Description
多層構造の別の実施形態では、スキン層は、ポリヒドロキシブチレート-バレレート、ポリカプロラクトン、ポリブチレン-アジペート-co-テレフタレート、ポリブチレン-サクシネート、ポリブチレン-サクシネート-アジペート、又はそれらの混合物などの他の生分解性ポリマーを含有してもよい。

[式中、R1はH又はメチルであり、R8は1~22個の炭素を有するアルキル、又は2~20個の炭素及び酸素若しくは硫黄から選択される1~6個のヘテロ原子を有するヘテロアルキルである。]を有し得る。アルキル基又はヘテロアルキル基は、直鎖、分枝、環状、又はこれらの組み合わせであり得る。
フィルムは、「x」方向とも称される流れ方向(MD)に沿ってキャストされ、巻き取られた。フィルムは、MDに沿って流れ方向延伸倍率(MDDR)まで伸張され、かつ/又は「y」方向とも称される横方向(TD)に沿って横方向延伸倍率(TDDR)まで伸張される。厚さ方向は「z」方向とも称される。これらの方向は、伸張の、及び伸張された部分の中央からとったサンプルの特性(屈折率など)のためのおよその主方向である。したがって、これらの方向はサンプルのデカルト座標系も定義する。
材料及びフィルムのガラス転移温度は示差走査熱量計(DSC)を用いて測定された。材料を秤量し、TA InstrumentsのアルミニウムDSCサンプルパンに載せることにより、試料を分析のために準備した。試料は、標準モード(10℃/分で-90~180℃)で加熱-冷却-加熱法を用いて、TA Instruments Q2000(SN#130)示差走査熱量計(TA Instruments,New Castle,DE,USA)を用いて分析した。上限温度範囲は、予め形成された結晶構造を溶解するように選択される。データ収集後、Universal Analysis Software Packageを使用して熱転移を評価した。観察した全てのガラス転移(Tg)、吸熱ピーク又は発熱ピークを評価した。ガラス転移温度は、標準熱流量(HF)曲線における階段状変化を用いて評価した。転移の開始温度、中間温度(半値)、及び終了温度、並びにガラス転移で観察された熱容量の変化を記録した。1つの値しか言及されていない場合、これはガラス転移の中間点(半値)の値である。キャストされ配向されたフィルムの場合、第1の加熱サイクルの中間点(半値)値が報告された。PLA及びPVAcポリマーの場合、第2の加熱サイクルの中間点(半値)値が報告された。一般に、第1の加熱サイクルを使用して、フィルム及びフィルムを製造したプロセスの影響を受けたその特性を分析する一方、第2の加熱サイクルを使用して、樹脂及び樹脂混合物の特性を分析し、既存のフィルムからこれらの特性を識別した。どのピーク遷移も評価し、ピーク面積値及び/又はピークの最低温度/最高温度を測定した。ピーク積分結果をサンプル重量に対して正規化し、J/gで報告した。フィルムの初期結晶化度は、これらのピーク積分を理論的融解熱、即ち93.1J/gでスケーリングすることによって評価した(Polylactic Acid Technology,D.E.Henton et al,2005,pps.527~578参照)。
比較例1Aについては、ポリ乳酸(PLA)樹脂は、樹脂ペレットを押出成形機のスロートに供給することによって、Berstorff 25mm二軸押出成形機(KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH,Hannover,Germany)を用いて押出成形した。ペレットを押出成形前に70℃で8時間を超えて乾燥させ、更に真空を押出成形機に印加した。温度は押出成形機バレルに沿って202℃の最終ゾーン温度まで単調に増加した。溶融物は、また202℃に設定されたメルトトレイン及びダイを通って搬送され、最終的に、27℃まで冷却されたクロムめっきキャスティングホイール上に静電ピンニングによってキャストされた。キャストフィルムは、約250ミクロンの最終的な厚さを有し、比較的低いヘイズ及び高い透明度を有していた。1000Hzでの誘電正接が0.0034であると分かった。
