Description

主動式觸控筆
本發明大體上係關於觸碰感測,且更特定而言係關於提供一種可充當電容性觸控系統中之驅動及/或感測元件的觸控筆。

在以下段落中,在介紹本發明之各種例示性實施例之前,首先論述典型電容性觸碰式感測器面板之結構及其與習知被動式觸控筆之互動的簡明描述。

圖1a說明例示性電容性觸碰式感測器面板100。圖1a指示在位於列104及行106的跡線之交叉點處之每一像素102處存在雜散電容Cstray(儘管為了使圖簡化,在圖1a中僅說明一行之Cstray)。請注意,儘管圖1a將列104及行106說明為實質垂直的,但列104及行106不必如此對準。在圖1a之實例中,AC激勵Vstim 114正被施加至一列,而所有其他 列連接至DC。該激勵使得電荷經由交點處之互電容而注入至行電極中。每一行106可選擇性地連接至一或多個類比通道。

圖1c提供處於動態(觸碰)條件之例示性像素102的側視圖。在圖1c中,已接近像素102置放了導電物件112。如圖所展示,導電物件112可為觸控筆。然而,應理解,導電物件112亦可為手指或導電的任何其他事物。導電物件112可為處於信號頻率之低阻抗物件,且可具有自行跡線104至物件之電容Cstylus。導電物件112可具有遠大於Cstylus之至接地的自電容Cbody。若導電物件112阻斷列電極與行電極之間的一些電場線108(脫離介電質且穿過列電極上方之空氣的彼等邊緣場),則彼等電場線可經由導電物件中固有之電容性路徑分路至接地,且結果,穩態信號或互電容Csig可被減小△Csig(其在本文中亦可稱為Csig_sense)。換言之,導電物件之電容可充當至接地之分路或動態返回路徑,從而阻斷電場中之一些並導致減小之淨信號電容。
當將習知觸控筆用作導電物件時,觸控筆之尖端通常經設計成足夠大的以便中斷電場線。實際上,經設計成在電容性觸碰式感測器面板上使用之許多習知觸控筆具有手指大小之尖端。具有小尖端之觸控筆可能不能阻斷足夠多之 電場線,從而使電容性觸碰式感測器面板無法偵測到。
當導電物件充當至接地之分路且阻斷電場線中之一些時,像素處之信號電容變為Csig-△Csig,其中Csig表示靜態(無觸碰)分量,且△Csig表示動態(觸碰)分量。此電容改變可用以偵測在觸碰式感測器面板之特定位置(例如,像素102)處的觸碰。亦可藉由使用如上文所論述之同一方法判定在觸碰式感測器面板之每一像素處是否存在電容改變來在觸碰式感測器面板上同時偵測多個觸碰。
存在上文論述之習知被動式觸控筆的若干缺點。首先,如上文所提及,被動式觸控筆需要具有足夠大的尖端以便中斷來自電容性觸碰式感測器面板之電場。此情形將使得在現有電容性觸碰式感測器面板上使用具有小尖端之觸控筆為較不理想的(若並非不可能)。此外,因為在被動式觸控筆上尖端為相對大的,且可能與觸碰式感測器面板之多個觸控像素重疊,所以觸控筆之觸碰的準確位置可能難以確定。此外,因為被動式觸控筆以與手指或任何其他觸碰物件相同之方式起作用,所以可能不能將被動式觸控筆之觸碰與手指或具有類似大小及形狀之其他物件的觸碰進行區分,因此使得觸碰式感測器面板更難以基於觸碰物件之身分來篩除觸碰。
本發明之實施例介紹各種主動式觸控筆,該等主動式觸控筆可擺脫習知被動式觸控筆之一些或所有缺點,且可在互電容性觸控系統中提供改良之觸控筆感測。如上文所提及,本文中所揭示之主動式觸控筆可充當互電容性觸控系 統中之驅動電極、感測電極或兩者。
首先論述觸控筆可充當驅動電極之實施例。在此等實施例中,觸控筆可充當由激勵信號激勵以與互電容性觸碰式感測器面板之最接近的導電列及/或行電容性地耦合的驅動元件,藉此形成用於將電荷自觸控筆耦合至該最接近的列及/或行的電容路徑。最接近的列及/或行可將表示電荷耦合的信號輸出至感測電路。
圖2說明組態為驅動電極之例示性主動式觸控筆200。觸控筆200可容納連接至在觸控筆之遠端(亦即,尖端)處的電極202的驅動電路204。驅動電路204可產生激勵信號,可自電極202主動地傳輸該激勵信號。
驅動電路204可類似於在現有電容性觸碰式感測器面板中找到之彼等驅動電路。圖3說明根據各種實施例之觸控筆200的例示性驅動電路204。觸控筆驅動電路204可包括時鐘306以提供驅動信號,包括微控制器308以控制驅動信號,及包括放大器310以使時鐘信號增益放大而至尖端電極202。另外,驅動電路204可連接至內建於觸控筆中的電源206,諸如電池。在另一實施例中,可經由連接觸控筆與另一電子器件(諸如,觸碰式感測器件)之纜線或經由電感耦合自該器件中之電源供應電力。

