Definitions
- the present invention relates to a model sialon, a model sialon phosphor and a method for producing the same.
- the present invention relates to an ⁇ -type Si-a-pin and an ⁇ -type Sialon fluorescent material which can be used as a phosphor of a white light-emitting diode using a blue light emitting diode or an ultraviolet light emitting diode as a light source, and a method of manufacturing the same.
- Background art
- ⁇ -SiAlON (Si-A1-0- ⁇ ), a solid solution of ⁇ -type silicon nitride, has high hardness, excellent abrasion resistance, and excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. ⁇ High temperature Used for applications such as structural members.
- nitriding Gay element S i 3 ⁇ 4
- mixed powder composed of oxides such nitride ⁇ Ruminiumu (A 1 ⁇ ) and solid solution elements to a nitrogen atmosphere, atmospheric sintering, gas pressure sintering, The formation and densification of the solid solution are performed simultaneously by hot press sintering or the like.
- sintering is performed at a temperature close to its decomposition temperature. Even if it is performed, an auxiliary agent for generating a liquid phase is required because densification does not proceed, and as a result, it remains as a grain boundary glass phase.
- Such a grain boundary glass phase is hardly used as a starting material in applications such as sliding members and structural members of ⁇ -sialon for reasons such as unfavorable mechanical properties.
- white LED phosphors are used as submicron-micron sized particles dispersed in epoxy or other encapsulating materials. For the above reasons, ⁇ -sialon powder is not currently available on the market. It is in.
- An ⁇ -type sialon can also be obtained by firing a mixture of gay nitride, aluminum nitride, and an oxide of an element that forms a solid solution in the lattice at a high temperature, and pulverizing the obtained shaped sialon sintered compact. A powder is obtained.

- (b) shows Example 2
- (c) shows Comparative Example 1, respectively.
- FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a light emission spectrum of the ⁇ -type Siphon phosphors of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 when excited by 400 nm.
- the ⁇ -sialon according to the first embodiment of the present invention is:
- M 1 is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Li, Mg, Ca, Y and lanthanide metal (excluding La and Ce), and M2 is Ce, Pr, Eu , Tb, Yb, Er at least one element selected from the group consisting of 0.3, X + Y, 1.5, 0 ⁇ Y, and 0.7. It contains the following.
- the ⁇ -sialon according to the first embodiment of the present invention is characterized in that when ⁇ 1 is Ca,
- the present ⁇ -type sieve is the main component, there may be some residual fluorine-containing residue of unreacted raw material powder, but from the viewpoint of luminous efficiency, more fluorine is added than necessary. Is not preferred.
- the preferred fluorine content is 30 pp ⁇ ! ⁇ 1%. If it is less than 30 ppm, the primary particle diameter is too small, and only particles having advanced sintering between particles can be obtained. Fluorine content exceeds 1 wt 0/0 when covering the surface of the second phase is ⁇ -type Saia port down particles containing fluorine, the light emission characteristics decreases significantly.
- the content of fluorine as an impurity is preferably 30 to 200 ppm.
- the ⁇ -sialon according to the first embodiment of the present invention uses calcium fluoride as a part of the raw material to grow grains while delaying the nucleation of the ⁇ -sialon, so that particles between the particles can be formed. It can be manufactured by minimizing sintering.
- the ⁇ -sialon thus obtained can be easily made into fine particles by pulverization to a degree of pulverization, and for example, can have a particle size suitable for a phosphor.
- the ⁇ -type siren phosphor according to the second embodiment of the present invention is:
- M 1 is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Li, Mg, Ca, Y and lanthanide metals (excluding La and Ce), and MC e, Pr, Eu, Tb , Yb, Er at least one element selected from the group consisting of 0.3, X + Y, 1.5 and 0 ⁇ Y ⁇ 0.7.
- the ⁇ -type siren phosphor according to the second embodiment of the present invention if the above-mentioned rheological siren is a main component, there is a residual ⁇ fluorine-containing residue of some unreacted raw material powder. Although it may be acceptable, addition of fluorine more than necessary is not preferable from the viewpoint of luminous efficiency. As a result of examining the relationship between the amount of fluorine as an impurity of the ⁇ - type phosphor and the emission characteristics, The preferred fluorine content is 30 ppm to 1%.
- the content of fluorine as an impurity is preferably from 30 to 200 ppm.
- the ⁇ -sialon phosphor according to the second embodiment of the present invention uses calcium fluoride as a part of the raw material and grows the grains while delaying the nucleation of the ⁇ -sialon, thereby sintering the particles.
