そして、これらの元のデジタル画像信号(Original Digital Video-R、Original Digital Video-G、およびOriginal Digital Video-R)は、n倍速フィールドシーケンシャルカラー信号生成回路403に供給される。nは、1フレームをn個のサブフレームに分割する場合に用いているnと同値である。n倍速フィールドシーケンシャルカラー信号生成回路403は、R、G、Bに対応する元の画像信号(Original Video-R、Original Video-G、およびOriginal Video-B)をそれぞれ、時間軸に対して1/(3n)倍に圧縮する。そして、時間軸に対して1/(3n)倍に圧縮されたR、G、Bに対応するフィールドシーケンシャルカラー画像信号(R1、G1、B1、R2、G2、B2、・・・・)が、LCDコントローラ404に供給される。これと同時期に、n倍速フィールドシーケンシャルカラー信号生成回路403は、LED点灯回路405に供給する各色のLEDを点灯させるためのLED点灯タイミング信号(R、G、B)を生成する。
本実施例のLCDパネルは、ソース信号線側駆動回路(A)301−1、ソース信号線側駆動回路(B)301−8、ゲイト信号線側駆動回路(A)301−9、ゲイト信号線側駆動回路(B)301−12、および画素マトリクス回路301−13を有している。
およびLED(B)(青色LED)が、ストライプ状に配列されている様子が示されている。本実施例では図8(A)の様なLEDの配置を用いた。

Claims (7)
- n倍速のフィールドシーケンシャル駆動(nは2以上の整数)を行う液晶表示装置であって、
赤、緑、青に対応する第1の画像信号をそれぞれ、時間軸に対して1/(3n)倍に圧縮することにより、赤、緑、青に対応する第2の画像信号を生成する機能を有する回路を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - n倍速のフィールドシーケンシャル駆動(nは2以上の整数)を行う液晶表示装置であって、
導光板と、
LCDパネルと、
赤色の光を発する複数の第1のLEDと、
緑色の光を発する複数の第2のLEDと、
青色の光を発する複数の第3のLEDと、を有し、
前記複数の第1のLED、前記複数の第2のLED、又は前記複数の第3のLEDの発する光が前記導光板により面状の光となり、前記面状の光が前記LCDパネルに照射され、
赤、緑、青に対応する第1の画像信号をそれぞれ、時間軸に対して1/(3n)倍に圧縮することにより、赤、緑、青に対応する第2の画像信号を生成する機能を有する回路を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2において、
前記LCDパネルは、奇数番目のソース信号線に信号を供給する機能を有する第1のソース信号線側駆動回路と、偶数番目のソース信号線に信号を供給する機能を有する第2のソース信号線側駆動回路と、を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2又は請求項3において、
前記LCDパネルは、液晶を有し、
前記液晶は、強誘電性液晶と光重合性の液晶アクリレートモノマーと混合させたのちに紫外光を照射することにより形成されたものであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2又は請求項3において、
前記LCDパネルは、無しきい値反強誘電性液晶を有し、且つ、線順次駆動が行われることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記回路は、LED点灯タイミング信号をLED点灯回路に供給する機能を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項において、
前記回路は、前記第2の画像信号をLCDコントローラに供給する機能を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