圖4說明經設計以用於與充當驅動電極之主動式觸控筆互動的例示性電容性觸碰式感測器面板400。如所說明,電容性觸碰式感測器面板400可包括感測列(R0至R4)及感測行(C0至C3)。儘管在圖4中說明了五個列及四個行,但應理解,基於(例如)觸碰式感測器面板之大小及觸碰式感測器面板的所要觸控解析度可建置不同數目的感測列及感測行。感測列及感測行可為導電的。感測列及感測行中之每一者可將其電容讀數輸出至一或多個感測電路(統稱為402)以供進一步處理。感測列及感測行可形成於基板之同一表面上、基板之相反表面上,或兩個不同基板的表面上。
圖5說明圖2之主動式觸控筆與圖4之電容性觸碰式感測器面板的感測線之例示性耦合。如所說明,當觸控筆尖端與電容性觸碰式感測器面板400接觸(或緊密接近於電容性觸碰式感測器面板400)時,尖端中之電極202可受到激勵以主動地產生電場線(統稱為404),且形成與電容性觸碰式感測器面板400之感測列406及/或行408的電容耦合。換言 之,可形成用於將電荷自觸控筆200耦合至感測列406及行408的電容路徑。感測列406及行408可將表示電荷耦合的信號輸出至感測電路(圖5中未圖示)。基於從其接收到信號之列及行,可判定觸控筆觸碰的位置。

在一實施例中,觸碰式感測器面板及觸控筆中之驅動電極可經頻率多工,亦即,以不同頻率進行激勵。舉例而言,可以100 kHz驅動觸碰式感測器面板中之驅動線,且可以200 kHz驅動觸控筆中之電極。在另一實施例中,觸碰式感測器面板及觸控筆中之驅動電極可經時間多工,亦 即,在不同時間進行激勵。舉例而言,在將總計16 ms分配用於觸碰式感測器面板感測之觸碰式感測器面板中,15 ms可用於驅動觸碰式感測器面板中的驅動線,且剩餘1 ms可用於驅動觸控筆。使用頻率多工或時間多工,可區別觸控筆之觸控與觸碰式感測器面板上的其他觸碰。多種其他電壓型樣亦可用以將觸控筆與觸碰信號相區分,諸如用於RF通信中的彼等信號。
在具有驅動線及感測線兩者之現有電容性觸碰式感測器面板中,可由混頻器將來自感測線之輸出信號與原始驅動信號之複本混頻,以回應於觸碰產生與驅動線與感測線之間的耦合的電容成比例的DC信號。為了獲得正確DC信號,當由混頻器處理時,來自感測線之輸出信號與原始信號應同相。此情形在驅動線及感測線皆在面板中且可易於同步化的現有觸碰式感測器面板中應不會引起難題。若如在上文所揭示之實施例中一般驅動電極係在觸控筆中,則驅動信號與來自觸碰式感測器面板之感測線的輸出信號之同步可使用包括在以下段落中描述之彼等方法的不同方法來達成。
在一實施例中,觸控筆可藉由纜線實體地連接至觸碰式感測器件。可使用觸碰式感測器件上之現有埠(諸如,音訊插口或30接針插口)來進行連接。在第二實施例中,可經由諸如WiFi及藍芽之無線頻道使觸控筆與觸碰式感測器件同步。在兩項實施例中,可分別經由實體通道或無線頻通使驅動信號與輸出信號同步。

在上文所揭示之實施例中,觸控筆可充當觸碰感測系統中的驅動電極。以下實施例揭示觸控筆可充當感測電極的觸碰感測系統。詳言之,觸控筆可充當與觸碰式感測器面板之最接近的導電列或行電容耦合的感測元件,該導電列或行已被激勵信號激勵。觸控筆可接著將表示電荷耦合之信號輸出至感測電路。

