Abstract

技术方案

具体实施方式
数据存储系统通常包括一个或更多个从磁记录介质读取和写入信息的记录磁头换能器。通常希望在记录磁头换能器和其关联的介质之间具有相对小的距离或间距。这个距离或间距被称为“飞行高度”或“磁头介质间距”。通过减小所述磁头介质间距,记录磁头换能器通常能够更好地向介质写入数据以及从介质读取数据。减小所述磁头介质间距也允许对记录介质地形的勘测,例如检测记录介质表面的粗糙粒或其他特征。
根据多个实施例,并且参考图1-3,示出了由悬臂101支持的、与旋转的磁存储介质160紧邻的滑块100。所述滑块100支持着记录磁头换能器103以及热耦合到该磁头换能器103的加热器102。所述加热器102可能是当电流流过该加热器102时就产生热量的电阻加热器。所述加热器102不限于是电阻加热器,也可能包括任何形式的加热源。所述加热器102产生的热能导致所述磁头换能器103的热膨胀。这种热膨胀可以被用作减小数据存储系统中的磁头介质间距107。应注意到,在一些实施例中,非热能致动器可以被用于减小所述磁头介质间距107。

如图3的描述,在磁头-介质接触之前,在所述热的磁头表面和相关的冷的磁盘160之间具有空气间隙107。所述磁头换能器103、空气间隙107和磁记录盘160定义了一个热传递率水平。当所述磁头换能器103与所述盘160接触时,例如在所述热致动器或加热器102的作用之后,所述磁头换能器103的高导热材料和盘160的直接接触显著提高了所述率热传递率。这样,在所述磁头换能器103上的所述TCR传感器105感测到温度的下降或温度轨迹的摆幅,从而检测到磁头-介质接触。

图4B示出了由非热能致动器进行致动的记录磁头换能器103的特性温度曲线图。在此图示中,所述TCR传感器偏压电源对所述TCR传感器105进行自加热以使得头到盘界面处的温度上升到显著高于所述盘160的温度。所述盘160在这种方式下起到散热片的作用。当所述磁头换能器103被朝着所述盘160向下致动时,所述热传递率逐渐上升,导致所述传感器105温度的逐渐下降。当所述磁头换能器103开始与所述盘160接触,热传递率将有变化,使得磁头换能器表面温度波动。所述磁头换能器表面的TCR传感器105测量此温度波动以检测磁头-介质接触。当对磁头-介质接触进行进一步的致动时,所述温度将会由于摩擦生热而最终上升。
在下面的讨论中,根据多个实施例参考了电阻线的温度系数,该电阻 线表示一合适的电阻温度传感器的实施例。可以理解这里所用的术语“线”是为了解释性的目的,而不是将电阻温度传感器或传感器元件局限于线结构。也可考虑其他TCR结构和传感器配置。
现在转到图5,根据多个实施例示出了感测磁头介质间距变化和接触活动的多种处理。随着所述磁头换能器相对于磁记录介质的移动(140),图5A所示的方法包括利用连接到低电阻接触片的电阻温度传感器来感测所述磁头换能器的紧邻点处的温度(142)。所述方法还包括输出没有被接触所产生的信号分量混淆的传感器信号(144)。可利用所述传感器信号来实现多种处理,包括检测所述介质粗糙粒(146)、测量磁头介质间距变化(147)和检测磁头-介质接触(148)。
当电阻温度传感器的TCR导线热运行时(例如高于环境温度,尤其是,高于相关的磁记录介质的温度),所述线产生的热量的一部分流失到邻近的导电接触片中。传统的实现方式在邻近所述热的传感器的接触片中通常具有相对高的电阻。因此,邻近所述TCR导线的接触片也最终对测量到的信号有贡献,并使得所述“有效传感器”比设计的TCR导线传感器的几何形状更大。
这里有包括但不限于下述的几个问题。所述TCR传感器的有效尺寸比所期望的大。在粗糙粒检测的情况下,比所述TCR传感器的有效长度更小的粗糙粒尺寸不能被精确表征。因为所述接触片的电阻也影响着所测量的电阻变化,所以实际的TCR导线/仅传感器的过热率OHR不能被设置。这将随着设计而改变,除非所述接触片的电阻或所述接触片面临的温度是可以忽略的。最后,相比于所述小的TCR导线,大接触片将有明显不同的频率响应。如果所述接触片也影响着所述测量的信号,其将污染所述TCR导线自身的所测量的响应。
通常,期望将所述TCR导线传感器运行至热,意味着所述TCR导线上放置了足够的电偏置以将其加热到比周围环境高。则所述传感器信号来自测量由于电阻元件传感器上的热传递变化所产生的温度变化。因为所述材料具有电阻温度系数,则温度变化导致所述传感器电阻的变化。下列等式(1)示出了对于给定的TCR(α0)所述TCR导线的电阻如何随着温度变化:

最理想地,期望测量仅仅由于所述TCR传感器自身的温度变化所产生的电阻变化。但是,所述TCR传感器被附连到所述磁头换能器中的导电接触片以及所述磁头换能器的外部引线,所述引线也具有电阻。下列等式(2)示出了所测量的电阻如何包括将被测量的所述TCR导线电阻以及接触片电阻(即,会被暴露于来自所述TCR传感器或所述加热元件的温度的所述磁头换能器中的电阻)和引线电阻(即,不暴露于所述TCR传感器温度或加热器温度的所述磁头外部的电阻)。

