This indicates that the residual stress is a tensile stress on the inner surface and converts to a compressive stress as the distance from the inner surface increases.
- the residual stress in the case where the inner surface shown in the measured value a is polished has a negative value larger in absolute value on the inner surface of the tubular member 10 than in the case where the inner surface shown in the measured value b is not polished
- the absolute value decreases with the distance from the inner surface, it saturates at an almost constant negative value. This indicates that the absolute value of the residual stress on the inner surface is larger than when the inner surface is not polished, and the residual stress is a compressive stress regardless of the distance from the inner surface.
- compressive residual stress can be appropriately applied to the inner surface by polishing the inner surface of the tubular member 10.

- the surface roughness is measured at four points of the upper portion 10a, the lower portion 10b, the inner side 10c and the outer side 10d of the inner wall of the tubular member 10 at each of the first position P1 to the fifth position P5 shown in FIG. It went in each case without grinding.
- the inner side 10c and the outer side 10d are defined according to the bending direction of the tubular member 10 at the second position P2 and the fourth position P4 of the bending portion, and the first position P1, the third position P3 and the third position P of the straight portion to be connected
- the inner and outer sides of the five positions P5 are set in the same direction.
- FIG. 11 is a graph showing an average value of measurement results (maximum height roughness) of surface roughness in Example 2. Comparing the broken line with the polishing and the broken line without the polishing, the surface roughness was lowered from the first position P1 to the fifth position P5 by the polishing. The average value of the surface roughness (maximum height roughness) is 10 ⁇ m or more without polishing, whereas no position exceeds 10 ⁇ m with or without polishing.
- FIG. 12 is a graph showing the measurement results of the surface roughness (maximum height roughness) of Example 2 according to the shape of the tubular member. It can be seen that the width of the maximum height roughness from the minimum value to the maximum value is narrowed by the comparison of the presence and absence of the polishing. The width from the minimum value to the maximum value of the maximum height roughness exceeds 10 ⁇ m at the bend without polishing, but does not exceed 10 ⁇ m regardless of the shape of the tubular member with polishing.
- FIG. 13 is a graph showing the measurement results of residual stress in Example 2 according to the shape of the tubular member.
- polishing is performed according to the shapes of the tubular members of the straight portions at the first position P1, the third position P3 and the fifth position P5, and the bent portions at the second position P2 and the fourth position P4.
- the average value of the residual stress in each case without and with polishing is shown.
- compressive residual stress is applied to the inner surface regardless of the shape of the tubular member of the straight portion or the bent portion.
- the tubular member 10 in order to flow and polish the polishing medium in the tube of the tubular member 10, the tubular member 10 is uniformly polished regardless of whether it is a straight portion or a bent portion. For this reason, regardless of the shape of the tubular member of the straight portion or the bent portion, compressive residual stress is applied over the entire inner surface.
- Example 2 in the same manner as in Example 1, the polishing medium was flowed into the tube of the tubular member 10 to uniformly polish the inner surface. This resulted in an average surface roughness value of less than 10 ⁇ m over the entire inner surface of the tubular member 10 and / or compressive residual stress was applied over the entire inner surface. Therefore, similarly to the first embodiment, the hollow stabilizer of the second embodiment also increases the number of times of endurance against repeated bending, and improves the fatigue life.
- the present invention can be used for a hollow spring used in a vehicle such as a car and a method of manufacturing the same.