97重量%のポリ乳酸(PLA)樹脂及び3重量%のポリビニルアセテート(Wacker Chemie AG,Muenchen,Germanyから入手可能なVinnapas(商標)B5)のブレンドを、Berstorff 25mm二軸押出成形機(KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH,Hannover,Germany)を用いて、樹脂ペレットを90℃に冷却した押出成形機のスロートに供給することによって押出成形した。温度は押出成形機バレルに沿って202℃の最終ゾーン温度まで単調に増加した。溶融物は、また202℃に設定されたメルトトレイン及びダイを通って搬送され、最終的に、27℃まで冷却されたクロムめっきキャスティングホイール上に静電ピンニングによってキャストされた。キャストされた厚さは約600ミクロンであった。
比較例3Aについては、90重量%のポリ乳酸(PLA)樹脂及び10重量%の可塑剤のブレンドをBerstorff 25mm二軸押出成形機(KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH,Hannover,Germany)を用いて押出成形した。乾燥したPLAペレットを、重量式フィーダを用いて一定の質量流速で押出成形機のスロートに供給した。可塑剤は、流量計(例えばITW Dynatec,Hendersonville,TN,USAから入手可能なDynamelt-TM Sシリーズの接着剤供給ユニット)を備えた加熱ポンプを使用して押出成形機のバレル混合ゾーンに注入した。温度は押出成形機バレルに沿って202℃の最終ゾーン温度まで単調に増加した。溶融物は、また202℃に設定されたメルトトレイン及びダイを通って搬送され、最終的に、27℃まで冷却されたクロムめっきキャスティングホイール上に静電ピンニングによってキャストされた。フィルムは、約250ミクロンの最終的な厚さになるようにキャストされた。屈折率は、633nmにおいて1.4597の値で等方性であった。1000Hzでの誘電正接が、比較例1のキャストフィルムと同様に、0.0031であると分かった。誘電正接の周波数応答を図1に示す。
フィルムの第1の組は、押出成形キャスティングによって調製された。これらは最終的な配向されたフィルムの前駆体であるため、「キャストフィルム」と称する。組成及びキャストフィルムの性質を表1に要約する。
キャストフィルム前駆体実施例1~5を伸張して、KARO IV(商標)バッチ式伸張機(Bruckner Maschinenbau GmbH & Co.KG,Siegsdorf.Germanyより入手可能)を用いてそれぞれ二軸配向されたフィルム実施例7~12を調製した。最適化した条件を見つけるために、異なるピーク延伸倍率レベル及び異なるひずみ緩和段階の種々の延伸プロファイルを用いた。全ての場合について、フィルムは、第1の段階においてピーク名目上の延伸倍率まで伸張された。ほとんどの場合、その後、初期ひずみ緩和を実行し、ヒートセット中に名目上の延伸倍率を有効値まで減少させた。第3に、場合によっては、最終ひずみ緩和を実行し、急冷時に名目上の延伸倍率を再び最終名目上の延伸倍率まで(「第2のトーイン」として示される量だけ)再び減少させた。
キャストウェブ前駆体実施例1及び4を伸張して、KARO IV(商標)バッチ式伸張機を用いてそれぞれ一軸配向されたフィルム実施例11及び12を調製した。このデバイスの、名目上一方向にのみ延伸されたフィルムは、フィルムがその縁部に沿って物理的把持部によって部分的にしか支持されないため、直交方向内側に引き寄せられる傾向がある。例えば、フィルムが名目上TDでのみ延伸される場合、MDDRは1未満に減少する。従来のテンターで予想される一軸伸張をシミュレーションするために、フィルムを両方向で同時に名目上延伸することにより、最終的に測定されたMDDRにおける延伸倍率は伸張後、実際には1で維持された。したがって、フィルムは、キャストロールのMD方向がKARO IVのMD方向と同じになるように、パンタグラフ把持機構に挿入した。フィルムを伸張温度76℃で120秒間予熱し、MD及びTDにおいて同時に、TDでは名目上の初期速度100%/sで、MDでは同等の速度で、同時にそれらのピーク名目上の延伸倍率に達するように延伸した。次に、フィルムを、低減された最終TDDRを得るように10%/sのTD名目上の速度で種々の異なる延伸後ひずみ緩和スキーム下で155℃で20秒間ヒートセットして、その後、30秒間拘束したまま室温まで急冷した。これらの実施例の得られたフィルムは約50ミクロンの厚さであった。したがって、実施例6~10と同様に、これらのフィルムに対してほぼ最適化された処理延伸条件が見出された。表3は、各実施例フィルムの2つの処理ケースを示す。