本发明的实施例实现减小紧接着热TCR导线传感器的非传感器接触片电阻,用于改进的仅传感器信号的生成。根据多个实施例,紧邻所述热TCR导线的接触片面积扩张到显著降低所述电阻,且因此显著降低来自所述接触片的信号总和。
在一些实施例中,应用了具有邻近所述传感器并且大得多的横截面的接触片,以降低那个区域中的接触片电阻。下列等式(7)给出了TCR导线的电阻。X是电阻率,l是所述TCR导线的长度,Aw是所述横截面积。根据等式 (7),所述横截面积的增加减小了所述TCR导线或所述接触片的截面电阻。
图7示出了传统TCR传感器301的图例,该传感器301具有带有邻近接触片327的TCR导线325。所述TCR导线325的表面和接触片327位于所述磁头换能器的空气承载表面320上。传统上,所述接触片327具有与所述TCR导线325相同的下轨道厚度以及缓慢增长的进入滑块深度。根据多个实施例,图8示出了具有低接触灵敏度TCR导线传感器335的电阻温度传感器302的典型例子,其中接触片337的下轨道宽度和进入滑块深度显著地增加,导致所述接触片337的电阻减小。在图8所示的实施例中,所述TCR传感器302包括前沿340和后沿350。所述TCR导线325和接触片327具有各自的与所述TCR传感器302的前沿和后沿340和350平行排列的前沿和后沿。所述TCR导线335的前沿相对于所述接触片337的前沿凹进去。所述TCR导线335和接触片337的相对排列和位置以及这些元件的几何形状可能被改变,以达到特定的粗糙粒和磁头介质间距和/或接触检测特性。
根据多个实施例,被配置为与磁记录介质交互的磁头换能器上设置TCR传感器302。所述TCR传感器302具有传感器电阻,并且被配置为在高于环境温度的温度下工作。所述TCR传感器302响应于例如传感器302和所述介质之间的间距变化、与所述介质上粗糙粒的碰撞、以及磁头-介质接触。导电接触片337连接到所述TCR传感器302并具有接触电阻。所述接触片337具有邻近所述传感器302的横截面,其大于传感器302的横截面,因此所述接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻较小,并且其对所述TCR传感器302产生的信号的影响可以忽略不计。最优地,所述接触片337的电阻相对于所述TCR传感器302的电阻可以忽略不计。
实现包括低电阻接触片337的TCR传感器302使得影响传感器信号的所述传感器302的有效尺寸与其物理尺寸实质相同。具有低电阻接触片337的TCR传感器302产生不被所述接触片337贡献的信号分量混淆的传感器信号。在一些实施例中,所述接触片337的区域暴露于由所述TCR传感器302和所述磁头换能器的加热器(未示出)中的或两者所产生的热能中。在此情形下,所述接触区域337的接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻较小,并且其对所述TCR传感器302产生的信号的影响可以忽略不计。
可以理解,在多个实施例中,TCR传感器302的传感器元件335和接触片337可能定义整体TCR结构的不同区域。例如,所述TCR传感器302可能具有相对的两端,TCR传感器元件335位于上述两端之间。所述TCR传感器302的相对两端具有大于所述传感器元件335横截面的横截面。在这些实施例中,所述接触片337包括或以其他方式含有所述传感器302的相对两端。
根据多个实施例,所述接触片337可能具有邻近所述TCR传感器335且比该传感器335的横截面大1到1000倍之间的横截面。在多个实施例中,所述接触片电阻比所述传感器电阻小1到1000倍之间。在多个实施例中,所述TCR传感器335被配置为工作在约25到300℃之间的温度中,其中典型的工作温度约为100℃。在其他实施例中,所述TCR传感器335被配置为工作在比所述磁记录盘和周围环境的温度(典型范围为25到75℃)高出大约0到300℃之间的温度。
在图7中,示出了具有窄接触片327的传统TCR导线传感器301。根据多个实施例图8示出了TCR导线传感器302,其具有大横截面接触片337以显著降低接触电阻。图8中所给出的特殊几何形状表示一种可能的实现方式,可以理解,可以利用任何几何形状来增加所述接触片337相对于所述TCR导线335的横截面。可以利用有限元分析模型来为任意的特定传感器设计定义最佳几何形状。所述TCR传感器302较佳地设置在所述磁头换能器的紧邻点处或接近于所述磁头换能器的紧邻点。在多种实施例中,所述TCR导线335被定义尺寸以感测磁记录媒体粗糙粒。
