Description
ケン化度が65〜98モル%であるカルボニル基を含有するポリビニルアルコール系樹脂を押出機に供給し、押出機内において該樹脂を樹脂温度190〜220℃で溶融混練することからなるビニル系単量体の懸濁重合用分散剤の製造方法に関する。
〔η〕=(OH,OR)/2(OH)(OR)
(ただし、(OH,OR)、(OH)、(OR)は、いずれもモル分率で計算するものとする。また、(OH)は13C−NMRの積分比により算出されるケン化度(モル分率)であり、たとえば脂肪酸ビニルとして酢酸ビニルが使用された場合は、(OR)はその時のアセトキシ基のモル分率を示す。)ブロックキャラクターは、ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂中の脂肪酸エステル単位の平均連鎖長の程度を示すものであり、値が大きいほど、残存する脂肪酸エステルブロックの平均連鎖長が短いこと(脂肪酸エステル単位のランダム性が高いこと)を示す。ブロックキャラクターおよびその測定方法に関しては、ポバール(発行所:高分子刊行会、1984)およびMacromolecules,10,532(1977)に詳述されている。
(ポリビニルアルコール系分散剤の製造)
酢酸ビニル100重量部、アセトアルデヒド1.2重量部、メタノール4.7重量部および酢酸ビニルに対して0.0092重量%のアセチルパーオキサイド(APO)を重合缶に仕込み、窒素置換後加熱して沸点下で重合を開始し、反応時間約5.7時間後に重合率91.8重量%に達した時点で重合を停止した。ついで、未重合の酢酸ビニルを除去し、得られた重合体のメタノール溶液(40重量%溶液)に、重合体酢酸ビニルユニット1モルに対して、7.4ミリモルの水酸化ナトリウムをメタノール溶液で加え、35℃で2時間かけて、常法によりケン化して樹脂分12重量%のPVA系樹脂(重合度770、ケン化度71.7モル%、カルボニル基量0.16モル%)のスラリーを調製した。
2軸押出機(テクノベル(株)製 KZW15、L/D=60、Φ=15、フルフライト、同方向回転)にて、樹脂温度が設定温度になるようにし、押出熱処理を行なった。
温度設定:C1/C2/C3/C4/C5/C6/C7/C8/D3=90/150/185/185/190/195/195/195/195℃

軟質オレフィン用ペレタイザーTSS−100(株式会社タナカ製)を使用し、厚さ1〜2mm×長さ1〜2mmのミニペレットを作成した。
JIS K 6726に準拠して測定した。
13C−NMRで測定し(内部標準物質として3−(トリメチルシリル)−2,2,3,3−d4−プロピオン酸ナトリウム塩(3−(trimethylsilyl)propionic−2,2,3,3−d4acid sodium salt)を使用)、38〜49ppmの範囲に見られるメチレン炭素部分に基づ吸収〔(OH,OH)dyadの吸収=43.5〜46ppm、(OH,OR)dyadの吸収=41〜43.5ppm、(OR,OR)dyadの吸収=38〜40.5ppm、ただし、実施例において、Rはアセチル基(CH3CO−)を表わす〕の吸収強度比から求められるもので、より具体的には下記式より算出される値である。

(ただし、(OH,OR)、(OH)、(OR)は、いずれもモル分率で計算するものとする。また、(OH)は13C−NMRの積分比により算出されるケン化度(モル分率)で、(OR)はその時のアセトキシ基のモル分率を示す。)
三角フラスコにPVA系樹脂5.0gおよびイオン交換水120gを入れて、室温下で30分撹拌し、さらに80℃で1時間撹拌を繰り返した後、20℃まで液温を下げて重量既知の化学分析用濾紙(Ag)で全量を吸引濾過する。さらに水50gで三角フラスコを洗浄して吸引濾過する操作を3回繰り返し、さらにイオン交換水3Lで吸引濾過を行なった後、該濾紙を105℃で3時間乾燥させて重量(Bg)を測定して、下式により溶解率(%)を算出して、溶解率が99.995以上を○、溶解率が99.995未満を×として、溶解性を調べた。
溶解率(%)=100−[(B−A)/5.0×100]
紫外可視近赤外分光光度計(日本分光(株)製V−560)を用いて、波長215nm、280nm、320nmにおいて、ポリビニルアルコール系分散剤の0.1重量%水溶液の吸光度を測定した。なお、厚さ1cmの試料容器(セル)を用いた。
内容積2000Lのリフラックスコンデンサー付き重合槽に、実施例1で得られたポリビニルアルコール系分散剤を450g、ジ−2−エチルヘキシルパーオキシジカーボネート260g、脱イオン水900kg、塩化ビニルモノマー600kgを仕込み撹拌しながら、ジャケットに熱水を通して57℃まで昇温し、重合を開始した。重合開始時の重合槽内の圧力は、7.0kg/cm2Gであった。重合槽内の圧力が6.0kg/cm2Gに低下したところで、未反応モノマーを回収し、重合体スラリーを器外に取り出し、脱水、乾燥を行なって、塩化ビニル樹脂を得た。重合槽内のドライフォームの発生状態および得られた塩化ビニル樹脂について、下記の評価を行なった。評価結果を表4に示す。
