Description
本発明は吸収剤に関するものである。更に詳し
くは、水性物質と接した時に高度に水性物質を吸
収し、しかも加圧下に於いても保水性の大きい吸
収剤に関するものである。 従来、生理綿、紙おむつあるいはその他の体液
を吸収する衛生材料に、一構成材料として吸収性
樹脂を用いる試みがなされている。 この様な吸収性樹脂としては、たとえば、デン
プン―アクリロニトリルグラフト重合体の加水分
解物、デンプン―アクリル酸グラフト重合体の中
和物、酢酸ビニル―アクリル酸エステル共重合体
のケン化物、アクリロニトリル共重合体もしくは
アクリルアミド共重合体の加水分解物、またはこ
れらの架橋体、逆相懸濁重合によつて得られた自
己架橋型ポリアクリル酸ナトリウム、ポリアクリ
ル酸部分中和物架橋体等が知られている。 ところが、これらの従来の吸収性樹脂はいずれ
も綿状パルプや紙に比較して、吸収速度が遅いと
いう致命的な欠陥を有している。そのために、た
とえば紙おむつに従来の吸収性樹脂を組み込んだ
場合、尿が排泄されたのちしばらくは紙おむつの
吸収量が少ないために肌に尿がふれて不快感があ
り、サラツと乾いた状態になるのに時間を要して
いるのが現状である。そこで、吸収速度を速くす
るために種々の試みがなされている。 たとえば、表面積を大きくするために、粒径を
下さくしたり、顆粒状にしたりあるいはリン片状
にしたりする試みがなされている。ところが、一
般に吸収性樹脂の粒径を小さくすると、尿に接し
た場合いわゆる“ママコ”になり、却つて吸収速
度が遅くなる。吸収性樹脂を顆粒状に成型する
と、顆粒状それ自体が一つの“ママコ”になり、
却つて吸収速度が遅くなる現象がみられる。ま
た、吸収性樹脂をリン片状にすると、吸収速度は
かなり改善されるがなお不十分であり、しかもリ
ン片状にするために工程面からの制約があるの
で、平衡吸収量が小さいという欠点がある。さら
に、リン片状では必然的にかさ高くなるので、運
搬、貯蔵に大きな設備が必要となり、経済的でな
い。 本発明者らは、従来知られている吸収性樹脂の
有している上記の如き問題を解決すべく鋭意研究
を重ねた結果、吸収性樹脂粉末に多価アルコール
を混合・熱処理して得られた吸収剤が従来の吸収
性樹脂の有する問題点を解決することを見出して
本発明を完成するに至つた。 従つて、本発明の目的は、吸収速度が大きく、
平衡吸収量も大きな吸収剤を提供することにあ
る。 即ち、本発明の吸収剤はカルボキシル基を有す
る吸収性樹脂粉末に多価アルコールを、吸収性樹
脂100重量部に対して多価アルコールを0.001〜10
重量部の割合で混合し、90℃以上の温度で熱処理
して得られるものである。 本発明において用いられる吸収性樹脂は、カル
ボキシル基を有していることが必要である。この
ような吸収性樹脂としては、デンプン―アクリロ
ニトリルグラフト重合体の加水分解物、デンプン
―アクリル酸グラフト重合体の部分中和物、酢酸
ビニル―アクリル酸エステル共重合体のケン化
物、アクリロニトリル共重合体もしくはアクリル
アミド共重合体の加水分解物、またはこれらの架
橋体、ポリアクリル酸部分中和物、ポリアクリル
酸部分中和物架橋体等の１種又は２種以上を用い
ることができる。また、架橋構造を有しているこ
とが望ましいが、架橋構造を有していないもので
も用いることができる。 このような吸収性樹脂の中で、本発明で好まし
いものとしては、例えば次の第〜項の各項に
示した吸収性樹脂を挙げることができる。 アクリル酸１〜50モル％とアクリル酸アルカ
リ金属塩50〜99モル％とからなるアクリル酸塩
系単量体100重量部と架橋性単量体０〜５重量
部との単量体成分を20重量％以上の濃度で水溶
液共重合してゲル状含水重合体とし、次いで加
熱乾燥して得られたアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩
系重合体。 脂環族および／または脂肪族炭化水素溶媒中
に水溶性ラジカル重合開始剤および必要により
架橋性単量体を含有するアクリル酸および／ま
たはアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩の水溶液を