图9A和10A是图9B和10B所示两个TCR导线传感器301和302相对电阻,以及与它们相关的接触片327和337作为交叉追踪位置的函数的示意图。图9A示出了具有相对较小横截面接触片327的传统TCR传感器301的交叉追踪电阻曲线。图10A示出了根据本发明的实施例的TCR传感器302的交叉追踪电阻曲线,该传感器302具有相对较大横截面的低敏感度TCR导线接触片。
图9B中传统传感器的理论接触电阻从所述传感器电阻值单调地减小。图10B中所述TCR传感器302的低敏感度接触片的理论接触电阻立刻降低并且比传统设计中更加剧烈地减小。由此,取决于几何形状,来自所述接触片337的信号剧烈地降低到0到40dB或更多。
通常,当在固定电偏置(例如固定电流、功率或电压)上使用热TCR导线传感器时,在粗糙粒和接触检测信号方面磁头与磁头的不同非常大。部分的信号不同来自于由几何形状以及穿过传感器和磁头换能器的热传递变化所导致的所述TCR导线的温度在磁头与磁头之间的变化。这样的磁头与磁头之间的变化导致了磁头与磁头之间的固定检测事件的信号幅度变化。
图11是示出了根据多个实施例的、在热传递变化影响传感器时、将多个磁头换能器上的多个电阻温度传感器中的每一个保持在固定温度的多种处理的流程图。随着所述磁头换能器相对于磁记录介质的移动(180),图11所示的方法包括利用TCR导线传感器来感测磁头介质间距的变化(182),其中为所述TCR导线传感器提供偏压电源(183)。所述方法还包括在热传递变化影响传感器时,调整偏压电源来将每个TCR导线传感器保持在高于环境的固定温度上(184)。如果所述磁头换能器是热致动的(186),所述方法进一步包括,在包括由于热致动所述磁头换能器而产生的热传递变化在内的热传递变化影响传感器时,调整偏置电压来将TCR导线传感器保持在所述固定温度(188)。
图12A和12B示出了代表性的多个磁头TCR导线传感器的接触检测响应,作为在相同偏置范围的线偏置电流(图12A)和线OHR/温度(图12B)的函数。在更高温度(更高偏置或OHRs)上,当所述TCR导线传感器运行在跨所述磁头换能器上的固定OHR/温度时,跨TCR导线传感器上的所述接触检测响应的信号-噪声响应(SNR)更一致。
图13A和13B示出了多个磁头换能器上的代表性的TCR导线传感器粗糙粒SNR数据。更特别地,图13A和13B将代表性的多个磁头TCR导线传感器的粗糙粒检测SNR数据表示为TCR导线偏压电源(图13A)和导线传感器OHR/温度(图13B)的函数。可以看出,当所述TCR导线传感器运行在跨所述磁头换能器上的固定OHR/温度时,跨磁头换能器上的所述粗糙粒检测响应更一致。
本发明的实施例涉及用于对每个TCR导线传感器进行偏置来提供磁头换能器的所有TCR导线传感器上的固定温度的设备和方法。根据多个实施例,每个TCR导线传感器运行在固定温度上,以消除由于跨所述TCR导线传感器上的温度变化而产生的粗糙粒和接触检测信号中的磁头与磁头间的变化。通过测量所述TCR导线的电阻变化,所述TCR导线传感器可被用于测量温度,其 中TCR导线的电阻变化是TCR导线温度变化的函数,如下列等式(8)所示:
在上述等式(8)中,Rw和Tw分别为热电阻和温度;R0和T0分别为冷电阻和温度,α0为所述TCR导线电阻的温度系数。所述TCR、α0是材料特性,因此固定TCR导线温度的OHR值随材料变化。
等式(8)为线性格式,并且对于非标准材料可能出现更高次项。另外,这是假设穿过TCR导线传感器都是均匀的温度和电阻。如果所述TCR导线和电阻不是均匀的,则只能保留这个等式的小元微分形式,如下列等式(9)中所突出的:
其中dR(x,y,z)和dT(x,y,z)为小均匀元素电阻和温度。如果穿过TCR导线的温度分布或电阻有变化,则必须将所述微分等式在所述传感器上积分,并且利用模型来确定与最大或平均TCR导线温度的精确关系。
在一些工作的情况中,通过将偏压电源应用到导线上以将那些TCR导线加热到高于环境温度是有利的。图14示出了悬挂在空气中的导线的热传递平衡的图例,与出自Bruun所著的《,热导线测速:原理和信号响应》(1995)的类似图一致。这里很清楚,所述TCR导线的温度不只取决于焦耳热(I2R),也取决于从所述TCR导线的不同热传递模式。
因为所述TCR导线上的温度取决于焦耳热和所述导线的热传递,所以使用固定的导线偏压电源时,跨变化的磁头在所述TCR导线上的温度不是固定的。因此,为了使每个TCR导线传感器运行在相同的温度,必须调整所述偏压电源以使得(对于固定的材料)所述过热率OHR具有相同的值。对于具有穿过传感器的均匀温度和电阻的设计,可以使用下列等式(10):
对于具有显著大的温度和/或电阻梯度的设计,如下列等式(11)中突出所示的,所述函数形式只对小元素严格成立:
应当注意,利用所述均匀等式(上述等式(10))将会导致可接受或不可接 受的错误。
