Description
陽極および陰極からなる1対の電極と、該1対の電極間に挟持された有機化合物を含む複数の有機物層を有する有機EL素子において、
前記複数の有機物層とは、少なくとも、発光層と、前記発光層の陽極側界面に接した別の有機物層を含み、
前記発光層に、
(1)ホスト材料と、
(2)発光材料と、
(3)前記別の有機物層の発光層界面側を構成する化合物と比較して、イオン化ポテン シャルが小さく、かつ、ホール移動度が同程度かまたは速い、別の材料
を少なくとも有し、
前記別の材料のイオン化ポテンシャルが、前記発光材料のイオン化ポテンシャルよりも小さく、
前記発光材料のバンドギャップが、前記ホスト材料と前記別の材料の、いずれのバンドギャップよりも小さく、
前記ホスト材料のイオン化ポテンシャルが、発光材料のイオン化ポテンシャルよりも大きく、
前記別の材料は、前記別の有機物層の発光層界面側を構成する化合物とは異なる材料である
ことを特徴とする有機EL素子。
デバイスを構成する有機層(ホール注入層、ホール輸送層、電子輸送層、発光層など)には、必要に応じてこれまで知られている材料を使用することができる。
図7に示す構造の有機EL素子を以下に示す方法で作成した。
発光層を、DPyFLとs−DTAB2の共蒸着(濃度比90:10)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層を、DPyFLとs−DTAB2とαNPDの共蒸着(濃度比75:10:15)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層を、DPyFLとs−DTAB2とDFLDPBiの共蒸着(濃度比75:10:15)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層のホール輸送層側15nmを、DPyFLとs−DTAB2とTFLFLの共蒸着(濃度比75:10:15)とし、その次に、DPyFLとs−DTAB2の共蒸着(濃度比90:10)の共蒸着層10nmに変更した以外は実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層のホール輸送層側15nmを、DPyFLとs−DTAB2の共蒸着(濃度比90:10)とし、その次に、DPyFLとs−DTAB2とTFLFLの共蒸着(濃度比75:10:15)の共蒸着層10nmに変更した以外は実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
電子輸送材料を2,9−ビス[2−(9,9−ジメチルフルオレニル)]フェナントロリンに変更した以外は実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層を、DPyFLとst−BTAB2とTFLFLの共蒸着(濃度比75:10:15)に変更した以外は、実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層を、t−DPyFLとBDT3FLとTFLFLの共蒸着(濃度比80:10:10)に変更し、電子輸送材料を2,9−ビス[2−(9,9−ジメチルフルオレニル)]フェナントロリンにした以外は、実施例1と同じ素子を作成した。
発光層を、t−DPyFLとBDT3FLの共蒸着(濃度比90:10)に変更した以外は、実施例5と同じ素子を作成した。

Claims (2)
- 陽極および陰極からなる1対の電極と、該1対の電極間に挟持された有機化合物を含む複数の有機物層を有する有機EL素子において、
前記複数の有機物層とは、少なくとも、発光層と、前記発光層の陽極側界面に接した別の有機物層を含み、
前記発光層に、
(1)ホスト材料と、
(2)発光材料と、
(3)前記別の有機物層の発光層界面側を構成する化合物と比較して、イオン化ポテン シャルが小さく、かつ、ホール移動度が同程度かまたは速い、別の材料
を少なくとも有し、
前記別の材料のイオン化ポテンシャルが、前記発光材料のイオン化ポテンシャルよりも小さく、
前記発光材料のバンドギャップが、前記ホスト材料と前記別の材料の、いずれのバンドギャップよりも小さく、
前記ホスト材料のイオン化ポテンシャルが、発光材料のイオン化ポテンシャルよりも大きく、
前記別の材料は、前記別の有機物層の発光層界面側を構成する化合物とは異なる材料であることを特徴とする有機EL素子。 - 前記別の材料を、前記発光層の少なくとも陽極側に有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機EL素子。
