Abstract
Description
PTFE充填材料などの充填ポリマーは極めて望ましい特徴をしばしば有しているが、それらを、典型的な加熱溶接プロセスで用いるのは困難であり得る。特に、PTFE充填ポリマーなど充填ポリマーの溶接部分は、未充填ポリマーと比べて、低い破断伸びをしばしば示すだろう。このことにより、少なくとも3%の破断伸びが望ましいとされる大口径シールリング、バックアップリング、または他の密封装置などの用途には、そのようなPTFE充填材料はあまり好適でない。
Claims (45)
- シールリングの形成方法であって、
少なくとも第1ポリマーの縦層と第2ポリマーの縦層とから熱可塑性ロッドを形成する工程であって、該押出ロッドが第1末端および第2末端を有する、工程、
前記第1ポリマーおよび第2ポリマーのガラス転移温度より高い第1温度に前記熱可塑性ロッドを加熱する工程、
温度を少なくとも第1温度に維持しながら、前記熱可塑性ロッドを環状構造に曲げる工程、
前記押出ロッドの第1末端および第2末端を、前記第1ポリマーおよび第2ポリマーの融点より高い温度まで加熱する工程、ならびに
前記押出ロッドの、加熱された第1末端と第2末端とを接合して、前記末端同士を結合する溶接部を形成する工程であって、溶接した第2ポリマーは溶接した第1ポリマーの第1機械的特性よりも望ましい第1機械的特性を少なくとも有し、その結果、前記押出ロッドの末端同士を結合する前記溶接部の第1機械的特性もまた、前記溶接した第1ポリマーの第1機械的特性よりも望ましい、工程、

一のポリマー層がPTFE充填PEEKを含み、一のポリマー層が未充填PEEKを含む、環状シールリング。 - 少なくとも3%の溶接部破断伸びを有する、請求項27〜30のいずれか1項に記載のシールリング。
- 前記シールリングが、少なくとも0.62メートルの外周を有する、請求項27〜31のいずれか1項に記載のシールリング。
- 前記シールリングが、少なくとも0.2メートルの直径を有する、請求項27〜32のいずれか1項に記載のシールリング。
- 前記シールリングが少なくとも1.3メートルの直径を有する、請求項27〜33のいずれか1項に記載のシールリング。
- 前記PTFE充填ポリマーが、ポリケトン、ポリアラミド、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリアミドイミド、ポリフェニレンスルフィド、ポリフェニレンスルホン、フッ素ポリマー、ポリベンゾイミダゾール、液晶ポリマー、これらの誘導体、またはこれらの組み合わせ、からなる群から選択されるポリマーを含む、請求項1〜34に記載のいずれか。
- 前記PTFE充填ポリマーが、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルケトンケトン、これらの誘導体、およびこれらの組み合わせ、からなる群から選択されるポリケトン材料を含む、請求項1〜35に記載のいずれか。
- 前記PTFE充填ポリマーが、PTFE充填ポリエーテルエーテルケトン(PEEK)を含む、請求項1〜36に記載のいずれか。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーが、ポリケトン、ポリアラミド、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリアミドイミド、ポリフェニレンスルフィド、ポリフェニレンスルホン、フッ素ポリマー、ポリベンゾイミダゾール、液晶ポリマー、これらの誘導体、またはこれらの組み合わせ、からなる群から選択されるポリマーを含む、請求項1〜37に記載のいずれか。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーが、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルケトンケトン、これらの誘導体、およびこれらの組み合わせ、からなる群から選択されるポリケトン材料を含む、請求項1〜38に記載のいずれか。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーがPEEKを含む、請求項1〜39のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーが超高分子量ポリエチレンを含む、請求項1〜40のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーが最低でも250℃の融点を有する、請求項1〜41のいずれか。
- 前記第2ポリマーまたはサポートポリマーが、最低でも100℃のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項1〜42のいずれか。
- 前記溶接部が、少なくとも3100psiの引張強さを有する、請求項1〜43のいずれか。
- 前記溶接部の引張弾性率が少なくとも100ksiである、請求項1〜44のいずれか。