图15示出了用于磁头换能器集合(例如,五个磁头换能器)的OHR相对于导线偏压电源的图表。在图15中,每个磁头换能器运行在多重加热功率(HP扫描)下,其中OHR=Rw/R0-1。这里,TCR导线温度来自于导线偏置(横坐标)和所述加热器(在固定的导线电流上增加OHR)。在固定的TCR导线偏压电源和加热功率下,穿过磁头换能器的OHR的变化在图15中很容易看到,并且可以导致穿过磁头换能器的TCR温度的显著差异。
应当注意,零加热功率的情况是每个TCR导线偏压电源的最低点。例如,345μW和零加热功率的磁头换能器S6Q0的OHR为~0.2。345μW和零加热功率的磁头换能器S2W0的OHR为~0.09。也就是说,磁头换能器S6Q0的OHR是磁头换能器S2W0的OHR的2.2倍。在这些磁头换能器没有加热功率时这可转化为所述TCR导线上有73℃的温度差。
为了达到一致的热TCR传感器的磁头对磁头操作和可靠性,期望每个TCR导线传感器运行在固定的OHR(例如图15中的水平线),而不是运行固定的导线偏压电源(例如图15中的垂直线)、或固定的导线偏置电流或电压,这不导致穿过磁头换能器的TCR导线传感器的热传递变化。
下面是设置固定OHR的方法的代表性例子,假设了均匀的TCR导线温度和电阻(参见,例如上述等式(10)):
例1
下面给出了代表性的现场方法:
1、测量“冷”的或环境的TCR导线电阻(R0)。
2、在测量增长了的“热”导线电阻(Rw)时增加所述TCR导线偏压电源。
3、利用上述等式(10)计算OHR。
4、使用可给予所期望的OHR的TCR导线偏压电源、或电流、或电压。
例2
下面给出了更简单的内插或外插方法:
1、测量在两个(或更多个)导线偏压电源下的TCR导线电阻。
2、将所述数据拟合成一条直线,并确定Rw相对于导线偏压电源斜率和截距。
3、将所述截距用作R0。
4、使用上述等式(9)的反方程以及所期望的OHR、计算出的斜率、以及计算出的截距得到工作中的TCR导线的功率。
但是,上述例1和例2的代表性方法中的R0会由于低偏置下的测量精度产生重大误差。例如,在100μA下,测量到的电阻具有明显的波动(~2Ohms)。在这个相同的系统中,为得到更精确的电阻测量值所需要的电流是500μA,这将会加热TCR导线。下面是以短测试时间和低R0误差来为固定OHR找到偏置的另一个代表性方法。
例3
1、预偏置扫描:以100μA的步长从100μA到目标电流(TC)进行偏置电流扫描,来测量TCR导线电阻。所述TC是达到期望OHR所需要电流的初步估算值。
2、为固定OHR得出目标偏压电源:绘制出如图16所示的Rw相对于导线偏压电源。应注意到,在低偏置时,由于糟糕的电阻测量精度,曲线601不是线性的。可将TC、TC-100、TC-100的偏置电流处的三个点进行线性拟合603,以达到等式Rw=αP+b。这里Rw是TCR导线电阻,P是偏压电源,α是斜率,b是截距。由于功率与所述delta温度(Tw-T0)成比例,上述的线性拟合等式可以被写作下列等式(12):

3、根据操作可行性将所述目标偏压电源转换为偏置电流或电压。
4、如果有必要,将目标偏置限制在可靠度极限内,例如从TCR导线传感器寿命测试得到的电压极限。
进一步参考图16,此图示出了为特殊晶圆的磁头换能器设置固定OHR的例子,可得出下列拟合方程:R=127.803+0.092994*P。这里,所述斜率α=0.092994±0.000796,所述截距b=127.803±0.348。如果,例如所述固定OHR=0.3,使用上述方法,所述偏压电源应设置为P=412.294±2.406μW。
另外,设置跨TCR导线传感器上的OHR也可被扩展为设置系统中其他参数(例如,半径/歪曲率)上的OHR。利用多热源热力模型(MXTM),当所述磁头换能器运行在固定的TCR导线偏压电源时,可得到结果为跨所述歪曲率上的接触检测响应的下降。MXTM模型的结果也已经将所述TCR导线上的电阻变化表示为跨所述歪曲率上的加热功率的函数。可以看出,OD(外径)歪曲率比ID(内径)上的歪曲率偏离的更多,表明了在所述OD上发生了相对更大量的冷却。所观测到的OD上的冷却量比ID上的增加了~3倍。类似地,所观测到的OD上的接触检测响应是ID上的~3倍。如果调整跨歪曲率上的OHR,所述歪曲率上的静态热传递则会更一致。
应注意到,由于所述换能器中的多热源和所述传感器和接触片的不同电阻和TCR,当试图为所有磁头换能器上的TCR导线传感器固定恒定温度时,上述简单方法可能导致显著的误差。可使用其他实现方式来改进所述技术,例如:
1、由加热器和/或环境所产生的增加的温度可被包括在计算中;即,测量由TCR导线偏置和加热器所产生的增加电阻以设置固定OHR。
2、可以重新计算OHR,并基于所述系统如何变化来设置所述OHR;该变化例如跨半径,或如果所述TCR导线传感器响应随着时间衰落则在时间上变化。
3、如果所述接触片在所述OHR被用于标准化的参数上改变其电阻,则一定要考虑所述接触电阻的改变。
4、可以用模型来理解不均匀的温度和电阻变化率对期望温度的设置精度有多大影响。