実施例5と同様のキャストウェブ前駆体を、同様に最も高い分子量のPVAcを用いて調製したが、79重量%のPLAとともに13重量%のPVAc及び8重量%の可塑剤のみを使用した。キャストフィルムを伸張して、KARO IV(商標)バッチ式伸張機を用いて二軸配向された実施例フィルム13を調製した。前述の実施例フィルム6~10と同様に、延伸条件をほぼ最適化するために種々の条件を検討した。実施例6~10からケース(b)を用いた最良の処理条件により、0.028の有効全複屈折(ETB)(全複屈折0.022に相当)、0.75%のヘイズ(1ミクロン当たり0.047%)、及び1.9%の平均収縮率がもたらされた。
実施例4と同様のキャストウェブ前駆体を調製したが、73重量%のPLA及び1%のPLAスリップマスターバッチ、具体的にはSUKANO(商標)DC S511(Sukano Polymers Corporation Duncan,SCから入手可能)と共に18重量%のPVAc及び8重量%の可塑剤を使用した。
実施例14のキャストウェブを長さ方向配向機内に搬送し、50℃を超える初期温度まで予熱し、1.15倍に延伸した。次いで、このフィルムを従来のテンターに搬送し、約57℃まで予熱し、ピーク名目上の延伸倍率5.4まで横方向に延伸した。フィルムは、名目上のひずみが0.3低下して最終延伸倍率5.1となり、155℃でヒートセットされ、フィルムロールへと巻き取られた。
キャストウェブは、実施例1及び4のものと同様に調製したが、ポリ乳酸、ポリビニルアセテート及び可塑剤については同じ相対的重量パーセンテージを用いて、Hallgreen-TM R8010の代わりに代替の可塑剤であるジブチルフタレートを同様の割合で代わりに用いた。これらのキャストウェブを実施例6及び9と同様の手順で伸張して、それぞれ実施例フィルム16及び17を調製した。フィルムは、キャストロールのMD方向がKARO IV(商標)のMD方向と同じになるように、パンタグラフ型把持機構に挿入した。フィルムを伸張温度60℃で120秒間予熱し、MD及びTDにおいて同時に名目上の初期速度100%/sでMD及びTDの両方に対して3のピーク延伸倍率まで延伸した。次に、フィルムを、ひずみ緩和はせずに155℃で20秒間ヒートセットした。サンプルをその後、30秒間拘束したまま室温まで急冷した。120℃で5分後の二軸収縮率測定を、前述の実施例及び方法に従って行った。3つのサンプルのMD及びTDの平均収縮率は、実施例16及び17それぞれについて、標準偏差0.36%及び0.13%で3.2%及び2.8%であると分かった。フィルム16及び17は、それぞれ0.015%及び0.006%の標準偏差でそれぞれ0.79%及び0.53%のヘイズを示した。したがって、より高い分子量のポリビニルアセテートを含むフィルムは、この代替の可塑剤を用いたより低い分子量のポリビニルアセテートを含むフィルムよりも低いヘイズを有すると同時に、ここでも低い収縮率を示した。
60%のPLA、25%のポリビニルアセテート及び15%のAdmex(商標)6995可塑剤(Eastman Chemical Co.,Kingsport,TNから入手可能)を含むキャストフィルムを、前述の実施例の方法と同様にキャストした。KARO-TM IVを用いて、キャストフィルムを伸張して配向されたフィルムを調製した。KARO-TM IVを用いて、キャストフィルムを伸張温度65℃で120秒間予熱し、MD及びTDにおいて同時に名目上の初期速度100%/sでMD及びTDの両方に対して4のピーク名目上の延伸倍率まで延伸した。次いで、サンプルを室温まで冷却した。各方向の真の延伸倍率は3.5として測定された。有効全複屈折は0.023(全複屈折0.017に相当する)であると分かり、厚さ方向の屈折率は589nmで1.458と推定された。全ヘイズが2.1%(0.042%/ミクロン)であることが分かった。音響測定を行い、得られた誘電正接は1000Hzで0.021であった。実施例18の誘電正接の周波数応答を図2Bに示す。
実施例14のフィルムは、接着剤剥離特性のために片面が低接着性バックサイズ(LAB)で輪転グラビアコーティングされている。LABを乾燥させた後、接着剤のフィルムへの結合を改善するために、プライマーを低接着性バックサイズとは反対側のフィルム面に輪転グラビアコーティングする。約160°Fのドライングオーブン(drying oven)の温度では、フィルムのしわが発生する可能性がある。約150°Fでの乾燥は、元々6インチ幅を測定しているフィルムでは、しわが発生せず、幅が約1/8インチ収縮した。アクリル接着剤を、ナイフコーティング法を用いて約1milの厚さでプライマーがコーティングされた面のPLAフィルムに適用する。120~130°Fで行われる接着剤の乾燥は、フィルムの寸法又は特性に目に見える変化をもたらし得ない。接着剤でコーティングされたPLAフィルムは、0.75インチ幅の接着テープロールへと剃刀で細断してもよい。