HLB3〜12の界面活性剤の存在下に分散懸濁重
合させて得た吸収性樹脂。 ビニルエステルとエチレン系不飽和カルボン
酸またはその誘導体との共重合体のケン化物。 デンプンおよび／またはセルロース、カルボ
キシル基を有するかまたは加水分解によりカル
ボキシル基を生成する単量体、および必要によ
り架橋性単量体を、水性媒体中で重合させ、必
要によりさらに加水分解を行うことにより得ら
れた吸収性樹脂。 α―オレフインおよびビニル化合物からなる
群より選ばれた少なくとも１種以上の単量体と
無水マレイン酸とからなる無水マレイン酸系共
重合体にアルカリ性物質を反応させ、必要によ
り得られた反応生成物に多価エポキシ化合物を
反応させて得られた吸収性樹脂。 吸収性樹脂の有するカルボキシル基の量につい
ては、カルボキシル基が存在すれば特に制限はな
いが、吸収性樹脂100ｇ当りカルボキシル基が
0.01当量以上存在することが好ましい。ポリアク
リル酸部分中和物を例にとれば、未中和部分の割
合が１〜50モル％であることが好ましい。 本発明において用いられる吸収性樹脂粉末の形
状は、例えば逆相懸濁重合で得られる球状、ドラ
ム乾燥で得られるリン片状、樹脂塊を粉砕して得
られる無定形状等のいずれでもよい。吸収性樹脂
粉末の粒子の大きさは吸収速度の点からは小さい
ものが好ましく、60メツシユを通過するものの割
合が70重量％以上であることが好ましい。60メツ
シユを通過するものの割合が70重量％以下である
と、吸収速度が小さくなる傾向がある。 本発明において使用される多価アルコールは、
水酸基を１分子当り２個以上持つことが必要であ
る。そのような多価アルコールの中でも特に、ジ
エチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、
ポリエチレングリコール、グリセリン、ポリグリ
セリン、プロピレングリコール、ジエタノールア
ミン、トリエタノールアミン、ポリオキシプロピ
レン、オキシエチレンオキシプロピレンブロツク
共重合体、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、ポリオキ
シエチレンソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、トリメチ
ロールプロパン、ペンタエリスリトールおよびソ
ルビトールからなる群から選ばれた１種又は２種
以上が好ましい。 本発明に用いられる多価アルコールの使用量は
吸収性樹脂100重量部に対して0.001〜10重量部、
好ましくは0.01〜５重量部の範囲の割合である。
この範囲内の量であれば吸収速度の大きな吸収剤
が得られる。しかし、10重量部を超える量では不
経済となるばかりか、吸収性樹脂の割合が少なく
なるので吸収量が少なくなる。逆に0.001重量部
未満の少ない量では熱処理に長時間を要しても吸
収速度の改良が見られない。 本発明において、吸収性樹脂粉末と多価アルコ
ールとの混合には、通常の混合機を用いることが
できる。例えば、Ｖ型混合機、リボン型混合機、
スクリユー型混合機、回転円板型混合機、気流型
混合機等である。 吸収性樹脂粉末と多価アルコールとの混合物の
熱処理には通常の乾燥機や加熱炉を用いることが
できる。例えば、みぞ型かくはん乾燥機、回転乾
燥機、円盤乾燥機、〓和乾燥機、流動層乾燥機、
気流乾燥機、赤外線乾燥機等である。熱処理温度
は90℃以上、好ましくは120℃以上である。90℃
未満では熱処理に長時間を要するので経済的でな
い。 混合及び熱処理に際して、混合機が加熱可能な
ものならば混合機で混合と熱処理を同時に行なつ
てもよい。また、熱処理機が撹拌可能なものなら
ば、熱処理機で混合を行なうと同時に熱処理を行
なつてもよい。 このようにして得られた本発明の吸収剤は、従
来公知の吸収性樹脂に比較して優れた性能を有し
ているものである。すなわち、本発明の吸収剤は
吸収性樹脂を多価アルコールと混合・熱処理とい
う工業的に簡単な方法によつて得られるものであ
る。そして、従来公知の吸収性樹脂に比較してマ
マコになりにくく大きな吸収速度を有している。