根据多个实施例,设置更精确OHR和更一致导线温度的方法包括:使用模型来考虑不均匀的传感器温度、电阻和换能器加热器的加热。图17A-17D示出了根据多个实施例的估算TCR导线传感器上最大温度的多种方式。如这些图中可见,估算所述最大温度最精确的方法是通过监视所述TCR导线中的OHR和所述加热功率(参见图17D、17或17I)。精确地估算最大功率对于可靠性很重要,尤其是对于DLC完整性。
图17A-17I示出了模型化的最大TCR导线温度相对于不同变量,如下:图17A示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于导线功率;图17B(以及放大图17E)示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于整体过热率(引线和导线);图17C(以 及放大图17F)示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于导线过热率;图17D(以及放大图17G)示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于导线过热率和写入器加热功率。
图17A-17G示出了所述MXTM模型所预测的最大导线温度回归相对于不同输入变量。使用所述MXTM模型进行的建模是对涵盖了大多数制造参数分布(包括TCR导线传感器高度)的磁头集合进行,以模拟真实制造的磁头。因此接触介质所必须的加热功率随着磁头的不同而不同。
所述TCR导线传感器和所述写入加热器两者的能量决定了所述导线的最大温度。其结果就是,更高的飞行和/或更低效率的磁头需要更大的加热功率去接触介质,因此当所述TCR导线传感器上的电压保持恒定时产生更高的导线温度。
图17A-17D中的所述回归按增长的相关度排序的,其表明了预测所述TCR导线中温度的最佳方式是通过所述导线中的OHR和所述加热功率(图17D和放大图17G,与图17I一样)。这个结果,以及TCR导线接触检测SNR与OHR更一致的事实,表明了设置所有磁头上的TCR导线传感器温度常量改进了磁头上的SNR一致性。
图17H和17I示出了所建模的最大导线温度:图17H示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于导线电压和加热功率;图17I示出了最大TCR导线温度相对于OHR和加热功率。如图17H所示的所建模的最大导线温度回归相对于导线电压和加热功率表明了:利用导线电压和加热功率对TCR导线温度的预测非常好。但是,这种导线温度预测不如利用OHR和加热功率(图17I)来得精确,一如这两种方法的误差均方根(RMSE)值所示出的,大约相差五倍。
从所述参数估算得出的另一个重要发现是,关联导线温度和电压的系数的符号是正的(图17H),而关联导线温度和OHR的系数的符号是负的(图17I)。这表明了为达到跨所有部分的恒定最大温度,接触部件的较高功率相对于接触部件的较低功率需要设置在更高的OHR。
图18示出了所建模的最大导线温度相对于不同加热功率的OHR的图表。图18中看起来不符合逻辑的数据图表是因为OHR也是加热功率的函数。也就是说,跨所述TCR导线传感器上的温度分布随着加热功率而变化。为了在加热功率增加时保持恒定的最大温度,OHR比率也必须增加。例如,为了在所述加热功率从0mW增加到30mW再到70mW时达到80℃的恒定最大导线温 度,所述OHR从百分之0.062%增加到0.09%再到0.11%,并且所述导线电压需要从125mV降低到95mV再到52mV。
用于检测粗糙粒和磁头-介质接触的传统TCR导线传感器被定向为TCR的导线在交叉跟踪方向上。这种几何形状至少存在三个问题。第一,所述跟踪方向的TCR导线长度定义了粗糙粒特征的最小交叉跟踪宽度。在所述交叉追踪方向不能精确地表征比所述交叉跟踪导线长度更小的粗糙粒。这将导致多于必要的轨道“填充”,并将导致驱动器容量的不必要损失。本文中的“轨道填充”指的是无法被精确表征的轨道(或者通常为盘)的区域,从而可能包括粗糙粒或其他介质缺陷。在记录磁头换能器的飞行期间回避了这些不能被表征的轨道或盘表面的区域,导致存储容量降低。
第二,一旦检测到并表征粗糙粒,就填充比所述粗糙粒交叉追踪宽度更多的轨道,以占据所述磁头换能器的功能元件的交叉追踪宽度。由于传统的TCR导线传感器被定向在所述交叉追踪方向,填充所述TCR导线传感器所需的轨道数量比写入器和读取器所需的轨道数量更多。第三,上述第一和第二个问题都表明所述TCR导线越短越好。但是,从传感器SNR的角度来看,所述TCR导线越长越好。因此,不可能对TCR导线传感器在粗糙粒/接触检测和精确的粗糙粒交叉跟踪表征两方面都进行完全的优化。
