Abstract

Un procedimiento para la preparación de citalopram de fórmula en el que un compuesto de fórmula II en donde Z es yodo, bromo, cloro o CF3-(CF2)n-S02-0-, siendo n 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 u 8, se somete a una reacción de intercambio con cianuro, en el que el grupo Z se intercambia con cianuro mediante la reacción con una fuente de cianuro; el producto de citalopram bruto resultante se somete, opcionalmente, a una cierta purificación inicial, y la base de citalopram bruta se somete, subsiguientemente, a un proceso de destilación en película; el producto de citalopram resultante se purifica entonces, opcionalmente, de forma adicional y se elabora y aísla en forma de la base o una sal farmacéuticamente aceptable del mismo.