実施例15のフィルムは、接着剤剥離特性のために片面が低接着性バックサイズ(LAB)で輪転グラビアコーティングされている。LABを乾燥させた後、接着剤のフィルムへの結合を改善するために、プライマーを低接着性バックサイズとは反対側のフィルム面に輪転グラビアコーティングする。約160°Fのドライングオーブン温度では、フィルムのしわが発生する可能性がある。約150°Fでの乾燥は、元々6インチ幅を測定しているフィルムでは、しわが発生せず、幅が約1/8インチ収縮した。アクリル接着剤を、ナイフコーティング法を用いて約1milの厚さでプライマーがコーティングされた面のPLAフィルムに適用する。120~130°Fで行われる接着剤の乾燥は、フィルムの寸法又は特性に目に見える変化をもたらし得ない。接着剤でコーティングされたPLAフィルムは、0.75インチ幅の接着テープロールへと剃刀で細断してもよい。
以下の表は、実施例21~22で利用可能な成分を記述している。
実施例14のフィルムを、プライマー、低接着性バックサイズ(「LAB」)コーティング及びホットメルトアクリル接着剤を適用することによってテープロールにする。配向されたフィルムの両面に、約50ダイン/cm2のダインレベルまでの従来の方法及び装置を用いた空気コロナ処理を使用して、プライマーとLABとの結合を改善する。
実施例15のフィルムを、プライマー、低接着性バックサイズ(「LAB」)コーティング及びホットメルトアクリル接着剤を適用することによってテープロールにする。配向されたフィルムの両面に、約50ダイン/cm2のダインレベルまでの従来の方法及び装置を用いた空気コロナ処理を使用して、プライマーとLABとの結合を改善する。
Claims (12)
- ポリ乳酸ポリマー、ポリビニルアセテートポリマー及び可塑剤の総量に基づいて、
50~80重量%の範囲の量の半結晶性ポリ乳酸ポリマーと、
5~40重量%の範囲の量の示差走査熱量計で測定したときに少なくとも25℃及び50℃以下のガラス転移温度(Tg)中間点を有するポリビニルアセテートポリマーと、
1~20重量%の範囲の量の可塑剤と、
の混合物を含み、配向された、フィルム。 - 前記ポリビニルアセテートポリマーが、45℃以下のTg中間点を有する、請求項1に記載のフィルム。
- 前記ポリビニルアセテートポリマーが、50,000g/モル~1,000,000g/モルの範囲の分子量を有する、請求項1又は2に記載のフィルム。
- 前記フィルムが二軸配向又は一軸配向されている、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 1kHzでの誘電正接が少なくとも0.007であるか、又は、前記誘電正接が、20~20,000Hzの範囲の周波数に対して少なくとも0.007である、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記配向されたフィルムが、120℃で3%未満の5分間収縮率を示す、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記配向されたフィルムが、1ミクロン厚さ当たり0.1%未満のヘイズを示す、請求項1~6のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記配向されたフィルムが、589nmで1.455より大きいz方向屈折率を示すか、又は、少なくとも0.005の全複屈折を有する、請求項1~7のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記混合物が単一のTgを示し、前記単一のTg中間点が40℃~65℃の範囲である、請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記配向されたフィルムが、40℃~65℃の範囲のTg中間点及び5℃~25℃の範囲のTg中間点を示す、請求項1~9のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 前記配向されたフィルムが、10~60%の結晶化度を示す、請求項1~10のいずれか一項に記載のフィルム。
- 請求項1~11のいずれか一項に記載のフィルムと、前記フィルムの主表面に近接して配置された接着剤とを含む、物品。