在一實施例中,主動式觸控筆可容納驅動電路及感測電路兩者,且可包括一耦接於兩個電路之間的用於根據觸控筆使用於之系統的要求在驅動與感測之間切換的切換機構。在另一實施例中,觸碰式感測器面板可驅動第一軸線(行或列),且觸控筆可在該第一軸線上收聽。同時,觸控筆可驅動第二軸線,且觸碰式感測器面板可在該第二軸線上收聽。由觸碰式感測器面板及觸控筆擷取之觸碰資料可經組合以判定觸碰位置及其他觸碰相關資料。
以上實施例中揭示之主動式觸控筆可顯著改良觸碰感測系統中的觸控筆感測。因為此等觸控筆可包括經設計以與觸碰式感測器面板之驅動線及/或感測線主動電容性耦合而非阻斷觸碰式感測器面板上之電場線的電極,所以此等觸控筆可具有較小尖端,此情形可使得觸碰感測為更精準的。此外,在能夠判定在表面上偵測到之每一觸碰的區域 之觸碰式感測器面板上,可基於主動式觸控筆之較小觸碰區域而區分主動式觸控筆與其他觸碰物件。
另外,若觸控筆之尖端為小的,則軟體補償可校正觸碰路徑中之「擺動」。當觸碰路徑穿過觸碰式感測器面板上之並非直接在任何感測線上方或緊密接近於任何感測線的點時,可產生此等「擺動」。因為彼等點處之弱電容性耦合,因此由觸碰式感測器面板擷取之觸碰位置可為不準確的。現有的手指操作之觸碰式感測器面板可使用軟體演算法來校正觸碰路徑中的彼等「擺動」。然而,因為不同使用者可具有不同大小之手指,所以通用補償演算法可能不能良好地對來自不同手指之觸碰起作用。比較而言,來自上文揭示之實施例的主動式觸控筆可具有已知點源。因此,軟體補償演算法可經最佳化以對觸控筆之觸碰起作用以更好地減小觸碰路徑中的「擺動」。

  8. 如請求項7之主動式觸控筆,其中接收該解調變信號之該混頻器產生一同相分量;其中接收該經移相解調變信號之該混頻器產生一正交分量;及其中該同相分量及該正交分量經組合以判定與由該電極形成之一電容成比例的一振幅。
  9. 如請求項1之主動式觸控筆,該主動式觸控筆併入至一基於觸碰之輸入系統中,該系統包含:一電容性觸碰式感測器面板,其包括複數個感測線;及耦接至該複數個感測線之一或多個感測通道,該一或多個感測通道經組態以用於偵測該電極與一或多個感測線之間的一電容改變,從而判定該主動式觸控筆於該觸碰式感測器面板上之一觸碰的一位置。
  10. 如請求項9之主動式觸控筆,其中該電極係以一頻率受到激勵以識別該觸控筆之存在。

  13. 如請求項9之主動式觸控筆,其中該主動式觸控筆進一步包含: 一時鐘,其用以產生一驅動電壓;一微控制器,其連接至該時鐘且經組態以控制該驅動電壓;及一放大器,其連接至該微控制器且經組態以調整該驅動電壓。

  15. 如請求項14之主動式觸控筆,其中接收該解調變信號之該混頻器產生一同相分量;其中接收該經移相解調變信號之該混頻器產生一正交分量;及其中該同相分量及該正交分量經組合以判定與由該驅動通道及該感測通道形成之一電容成比例的一振幅。
  16. 如請求項9之主動式觸控筆,其中該電容性觸碰式感測器面板經由一實體纜線及一無線頻道中的一者與該觸控筆通信。
  17. 如請求項9之主動式觸控筆,其中該電容性觸碰式感測 器面板進一步包含經組態以產生一信號的至少一驅動線,該信號可由該等感測通道中之至少一者感測到。
  18. 一種觸控筆觸碰偵測方法,其包含:藉由在該觸控筆中之一帶電電極與一觸碰式感測器面板之間形成一互電容來電容性耦合該帶電電極與該觸碰式感測器面板,以偵測該觸碰式感測器面板上的一觸控筆觸碰。
  19. 如請求項18之方法,其進一步包含:在該帶電電極處產生一激勵信號;及在該觸碰式感測器面板中之一感測線上偵測到一電容性耦合的激勵信號時偵測到該觸碰式感測器面板上的該觸控筆觸碰。