- An ⁇ -type sialon is obtained as suppressed as possible, and the average primary particle diameter is adjusted to 1 to 10 m by pulverizing the ⁇ -type sialon to a degree of pulverization.
- the crushing conditions are mild, surface defects are not introduced on the surface of the fine particles, and impurities are hardly mixed, so that good emission characteristics can be obtained. Can be.
- the second phase containing fluorine which is not dissolved in the sialon grains by an acid treatment after the calo-heat treatment for synthesizing the ⁇ -sialon as described later.
- This fluoride is soluble in an acid such as nitric acid, and its content can be controlled by acid treatment.
- Some of the fluorine forms a solid solution in the crystal structure of the cast silicon and contributes to the improvement of the light emission characteristics.
- the ⁇ -type sieve obtained by the above-mentioned heating is a lump. This can be combined with crushing, powdering and, if appropriate, classification operations to give a powder of a given size and applied to various uses.
- the average particle size of the secondary particles is 1 to 10 and the maximum particle size is 20%. It is preferably equal to or less than um. If the average particle size exceeds 10, sedimentation is likely to occur in the step of dispersing in a sealing material such as epoxy, and uniform dispersion may be difficult. If the average particle size is smaller than 1 m, problems such as deterioration of the light emission characteristics and deterioration of the nodling property occur.
- the ⁇ -sialon mass is excellent in crushability and can be easily crushed in a mortar or the like, but a general crusher such as a ball mill or a vibration mill is used. Is naturally acceptable.
- the obtained rhombic sialon phosphor is composed of truncated particles with little secondary aggregation. This primary particle also has the characteristic that the self-shaped surface is developed.
- the average particle size of the primary particles is 1 to 10 m, and the average aspect ratio of the primary particles is 2 or less. Therefore, the ⁇ -sialon phosphor of the present invention can be stably obtained with a particle size exhibiting excellent fluorescence characteristics.
- the average particle diameter of the primary particles can be determined by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) from an observation image at a magnification capable of identifying the primary particles of the phosphor by an intercept method or an image analysis method. It is calculated by measuring particles.
- SEM scanning electron microscope
- the ⁇ -sialon phosphor of the present invention is a sialon-based phosphor activated with rare earth elements and elements, and has the advantages of the ⁇ -sialon as a base material.
- the ct-sialon phosphor of the present invention has excellent chemical, mechanical and thermal properties, is stable as a fluorescent material, can be expected to have a long life, and causes a loss of excited energy.
- the feature is that the thermal relaxation decrease can be suppressed.
- the ⁇ -type sialon phosphor of the present invention uses Ca or the like as a solid solution element, the parathyroid sialon structure is stabilized. Therefore, the transition to the ⁇ , phase is unlikely to occur, and a single-phase material consisting of only the sialon can be easily obtained.
- the ⁇ -sialon phosphor of the present invention has a high luminous efficiency because Ca and the like are solid-dissolved together with the rare earth element serving as the luminescent center, and the luminous efficiency decreases with increasing temperature. It has the advantage that it becomes smaller and the operating temperature range is wider than conventional phosphors.
- Third embodiment Third embodiment
- the ⁇ -sialon according to the third embodiment of the present invention is:
- the mixed powder as the above raw material is blended so as to obtain an ⁇ -type sieve having a desired composition, and the powder is left as a powder or in the form of a granule or a grown J, and a portion in contact with the raw material is nitrided.
- the container is filled with boron and heated to a temperature range of 160 to 200 ° C. If the heating temperature of the mixed powder is lower than 160 ° C, a large amount of unreacted material tends to remain, and if the heating temperature exceeds 2000 ° C, sintering between particles only occurs. However, it is not preferable because thermal decomposition of the raw material of the nitrided silicon and the ⁇ -type silicon port proceeds.
- a preferable range of the synthesis temperature is 170 to 180 ° C.
- the heating time at the above-mentioned heating temperature is preferably about 1 to 20 hours. If the heating time is less than 1 hour, unreacted substances tend to remain, which is not preferable. If the heating time exceeds 20 hours, sintering between particles proceeds excessively and the cost increases, which is not preferable.
- the atmosphere during heating may be nitrogen at normal pressure below 180 ° C, but above 180 ° C, nitrogen is used in order to suppress the thermal decomposition of the raw material of silicon nitride and ⁇ -sialon. A higher pressure is preferred. When the nitrogen pressure exceeds 1 MFa, a large amount of cost is required for the synthesis ⁇ : door, so nitrogen of 1 MPa or less is preferably selected.
