Abstract
【解決手段】
平面状に形成されたコモン電極の上に層間絶縁膜が形成され、その上に画素電極112が形成され、TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔は、柱状スペーサ30によって規定される。画素電極112は、1本の櫛歯状電極とコンタクト部を有し、櫛歯状電極の先端は、平面で見て、柱状スペーサと重畳している。画素電極112に電界が印加されたときに、液晶分子を逆回転させるような電界が発生する領域には柱状スペーサ30が存在しているので、液晶分子の逆回転は起こらず、ドメインの発生を防止することができる。

Description
平面で見て前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする(3)に記載の液晶表示装置。
以上では、平面状のコモン電極の上に、層間絶縁膜を介して、櫛歯電極を有する画素電極が配置している構成について、本発明を説明した。しかし、平面状の画素電極の上に層間絶縁膜を介してスリットを有するコモン電極が形成されている場合にも、同様な動作をさせることができる。この場合の、コモン電極に形成されたスリットも、画素のサイズが小さくなると、画素当たり1本のスリットしか形成することが出来なくなる。
Claims (7)
- 画素電極とTFTを有する画素がマトリクス状に形成され、対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記画素において、平面状に形成されたコモン電極の上に層間絶縁膜が形成され、その上に画素電極が形成され、
前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔は、柱状スペーサによって規定され、
前記画素電極は、1本の櫛歯状電極とコンタクト部を有し、前記櫛歯状電極の先端は、平面で見て、前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記画素電極の前記櫛歯状電極の先端は屈曲し、幅が端部に向かって除々に狭くなっていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 画素電極とTFTを有する画素がマトリクス状に形成され、対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記画素において、平面状に形成されたコモン電極の上に層間絶縁膜が形成され、その上に画素電極が形成され、
前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔は、柱状スペーサによって規定され、
前記画素電極は、1本の櫛歯状電極とコンタクト部を有し、前記櫛歯状電極の前記コンタクト部は、平面で見て、前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記コンタクト部に対する前記櫛歯状電極のつけ根は、平面で見て前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記コンタクト部はコーナー部を有し、平面で見て前記コーナー部は、前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 画素電極とTFTを有する画素がマトリクス状に形成され、対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置であって、
前記画素において、平面状に形成された画素電極の上に層間絶縁膜が形成され、その上にスリットを有するコモン電極が形成され、
前記TFT基板と前記対向基板の間隔は、柱状スペーサによって規定され、
前記コモン電極の前記スリットの先端は、平面で見て、前記柱状スペーサと重畳していることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記コモン電極の前記スリットの先端は屈曲しており、端部に向かって除々に幅が狭くなる構成であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
