Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a métodos para producir productos industriales de lípidos vegetales, particularmente de partes vegetativas de las plantas. En particular, la presente invención proporciona productos de aceite tales como biodiésel y diésel sintético y procesos para producir los mismos, así como plantas que tienen un nivel incrementado de uno o más lípidos no polares tales como triacilgliceroles y un contenido de lípidos no polares total incrementado. En una modalidad particular, la presente invención se refiere a combinaciones de modificaciones en dos o más enzimas que manejan lípidos, proteínas de cuerpo de aceite, enzimas catabólicas de lípidos disminuidas y/o factores de transcripción que regulan la biosíntesis de lípidos para incrementar el nivel de uno o más lípidos no polares y/o el contenido de lípidos no polares totales y/o un contenido de ácidos grasos monoinsaturados en las plantas o cualquier parte de las mismas. En una modalidad, la presente invención se refiere a un proceso para extraer lípidos. En otra modalidad, el lípido se convierte a uno o más productos de hidrocarburo en las partes vegetativas de la planta recolectadas para producir ésteres de alquilo, de los ácidos grasos que son adecuados para el uso como un combustible biodiésel renovable.
