Description
本発明は、長尺状医療器具構造およびアセンブリの代替の設計、材料、および製造方法を提供する。
本発明の一実施形態は、医療器具であって、長尺状シャフトと、前記長尺状シャフトに結合される第1コイル部材と、前記第1コイル部材に結合される第2コイル部材であって、同第2コイル部材は、直接的には前記長尺状シャフトに結合されていないことと、前記第1コイル部材は外側に位置するコイルであり、前記第2コイル部材は内側に位置するコイルであることと、前記第2コイル部材が、前記第1コイル部材以外には、直接的には前記医療器具の他の構造に結合されていないことと、前記第2コイル部材は基端部および先端部を備え、同先端部が第1コイルに結合されないように前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材に結合されることとを備える医療器具を提供する。
本発明の別の実施形態は、医療器具用コイル構造であって、前記医療器具と結合可能に構成される第1コイル部材と、前記第1コイル部材に結合される第2コイル部材とを備えることと、前記第1コイル部材は外側に位置するコイルであり、前記第2コイル部材は内側に位置するコイルであることと、前記第2コイル部材が、前記第1コイル部材以外には、直接的には前記医療器具の他の構造に結合されていないことと、前記第2コイル部材が基端部および先端部を備え、同先端部が第1コイルに結合されないように前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材に結合されることとからなるコイル構造を提供する。
本発明は、様々な変更したまたは代替の態様とすることができるが、その詳細は図面に例示されており、以下に詳述する。しかしながら、本発明は、記載された特定の実施例に限定されるものではなく、その趣旨及び範囲内に含まれる全ての変更物や均等物や代替物を包含するものである。
(実施例の詳細な説明)
以下に定義する用語については、請求項または本明細書のいずれかの個所に異なる定義がある場合を除き、以下の定義が適用されるものとする。
指標となる数値範囲を記載する場合、当該範囲のすべての数値を含むものとする。(例えば、1〜5の場合、1,1.5,2,2.75,3,3.80,4,5を含む。)
本明細書および添付の特許請求の範囲に使用される場合において、「または」という語は、内容が明らかにそうではないものを示さない限りは、および/またはという意味で用いられる。
基端部分14の先端24と先端部分16の基端26(すなわち結合された端部)は、結合部12を形成していてもよい。異なるシャフト部分を相互に結合させるために用いられる方法および構造のいくつかは、米国特許出願第09/972,276号および同第10/086,992号明細書に開示されている。これら米国特許出願明細書は、その内容が本明細書に開示されたものとする。
実施例によっては、リボン58は、幅約0.002〜0.008インチ(約0.051〜0.203mm)、厚さ約0.0005〜0.003インチ(約0.013〜0.076mm)、長さ約0.25〜3インチ(約0.635〜7.62cm)の平板状リボンである。実施例によっては、リボン58は、約0.25〜2インチ(約0.635〜5.08cm)の長さにわたって先端部分16と重なり合い、先端部分16よりもさらに先端側へ0.1〜2インチ(約0.254〜5.08cm)延びる先端部を備える。
上述した結合技術は、単に例として示されるものであり、他の好適な結合技術または構造を用いることもできる。さらに、上述した結合技術を、ガイドワイヤの長さに沿った他の位置において用いたり、ガイドワイヤの他の構成要素を互いに結合させるために用いてもよい。例えば、結合またはセンタリングリング65等のリングを用いて、コイル、リボン、網目体、ワイヤ等や他の同様の構造をガイドワイヤ基端部分14またはガイドワイヤ先端部分16と結合させてもよい。さらには、(例えばレーザエネルギーを熱源として用いて)ハンダ付け技術またはロウ付け技術により、別の構造をガイドワイヤ基端部分14またはガイドワイヤ先端部分16と結合させてもよい。
Claims (21)
- 医療器具であって、
長尺状シャフトと、
前記長尺状シャフトに結合される第1コイル部材と、
前記第1コイル部材に結合される第2コイル部材であって、同第2コイル部材は、直接的には前記長尺状シャフトに結合されていないことと、
前記第1コイル部材は外側に位置するコイルであり、前記第2コイル部材は内側に位置するコイルであることと、
前記第2コイル部材が、前記第1コイル部材以外には、直接的には前記医療器具の他の構造に結合されていないことと、
前記第2コイル部材は基端部および先端部を備え、同先端部が第1コイルに結合されないように前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材に結合されることと