重合槽内のドライフォームの発生状態を、リフラックスコンデンサーへのスケールの付着状態を観察することで評価した。評価基準は下記の通りである。
○・・・スケールの付着が見られなかった。
△・・・スケールの付着が少量見られた。
×・・・スケールの付着が多量に見られた。
塩化ビニル樹脂10kgを、JISZ−8801に準じた48メッシュのふるいを用いてふるい分け、そのふるいの上の残量を測定し、その割合を求めた。
JIS K−6721に準じて測定を行なった。
以下のA、Bの2種の評価を行なった。
得られた塩化ビニル樹脂粒子100重量部、トリス(2−エチルヘキシル)トリメリテート50重量部、鉛系粉末安定剤3重量部を155℃で5分間ロール練りして0.3mm厚のシートを作製し25cm2当たりの3分後、4分後、5分後、7分後のフィッシュアイの数を測定した。
得られた塩化ビニル樹脂粒子100重量部、DOP(フタル酸ジ−2−エチル−ヘキシル)50重量部、ジオクチル錫ジラウレート3重量部、およびステアリン酸亜鉛1重量部、ステアリルアルコール0.5重量部を用いて、上記Aと同様に評価した。
重合時のアセトアルデヒド、メタノールおよびAPOの添加量を表1に示すように変更したこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして、表1に示す重合率まで重合、ついでケン化を行ない、得られた表2に示す特性を有するPVA系樹脂を表2に示す熱処理条件で実施例1と同様にして押出熱処理してポリビニルアルコール系分散剤を得た。得られた分散剤を実施例1と同様に評価した。
熱処理工程を、押出熱処理ではなく、熱処理缶にて粉末状で150℃5時間行なった以外は実施例1と同様にしてポリビニルアルコール系分散剤を得た。結果を表3〜4に示す。
Claims (6)
- 1〜3価の金属の酢酸塩またはプロピオン酸塩および1〜3価の金属の水酸化物よりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含有する、ケン化度が65〜98モル%であり、カルボニル基含有量が0.05〜0.5モル%であるカルボニル基含有ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂を、190〜220℃で溶融押出して得られ、かつ分子内にカルボニル基を有し、残存脂肪酸エステル基のブロックキャラクターが0.55以上であるポリビニルアルコール系樹脂であって、ポリビニルアルコール樹脂の0.1重量%水溶液の紫外線吸収スペクトルによる215nm、280nm、320nmのそれぞれの吸光度が0.1以上であり、320nmの吸光度/280nmの吸光度の比が0.3以上であるポリビニルアルコール系樹脂からなるビニル系単量体の懸濁重合用ポリビニルアルコール系分散剤。
- ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂の0.1重量%水溶液の紫外線吸収スペクトルにおいて、215nm、280nm、320nmのそれぞれの吸光度が0.2以上である請求項1記載のポリビニルアルコール系分散剤。
- 1〜3価の金属が、ナトリウム、マグネシウム、亜鉛およびアルミニウムよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種である請求項2記載のポリビニルアルコール系分散剤。
- 1〜3価の金属の酢酸塩またはプロピオン酸塩および1〜3価の金属の水酸化物よりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含有する、ケン化度が65〜98モル%であり、カルボニル基含有量が0.05〜0.5モル%であるカルボニル基含有ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂を押出機に供給し、押出機内において該樹脂を樹脂温度190〜220℃で溶融混練することからなる請求項1記載のビニル系単量体の懸濁重合用ポリビニルアルコール系分散剤の製造方法。
- 溶融混練を1〜15分行う請求項4記載の製造方法。
- ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂が、ケン化度が65〜82モル%の部分ケン化ポリ酢酸ビニルである請求項4記載の製造方法。
