(57)【要約】 【目的】 本発明はツーピースボールの打球感を糸巻き
ゴルフボールに近づけることを目的とする。 【構成】 基剤ゴム、共架橋剤および有機過酸化物を含
有するゴム組成物から形成されたコアと、カバーとから
なるツーピースゴルフボールにおいて、該コアがＪＩＳ
−Ｃ型硬度計による表示において以下の硬度分布を有
し、 中心硬度 ：５８〜７３ 中心から５〜１０mmでの硬度：６５〜７５ 中心から１５mmでの硬度 ：７４〜８２ 表面硬度 ：７６〜８４ ［硬度分布において、硬度〜がそれぞれの硬度範囲
内でほぼ一定で、かつ、巾が±３であり、＜＜≦
なる関係を満足する］ かつ、初荷重１０kgから終荷重１３０kgをかけた時の圧
縮変形量３.５〜４.３mmを有し、該カバーが２.１〜２.

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、ツーピースゴルフボー
ル、さらに詳しくは打球感に優れたツーピースゴルフボ
ールに関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】ツーピースゴルフボールは、優れた飛行
性能のために広く受け入れられている。しかし打球感
（フィーリング）は、糸巻きゴルフボールに比べて硬
く、特にミスショット時にはより硬い感触を与えるとい
う問題があり、フィーリングの優れたツーピースゴルフ
ボールが望まれている。
【０００３】最近、この打球感を糸巻きゴルフボールの
それに近づけるために種々の努力がなされている。例え
ば、ツーピースゴルフボールのコアを柔らかくしてボー
ル全体の硬度を柔らかくし、打球感を改善しようとする
ものである。しかし、この方法で得られたゴルフボール
は、コアの硬度分布の概念が欠けており、柔らかさがあ
るものの重い感じがあり、必ずしも糸巻きゴルフボール
に近い感触とは言い難い。
【０００４】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】本発明ではツーピース
ゴルフボールのコアの特性およびカバーの厚みをコント
ロールすることにより、糸巻きゴルフボールにより近い
打球感を有するツーピースゴルフボールを提供する。
【０００５】本発明者らは、ツーピースゴルフボールに
おいて、コアの硬度分布、圧縮強度およびカバーの厚み
に着目し、種々研究を重ねた。その結果、コアの硬度分
布を外剛内柔にし、コアの圧縮強度を調整し、カバー厚
みを２.１〜２.８mmとし、この両者を最適化することに
より、カバーの硬さを感じることなく、コアの軽さと適
度な柔らかさを感じられるようになり、ソフトで軽い、
打球感の優れた、さらには、従来より優れた飛距離を有
するツーピースゴルフボールが得られることを見い出し
た。
【０００６】
【課題を解決するための手段】すなわち、本発明は、基
材ゴム、共架橋剤および有機過酸化物を含有するゴム組
成物から形成されたコアと、カバーとからなるツーピー
スゴルフボールにおいて、該コアがＪＩＳ−Ｃ型硬度計
による表示において以下の硬度分布を有し、 中心硬度 ：５８〜７３ 中心から５〜１０mmでの硬度：６５〜７５ 中心から１５mmでの硬度 ：７４〜８２ 表面硬度 ：７６〜８４ ［硬度分布において、硬度が硬度範囲内でほぼ一定
で、かつ、巾が±３であり、その他が＜＜≦な
る関係を満足する］ かつ、初荷重１０kgから終荷重１３０kgをかけた時の圧
縮変形量３.５〜４.３ｍｍを有し、該カバーが２．１〜
２.８mmの厚さを有することを特徴とするツーピースゴ
ルフボールを提供する。
【０００７】本発明に用いる基材ゴムとしては、従来か
らツーピースコアに用いられている天然ゴムおよび／ま
たは合成ゴムを使用することができる。特に、シス構造
を少なくとも４０％以上有するシス−１,４−ポリブタ
ジエンゴムが好ましく、所望により、前記ポリブタジエ
ンゴムに天然ゴム、ポリイソプレンゴム、スチレンブタ
ジエンゴム、ＥＰＤＭ等を適宜配合してもよい。
【０００８】共架橋剤は特に限定するものではなく、例
えば、不飽和カルボン酸の金属塩、特に炭素数３〜８の
もの（例えばアクリル酸、メタクリル酸等）の一価また
は二価の金属塩が挙げられるが、アクリル酸亜鉛が特に
好ましい。共架橋剤の配合量は基材ゴム１００重量部に
対して２０〜３５重量部、好ましくは２０〜３０重量部
である。２０重量部より少ないと、ボールの硬度が不足
し、重くて悪いフィーリングとなり、耐久性も悪くな