また、吸湿時の粉体のケーキ化が起こりにくいと
いう予期し得なかつた効果も有している。 本発明の吸収剤は、紙おむつ、生理綿等用の吸
収剤として用いることができる他に、汚泥の凝
固、建材の結露防止、農園芸用保水剤あるいは乾
燥剤等として広い用途に用いることができる。 以下、実施例により本発明を詳細に説明する
が、本発明の範囲がこれらの実施例にのみ限定さ
れるものではない。尚、例中特にことわりのない
限り、％は重量％を、部は重量部をそれぞれ示す
ものとする。 実施例 １ アクリル酸ナトリウム74.95モル％、アクリル
酸25モル％及びトリメチロールプロパントリアク
リレート0.05モル％からなるアクリル酸塩系単量
体の43％水溶液4000部を、過硫酸アンモニウム
0.6部及び亜硫酸水素ナトリウム0.2部を用いて窒
素雰囲気中55〜80℃で静置重合し、ゲル状含水重
合体を得た。このゲル状含水重合体を180℃の熱
風乾燥器で乾燥後、振動式粉砕機で粉砕し、100
メツシユ通過物（粉体Ａ）及び60メツシユ通過物
（粉体Ｂ）を各々分取した。 粉体A100部にグリセリン0.3部を加えてスクリ
ユー型混合機により混合し、得られた混合物を円
盤乾燥機により熱処理を行なつた。すなわち、
220℃の熱媒で加熱した円盤上に上記混合物を厚
さ１cmになるようにのせ、スクレーパーで撹拌し
ながら15分間加熱して吸収剤(1)を得た。同様にし
て粉体Ｂを熱処理して吸収剤(2)を得た。 得られた吸収剤のそれぞれ0.2ｇを不織布製の
テイーバツグ式袋（40mm×150mm）に均一に入
れ、0.9％食塩水に浸漬し、30秒後および10分後
の重量を測定した。テイーバツグ式袋のみの吸収
重量をブランクとし、次式に従つて吸収剤の膨潤
倍率を算出した。 膨潤倍率＝吸収後の重量（ｇ）−ブランク（ｇ）／粉体
の重量（ｇ） また、ママコ生成の有無を、水で湿らせた紙の
上に少量の吸収剤をおとした時の様子を観察する
ことにより行なつた。 第１表に結果を示すが、粉体ＡおよびＢに比べ
吸収剤(1)および(2)は吸収速度が著しく改善されて
いる。 実施例 ２ 実施例１で得た粉体Ａを用いて実施例１におけ
るグリセリンを以下に記す多価アルコールにおき
かえた以外は実施例１と同様にして吸収剤(3)〜(10)
を得た。すなわち、ポリエチレングリコール300
（吸収剤(3)）、ポリエチレングリコール400（吸収
剤(4)）、ポリエチレングリコール600（吸収剤
(5)）、トリエタノールアミン（吸収剤(6)）、ソルビ
タンモノラウレート（吸収剤(7)）、ポリオキシエ
チレンソルビタンモノステアレート（吸収剤
(8)）、トリメチロールプロパン（吸収剤(9)）、ソル
ビトール（吸収剤(10)）をそれぞれ用いた。 吸収剤(3)〜(10)について、実施例１と同様に評価
した。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ３ トウモロコシデンプン50部、水200部およびメ
タノール1000部を撹拌棒、窒素吹き込み管および
温度計を備え付けた反応容器に仕込み、窒素気流
下50℃で１時間撹拌したのち30℃に冷却し、25部
のアクリル酸、75部のアクリル酸ソーダ、0.5部
のメチレンビスアクリルアミド、重合触媒として
0.1部の過硫酸アンモンおよび促進剤として0.1部
の亜硫酸水素ナトリウムを添加し、60℃で４時間
反応せしめたところ、白色懸濁液が得られた。 この白色懸濁液を過して得られた粉末を水―
メタノール混合溶液（水対メタノールは重量比で
２：10）で洗浄し、60℃、３時間減圧乾燥したの
ち粉砕し、さらに100メツシユ金網でふるい分け
して100メツシユ通過物を得た（粉体Ｃ）。 粉体C100部に、グリセリン１部を加え、回転
円板型混合機により混合し、得られた混合物を流
動層乾燥機中で200℃の熱風により10分間熱処理
を行なつて吸収剤(11)を得た。吸収剤(11)について実
施例１と同様に評価した。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ４ 酢酸ビニル60部とアクリル酸メチル40部からな
る混合物に重合開始剤としてベンゾイルパーオキ