本发明的实施例是关于一种被定向为平行于轨道的TCR导线传感器,其提供了增加的粗糙粒分辨率以及降低的轨道填充以获得增加的驱动器容量。根据多个实施例,TCR导线传感器被定向为平行于所述轨道,而不同于传统的TCR导线传感器被定向到所述交叉追踪方向。
图19示出了根据多个实施例的使用具有与磁记录介质轨道平行的纵轴的TCR导线传感器来感测粗糙粒、磁头-介质间距变化、和/或磁头-介质接触的多种处理的流程图。随着所述磁头换能器相对于磁记录介质的移动(702),图19所示的方法包括使用具有与磁记录介质轨道平行的纵轴的TCR导线传感器来感测磁头介质间距的变化(704)。所述方法还包括用所述TCR传感器产生传感器信号(706),该传感器信号可用于多种目的,包括例如检测所述介质的粗糙粒(712)、测量磁头-介质间距变化(710)和检测磁头-介质接触(714)。
图20示出了传统交叉跟踪方向的TCR导线传感器801的图像,其包括连接到导电接触片827的TCR导线825。如图20所示,在传统的TCR导线 传感器801中,所述TCR导线825和接触片827通常互相平行。图21示出了根据本发明的多个实施例的轨道平行的TCR导线传感器802的图像。图21所示的TCR导线传感器802包括具有轨道平行方向的TCR导线835。如图21所示,所述TCR导线835连接到第一接触片837’和第二接触片837”。所述第一和第二接触片837’和837”中的每一个均连接到所述TCR导线835的相对端,并且它们之间形成了大约90°的角。传统TCR导线825分别与它的接触片827大致平行,而根据多个实施例的TCR导线835分别与它的接触片837’和837”大致垂直。
图20和21进一步示出了在活动操作期间为保证所述TCR导线825和835不会与粗糙粒互相作用所需的填充量。每个TCR导线825和835所需的填充量由从TCR导线825和835各自的相对两端开始从纸面向下延伸的虚线所表示。对图20和21中虚线中的面积的比较表明,对比于传统交叉跟踪方向的TCR导线传感器801,轨道平行方向的TCR导线传感器802所需填充量显著降低而且存储容量随之增加。
在如图20所示的传统TCR导线传感器801的情况下,这个标准的传感器交叉跟踪长度为500nm且下轨道宽度为35nm。在零歪曲率下,这意味着能确定的最小交叉跟踪粗糙粒宽度为~500nm(即,有效传感器交叉跟踪宽度为~500nm)。加上用于填充的额外~500nm,所述传统TCR导线传感器801的宽度表明了每个粗糙粒需要在每一边上填充~1μm。
另一方面,对于相同情况下与所述TCR导线传感器801相同的尺寸,根据本发明实施例的轨道平行TCR导线传感器802(如图21所示)可以将所述粗糙粒表征到~35nm并且只需要填充额外的~35μm,导致每一边上填充0.07μm。在零歪曲率下,根据多个实施例的轨道平行TCR导线传感器802导致的填充是传统交叉追踪TCR导线传感器801的7%。这种填充的显著降低和随之而来的驱动器容量的增加是由于更精确地表征了粗糙粒的真实交叉追踪宽度以及更窄的传感器所需填充量的降低。
在高歪曲率下,如图21所示的轨道平行TCR导线传感器802的有效感应宽度增加符合下列等式(13):
weff=w+l sinα等式13
这里,weff为所述TCR导线传感器802的有效交叉追踪宽度,w为所述 TCR导线835的物理宽度,l为所述TCR线的长度,以及α为歪曲率。但是,即使歪曲率达到20°,所述轨道平行TCR导线传感器802的有效传感器交叉追踪宽度仍然远比传统叉追踪TCR导线传感器801的要小。
对于上述例子,在20°的所述轨道平行TCR导线传感器802的有效传感器宽度weff为206nm,是具有相同尺寸和磁头方向的所述标准交叉跟踪TCR导线传感器801的44%。特定的填充节省取决于个别传感器的设计和操作歪曲率。
下面是根据多个实施例的构造轨道平行TCR导线传感器802的不同的非限制性手段:
1)蚀刻沟槽(例如,在SiO2或Al2O3),且在下面的接触片停止蚀刻。然后,使用片镶嵌工艺来填充所述沟槽。接下来,沉积或镀覆所述顶接触片,覆盖电介质,并进行化学机械抛光(CMP)。
2)再一次,如上述1所述的蚀刻沟槽。然后,使用原子层沉积(ALD)工艺来填充所述沟槽(没有能力在所述沟槽的侧壁上沉积的话这将会很慢)。可以在电介质上直接沉积一些化学物质。在这些情况下,在沉积/镀覆所述顶接触片之前将需要CMP步骤。
3)生成大台阶而不是沟槽。然后,利用定向沉积工艺(例如离子束沉积(IBD))并沉积偏位入射且在所述台阶的侧壁上建立导线。接下来,沉积所述沟槽的另一边、电介质,并CMP回退到第一台阶的顶部上的金属(这可被用作CMP的停止)。然后,沉积所述顶接触片,覆盖电介质,并进行。
图22是根据多个实施例的,检测粗糙粒、磁头-介质接触、和磁头介质间距变化的设备900的图例。可以理解,设备900的多个部件出于简约的目的没有在图22中示出。图22所示的设备900描述了可以协同工作以实现这里描述的多种粗糙粒、磁头-介质接触、和磁头介质间距变化监测方法的多个部件。在这个图示中,控制系统902耦合到包含了任意数量硬盘驱动器904的大容量存储装置。
