Description
本発明は、国防総省からの補助金DAMD17−99−1−9477とDAMD17−02−1−0205を受けて米国政府の支援の下で完成した。米国政府は確かに本発明に対して権利を有する。
本出願が優先権を主張するものは、「精密な患者の位置合わせとビーム療法システム」と称する2003年8月12日出願の米国仮出願第60/494,699号と、「精密な患者の位置合わせとビーム療法システム」と称する、2004年6月10日出願の米国仮出願第60/579,095号であり、両出願の内容は参照により完全に本明細書中に取り込まれている。

Claims (44)
- 放射線治療プロトコールに従って、放射線治療中に癌患者を定位置に効率よく固定し、次の放射線治療用定位置に患者を再位置決めするためのモジュール式患者支持システムであって、

前記モジュール式患者ポッドは、
縦方向に伸び概ね半円筒形である支持シェルであって、シェル近位端からシェル縦中心部を経てシェル遠位端に伸びており、横方向に凹の底面、横方向に凹の上面、上方に伸長する第一の側縁、及び上方に伸長する第二の側縁を有する前記支持シェルと、
シェル近位端に配置された近位延伸トラックであって、当該近位延伸トラックの厚さ方向に貫通する複数の開口を備え、ピン又はボルトにより少なくとも一つの延伸部が連結されるように形成された近位延伸トラックと、
シェル遠位端に配置された遠位延伸トラックであって、当該遠位延伸トラックの厚さ方向に貫通する複数の開口を備え、ピン又はボルトにより少なくとも一つの延伸部が連結されるように形成された遠位延伸トラックと、

- 前記第二の側縁は、第二テーパー端及び第二縦伸長レールを備え、当該第二レールが第二テーパー端の形状に補足的な第二レール下位部及び丸みを付けられた第二レール上位部を備え、当該第二レールが第二低密度材料を備え、第二テーパー端が放射線治療プロトコールに従って前記第二の側縁を貫いて所定の放射線ビーム線量を送出しやすくすることを特徴とする、請求項31に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記第二テーパー端が、約0.1mm水当量/mmから約5mm水当量/mmの勾配で先細になっていることを特徴とする、請求項37に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記第二テーパー端が、約0.5mm水当量/mmの勾配で先細になっていることを特徴とする、請求項37に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記第二低密度材料が、微細球を伴うエポキシを含むことを特徴とする請求項37に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記第二低密度材料がナイロンを含むことを特徴とする、請求項37に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記第二低密度材料がウレタンを含むことを特徴とする、請求項37に記載の患者ポッド。
- 前記放射線治療プロトコールが患者体内の目標位置に陽子線ビームを送出することを含む、請求項31に記載の患者ポッド。
- 放射線治療プロトコールに従って癌患者を放射線で治療するためのモジュール式患者ポッドであって、
シェル近位端からシェル縦中央部を経てシェル遠位端へ伸びる支持シェルであって、第一の側縁及び第二の側縁を有する支持シェルと、
シェル近位端に配置された近位延伸トラックであって、当該近位延伸トラックの厚さ方向に貫通する複数の開口を備え、ピン又はボルトにより少なくとも一つの延伸部が連結されるように形成された近位延伸トラックと、
シェル遠位端に配置された遠位延伸トラックであって、当該遠位延伸トラックの厚さ方向に貫通する複数の開口を備え、ピン又はボルトにより少なくとも一つの延伸部が連結されるように形成された遠位延伸トラックと、を備え、
前記第一の側縁は治療プロトコールに従って第一の側縁を横断するいずれかのビームに関連するいずれかのエッジ効果を緩和するための手段を備え、
前記第二の側縁は治療プロトコールに従って第二の側縁を横断するいずれかのビームに関連するいずれかのエッジ効果を緩和するための手段を備えることを特徴とする、モジュール式患者ポッド。