サイド0.5部を加えこれを部分ケン化ポリビニル
アルコール３部と食塩10部とを含む水300部中に
分散せしめ、65℃で６時間懸濁重合せしめたの
ち、過、乾燥して共重合体を得た。得られた共
重合体をケン化、洗滌、乾燥したものを粉砕、分
級して、60メツシユを通過した粉体Ｄを得た。 粉体D100部にトリメチロールプロパン１部を
加え、ジヤケツトを熱媒で230℃に加熱したリボ
ンブレンダーに投入し、15分間混合することによ
り、混合および熱処理を行ない吸収剤(12)を得た。
吸収剤(12)について実施例１と同様に評価した。結
果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ５ 反応器にｎ―ヘキサン300部をとり、ソルビタ
ンモノステアレート0.7部を溶解した。次いでこ
の中にアクリル酸30部を水40部に溶解したのち
12.5部のカセイソーダで中和し、更に過硫酸カリ
ウム0.05部を溶解したモノマー水溶液を加えて分
散させ、窒素気流下65℃に保つて５時間重合を行
なつた。重合終了後、減圧乾燥して粉体Ｅを得
た。 粉体E100部に、ポリエチレングリコール300を
１部加え、Ｖ型混合機により混合を行なつた。得
られた混合物をベルトコンベヤーにうすくのせ、
赤外線乾燥機中を通過させて熱処理を行ない、吸
収剤（13）を得た。平均加熱時間は４分間で、乾
燥機出口での材料温度は230℃であつた。 吸収剤（13）について実施例１と同様に評価し
た。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ６ イソブチレン―無水マレイン酸共重合体154
部、カセイソーダ64部および水398部を混合し、
90℃で２時間加熱撹拌して均一な水溶液を調整し
た。次いでこの水溶液にグリセリンジグリシジル
エーテル2.5部を添加し、混合後バツトへ流し込
み、110℃の熱風乾燥器中で架橋反応をおこさし
め、乾燥後粉砕、分級して60メツシユパスの粉体
Ｆを得た。 220℃の熱媒により加熱されたパドルドライヤ
ーに粉体Ｆおよびポリエチレングリコール400
を、粉体F100部に対してポリエチレングリコー
ル400を0.5部の割合でそれぞれ定量的に連続供給
して混合および熱処理を行ない、吸収剤（14）を
得た。パドルドライヤー内の平均滞留時間は10分
であつた。 吸収剤（14）について実施例１と同様に評価し
た。結果を第１表に示す。 比較例 １ 実施例１において、アクリル酸塩系単量体水溶
液にグリセリン２部を加える他は実施例１と同様
にして重合、乾燥、粉砕を行なつた。得られた粉
体の100メツシユ通過物をとり（粉体Ｇ）ステン
レス製皿にのせ、200℃熱風乾燥器中で15分間熱
処理して比較吸収剤(1)とした。 粉体Ｇおよび比較吸収剤(1)について実施例１と
同様にして評価した。結果を第１表に示す。 比較例 ２ 実施例１で得られたゲル状含水重合体を３mm角
程度に細かく切つたものを100部とり、これにグ
リセリン0.5部を加え、よく混合した。この混合
物を180℃熱風乾燥器で乾燥したのち振動ミルで
粉砕し、100メツシユ金網でふるい分けして100メ
ツシユ通過物を得た（粉体Ｈ）。 粉体Ｈをそのままステンレス製皿にとり、200
℃熱風乾燥器中で15分間熱処理して比較吸収剤(2)
とした。 粉体Ｈおよび比較吸収剤(2)について実施例１と
同様にして評価した。結果を第１表に示す。
くは、水性物質と接した時に高度に水性物質を吸
収し、しかも加圧下に於いても保水性の大きい吸
収剤に関するものである。 従来、生理綿、紙おむつあるいはその他の体液
を吸収する衛生材料に、一構成材料として吸収性
樹脂を用いる試みがなされている。 この様な吸収性樹脂としては、たとえば、デン
プン―アクリロニトリルグラフト重合体の加水分
解物、デンプン―アクリル酸グラフト重合体の中
和物、酢酸ビニル―アクリル酸エステル共重合体
のケン化物、アクリロニトリル共重合体もしくは
アクリルアミド共重合体の加水分解物、またはこ
れらの架橋体、逆相懸濁重合によつて得られた自
己架橋型ポリアクリル酸ナトリウム、ポリアクリ
