Abstract

758,447. Joint-making packing. K. A. C., Ltd. May 21, 1954 [April 7, 19531. No. 9432/53. Class 122(3) [Also in Group XXVIII] A sealing ring, particularly for use in a pipe joint, comprises a U-section ring 1 the arms 4, 5 of which extend radially inwards and are pressed apart so that they diverge outwardly by a resilient channel element 7 of U-section similar to the ring 1 and located therein. The ring 1 is of polytetrafluoethylene and the element 7 is preferably formed from strip spring steel or beryllium copper. The free edges 6 of the arms of the ring 1 are preferably chamfered.