を備える医療器具。 - 前記長尺状シャフトが基端および先端を備え、前記第1コイル部材が、前記シャフトの先端を越えて先端側へ延びるように前記長尺状シャフトに結合される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前前記第1コイルが第1の材料で形成され、前記第2コイルが第2の材料で形成され、前記第2の材料は、前記第1の材料よりも高い放射線不透過性を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第1および第2コイル部材は、共通のコイル状フィラメントで構成される、請求項1又は2に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材は、レーザ溶接により前記第1コイル部材に結合される、請求項1乃至4のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材は、ハンダ付けまたはロウ付けにより前記第1コイル部材に結合され、ハンダ材料またはロウ付け材料は、レーザエネルギーを用いて加熱される、請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第1コイル部材が管腔を形成し、前記第2コイル部材の少なくとも一部が、前記第1コイル部材の管腔内に配置される、請求項1乃至6のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記長尺状シャフトが第1の外径を有する基端領域と、前記第1の外径よりも小さい第2の外径を有する先端領域とを備えることと、
前記第1コイル部材は、前記基端領域において前記長尺状シャフトに結合されるとともに、前記基端領域から前記先端領域にわたって延びることと、前記第1コイル部材は前記第2の外径よりも大きな内径を有することと、
前記第2のコイル部材は、前記先端領域の周囲に配置されるとともに、前記第1コイル部材内部を延びて、同第1コイル部材に結合されることと
からなる請求項1乃至7のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。 - 前記医療器具がガイドワイヤである請求項1乃至8のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記長尺状シャフトが充実体のコアワイヤからなる請求項1乃至9のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第1および第2コイル部材の間に配置されるとともにこれらに結合される結合部材をさらに備える、請求項1乃至10のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記結合部材が前記第1および第2コイル部材の間に配置される結合リングである請求項11に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材は、外周に形成された結合領域を介して前記第1コイルに結合される、請求項1乃至12のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材は、第1の結合点を介して前記第1コイルに結合され、前記結合点は外周以外に形成される、請求項1乃至13のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第1コイル部材が、第1の径を有する第1領域と、前記第1の径よりも小さい第2の径を有する第2領域とを有する、請求項1乃至14のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材は、同第2コイル部材の基端において前記第1コイル部材に結合される、請求項1乃至15のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイル部材が、前記第1コイル部材に結合されない端部を有する、請求項1乃至16のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第2コイルが、前記第1コイル部材内に摺動して配置される端部を有する、請求項1乃至17のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 前記第1コイル部材がMP35−Nまたはニッケル−チタン合金からなり、前記第2コイル部材が放射線不透過性材料からなる、請求項1乃至18のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具。
- 第1コイル部材および第2コイル部材を提供する工程と、
前記第2コイル部材を前記第1コイル部材と結合させる工程であって、第2コイルの先端部が第1コイルに結合されないように前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材に結合される、工程と、
前記長尺状シャフトを提供する工程と、
前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材以外には直接的には前記医療器具の他の構造に結合されないように、前記第1コイル部材を前記長尺状シャフトと結合させる工程と
を含む請求項1乃至19のうちいずれか一項に記載の医療器具の製造方法。 - 医療器具用コイル構造であって、
前記医療器具と結合可能に構成される第1コイル部材と、前記第1コイル部材に結合される第2コイル部材とを備えることと、
前記第1コイル部材は外側に位置するコイルであり、前記第2コイル部材は内側に位置するコイルであることと、
前記第2コイル部材が、前記第1コイル部材以外には、直接的には前記医療器具の他の構造に結合されていないことと、
前記第2コイル部材が基端部および先端部を備え、同先端部が第1コイルに結合されないように前記第2コイル部材が前記第1コイル部材に結合されることと
からなるコイル構造。
