Claims (17)
- インクジェットプリンタのインクチャンバからインクを射出させる方法において、前記方法が、
射出される第1のインク滴の所望の大きさに基づいて励起波形を形成するために、所定の射出パルスのパレットから射出パルスの組合せを選択する工程、
前記インクチャンバから第1のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第1の射出パルスを印加する工程、及び
選ばれた休止期間の経過後、前記インクチャンバから第2のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第2の射出パルスを印加する工程であって、前記第1と第2のインク塊が、前記インクチャンバから射出される、1つの塊のみを含む1−塊インク滴より大きいインク滴の大きさを有する、2つの塊を含む2−塊インク滴を形成する工程、
を含み、
前記休止期間が前記チャンバの基本共鳴周波数の逆数より長くなるように選ばれ、前記休止期間が、前記第2のインク塊が吐出される時点において前記第1のインク塊が前記インクチャンバ内のインクと接したままでいるように選ばれ、該休止期間が、前記第1と第2のインク塊が前記インクジェットプリンタのオリフィスプレートを離れて基板に向かう途上で、紐帯で連結されたままになるほど十分に短く、
前記第1及び第2の射出パルスの振幅及び遅延は、前記第1及び第2のインク塊を含む前記第1のインク滴の液滴寿命が、前記1−塊インク滴の液滴寿命に等しくなるように選択され、前記液滴寿命は、前記励起波形の開始時点とその波形で形成されたインク滴が基板に当たる時点の間の間隔であり、
前記第1のインク滴の速度が前記1−塊インク滴の速度と相異なり、
前記液滴寿命がインク滴の大きさに無関係である、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記第2のインク塊を吐出させる工程が、前記第2のインク塊に、前記第1のインク塊の速度を上回る速度を与える工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記選ばれた休止期間の経過後、前記インクチャンバから第3のインク塊を吐出させる工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第3のインク塊を吐出させる工程が、前記第3のインク塊に、前記第2のインク塊の速度を上回る速度を与える工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記休止期間を15マイクロ秒と16マイクロ秒の間にあるように選択する工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第1,第2及び第3のインク塊を含むインク滴の液滴寿命が、2つのインク塊で形成されるインク滴の液滴寿命に等しくなるように選ばれた第1,第2及び第3の運動量を、それぞれ前記第1,第2及び第3のインク塊に与える工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の方法。
- インクジェットプリンタヘッドのインクチャンバからインクを射出する方法において、前記方法が、
選ばれた液滴寸法を有するインク滴を生成するために必要なインク塊の第1の数を決定する工程、
射出される前記インク滴の前記選ばれた液滴寸法に基づいて励起波形を形成するために、所定の射出パルスのパレットから射出パルスの組合せを選択する工程、
時間とともに長くなる長さを有する自由表面導液路を形成するために、前記励起波形の第1の射出パルスを印加することによりインクを吐出する工程であって、前記自由表面導液路はインクチャンバ内のインクとオリフィスから離脱していく先頭インク塊の間に延びるものである工程、及び
一組の後続インク塊を、前記先頭インク塊に向け、前記自由表面導液路に沿って進行させるために、前記励起波形の1以上の第2の射出パルスを印加する工程であって、前記一組の後続インク塊は前記第1の数より1少ない数のインク塊を有し、前記先頭インク塊及び前記後続インク塊は前記インクチャンバの最低共鳴周波数の逆数より長い休止期間によって時間的に分離され、それによって前記先頭インク塊及び前記後続インク塊が前記インクジェットプリンタのオリフィスプレートを離れて基板に向かう途上で、紐帯で連結されたままである工程、
を有してなり、
前記インク滴の速度が、前記インクチャンバから射出される、単一のインク塊で形成される他のインク滴の速度と相異なり、
前記第1及び第2の射出パルスの振幅及び遅延は、前記先頭インク塊及び前記後続インク塊を含む前記インク滴の液滴寿命が、前記単一のインク塊で形成される前記他のインク滴の液滴寿命に等しくなるように選択され、前記液滴寿命は、前記励起波形の開始時点とその波形で形成されたインク滴が基板に当たる時点の間の間隔である、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記一組の後続インク塊に前記自由表面導液路に沿って進行させる工程が、前記後続インク塊に前記先頭インク塊の速度より大きい速度で進行させる工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。
- インクジェットプリンタのインクチャンバからインクを射出させるためのソフトウエアがその上にエンコードされている機械読取可能媒体において、前記ソフトウエアが、
射出されるインク滴の所望の大きさに基づいて励起波形を形成するために、所定の射出パルスのパレットから射出パルスの組合せを選択する命令、
前記インクチャンバから第1のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第1の射出パルスを印加する命令、及び
選ばれた休止期間の経過後、前記インクチャンバから第2のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第2の射出パルスを印加する命令であって、前記第1と第2のインク塊が、前記インクチャンバから射出される、1つの塊のみを含む1−塊インク滴より大きいインク滴の大きさを有する、2つの塊を含む2−塊インク滴を形成する命令、
を含み、