- the prototype sialon phosphor can be obtained by pulverizing the thus-produced prototype sialon to a predetermined particle size as required.
- the average primary particle diameter can be set to 1 to 10 m by gentle pulverization of a degree of pulverization. If acid treatment is performed after the treatment to remove the residual fluoride, the emission characteristics of the ⁇ -type sialon phosphor can be improved. As a result, it is possible to reduce the fluorine which is considered to remain in the ⁇ -sialon and obtain an ⁇ -sialon phosphor composed of a high-purity prototype sialon and having excellent fluorescence characteristics.
- a part of the fluorinated lithium can be replaced with an oxidized lithium or a calcium compound which gives oxidized lithium when heated.
- the ratio of calcium fluoride is preferably 10 to 10% Omo 1% (molar ratio of calcium).
- the case where the ratio is 10 O mo 1% is the case of only calcium fluoride.
- the nucleation of ⁇ -type lip at the early stage of synthesis is large. However, it is difficult to increase the primary particle diameter and to suppress sintering between particles, and it may not be possible to sufficiently obtain the effects of the present invention.
- the calcium contained in calcium fluoride is dissolved in the a-type sialon as in the case of oxidizing calcium, and most of the fluorine is combined with other metal elements to form low-boiling compounds and volatilize, but some of them are volatilized. It is thought that it remains in the product as a crystalline phase or an amorphous phase.
- the particle size increases as the proportion of calcium fluoride increases, so that the particle size can be controlled by this proportion in addition to this heat treatment condition. .
- a calcium compound such as gay nitride, aluminum nitride, aluminum oxide, calcium oxide, or an oxide of a rare earth element is used as a raw material and heated.
- a method of reacting has been adopted.
- the surface oxide layer of gay nitride and aluminum nitride reacts at high temperature with the oxidizing power and the oxide of the rare earth element serving as the luminescent center to form a liquid phase, and the liquid phase forms gay nitride.
- the reaction proceeds in such a way that silicon and aluminum nitride are dissolved and redeposited as ⁇ -sialon.
- the liquid phase formation temperature is relatively high, around 150 ° C, and if the synthesis is performed at a higher temperature, the formation of the rhombus, grain growth, and firing will occur. Primary particles tend to bind tightly due to competition was there.
- the ⁇ -sialon according to the third embodiment of the present invention by using calcium fluoride as a part of the raw material and performing grain growth while delaying the nucleation of the ⁇ -sialon. Thus, it is possible to obtain an ⁇ -sialon in which sintering between particles is suppressed as much as possible.
- the present inventors presume the following mechanism.
- the diffusion of the substance is suppressed by the presence of fluorine, and the initial sialon formation is suppressed, but the fluorine is gradually reduced by the treatment at a high temperature.
- a substance with a boiling point is generated and volatilized, so the substance rapidly diffuses.
- the rapid growth of a small number of sialon core particles can produce large ⁇ -sialon particles with a primary particle size exceeding 1 ⁇ m in a relatively low temperature and in a short period of time. Conceivable.
- the ⁇ -type siphon according to the fourth embodiment is
- This manufacturing method is different from the manufacturing method of the mold siphon according to the third embodiment. Is that, instead of calcium fluoride, a fusidic compound of a Group III element or a Group IVA element other than Be, Mg and Ca is added as a fluxing agent.
- the heating temperature, the heating time, the atmosphere, and the like of the mixed powder as a raw material other than the above are the same as those in the method of manufacturing the ⁇ -sialon according to the third embodiment, and thus description thereof will be omitted.
- the ⁇ -sialon phosphor of the fourth embodiment is manufactured by pulverizing the ⁇ -sialon manufactured as described above to a predetermined particle size as necessary and removing a residual flux agent as necessary. be able to.
- the average primary particle diameter can be set to 1 to 10 m by gentle pulverization of a degree of pulverization.
- a raw material comprising an oxide of a rare earth element, a calcium compound such as gay nitride, aluminum nitride, aluminum oxide, calcium oxide, etc. Then, by adding the above-mentioned fluoride as a fluxing agent and heating, the same effect as in the case of using the calcium fluoride raw material can be obtained. This is because each element of the fluxing agent does not form a solid solution in ⁇ -sialon, has no effect on the composition that has a significant effect on the emission characteristics, and the boiling point of these fluorides is This is because the effect as a fluxing agent is sufficiently exhibited at a high temperature higher than the synthesis temperature of the sieve.