ル酸部分中和物架橋体等が知られている。 ところが、これらの従来の吸収性樹脂はいずれ
も綿状パルプや紙に比較して、吸収速度が遅いと
いう致命的な欠陥を有している。そのために、た
とえば紙おむつに従来の吸収性樹脂を組み込んだ
場合、尿が排泄されたのちしばらくは紙おむつの
吸収量が少ないために肌に尿がふれて不快感があ
り、サラツと乾いた状態になるのに時間を要して
いるのが現状である。そこで、吸収速度を速くす
るために種々の試みがなされている。 たとえば、表面積を大きくするために、粒径を
下さくしたり、顆粒状にしたりあるいはリン片状
にしたりする試みがなされている。ところが、一
般に吸収性樹脂の粒径を小さくすると、尿に接し
た場合いわゆる“ママコ”になり、却つて吸収速
度が遅くなる。吸収性樹脂を顆粒状に成型する
と、顆粒状それ自体が一つの“ママコ”になり、
却つて吸収速度が遅くなる現象がみられる。ま
た、吸収性樹脂をリン片状にすると、吸収速度は
かなり改善されるがなお不十分であり、しかもリ
ン片状にするために工程面からの制約があるの
で、平衡吸収量が小さいという欠点がある。さら
に、リン片状では必然的にかさ高くなるので、運
搬、貯蔵に大きな設備が必要となり、経済的でな
い。 本発明者らは、従来知られている吸収性樹脂の
有している上記の如き問題を解決すべく鋭意研究
を重ねた結果、吸収性樹脂粉末に多価アルコール
を混合・熱処理して得られた吸収剤が従来の吸収
性樹脂の有する問題点を解決することを見出して
本発明を完成するに至つた。 従つて、本発明の目的は、吸収速度が大きく、
平衡吸収量も大きな吸収剤を提供することにあ
る。 即ち、本発明の吸収剤はカルボキシル基を有す
る吸収性樹脂粉末に多価アルコールを、吸収性樹
脂100重量部に対して多価アルコールを0.001〜10
重量部の割合で混合し、90℃以上の温度で熱処理
して得られるものである。 本発明において用いられる吸収性樹脂は、カル
ボキシル基を有していることが必要である。この
ような吸収性樹脂としては、デンプン―アクリロ
ニトリルグラフト重合体の加水分解物、デンプン
―アクリル酸グラフト重合体の部分中和物、酢酸
ビニル―アクリル酸エステル共重合体のケン化
物、アクリロニトリル共重合体もしくはアクリル
アミド共重合体の加水分解物、またはこれらの架
橋体、ポリアクリル酸部分中和物、ポリアクリル
酸部分中和物架橋体等の１種又は２種以上を用い
ることができる。また、架橋構造を有しているこ
とが望ましいが、架橋構造を有していないもので
も用いることができる。 このような吸収性樹脂の中で、本発明で好まし
いものとしては、例えば次の第〜項の各項に
示した吸収性樹脂を挙げることができる。 アクリル酸１〜50モル％とアクリル酸アルカ
リ金属塩50〜99モル％とからなるアクリル酸塩
系単量体100重量部と架橋性単量体０〜５重量
部との単量体成分を20重量％以上の濃度で水溶
液共重合してゲル状含水重合体とし、次いで加
熱乾燥して得られたアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩
系重合体。 脂環族および／または脂肪族炭化水素溶媒中
に水溶性ラジカル重合開始剤および必要により
架橋性単量体を含有するアクリル酸および／ま
たはアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩の水溶液を
HLB3〜12の界面活性剤の存在下に分散懸濁重
合させて得た吸収性樹脂。 ビニルエステルとエチレン系不飽和カルボン
酸またはその誘導体との共重合体のケン化物。 デンプンおよび／またはセルロース、カルボ
キシル基を有するかまたは加水分解によりカル
ボキシル基を生成する単量体、および必要によ
り架橋性単量体を、水性媒体中で重合させ、必
要によりさらに加水分解を行うことにより得ら
れた吸収性樹脂。 α―オレフインおよびビニル化合物からなる
群より選ばれた少なくとも１種以上の単量体と
無水マレイン酸とからなる無水マレイン酸系共
重合体にアルカリ性物質を反応させ、必要によ
り得られた反応生成物に多価エポキシ化合物を
反応させて得られた吸収性樹脂。 吸収性樹脂の有するカルボキシル基の量につい
