の再生装置。
- 上記SDSIに従って、選択されたトリックモードに対して表示できるGOP内の選択ピクチャー数を決定する手段を更に含む、

- 上記選択されたトリックモードが上記GOP内のIピクチャ及びPピクチャのみを表示するために十分に高速である場合、上記GOP内のIピクチャ及びPピクチャのみを表示する手段を更に含む、
請求項16記載の再生装置。
- 上記選択されたトリックモードが上記GOP内のすべてのIピクチャ及びPピクチャを表示できないほど高速である場合、上記VOBUの端数部分又は上記VOBUに含まれるIピクチャ及びPピクチャの全体の最初の半数のみを表示する手段を更に含む、

- 上記処理手段は、上記サイズ情報に従って、表示されるべきGOP内のピクチャのセット、マルチプルデコードのためにメモリ内に保持されるピクチャ、及び、上記ピクチャの所望の1つを記憶するの必要なメモリ容量、のうちの少なくとも1つを決定する、
