中でも好ましくは、Z1及びZ2はそれぞれ独立して、-O-、-CO-、-COO-、-OCO-、-CH=CH-、-C≡C-、-N=N-及び単結合からなる群から選択される基である。
a1及びa2は、それぞれ独立して、0乃至3の整数を表し、且つa1+a2≦4である。
但し-A-S2-R3基又は-E-S1-B-R3基において、R3に直接結合する基がカルボニル基、酸素原子、硫黄原子又は窒素原子となる基は除かれる(なおE、S1、Bが同時に単結合を表すことはない)。
R3は前記一般式(1)で表されるイソシアネート化合物のイソシアネート基と反応する基であり、下記に定義されるように、一般式(2)-a又は(2)-bにおいて、R3以外の基の定義に、上記R3に定義する基は含まれない。

3-(4-〔6-[2-(メタクリロイルオキシ)エチルカルバモイルオキシ]ヘキシルオキシ〕フェニル)プロパ-2-エン酸メチル[CIN1]の合成(2)
窒素雰囲気下、3-〔4-[(6-ヒドロキシヘキシル)オキシ]フェニル〕プロペン酸メチル[1](511.6g、1.837mol)とジブチルスズジラウレート(0.1386g、0.2195mmol)と、ジブチルヒドロキシトルエン(略称BHT)(2.834g、0.01286mol)と、アセトニトリル2345gを4つ口フラスコへ加え、63℃まで加温した。その後、2-イソシアナトエチルメタクリレート[2](299.8g、1.932mol)を滴下していき、滴下終了2時間後に高速液体クロマトグラフィー(略称HPLC)にて原料消失を確認した。その後内温が5℃になるまで冷却し1時間攪拌した後に析出した結晶をろ過した。ろ取した結晶を、2℃に冷却させたトルエン867.0gで2回ケーキ洗浄し、その後乾燥させ、3-(4-〔6-[2-(メタクリロイルオキシ)エチルカルバモイルオキシ]ヘキシルオキシ〕フェニル)プロパ-2-エン酸メチル[CIN1]を得た(620.4g、1.431mol、収率77.9%)。
化合物[CIN1]の構造は、1H-NMR分析により実施例1と同等のスペクトルデータを示した。
化合物[CIN2]の構造は、1H-NMR分析により以下のスペクトルデータを得て確認した。

<CIN1を用いた共重合体の製造>
上記実施例1で得たCIN1 40.0g、2-ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート(HEMA)10.0g、重合触媒としてα,α’-アゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN)1.2gをプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル(PM)204.8gに溶解し、85℃にて20時間反応させることにより共重合体溶液(固形分濃度20質量%)を得た。得られた共重合体のゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィー(GPC)により、標準試料としてポリスチレンを用いて得られる数平均分子量:Mnは6,500、重量平均分子量:Mwは12,000であった。
例A:
上記共重合体溶液を5g、ポリエステルポリオール(アジピン酸/ジエチレングリコール共重合体、数平均分子量:4,800)を0.8g、ヘキサメトキシメチルメラミンを1.0g、p-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物を0.1g、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルを41.4g混合し、例Aの硬化膜形成組成物を調製した。
例B:
ポリエステルポリオールの添加量を1.5gとし、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルの添加量を52.4gとした以外は、例Aと同様の手順にて、例Bの硬化膜形成組成物を調製した。
例C:
ポリエステルポリオールに替えてポリカプロラクトントリオール(数平均分子量:2,000)を0.8g添加した以外は、例Aと同様の手順にて、例Cの硬化膜形成組成物を調製した。
例A乃至例Cの各硬化膜形成組成物をTACフィルム上にスピンコータを用いて2000rpmで30秒間回転塗布した後、温度110℃で120秒間、熱循環式オーブン中で加熱乾燥を行い、硬化膜を形成した。この硬化膜に313nmの直線偏光を垂直に20mJ/cm2照射した。