ては、カルボキシル基が存在すれば特に制限はな
いが、吸収性樹脂100ｇ当りカルボキシル基が
0.01当量以上存在することが好ましい。ポリアク
リル酸部分中和物を例にとれば、未中和部分の割
合が１〜50モル％であることが好ましい。 本発明において用いられる吸収性樹脂粉末の形
状は、例えば逆相懸濁重合で得られる球状、ドラ
ム乾燥で得られるリン片状、樹脂塊を粉砕して得
られる無定形状等のいずれでもよい。吸収性樹脂
粉末の粒子の大きさは吸収速度の点からは小さい
ものが好ましく、60メツシユを通過するものの割
合が70重量％以上であることが好ましい。60メツ
シユを通過するものの割合が70重量％以下である
と、吸収速度が小さくなる傾向がある。 本発明において使用される多価アルコールは、
水酸基を１分子当り２個以上持つことが必要であ
る。そのような多価アルコールの中でも特に、ジ
エチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、
ポリエチレングリコール、グリセリン、ポリグリ
セリン、プロピレングリコール、ジエタノールア
ミン、トリエタノールアミン、ポリオキシプロピ
レン、オキシエチレンオキシプロピレンブロツク
共重合体、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、ポリオキ
シエチレンソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、トリメチ
ロールプロパン、ペンタエリスリトールおよびソ
ルビトールからなる群から選ばれた１種又は２種
以上が好ましい。 本発明に用いられる多価アルコールの使用量は
吸収性樹脂100重量部に対して0.001〜10重量部、
好ましくは0.01〜５重量部の範囲の割合である。
この範囲内の量であれば吸収速度の大きな吸収剤
が得られる。しかし、10重量部を超える量では不
経済となるばかりか、吸収性樹脂の割合が少なく
なるので吸収量が少なくなる。逆に0.001重量部
未満の少ない量では熱処理に長時間を要しても吸
収速度の改良が見られない。 本発明において、吸収性樹脂粉末と多価アルコ
ールとの混合には、通常の混合機を用いることが
できる。例えば、Ｖ型混合機、リボン型混合機、
スクリユー型混合機、回転円板型混合機、気流型
混合機等である。 吸収性樹脂粉末と多価アルコールとの混合物の
熱処理には通常の乾燥機や加熱炉を用いることが
できる。例えば、みぞ型かくはん乾燥機、回転乾
燥機、円盤乾燥機、〓和乾燥機、流動層乾燥機、
気流乾燥機、赤外線乾燥機等である。熱処理温度
は90℃以上、好ましくは120℃以上である。90℃
未満では熱処理に長時間を要するので経済的でな
い。 混合及び熱処理に際して、混合機が加熱可能な
ものならば混合機で混合と熱処理を同時に行なつ
てもよい。また、熱処理機が撹拌可能なものなら
ば、熱処理機で混合を行なうと同時に熱処理を行
なつてもよい。 このようにして得られた本発明の吸収剤は、従
来公知の吸収性樹脂に比較して優れた性能を有し
ているものである。すなわち、本発明の吸収剤は
吸収性樹脂を多価アルコールと混合・熱処理とい
う工業的に簡単な方法によつて得られるものであ
る。そして、従来公知の吸収性樹脂に比較してマ
マコになりにくく大きな吸収速度を有している。
また、吸湿時の粉体のケーキ化が起こりにくいと
いう予期し得なかつた効果も有している。 本発明の吸収剤は、紙おむつ、生理綿等用の吸
収剤として用いることができる他に、汚泥の凝
固、建材の結露防止、農園芸用保水剤あるいは乾
燥剤等として広い用途に用いることができる。 以下、実施例により本発明を詳細に説明する
が、本発明の範囲がこれらの実施例にのみ限定さ
れるものではない。尚、例中特にことわりのない
限り、％は重量％を、部は重量部をそれぞれ示す
ものとする。 実施例 １ アクリル酸ナトリウム74.95モル％、アクリル
酸25モル％及びトリメチロールプロパントリアク
リレート0.05モル％からなるアクリル酸塩系単量
体の43％水溶液4000部を、過硫酸アンモニウム
0.6部及び亜硫酸水素ナトリウム0.2部を用いて窒
