技术领域

背景技术
通常从能够覆盖大型区域(诸多公里的小区半径)的常规基站提供用于诸如GSM和UMTS等标准的广域蜂窝服务。然而,因为建筑物结构的射频衰减和来自周围建筑物的无线电遮蔽效应,在建筑物内的覆盖可能变得更加复杂。因为使用高阶星座或低扩频因子的信号需要更高的信噪图,对于诸如EDGE和UMTS等目标是提供中速至高速数据的标准,此覆盖问题变得更加困难。因为这些信号通过建筑物结构经受更大的衰减,诸如用于UMTS的高频也加重了此问题。

图1是图示系统结构的方框示意图。移动网络运营商(MNO)拥有和操作无线通信网络,包括无线电访问网络10,其包括蜂窝基站网络(未图示),和核心网络20,其具有到固定电话网络的连接。这些是常规的,除了如下面所描述的。
当在由无线通信网络覆盖的地区内漫游时,移动电话30能够建立与蜂窝基站之一的无线连接,从而与固定电话网络内的其它电话通信,或者与已经建立它们自身的与蜂窝基站的无线连接的其它移动电话通信,因此与固定电话网络通信。

访问点50具有在家庭或办公室40内用于以太网局域网(LAN)42的连接。如图1所示,访问点50可以在以太网LAN 42连接到一个或多个本地PC或服务器44。
访问点50可以在以太网LAN 42上连接到IP网关设备60。通过数字用户线路(DSL)或者通过诸如数字多媒体有线网络等其它IP传输方法,IP网关设备60提供在诸如互联网等IP网络70上到MNO网络的IP连接。因而,可以使用自家庭或办公室的现有IP连接提供自访问点50的回程。使用通过UMA网关22的UMA标准,通过到MNO核心网络或者无线电访问网络的连接可以提供到运营商网络20的灵活接口。此方法支持使用基于网际协议的语音(VoIP)技术的数据和语音的低成本传输。
由UMA未许可网络控制器(UNC)12提供在IP网络70上从IP网关60到MNO无线电访问网络10的连接,所述控制器已经由3GPP标准化为普通访问网络控制器(GANC)。也可以使用到无线电访问网络10的接口的其它非标准化解决方案作为替代方法。通过使用在访问点和诸如SIP网关或IP多媒体子系统等适当网关之间的SIP接口,可以实现到运营商核心网络的直接连接。

访问点50包括服务平台,其可以是四个数据网络的潜在联合,即外部MNO核心网络20、外部互联网70、诸如移动电话30的移动设备(通过GSM/UMTS)和家庭网络(通过以太网)。

UMTS访问层功能138包括一些SGSN功能、无线电网络控制器(RNC)功能和在基带调制解调器92上实施的到UMTS物理层的接口。对于支持UMTS的所有访问点服务都需要RNC和物理层接口功能,而与所使用的核心网络接口无关。