る。３５重量部を越えると硬くなり過ぎて悪いフィーリ
ングとなる。
【０００９】有機過酸化物としては、ジクミルパーオキ
サイド、ジ−ｔ−ブチルパーオキサイドが挙げられる
が、ジクミルパーオキサイドが特に好ましい。その配合
量は基材ゴム１００重量部に対して０.５〜５.０重量
部、好ましくは１.０〜３.０重量部である。０.５重量
部より少ないとボールの硬度が不足し、重くて悪いフィ
ーリングとなり、５.０重量部を越えると硬くなりすぎ
て悪いフィーリングとなる。
【００１０】本発明のゴルフボールに用いるゴム組成物
には、必要に応じて、充填剤、酸化防止剤等の添加物を
配合してもよい。充填剤の例としては、酸化亜鉛、硫酸
バリウム等が一般的であり、その配合量はカバーおよび
コアの比重、大きさ等に左右され、特に限定的ではない
が、通常、基材ゴム１００重量部に対して１０〜４０重
量部である。
【００１１】前記ゴム組成物を十分に混練し、型内で加
硫成形することによりツーピースゴルフボール用コアが
形成される。混練条件及び加硫条件は当業者に公知であ
るが、例えば加硫は通常１４０〜１８０℃の温度で１５
〜５５分間行なわれる。
【００１２】本発明のゴルフボールのコアは、その硬度
分布が、ＪＩＳ−Ｃ型硬度計による表示において、中
心で５８〜７３、中心から５〜１０m/mの間で６５〜
７５で、中心から１５m/mで７４〜８２、表面で７
６〜８４の条件を満たすのが好ましい。特に、硬度は
硬度にばらつきがなくほぼ一定で巾は±３以内である。
このように硬度分布を特定する技術は特開昭６０−９０
５７５号公報に記載されている。
【００１３】硬度分布が前記範囲より低い場合、耐久性
が低下し、また、柔らかすぎて重いフィーリングとな
る。硬度が前記範囲より高い場合、打撃時の衝撃力が大
きくて悪いフィーリングとなる。硬度分布がコア表面ほ
ど高くなる場合、衝撃力が本発明より大きく、ソフトな
フィーリングに劣り、本発明におけるように平坦部をも
つ硬度分布では、衝撃力が小さく、ソフトなフィーリン
グのものが得られる。
【００１４】また、該コアに初荷重１０kgから終荷重１
３０kgをかけた時の圧縮変形量が３.５〜４.３mmである
ことが必要である。この圧縮変形量は主に前記不飽和カ
ルボン酸の金属塩の配合量によりコントロールすること
ができるが、他の薬品の配合量および加硫条件等によっ
てもコントロールできる。いずれの方法でコントロール
したとしても、コアの変形量が４.３mmを越えると、反
撥係数が低下し飛行性能が劣る。基本的には、ボールが
柔らかすぎて、重く、たよりのないフィーリングとな
り、耐久性も低い。逆に変形量が３.５mmよりも小さい
場合には硬く、悪いフィーリングとなる。
【００１５】かくして得られたゴルフボールのコアに厚
さ２.１〜２.８mmのカバーを被覆することによりツーピ
ースゴルフボールが得られる。カバーとしては通常アイ
オノマー樹脂を主材とし、必要により、着色の目的で充
填剤（例えば、二酸化チタン、硫酸バリウム等）を含有
させたものが使用される。カバーの厚さが２.１mmより
薄くなるとスピンがかかりすぎて飛行性能が劣り、ま
た、フィーリング面でも柔らかすぎてたよりなく、ワン
ピースボールの感触に近づき好ましくない。２.８mmを
越えると硬く、重く、悪いフィーリングとなる。
【００１６】本発明では、カバーの曲げ剛性率を３００
０〜４５００kg/cm2に設定するのが好ましい。３０００
kg/cm2より小さい場合はカバーが柔らかくなるため、フ
ィーリング面でも柔らかく、重く、たよりのないものと
なる。逆に４５００kg/cm2を越えると硬く、重いフィー
リングとなる。
【００１７】アイオノマー樹脂をカバーに被覆する方法
は公知であり、一般的には射出成型を用いて行なわれ
る。
【００１８】
【実施例】つぎに、本発明を実施例により詳細に説明す
る。本発明はこれらの実施例に限定されるものではな
い。 実施例１〜６および比較例１〜４ 表１に示すコア配合を混練してゴム組成物を得た。この
ゴム組成物を型内で表１に示す条件で加硫成形した。得
られたコアの硬度分布および圧縮強度を表１に示す。
【００１９】表１に示すカバーの配合で常法により得た
カバーを前記コアに被覆した。その時のカバーの曲げ剛
性および厚さを表１に示す。
【００２０】得られたツーピースゴルフボールの硬度
（ＰＡＧ表示）、耐久性指数、反撥係数、打出角、スピ
ン、キャリー等の飛行特性、およびフィーリング評価を
表２に示す。

