Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a una variante aislada de polipéptido, caracterizada porque tiene actividad de a-amilasa y por lo menos una característica alterada que mejora el desempeño de la enzima, en donde la característica alterada se selecciona del grupo que consiste de reducción incrementada de la viscosidad, actividad amilolítica incrementada, termoestabilidad incrementada, estabilidad incrementada ante el pH, y remoción incrementada de machas, caracterizada porque comprende: i) un polipéptido que tiene una secuencia de aminoácidos por lo menos 90% idéntica a la SEQ ID NO: 1 y una modificación en una o más posiciones que se seleccionan del grupo que consiste de 9, 68, 88, 126, 139, 158, 192, 214 y 257 de la secuencia de aminoácidos de la SEQ ID NO: 1; o ii) un polipéptido que tiene una secuencia de aminoácidos por lo menos 92% idéntica a la SEQ ID NO: 2, y una modificación en una o más posiciones que se seleccionan del grupo que consiste de 9, 68, 88, 126, 139,158, 192, 214 y 257 de la secuencia de aminoácidos de la SEQ ID NO: 2, en donde la modificación produce una variante de polipéptido que tiene un índice de desempeño (PI) mayor de 1.0 para al menos una característica alterada que mejora el desempeño de la enzima.