图22包括了图1中所示的滑块100的再现,所述滑块100支撑了装设有TCR传感器105的记录磁头换能器103,并与旋转的磁性存储介质160的表面间隔开。示出了所述控制系统902包括控制器914、检测器912和电源910。所述控制器914被配置为与所述设备900的多个部件协同工作以控制所述介质 160的旋转和所述滑块100的运动,例如在读取和写入操作期间。
所述电源910为所述设备900的多个部件供电。在多个实施例中,所述电源910被配置为向所述TCR传感器105提供偏压电源并向所述磁头换能器致动器提供致动功率。例如,所述电源910为加热器102供电,该加热器102作为所述磁头换能器103的热致动器。在上文中所述的多个实施例中,所述电源910被配置为向多个磁头换能器103的每个TCR传感器105提供偏压电源,以及在热传递改变影响着所述TCR传感器105时调整所述偏压电源以将每个TCR传感器105保持在高于环境温度的固定温度上。
所述TCR传感器105位于接近于所述磁头换能器105的紧邻点或正在所述磁头换能器105的紧邻点上,并且在此位置测量温度。所述TCR传感器105最好是具有电阻温度系数(TCR)的传感器。所述TCR传感器105可能具有正的TCR或负的TCR。如前所述,所述测量温度响应于所述磁头换能器103和所述磁记录介质160之间的间距变化而改变。所述检测器912耦合到所述TCR传感器105并被配置为检测所测量的温度分量的变化,该变化表示了粗糙粒、磁头-介质接触和磁头介质间距变化中的一个或多个。
根据多个实施例,所述TCR传感器105设置在所述磁头换能器103上,因此所述TCR传感器105的纵轴在方向上大致平行于所述磁记录介质的轨道。所述TCR传感器104响应于所述TCR传感器105和所述介质160之间的间距变化,特别是响应于所述介质160的粗糙粒。在使用了轨道平行TCR传感器104的实施例中,所述检测器912被配置为检测所述介质160的粗糙粒,相比于传统交叉追踪方向TCR导线传感器具有显著降低的轨道填充量。
根据一些实施例,由所述电源910为所述TCR传感器105供电来将所述磁头对盘界面加热到高于所述介质160的温度。在其他实施例中,所述电源910对所述TCR传感器105和所述加热器102都供电来对所述磁头对盘界面进行加热。所述检测器912被配置为检测由所述TCR传感器105响应于粗糙粒、磁头-介质接触或磁头介质间距变化而生成的、表示从所述经加热的磁头对盘界面到所述介质160的增高的热传导率的信号中AC或DC分量的变化,该变化取决于头对盘界面的类型(调制HDI对比非调制HDI)。
可以理解,虽然在上述的说明书中已经公开了多个实施例的大量特征与结构和功能的细节,此详细说明书只是示意性的,细节上尤其是所述多个实 施例中的结构和排列方式上可以变化成所附的权利要求书中术语在广义上覆盖了的所有形式。
Claims (25)
1.一种设备,包括:
磁头换能器,被配置为与磁性记录介质进行交互;
传感器,被设置在所述磁头换能器上,并具有电阻温度系数和传感器电阻,所述传感器被配置为在高于环境温度的温度下工作,并且对所述传感器和所述介质之间的间距变化作出响应;以及
导电接触片,连接到所述传感器,并具有接触电阻,所述接触片具有邻近于所述传感器的横截面,所述接触片的横截面大于所述传感器的横截面,因此所述接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻更小,并且所述接触电阻对所述传感器产生的信号的影响可以忽略不计。
2.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻可以忽略不计。
3.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中影响所述传感器信号的所述传感器有效尺寸与所述传感器的物理尺寸大致相同。
4.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中信号中由所述接触片贡献的分量没有混淆所述传感器信号。
5.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中:
所述接触片的区域暴露于所述传感器和所述磁头换能器的加热器中的一个或两者所产生的热量之下;以及
所述接触片区域的接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻更小,并且所述接触电阻对所述传感器产生的信号的影响可以忽略不计。
6.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中:
所述传感器包括传感器元件和在所述传感器元件之间的相对端;
所述传感器的相对端具有横截面,相对端的横截面大于所述传感器的横截面;以及
所述传感器接触片包括所述传感器的相对端。
7.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述接触片具有邻近于所述传感器的横截面,所述接触片的横截面比所述传感器的横截面大1到1000倍。
8.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述接触电阻比所述传感器电阻小1到1000倍。
9.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中:
所述接触片和所述传感器中的每一个都包含前沿和后沿;和
所述传感器的前沿相对于所述接触片的前沿凹进去。
10.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述传感器被配置为在约0℃到300℃的温度中工作。
11.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述传感器位于所述磁头换能器的紧邻点处或接近于所述磁头换能器的紧邻点。
12.根据权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述传感器被定义尺寸以感测所述介质的粗糙粒。
13.一种方法,包括:
随着磁记录介质相对于磁头换能器移动:
使用具有电阻温度系数的传感器来感测所述磁头换能器的紧邻点上的温度,该传感器与具有接触电阻的导电接触片连接,所述接触片具有邻近所述传感器的横截面,所述接触片的横截面大于所述传感器的横截面,因此所述接触电阻相对于所述传感器电阻更小,并且所述接触电阻对所述传感器产生的信号的影响可以忽略不计;
输出所述传感器信号;和
使用所述传感器信号来检测所述介质上的粗糙粒。
14.根据权利要求13所述的方法,其中信号中由所述接触片贡献的分量没有混淆所述传感器信号。
15.一种设备,包括:
多个磁头换能器,被配置为与磁记录介质互相作用;
多个传感器,具有电阻温度系数的,其中每个磁头换能器上设置至少一个传感器,该至少一个传感器对所述传感器和所述介质之间的间距变化作出响应;以及
电源,被配置为对每个磁头换能器上的每个传感器提供偏压电源,并且在热传递变化影响着所述传感器时调整所述偏压电源以将每个传感器保持在高于环境温度的固定温度上。
16.根据权利要求15所述的设备,其中所述至少一个传感器设置在每个磁头换能器的紧邻点处。
17.根据权利要求15所述的设备,其中所述电源被配置为调整所述偏压电源,因此在热传递变化影响着所述传感器时,所有传感器上都保持了大致固定的过热率(OHR)。
18.根据权利要求15所述的设备,进一步包括:
加热器,设置在每个所述磁头换能器上并被配置为致动所述磁头换能器;
其中所述电源被配置为在包括那些由于供电给所述加热器而产生的热传递影响着所述传感器时,调整所述偏压电源以将每个传感器保持在所述固定温度上。
19.一种方法,包括:
随着磁记录介质相对于多个磁头换能器运动:
使用具有电阻温度系数的传感器来感测所述磁头换能器和所述介质之间的间距变化;
对所述传感器供应偏压电源;以及
在热传递变化影响着所述传感器时,调整所述偏压电源以将每个传感器保持在高于环境温度的固定温度上。
20.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
热力致动所述磁头换能器来使得所述磁头换能器朝向所述介质运动;以及
在包括那些由于热力致动所述磁头换能器而产生的热传递影响着所述传感器时,调整所述偏压电源以将每个传感器保持在所述固定温度上。
21.一种设备,包括:
磁头换能器,被配置为与具有多个轨道的磁记录介质相互作用;以及
传感器,具有电阻温度系数,并设置在所述磁头换能器上,因此所述传感器的纵轴在方向上大致平行于所述轨道,所述传感器对所述介质上的粗糙粒以及所述传感器和所述介质之间的间距变化中的或两者作出响应。
22.根据权利要求21所述的设备,其中所述传感器在高于环境温度的温度中工作。
23.根据权利要求21所述的设备,其中所述传感器被配置为感测所述传感器和所述介质之间的接触。
24.根据权利要求21所述的设备,其中所述传感器包括具有电阻温度系数的导线,该导线在相对端连接到第一接触片和第二接触片,所述第一接触片和第二接触片在方向上大约垂直于所述TCR导线,并且彼此轴向偏移。
25.一种方法,包括:
使具有轨道的磁记录介质相对于磁头换能器运动;以及
使用具有电阻温度系数的传感器来感测所述介质的粗糙粒以及所述磁头换能器和所述介质之间的间距变化中的或两者,所述传感器具有在方向上大致平行于所述介质的轨道的纵轴。