【００２３】１．アイオノマー樹脂１００重量部に対
し、酸化チタン（ＴiＯ2）を２重量部加えて、押出機に
よりカラーリングしてカバー用組成物を調製した。 ２．曲げ剛性：東洋精機社製スティフネステスターによ
り測定した。測定サンプルは、プレス成形にて平板を作
成し、プレス後、２３℃、湿度５０％で２週間放置した
後に測定した。

【００２６】１．耐久性指数：実施例１の耐衝撃回数を
１００として示す。なお、耐衝撃回数は、ゴルフボール
打撃試験機（ツルーテンパー社製スイングロボット）
で、ボールを４５m／sの速度で打ち出し、破壊が生じる
までの回数を示す。 ２．４５m／s Ｗ１フライト（飛行特性）：前記ゴルフ
ボール打撃試験機を用い、ボールをＷ１（ウッド１番ク
ラブ）で４５m／sにてテストを行った時の値を示す。
【００２７】表１および表２の結果から明らかなよう
に、実施例１〜６のボールは、軽くソフトで、フィーリ
ングが良く、糸巻きボールにより近い。また、耐久性、
飛行性能共に良好である。比較例１のボールは、コア圧
縮強度が小さく（４.６mm）、ボールの硬度が低く、柔
らかすぎて重く、たよりない悪いフィーリングである。
また、耐久性は低い。比較例２のボールは、コア圧縮強
度が小さく（３.３５mm）、ボールの硬度が高く、硬く
て悪いフィーリングである。比較例３のボールは、カバ
ーが薄く、ワンピースボールの感触に近づき、柔らかく
て重いフィーリングである。また、スピンがかかりやす
くなり、フライト性能に劣り、耐久性も悪い。比較例４
のボールは、カバーが厚いため、やや硬くて重く、悪い
フィーリングである。

【発明の効果】本発明のツーピースゴルフボールは、そ
の打球感が糸巻きゴルフボールの感覚に近く、しかもそ
の飛行性能はツーピースボール本来の性能を有してお
り、ゴルフボールとしては飛行性能および打球感共に優
れたものである。

  1. 【請求項１】 基材ゴム、共架橋剤および有機過酸化物
    を含有するゴム組成物から形成されたコアと、カバーと
    からなるツーピースゴルフボールにおいて、該コアがＪ
    ＩＳ−Ｃ型硬度計による表示において以下の硬度分布を
    有し、 中心硬度 ：５８〜７３ 中心から５〜１０mmでの硬度：６５〜７５ 中心から１５mmでの硬度 ：７４〜８２ 表面硬度 ：７６〜８４ ［硬度分布において、硬度が硬度範囲内でほぼ一定
    で、かつ、巾が±３であり、その他が＜＜≦な
    る関係を満足する］ かつ、初荷重１０kgから終荷重１３０kgをかけた時の圧
    縮変形量３.５〜４.３mmを有し、該カバーが２.１〜２.
    ８mmの厚さを有することを特徴とするツーピースゴルフ