素雰囲気中55〜80℃で静置重合し、ゲル状含水重
合体を得た。このゲル状含水重合体を180℃の熱
風乾燥器で乾燥後、振動式粉砕機で粉砕し、100
メツシユ通過物（粉体Ａ）及び60メツシユ通過物
（粉体Ｂ）を各々分取した。 粉体A100部にグリセリン0.3部を加えてスクリ
ユー型混合機により混合し、得られた混合物を円
盤乾燥機により熱処理を行なつた。すなわち、
220℃の熱媒で加熱した円盤上に上記混合物を厚
さ１cmになるようにのせ、スクレーパーで撹拌し
ながら15分間加熱して吸収剤(1)を得た。同様にし
て粉体Ｂを熱処理して吸収剤(2)を得た。 得られた吸収剤のそれぞれ0.2ｇを不織布製の
テイーバツグ式袋（40mm×150mm）に均一に入
れ、0.9％食塩水に浸漬し、30秒後および10分後
の重量を測定した。テイーバツグ式袋のみの吸収
重量をブランクとし、次式に従つて吸収剤の膨潤
倍率を算出した。 膨潤倍率＝吸収後の重量（ｇ）−ブランク（ｇ）／粉体
の重量（ｇ） また、ママコ生成の有無を、水で湿らせた紙の
上に少量の吸収剤をおとした時の様子を観察する
ことにより行なつた。 第１表に結果を示すが、粉体ＡおよびＢに比べ
吸収剤(1)および(2)は吸収速度が著しく改善されて
いる。 実施例 ２ 実施例１で得た粉体Ａを用いて実施例１におけ
るグリセリンを以下に記す多価アルコールにおき
かえた以外は実施例１と同様にして吸収剤(3)〜(10)
を得た。すなわち、ポリエチレングリコール300
（吸収剤(3)）、ポリエチレングリコール400（吸収
剤(4)）、ポリエチレングリコール600（吸収剤
(5)）、トリエタノールアミン（吸収剤(6)）、ソルビ
タンモノラウレート（吸収剤(7)）、ポリオキシエ
チレンソルビタンモノステアレート（吸収剤
(8)）、トリメチロールプロパン（吸収剤(9)）、ソル
ビトール（吸収剤(10)）をそれぞれ用いた。 吸収剤(3)〜(10)について、実施例１と同様に評価
した。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ３ トウモロコシデンプン50部、水200部およびメ
タノール1000部を撹拌棒、窒素吹き込み管および
温度計を備え付けた反応容器に仕込み、窒素気流
下50℃で１時間撹拌したのち30℃に冷却し、25部
のアクリル酸、75部のアクリル酸ソーダ、0.5部
のメチレンビスアクリルアミド、重合触媒として
0.1部の過硫酸アンモンおよび促進剤として0.1部
の亜硫酸水素ナトリウムを添加し、60℃で４時間
反応せしめたところ、白色懸濁液が得られた。 この白色懸濁液を過して得られた粉末を水―
メタノール混合溶液（水対メタノールは重量比で
２：10）で洗浄し、60℃、３時間減圧乾燥したの
ち粉砕し、さらに100メツシユ金網でふるい分け
して100メツシユ通過物を得た（粉体Ｃ）。 粉体C100部に、グリセリン１部を加え、回転
円板型混合機により混合し、得られた混合物を流
動層乾燥機中で200℃の熱風により10分間熱処理
を行なつて吸収剤(11)を得た。吸収剤(11)について実
施例１と同様に評価した。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ４ 酢酸ビニル60部とアクリル酸メチル40部からな
る混合物に重合開始剤としてベンゾイルパーオキ
サイド0.5部を加えこれを部分ケン化ポリビニル
アルコール３部と食塩10部とを含む水300部中に
分散せしめ、65℃で６時間懸濁重合せしめたの
ち、過、乾燥して共重合体を得た。得られた共
重合体をケン化、洗滌、乾燥したものを粉砕、分
級して、60メツシユを通過した粉体Ｄを得た。 粉体D100部にトリメチロールプロパン１部を
加え、ジヤケツトを熱媒で230℃に加熱したリボ
ンブレンダーに投入し、15分間混合することによ
り、混合および熱処理を行ない吸収剤(12)を得た。
吸収剤(12)について実施例１と同様に評価した。結
果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ５ 反応器にｎ―ヘキサン300部をとり、ソルビタ
ンモノステアレート0.7部を溶解した。次いでこ