ことを特徴とする機械読取可能媒体。 - 前記第2のインク塊を吐出させるための命令が、前記第2のインク塊に、前記第1のインク塊の速度を上回る速度を与えるための命令を含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の機械読取可能媒体。
- 前記ソフトウエアが、前記選ばれた休止期間の経過後、前記インクチャンバから第3のインク塊を吐出させるための命令をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の機械読取可能媒体。
- 前記第3のインク塊を吐出させるための命令が、前記第3のインク塊に、前記第2のインク塊の速度を上回る速度を与えるための命令を含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の機械読取可能媒体。
- 前記ソフトウエアが前記休止期間を15マイクロ秒と16マイクロ秒の間になるように選択するための命令をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の機械読取可能媒体。
- 前記ソフトウエアが、前記第1,第2及び第3のインク塊を含むインク滴の液滴寿命が2つのインク塊で形成されるインク滴の液滴寿命に等しくなるように選ばれた第1,第2及び第3の運動量をそれぞれ前記第1,第2及び第3のインク塊に与えるための命令をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の機械読取可能媒体。
- インクジェットプリンタヘッドのインクチャンバからインクを射出するためのソフトウエアがその上にエンコードされている機械読取可能媒体において、前記ソフトウエアが、

時間とともに長くなる長さを有する自由表面導液路を形成するために、前記励起波形の第1の射出パルスを印加することによりインクを吐出する命令であって、前記自由表面導液路はインクチャンバ内のインクとオリフィスから離脱していく先頭インク塊の間に延びるものである命令、及び
一組の後続インク塊を、前記先頭インク塊に向け、前記自由表面導液路に沿って進行させるために、前記励起波形の1以上の第2の射出パルスを印加する命令であって、前記一組の後続インク塊は前記第1の数より1少ない数のインク塊を有し、前記先頭インク塊及び前記後続インク塊は前記インクチャンバの最低共鳴周波数の逆数より長い休止期間によって時間的に分離され、それによって前記先頭インク塊及び前記後続インク塊が前記インクジェットプリンタのオリフィスプレートを離れて基板に向かう途上で、紐帯で連結されたままである命令、

前記圧電アクチュエータを制御するためのコントローラ、
を備え、前記コントローラは、前記圧電アクチュエータに、
射出されるインク滴の所望の大きさに基づいて励起波形を形成するために、所定の射出パルスのパレットから射出パルスの組合せを選択し、
前記インクチャンバから第1のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第1の射出パルスを印加し、
選ばれた休止期間の経過後、前記インクチャンバから第2のインク塊を吐出させるために、前記励起波形の第2の射出パルスを印加する、
ように構成され、前記第1と第2のインク塊が、前記インクチャンバから射出される、1つの塊のみを含む1−塊インク滴より大きいインク滴の大きさを有する、2つの塊を含む2−塊インク滴を形成し、
