Abstract
【解決手段】有機パッシベーション膜109は表示領域30の外側にまで形成されている。表示領域30を囲んで溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部20が形成されている。シール材10は、コーナー部において、重ねて塗布されているので、TFT基板と対向基板を重ねて所定の間隔とした場合に、シール材10の広がりが大きくなることを防止するために、溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部20の幅を、コーナー部において、辺部よりも大きくする。余分なシール材10は、コーナー部における幅の広い溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部20に吸収されるので、シール材10が表示領域30の内側にはみだすことを防止することが出来る。

Claims (4)
- 表示領域を有し、有機パッシベーション膜が形成されたTFT基板と、シール部におけるシール材を介して対向基板が配置され、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記TFT基板の前記表示領域の外側にまで、前記有機パッシベーション膜が形成され、前記有機パッシベーション膜は、前記シール部においては、前記表示領域を囲んで溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部を有し、コーナー部における前記溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部の幅は、辺部における溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部の幅よりも大きく、
前記TFT基板の前記シール部には、周辺回路部が形成され、
前記シール部においては、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔は、前記対向基板に形成された柱状スペーサと、前記TFT基板に形成された有機パッシベーション膜の台座によって規定されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - コーナー部における前記溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部の幅は、辺部における溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部の幅の3倍以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記有機パッシベーション膜の上には、無機絶縁膜が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部は複数形成され、内側の溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部はコーナー部において、辺部における溝状の有機パッシベーション膜除去部の幅よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
