Abstract

PURPOSE: To safely discharge the residual LPG from a system by a method wherein residual LPG in a piping is extracted from the piping, then evaporated, and incinerated at a burner, in a system for transporting LPG as a liquid and burning it.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid LPG coming out of an LPG storage tank 1 is fed under pressure to a burner 9 by a pump 3, and sprayed and burnt. The combustion is stopped by fully colsing an inlet valve 8, when LPG is left in pipes 2, 12. For treating the residual LPG, first an N2 purge valve 20 is fully closed and valves 11, 13, 4 are fully closed. Then an N2 purge valve 19 and a vent valve 14 are opened, and N2 gas is fed under pressure from a pipe 18 into the pipe 2. By this, the residual LPG is flowed through a valve 7 and pipes 12, 15 into an evaporator 21, where it is heated by hot water 31 to evaporate. The evaporated LPG is fed to a burner 26 through a superheater 24, and incinerated.