露光後の硬化膜の上にメルク株式会社製の水平配向用重合性液晶溶液RMS03-013Cを、スピンコータを用いて塗布し、次いで、60℃で60秒間ホットプレート上においてプリベークを行い、膜厚1.0μmの塗膜を形成した。このフィルム上の塗膜を1000mJ/cm2で露光し、位相差材を作製した。
得られたフィルム上の位相差材にカッターナイフを用いてクロスカット(1mm×1mm×100マス)を入れ、その後、ニチバン(株)製セロテープ(登録商標)を貼り付け、次いで、そのセロテープ(登録商標)を剥がした時に基板上の膜が剥がれず残っているマス目の個数をカウントした。膜が剥がれず残っているマス目が90個以上残っているものは、密着性が良好であると評価できる。
例A乃至例Cの各硬化膜形成組成物をTACフィルム上にスピンコータを用いて2000rpmで30秒間回転塗布した後、温度110℃で120秒間、熱循環式オーブン中で加熱乾燥を行い、硬化膜を形成した。この硬化膜に313nmの直線偏光を垂直に照射し、配向材を形成した。
フィルム上の配向材の上に、メルク株式会社製の水平配向用重合性液晶溶液RMS03-013Cを、スピンコータを用いて塗布し、次いで、60℃で60秒間ホットプレート上においてプリベークを行い、膜厚1.0μmの塗膜を形成した。このフィルム上の塗膜を1000mJ/cm2で露光し、位相差材を作製した。
作製したフィルム上の位相差材をフィルムごと一対の偏光板で挟み込み、位相差材における位相差特性の発現状況を観察し、配向材が液晶配向性を示すのに必要な偏光UVの露光量を配向感度とした。
例A乃至例Cの各硬化膜形成組成物をTACフィルム上にスピンコータを用いて2000rpmで30秒間回転塗布した後、温度110℃で120秒間、熱循環式オーブン中で加熱乾燥を行い、硬化膜を形成した。この硬化膜に100μmのラインアンドスペースマスクを介し、313nmの直線偏光を30mJ/cm2垂直に照射した。次いでマスクを取り外し、基板を90度回転させた後、313nmの直線偏光を15mJ/cm2垂直に照射し、液晶の配向制御方向が90度異なる2種類の液晶配向領域が形成された配向材を得た。
このフィルム上の配向材の上に、メルク株式会社製の水平配向用重合性液晶溶液RMS03-013Cを、スピンコータを用いて塗布し、次いで、60℃で60秒間ホットプレート上においてプリベークを行い、膜厚1.0μmの塗膜を形成した。このフィルム上の塗膜を1000mJ/cm2で露光し、パターン化位相差材を作製した。
作製したフィルム上のパターン化位相差材を、偏光顕微鏡を用いて観察し、配向欠陥なく位相差パターンが形成されているものを○、配向欠陥が見られるものを×として評価した。
例A乃至例Cの各硬化膜形成組成物をTACフィルム上にスピンコータを用いて2000rpmで30秒間回転塗布した後、温度110℃で120秒間、熱循環式オーブン中で加熱乾燥を行い、硬化膜を形成した。この硬化膜に313nmの直線偏光を垂直に20mJ/cm2照射した。
露光後のフィルム上にメルク株式会社製の水平配向用重合性液晶溶液RMS03-013Cを、スピンコータを用いて塗布し、次いで、60℃で60秒間ホットプレート上においてプリベークを行い、膜厚1.0μmの塗膜を形成した。このフィルムを1000mJ/cm2で露光し、位相差材を作製した。
位相差材が形成されたフィルムを温度80℃、湿度90%の条件で100時間保管後、フィルム上の位相差材にカッターナイフを用いてクロスカット(1mm×1mm×100マス)を入れ、その後、セロテープ(登録商標)を貼り付け、次いで、そのセロテープ(登録商標)を剥がした時に基板上の膜が剥がれず残っているマス目の個数をカウントした。100時間保管前に評価した初期の密着性と違いがないものは耐久性が良好であると評価できる。

Eは、酸素原子、硫黄原子、-C(R5)R6-、-NH-、-NR7-(式中、R5及びR6は、それぞれ独立して、水素原子又は炭素原子数1乃至20の環状、直鎖状若しくは分岐鎖状のアルキル基(当該アルキル基は非置換であるか、シアノ基により及び/若しくはハロゲン原子により一置換若しくは多置換されていてもよく、ここで該アルキル基において、1つ以上の隣接していない-CH2-基は、それぞれ独立して前記基G1に置換されていてもよい)を表し、R7は上記に示したとおりである)を表し、
