Description
本出願は、2006年1月18日出願の、「Method and System for Charging an Electronic Device via a Wireless Link」と題された、米国仮特許出願第60/760,064号に基づく優先権を主張する、2006年4月21日に出願された本出願と同題の米国実用新案出願第11/408,793号に基づく優先権を主張するものであり、前述のそれぞれは、参照することによりその全体が本願に組み込まれる。
一態様において、無線周波数リンクを介して充電式デバイスに電力を提供するように構成されるシステムを提供する。当該システムは、充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するための、実質的に変調されていない信号を生成するように構成される送信機を備える。当該システムは、送信機から実質的に変調されていない信号を受信し、実質的に変調されていない無線周波数(RF)信号を充電式デバイスに放射するように構成される送信アンテナをさらに備える。
以下の詳細な説明は、本発明の一部の特定の実施形態を対象とするものである。しかしながら、本発明は、特許請求の範囲によって定義および網羅されているように、多数の異なる手法で具現化され得る。本説明においては図面を参照し、全図面中、類似の部分には類似の数字が指定されている。
14 電子デバイス
Claims (22)
- 無線周波数リンクを介して充電式デバイスに電力を提供するように構成されたシステムであって、
前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するための変調されていない第1の信号を生成するように構成された第1の送信機と、
前記第1の送信機から前記第1の信号を受信し、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第1の無線周波数(RF)信号を生成するように構成された第1の送信アンテナと、
前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するための変調されていない第2の信号を生成するように構成された第2の送信機と、
前記第2の送信機から前記第2の信号を受信し、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第2の無線周波数(RF)信号を生成するように構成された第2の送信アンテナと、
前記充電式デバイスによって送信されたフィードバック信号であって、前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号からの前記充電式デバイスの充電受信アンテナにおける電力の強度を示すフィードバック信号に基づき前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号間との位相差を調整するように構成されたコントローラと、
を含み、
前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は情報信号を含んでおらず、
前記第1の送信アンテナから送信された前記第1のRF信号の偏波方向および前記第2の送信アンテナから送信された前記第2のRF信号の偏波方向は、最大電力伝送を実現するために前記充電受信アンテナの偏波方向に一致するように調整されることを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記第1の送信アンテナおよび前記第2の送信アンテナは、前記充電受信アンテナで集束するように前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号を向けるように構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の位相差が前記充電受信アンテナの位置で0度になるように、前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の前記位相差を調整するように構成されたコントローラをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の送信アンテナは、第1の指向性アンテナを含み、前記第2の送信アンテナは、第2の指向性アンテナを含み、前記第1の指向性アンテナおよび前記第2の指向性アンテナは各々、指向性経路を介して前記充電式デバイスに前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号を生成するように構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、単一の周波数信号に基づいていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、単一の周波数信号からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、正弦波を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、搬送信号を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記充電式デバイスは、メディアプレーヤー、携帯情報端末、携帯コンピュータ、携帯電話、セルラ式携帯電話、時計、および電子ディスプレイのうち少なくとも1つの携帯デバイスであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の送信アンテナから送信された前記第1のRF信号および前記第2の送信アンテナから送信された前記第2のRF信号の電界成分の配向は各々、前記充電受信アンテナの偏波方向に一致することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 無線周波数リンクを介して充電式デバイスに電力を提供する方法であって、
変調されていない第1の信号を生成するステップと、
前記第1の信号に基づき第1の送信アンテナを介して、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第1の無線周波数(RF)信号を放射するステップと、
変調されていない第2の信号を生成するステップと、
前記第2の信号に基づき第2の送信アンテナを介して、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第2の無線周波数(RF)信号を放射するステップと、
前記充電式デバイスによって送信されたフィードバック信号であって、前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号からの前記充電式デバイスの充電受信アンテナにおける電力の強度を示すフィードバック信号に基づき前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の位相差を調整するステップと、
最大電力伝送を実現するために前記充電式デバイスの前記充電受信アンテナの偏波方向に一致するように、前記第1の送信アンテナおよび前記第2の送信アンテナの各々の偏波方向を調整するステップと、
を含み、
前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は情報信号を含んでいないことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記第1の送信アンテナおよび前記第2の送信アンテナは、前記充電受信アンテナで集束するように前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号を向けるように構成されることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の位相差が前記充電受信アンテナの位置で0度になるように前記第1のRF信号とおよび前記第2のRF信号との間の前記位相差を調整するように構成されたコントローラをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の送信アンテナおよび前記第2の送信アンテナは各々、指向性経路を介して前記充電式デバイスに前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号を生成するように構成された指向性アンテナを含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、正弦波を含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、単一の周波数信号からなることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は各々、搬送信号を含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号によって送られた前記電力で前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
- 無線周波数リンクを介して充電式デバイスに電力を提供するためのシステムであって、
変調されていない第1の信号を生成するための第1生成手段と、
前記変調されていない第1の信号に基づき、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第1の無線周波数(RF)信号を放射するための第1放射手段と、
変調されていない第2の信号を生成するための第2生成手段と、
前記変調されていない第2の信号に基づき、前記充電式デバイスに電力供給または充電するのに十分な変調されていない第2の無線周波数(RF)信号を放射するための第2放射手段と、
前記充電式デバイスによって送信されたフィードバック信号であって、前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号からの前記充電式デバイスの充電受信アンテナにおける電力の強度を示すフィードバック信号に基づき前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の位相差を調整するための位相差調整手段と、
最大電力伝送を実現するために前記充電受信アンテナの偏波方向に一致するように、前記第1放射手段および前記第2放射手段の各々の偏波方向を調整するための偏波方向調整手段と、
を含み、
前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号は信号情報を含んでいないことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記第1放射手段および前記第2放射手段は、前記充電受信アンテナで集束するように前記第1のRF信号および前記第2のRF信号を向けるように構成されることを特徴とする請求項19に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の位相差が前記充電受信アンテナの位置で0度になるように、前記第1のRF信号と前記第2のRF信号との間の前記位相差を調整するための手段をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項19に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1生成手段および第2生成手段は各々、電源を含み、放射するための前記第1放射手段および前記第2放射手段は各々、送信アンテナを含み、前記偏波方向調整手段は、コントローラを含むことを特徴とする請求項19に記載のシステム。
