Abstract
【解決手段】光変調素子ユニット3は、入射した光を変調する変調部および該変調部の光入射面を覆うカバーガラス31aを有する光変調素子31と、カバーガラスの表面に沿って配置され、変調部に向かう光を通過させる開口部32aおよび該開口部を通過しない光を遮る遮光部32bを有する遮光部材32と、光変調素子に対してカバーガラスの方向とは異なる方向に設けられた放熱部材36とを有する。遮光部材は、カバーガラスよりも外側に延びて放熱部材と対向する延出部32cを有する。延出部と放熱部材との間の第1のギャップG1を、遮光部とカバーガラスの表面との間の第2のギャップG2よりも小さくする。

なお、上記光変調素子ユニットと、光源からの光を光変調素子に入射させ、該光変調素子で変調された光を被投射面に投射する光学系とを有する画像投射装置も、本発明の他の一側面を構成する。

Claims (9)
- 入射した光を変調する変調部および該変調部の光入射面を覆うカバーガラスを有する光変調素子と、
前記カバーガラスの表面に沿って配置され、前記変調部に向かう光を通過させる開口部および該開口部を通過しない光を遮る遮光部を有する遮光部材と、
前記光変調素子に対して前記カバーガラスの方向とは異なる方向に設けられた放熱部材とを有し、
前記遮光部材は、前記カバーガラスよりも外側に延びて前記放熱部材と対向する延出部を有しており、
前記延出部と前記放熱部材との間の第1のギャップが、前記遮光部と前記カバーガラスの前記表面との間の第2のギャップよりも小さいことを特徴とする光変調素子ユニット。 - 前記放熱部材は、前記カバーガラスよりも外側において前記遮光部材側に突出する凸部を有し、前記延出部が前記凸部に対向しており、
前記延出部と前記凸部との間の前記第1のギャップが、前記遮光部と前記カバーガラスの前記表面との間の第2のギャップよりも小さいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光変調素子ユニット。 - 前記遮光部材は第1の材料により形成されており、
前記第1の材料よりも熱伝導率が高い第2の材料により形成され、前記遮光部材を支持するとともに前記放熱部材に取り付けられる支持部材を有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の光変調素子ユニット。 - 前記遮光部材と前記支持部材とがスポット溶接により接合されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の光変調素子ユニット。
- 前記光変調素子は、前記カバーガラスが設けられた面を正面としたときの側面に相当する部分に接続されて該光変調素子に対して信号を送信する配線を有しており、
前記延出部は、前記光変調素子を挟んで前記配線とは反対側に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4いずれかに記載の光変調素子ユニット。 - 前記第1のギャップにおける温度勾配が、前記第2のギャップにおける温度勾配よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の光変調素子ユニット。
- 入射した光を変調する変調部および該変調部の光入射面を覆うカバーガラスを有する光変調素子と、
前記カバーガラスの表面に沿って配置され、前記変調部に向かう光を通過させる開口部および該開口部を通過しない光を遮る遮光部を有する遮光部材と、
前記光変調素子に対して前記カバーガラスの方向とは異なる方向に設けられた放熱部材とを有し、
前記遮光部材は、前記カバーガラスよりも外側に延びて前記放熱部材と対向する延出部を有しており、
前記延出部と前記放熱部材との間の第1のギャップにおける温度勾配が、前記遮光部と前記カバーガラスの前記表面との間の第2のギャップにおける温度勾配よりも大きいことを特徴とする光変調素子ユニット。 - 請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の光変調素子ユニットと、
光源からの光を前記光変調素子に入射させ、該光変調素子で変調された前記光を被投射面に投射する光学系とを有することを特徴とする画像投射装置。 - 前記光変調素子ユニットに対して空気を流す冷却手段を有し、
前記延出部が、前記カバーガラスよりも前記空気の流れの上流側に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の画像投射装置。