S1は、独立して、前記S3で定義されたものと同じ基を表し、
Bは単結合を表すか、又は独立して前記Aで定義されたものと同じ基を表し、
Dは、水素原子、-Si(CH3)3、-Si(CH3)2-O-Si(CH3)3又は炭素原子数1乃至20の環状、直鎖状若しくは分岐鎖状のアルキル基(当該アルキル基は非置換であるか、シアノ基、フッ素原子、塩素原子及び脂環式基からなる群から選択される基により、一置換又は多置換されていてもよく、ここで該アルキル基において、1つ以上の隣接しない-CH2-基は、それぞれ独立して前記基G1により代えられていてもよい)を表し、
但しA、B、D、E、S1、S2、X、Yの組み合わせにおいて、R3に示す基が含まれることはない。]
で表される光反応性化合物とを反応させることを特徴とする、
下記一般式(3)-a又は(3)-b
R1、R2、S3、S2、A、X、Y、E、S1、B、D及びnは上記に示したとおりであり、
nが1の場合、
R4は、単結合、-CH2-、-CHR7-、-C(R7)2-(式中、R7は上記に示したとおりであり、同一炭素原子上に2つのR7が結合している場合は、2つのR7は互いに同一でも異なっていてもよい)、酸素原子、硫黄原子、-NH-又はNR7-(式中、R7は上記に示したとおりである)を表し、
nが2の場合、
R4は、3価の窒素原子、3価のCHまたは3価のCR7(式中、R7は上記に示したとおりである)を表し、
但し-A-S2-R4-基又は-E-S1-B-R4-基において、R4に直接結合する基がカルボニル基、酸素原子、硫黄原子又は窒素原子となる基は除かれるものである(但しE、S1、Bが同時に単結合を表すことはない)。]

S3は単結合を表すか、又は、非置換の又はシアノ基により及び/若しくはハロゲン原子により一置換若しくは多置換されている炭素原子数1乃至10の環状、直鎖状若しくは分岐鎖状のアルキレン基(ここで当該アルキレン基における1つ以上の隣接していない-CH2-基は、それぞれ独立して請求項5に記載の基G1に置換されていてもよい)を表し、
前記一般式(2)-a又は(2)-bにおいて、
S2は単結合を表すか、又は、非置換の又はシアノ基により及び/若しくはハロゲン原子により一置換若しくは多置換されている炭素原子数1乃至20の環状、直鎖状若しくは分岐鎖状のアルキレン基(ここで当該アルキレン基における1つ以上の隣接していない-CH2-基は、それぞれ独立して請求項5に記載の基G1又は請求項5に記載の一般式(Q)で表される基に置換されていてもよい)を表し、
Aは下記群3に示す基(式中、-は隣接基との接続結合を示し、Meはメチル基を表し、R7は請求項5に示したとおりである)から選択される、炭素原子数2乃至18の脂肪族環基、芳香環基、又は複素環基から選ばれる2価の基を表し、
- 前記一般式(1)において、
R2は-O-又は-NH-を表し、
前記一般式(2)-a又は(2)-bにおいて、
一般式(Q)中のC1及びC2は、それぞれ独立して、1,2-フェニレン基、1,3-フェニレン基、1,4-フェニレン基、1,2-シクロへキシレン基、1,3-シクロへキシレン基又は1,4-シクロへキシレン基を表し、
Aは下記群4に示す基(式中、-は隣接基との接続結合を示す)から選択される、炭素原子数2乃至18の脂肪族環基、芳香環基、及び複素環基から選ばれる2価の基を表し、
請求項6に記載のアクリル化合物又はメタクリル化合物の製造方法。 - 前記一般式(2)-a又は(2)-bにおいて、
一般式(Q)中のZ1及びZ2は、それぞれ独立して、-O-、-CO-、-COO-、-OCO-、-CH=CH-、-C≡C-、-N=N-及び単結合からなる群から選択される基を表し;
X及びYは、それぞれ独立して、水素原子、メチル基又はシアノ基を表し、
Eは、酸素原子、硫黄原子、-C(R5)R6-、-NH-又は-NR7-(式中、R5及びR6は、それぞれ独立して、水素原子又は炭素原子数1乃至10の環状、直鎖状若しくは分岐鎖状のアルキル基(当該アルキル基は非置換であるか、シアノ基により及び/若しくはハロゲン原子により一置換若しくは多置換されていてもよく、ここで該アルキル基において、1つ以上の隣接していない-CH2-基は、それぞれ独立して請求項5に記載の基G1に置換されていてもよい)を表し、R7は上記に示したとおりである)を表し、