GSM/GPRS层1

每个IP设备客户机144访问在访问点50内的业务路径,并可以由在ZN层132内的对话控制器控制,所述控制器可以开始和结束与可访问IP设备的呼叫/数据对话。在访问点50内包括专用于特定设备或服务的IP设备客户机的软件结构支持将在访问点50内路由选择来自该特定设备或服务的业务,以便可以将其连接到通过GSM或UMTS访问层访问的GSM/UMTS移动设备或者通过UMA客户机访问的MNO核心网络。
此外,每个IP设备客户机144访问在LAN上的其它设备,并还访问在互联网70上可访问的其它设备。例如,通过使用适当的IP设备客户机144,可以在互联网70上将连接到访问点50的POTS电话连接到另一个POTS电话,从而进行语音呼叫。
而且,每个IP设备客户机144访问MNO的移动网络。具体而言,连接到LAN 42的任意设备或者连接到IP网关60的任意设备可以具有IP设备客户机144,该客户机可以关联自身与连接到USIM接口84的USIM卡。从MNO网络的观点来看,任一此类设备因此看起来将是移动的,并将允许其访问MNO网络。因此,通过提供具有适当期望功能的设备,随后使用USIM卡以允许在MNO核心网络上将该设备连接到一个或多个其它设备,可以将各种服务提供给用户。
进一步使用连接到USIM接口84的USIM卡以允许驻留到访问点上的移动电话以类似于多扩展无绳电话系统的方式工作。在该特定服务配置内,在访问点50内的USIM卡承载IMSI标识符和MSISDN编号,其实际上定义安装访问点50的家庭或办公室的电话号码,尽管它在移动网络运营商的系统看起来是移动号码。当呼叫在访问点50内USIM卡的MSISDN编号时,振铃驻留到访问点50的全部移动电话,直到它们中的一个应答。以这种方式,将把到个人的来话呼叫引导到该个人的移动电话的MSISDN编号,因此可能不同于通过呼叫MSISDN编号呼叫在家庭或办公室内任一用户的呼叫。当呼叫访问点自身的MSISDN编号时,则改变访问点50的呼叫处理功能。
图4是图示在本发明一种实施例中支持的业务和控制互连的示意图。在图4图示的实施例中,软件包括三个IP设备电话机,即可以通过IP网关60的VoIP端口连接到POTS电话62的第一IP设备客户机146,可以在LAN上连接到本地PC或服务器44的第二IP设备客户机148和可以在IP网络70上连接到互联网设备72上的网站的第三IP设备客户机150。因此,服务环境120包括POTS应用152、PC应用154和与这三个IP设备客户机对应的网站应用156。在这些情况下,在将要连接到诸如IP网关60、本地PC44和/或GSM/UMTS移动设备30的设备内还可能将需要专用于特定服务的应用软件。通过操作访问点50的MNO,可以提供适当的应用软件,从而便于期望的整体服务。
因此,在服务环境120内操作的应用能够开始和结束与驻留到访问点50和MNO核心网络20上的移动站的呼叫或数据对话,和通过IP设备客户机,能够访问和控制在网关、连接到以太网LAN的设备和通过互联网可访问的远程设备内的服务。用户还能够通过MS客户机130与管理系统74交互。
由专用于在访问点50服务环境内执行的服务的Java应用处理“呼叫”或连接的开始和结束的控制。在访问点50的API库(如图3所示)内提供的功能允许通过在访问点50的网络层132内实施的对话控制的呼叫控制和路由选择。
如上所述,访问点50执行空中接口加密,其常规上不在蜂窝网络的基站内,而是在核心网络内执行。这意味着访问点50能够确定正在进行的呼叫类型。这又允许访问点50将附加服务提供给驻留移动设备。
例如,可以使用在服务环境内运行的应用补充驻留到访问点50的移动电话的性能。例如,遗留下的GSM和UMTS移动站在驻留到访问点50上时可以利用通过系统可用的新服务性能,例如IMS。访问点50可以用作在新核心网络服务平台和遗留移动电话之间的互通功能或“代理”。例如,当在网络内部署IMS时,规划提供即时消息器(IM)功能的所谓基于存在的服务将在未来手机内可用。然而,将要求用户使用兼容设备替换他们的手机以使用这些服务。相反地,访问点应用可以提供在遗留移动设备和新核心网络存在服务平台之间的互通;当用户的移动设备漫游到访问点50上时,指示用户在网络上“出现”。发送到驻留到访问点50上的用户的即时消息可以由访问点转换成常规SMS消息,随后将其发送给用户。类似地,可以将从驻留到ZAP上的用户返回的SMS消息转换成用于发送回核心网络的其它消息格式。
相同原理的另一应用可以是“按键通话”性能,其中访问点50提供在遗留移动设备和在MNO核心网络内的中央呼叫服务器之间的互通功能。
因此,位于基于家庭或办公室的访问点50内的服务环境120有效地联合四个不同网络,即MNO核心网络20(通过IP网关60)、互联网(也通过IP网关60)、本地LAN(通过以太网端口)和驻留到访问点50上的本地移动设备(通过GSM或UMTS空中接口)。
