Abstract

전이 알루미나 및/또는 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료를 염화 수소 1용적%이상을 함유하는 대기 또는 염소 1용적%이상 및 증기 0.1용적%이상을 함유하는 대기중에서 600℃이상, 바람직하게는 600내지 1,400℃, 더욱 바람직하게는 800내지 1,200℃의 온도에서 하소시킴을 특징으로 하여 α-알루미나 단독 결정 입자를 포함하는 α-알루미나 분말을 제조하는 방법. 유용한 알루미나 원료의 예에는 수산화 알루미늄, 명반 및 황산 알루미늄이 포함된다. 이 방법은 순도가 높고 미세하고 균질하며, 입자 크기 분포가 좁고, 응집되지 않으며, 종류, 순도, 형태, 입자 크기 및 조성이 서로 상이한 다양한 알루미나 원료로부터 8면체 이상의 다면체를 행성하는 α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자를 포함하는 α-알루미나 분말을 제공할 수 있다.

제1도는 실시예 1에서 수득한 α-알루미나의 미립자 형태를 나타내는 주사 전자현미경(SEM) 사진(배율:730)이다.
제3도는 실시예 2에서 수득한 a-알루미나의 입자 크기분포도이다.
제8도는 7-알루미나 단일 결정의 결정 성질을 나타낸다.

Claims (11)

  1. 전이 알루미나 및/또는 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료를 염화수소 1용적%이상을 함유하는 대기중에서 600℃이상의 온도에서 하소시킴을 특징으로 하여 α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  2. 600℃이상의 온도에서, 염소 1용적%이상 및 증기 0.1용적%이상을 대기에 도입시키면서, 전이 알루미나 및/또는 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료를 하소시킴을 특징으로 하여 α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 하소 온도가 600 내지 1,400℃인, α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  4. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 하소 온도가 870 내지 1,200℃인, α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  5. 제1항, 제2항 및 제3항중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료가 수산화 알루미늄임을 특징으로 하여 α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  6. 제1항, 제2항 및 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료가 명반 또는 황산 알루미늄임을 특징으로 하여 α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  7. 전이 알루미나 및/또는 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료를 염화 수소 1용적%이상을 함유하는 대기중에서 600 내지 1,400℃의 온도에서 하소시킴을 특징으로 하여, 균질하고, 팔면체 이상의 다면체 형태를 갖고, D/H비(여기서, D는 입자의 빽빽히 찬 육각형 격자의 육각형 격자면에 평행인 최대 입자 직경을 나타내고, H는 육각형 격자면에 수직인 직경을 나타낸다)가 0.5 내지 3.0인 α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자를 포함하는 α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  8. 600 내지 1,400℃의 온도에서 염소 1용적%이상 및 증기 0.1용적%이상을 대기에 도입시키민서 전이 알루미나 및/또는 가열시에 전이 알루미나로 전환될 수 있는 알루미나 원료를 하소시킴을 특징으로 하여, 균질하고, 팔면체 이상의 다면체 형태를 갖고 D/H비(여기서, D는 입자의 빽빽히 찬 육각형 격자의 육각형 격자면에 평행인 최대 입자 직경을 나타내고, H는 육각헝 격자면에 수직인 직경을 나타낸다)가 0.5내지 3.0인 α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자를 포함하는 α-알루미나를 제조하는 법.
  9. 제7항 또는 제8항에 있어서, α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자가 십면체 이상의 다면체 형태를 갖음을 특징으로 하여, α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자를 포함하는 α-알루미나률 제조하는 방법.
  10. 제7항 도는 제8항에 있어서, α-알루미나 단일 결정 입자가 평균 입자 직경이 0.1 내지 30㎛이고 D9O/D1O비(여기서, D1O 및 D9O은 각각 직경이 작은 쪽으로부터 도시한 누적 분포도의 누적 10% 직경 및 누적 90% 직경을 나타낸다)가 10이하인 평균 입자 분포 범위를 갖는, α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
  11. 제7항 또는 제8항에 있어서, α-알루미나의 알루미나 순도가 99.90량% 이상임을 특징으로 하는, α-알루미나를 제조하는 방법.