の中にアクリル酸30部を水40部に溶解したのち
12.5部のカセイソーダで中和し、更に過硫酸カリ
ウム0.05部を溶解したモノマー水溶液を加えて分
散させ、窒素気流下65℃に保つて５時間重合を行
なつた。重合終了後、減圧乾燥して粉体Ｅを得
た。 粉体E100部に、ポリエチレングリコール300を
１部加え、Ｖ型混合機により混合を行なつた。得
られた混合物をベルトコンベヤーにうすくのせ、
赤外線乾燥機中を通過させて熱処理を行ない、吸
収剤（13）を得た。平均加熱時間は４分間で、乾
燥機出口での材料温度は230℃であつた。 吸収剤（13）について実施例１と同様に評価し
た。結果を第１表に示す。 実施例 ６ イソブチレン―無水マレイン酸共重合体154
部、カセイソーダ64部および水398部を混合し、
90℃で２時間加熱撹拌して均一な水溶液を調整し
た。次いでこの水溶液にグリセリンジグリシジル
エーテル2.5部を添加し、混合後バツトへ流し込
み、110℃の熱風乾燥器中で架橋反応をおこさし
め、乾燥後粉砕、分級して60メツシユパスの粉体
Ｆを得た。 220℃の熱媒により加熱されたパドルドライヤ
ーに粉体Ｆおよびポリエチレングリコール400
を、粉体F100部に対してポリエチレングリコー
ル400を0.5部の割合でそれぞれ定量的に連続供給
して混合および熱処理を行ない、吸収剤（14）を
得た。パドルドライヤー内の平均滞留時間は10分
であつた。 吸収剤（14）について実施例１と同様に評価し
た。結果を第１表に示す。 比較例 １ 実施例１において、アクリル酸塩系単量体水溶
液にグリセリン２部を加える他は実施例１と同様
にして重合、乾燥、粉砕を行なつた。得られた粉
体の100メツシユ通過物をとり（粉体Ｇ）ステン
レス製皿にのせ、200℃熱風乾燥器中で15分間熱
処理して比較吸収剤(1)とした。 粉体Ｇおよび比較吸収剤(1)について実施例１と
同様にして評価した。結果を第１表に示す。 比較例 ２ 実施例１で得られたゲル状含水重合体を３mm角
程度に細かく切つたものを100部とり、これにグ
リセリン0.5部を加え、よく混合した。この混合
物を180℃熱風乾燥器で乾燥したのち振動ミルで
粉砕し、100メツシユ金網でふるい分けして100メ
ツシユ通過物を得た（粉体Ｈ）。 粉体Ｈをそのままステンレス製皿にとり、200
℃熱風乾燥器中で15分間熱処理して比較吸収剤(2)
とした。 粉体Ｈおよび比較吸収剤(2)について実施例１と
同様にして評価した。結果を第１表に示す。

第１表に示した結果からも明らかなように、本
発明の吸収剤はママコにならず、且つ大きな吸収
速度を有している。比較例１および２におけるよ
うに、多価アルコールを単量体水溶液に加えたり
あるいは粉体粒子に比べて大きなゲル状含水重合
体に加えても、逆効果になつたり効果が小さかつ
たりする。

第１表に示した結果からも明らかなように、本
発明の吸収剤はママコにならず、且つ大きな吸収
速度を有している。比較例１および２におけるよ
うに、多価アルコールを単量体水溶液に加えたり
あるいは粉体粒子に比べて大きなゲル状含水重合
体に加えても、逆効果になつたり効果が小さかつ
たりする。
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 １ カルボキシル基を有する吸収性樹脂粉末に多
価アルコールを、吸収性樹脂100重量部に対して
多価アルコールを0.001〜10重量部の割合で混合
し、90℃以上の温度で熱処理して得られた吸収
剤。 ２ カルボキシル基を有する吸収性樹脂が、アク
リル酸１〜50モル％とアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩
50〜99モル％とからなるアクリル酸塩系単量体
100重量部と架橋性単量体０〜５重量部との単量
体成分を20重量％以上の濃度で水溶液共重合して
ゲル状含水重合体とし、次いで加熱乾燥して得ら
れたアクリル酸アルカリ金属塩系重合体である特
許請求の範囲第１項記載の吸収剤。 ３ 粉末が60メツシユを通過するものの割合が70
重量％以上の粉末である特許請求の範囲第１項記
載の吸収剤。