例如,这允许各种服务选项。
可以在驻留到访问点50上的GSM/UMTS移动设备和连接到本地以太网LAN网络的设备,例如PC/服务器、网络摄影和其它家庭安全和/或家庭自动化传感器和传动器,之间建立直接连接。此连接位于访问点50本地,并不需要涉及MNO核心网络以承载业务。
可以在驻留到访问点50的GSM/UMTS移动设备和互联网之间建立直接连接,而不需要涉及MNO核心网络。这允许GSM/UMTS移动设备访问网页和互联网内容,而不因为此业务加重核心网络20的负担,因此,对于MNO来说优点在于其基础设施成本可能较低。
可以在驻留到访问点50上的GSM/UMTS移动设备和驻留到可通过互联网直接访问的其它访问点上的GSM/UMTS设备之间建立直接连接。此性能允许将诸如用户在它们的家庭访问点50或者语音/视频呼叫等信息在互联网上直接从一个访问点传送给另一个访问点,而不需要涉及MNO核心网络20承载该业务。
可以在MNO核心网络20和在IP网关设备60内的设备或应用和连接到本地以太网LAN网络的其它设备或应用之间建立直接连接。此性能例如将允许:
i.使用在IP网关设备60上的VoIP/POTS端口进行在MNO网络内的电话呼叫,使用访问点50内的USIM卡以定义POTS电话的“移动号码”和其它必需细节;
ii.使用在IP网关设备60上的IPTV以在所连接的TV屏幕上显示输入视频呼叫、移动电视流或MMS消息;
iii.在MNO广域网内漫游的用户通过它的GSM/UMTS移动设备和MNO核心网络20和MNO无线电网络10访问它的家庭PC或服务器,或者连接到本地以太网LAN的家庭安全和/或自动化设备。
因此,访问点50向用户提供改进的服务,同时降低移动网络运营商的成本。
Claims (19)
1.一种用于蜂窝无线通信网络的基站,包括:
第一接口,支持在蜂窝无线通信网络内使用蜂窝无线通信协议与远程通信设备的连接;
第二接口,支持在广域网上的连接;和
第三接口,支持在局域网上的连接,
还包括:
软件,用于支持在广域网上在连接到第一接口的远程通信设备和蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络之间的通信;和
软件,用于支持在局域网上在连接到第一接口的远程通信设备和连接到局域网的设备之间的通信,而不通过蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络传送业务。
2.如权利要求1要求保护的基站,其中该基站能够执行通过第一接口与远程移动设备的通信的加密。
3.如权利要求2要求保护的基站,其中该基站能够执行在蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络上可用的功能和不支持该功能的远程通信设备之间的互通,以便该远程通信设备能够访问所述功能。
4.如权利要求2要求保护的基站,其中该基站适合于解密在第一接口上从远程通信设备接收到消息,从而访问从其接收的数据分组,进而能够根据需要路由选择所述数据分组。
5.一种蜂窝无线通信网络,包括如权利要求1、2、3或4要求保护的基站,还包括管理节点,其能够定义连接到局域网的每个设备,在不通过蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络传送业务的情况下,连接到第一接口的远程通信设备能够与其通信。
6.如权利要求5要求保护的蜂窝无线通信网络,其中该管理节点能够指定分配给该基站的所述蜂窝无线通信网络的信道。
7.一种用于蜂窝无线通信网络的基站,包括:

13.如权利要求12要求保护的基站,其中所述软件支持在广域网上在连接到第一接口的远程通信设备和连接到所述另一基站的另一远程通信设备之间的的通信,而不通过蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络传送业务。
14.一种蜂窝无线通信网络,包括如权利要求7至13中任一权利要求要求保护的基站,还包括管理节点,其能够定义连接到广域网的每个另一设备,在不通过蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络传送业务的情况下,连接到第一接口的远程通信设备能够与其通信。
15.如权利要求14要求保护的蜂窝无线通信网络,其中该管理节点能够指定分配给该基站的所述蜂窝无线通信网络的信道。
16.一种用于蜂窝无线通信网络的基站,包括:
无线接口,支持在蜂窝无线通信网络内使用蜂窝无线通信协议与一个或多个远程通信设备的连接;

还包括:
软件,用于允许连接到局域网的设备与连接到所述SIM接口的SIM卡关联,以在蜂窝无线通信网络的核心网络上通信,同时对于所述核心网络看起来是移动设备。
