Die obigen Verbindungen können erfindungsgemäß dadurch
hergestellt werden, daß man ein Alkaliderivat einer Verbindung

entsprechend, worin M für ein beliebiges Alkalimetall und R* für
ein salzbildendes Kation oder einen niedrigeren Alkylrest stehen. Die.Herstellung erfolgt auf übliche Weise in situ, indem/lsobuttersäure
oder ein Salz oder einen Ester dieser Säure mit einer starken Base umsetzt. Als Beispiele für derartige starke
Basen seien erwähnt? Triphenylmethide, Alkalihydride, Alkaliamide und Alkali-tert.-alkoxide. Bevorzugt als starke Basen
sind für diesen Zweck Lithiumamide der allgemeinen Formel ·
(niedr.Alkyl)2N Li
insbesondere Lithiumdimethylamid und Lithiumdiisopropylamid. Als Lösungsmittel für die Reaktion eignen sich u.a. wasserfreie
polare Lösungsmittel, wie Tetrahydrofuran, Tetrahydropyran, Dirnethoxyäthan, Diäthylenglykoldimethylather und Dirnethylsulfoxid.
Bei niedrigeren Temperaturen ist Tetrahydrofuran als Lösungsmittel bevorzugt, während sich Diäthylenglykoldimethylather
in erster Linie für höhere Temperaturen eignet. Das Lösungsmittel kann auch Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Pentan, Heptan,
Benzol "oder Toluol,' enthalten. Die Reaktionsteilnehmer können in äquimolaren Mengen verwendet werden, obwohl es manchmal
zweckmäßiger ist, das Aryloxyalkylhalogenid im Überschuß anzuwenden, vor allem dann, wenn Natriumhydrid und ähnliche Basen
anwesend sind. Zeit und Temperatur der Reaktion hängen von den jeweils" verwendeten Reaktionsmitteln ab. Der Temperaturbereich
liegt zwischen etwa -50 und +175°C und die Reaktionszeit zwischen 1 Stunde und 5 Tagen. Gemäß einer bevorzugten Durchfüh-

rungsform erfolgt die Reaktion nach Bildung des Alkaliderivates mit Lithiumamid bei einer Temperatur zwischen 0 und 30 C innerhalb
4 bis 12 Stunden. Nach Ablauf der Reaktionsperiode wird das%Produkt isoliert, vorzugsweise nachdem das Gemisch mit Wasser
hydrolysiert wurde. Wenn R* für ein Erdalkalimetall, wie
Magnesium, steht, ist eine saure Hydrolyse bevorzugt, um die Bildung von unlöslichem Magnesiumhydroxyd zu vermeiden. Die erfindungsgemäßen

In den obigen Formeln haben η und Ar die obige Bedeutung. Die
niederen Alkanole und ihre reaktionsfähigen Derivate dienen als Veresterungsmittel. Einige Beispiele für geeignete reaktionsfähige
Derivate der Carbonsäure sind das Säureanhydrid, die Säurehalogenide und die Alkalisalze der Säure. Einige Beispiele
für geeignete reaktionsfähige Derivate von niederen Alkanolen sind verschiedene Ester, wie Methylbromid, Methyl-, Äthyl- oder .
Propyljodid, Dimethylsulfat und-Diäthylsulfat. Andere reaktionsfähige
Derivate, wie Diazomethan, können ebenfalls verwendet werden.

Wenn das Veresterungsmittel ein niederes Alkanol ist, wird das Verfahren vorzugsweise so durchgeführt, daß man die freie
Säure oder ihr Anhydrid oder Halogenid mit dem niederen Alkanol
im Überschuß erwärmt. Bei Verwendung der freien Säure oder ihres Anhydrids sollte vorzugsweise ein saurer Katalysator,
wie Chlorwasserstoff, Schwefelsäure oder p-Toluolsulfonsäure,
anwesend sein. Üblicherweise wird das niedere Alkanol im großen Überschuß verwendet. G-gf« kann ein zusätzliches Lösungsmittel,
wie Heptan, Toluol, Xylol oder Chlorbenzol, anwesend sein, jedoch
ist dies nicht notwendig. Die Reaktion wird im allgemeinen bei einer Temperatur zwischen etwa 75 und 175 C, jedoch nicht
höher als die Rückflußtemperatur durchgeführt; der bevorzugte Temperaturbereich liegt zwischen 100 und 145 C· Unter diesen
Bedingungen ist die Umsetzung innerhalb 4 bis 24 Stunden praktisch
vollständig."
Wenn das Veresterungsmittel, wie oben angegeben, ein Ester eines niederen Alkanols ist', führt man das Verfahren
vorzugsweise so durch, daß man die Carbonsäure oder deren Salz mit dem betreffenden Halogenid, Sulfat oder anderem Esterderivat
in einem Lösungsmittel in Anwesenheit einer Base erwärmt. Beispiele für geeignete Lösungsmittel sind niedere Alkanole,
Tetrahydrofuran, Dioxan, Dimethylformamid und Diathylenglykoldimethyläther.
Beispiele für geeignete Basen sind Alkalihydroxid oder -carbonate, Erdalkalihydroxyde und Alkalialkoxide. Von dem
Veresterungsmittel verwendet man mindestens ein Äquivalent, vorzugsweise jedoch einen Überschuß. Die Reaktion wird üblicherweise
bei einer Temperatur zwischen 15 und 150 C, vorzugsweise bei 65 bis 135 C durchgeführt und ist unter diesen Bedingungen
innerhalb 24 Stunden praktisch vollständig» .

Wenn das Veresterungsmittel Diazomethan ist, wird das
Verfahren vorzugsweise so durchgeführt, daß man die Carbonsäure in einem inerten Lösungsmittel, wie Äther, Tetrahydrofuran, Diäthylenglykoldimethyläther oder Dioxan, mit Diazomethan behandelt. Die Umsetzung verläuft sehr rasch und ist innerhalb 5 Minuten praktisch vollständig, wenn man die. Carbonsäure bei 0 bis 25 C mit Diazomethan in äquivalenter Menge oder leichtem Überschuß behandelt.
Verfahren vorzugsweise so durchgeführt, daß man die Carbonsäure in einem inerten Lösungsmittel, wie Äther, Tetrahydrofuran, Diäthylenglykoldimethyläther oder Dioxan, mit Diazomethan behandelt. Die Umsetzung verläuft sehr rasch und ist innerhalb 5 Minuten praktisch vollständig, wenn man die. Carbonsäure bei 0 bis 25 C mit Diazomethan in äquivalenter Menge oder leichtem Überschuß behandelt.
Ferner können die erfindungsgemäßen Carbonsäuren und deren
Salze, d.h. die Verbindungen der Formel

Wasserstoff oder ein salzbildendes Kation. Beispiele für geeignete Hydrolysemittel sind: Wasser, wäßrige basische Lösungen,
wie Alkalihydroxyde, Erdalkalihydroxyde, Alkalicarbonate, Alkalialkoxide und Trialkylammoniumhydroxyde; wäßrige
Lösungen von Säuren, wie Mineralsäuren und starken organischen

Säuren sowie saure Ionenaustauscherharze. Die bevorzugten
Hydrolysemittel sind wäßrige Lösungen von Alkalihydroxyden.
Als lösungsmittel für die Umsetzung eignen sich V/asser oder wäßrige Lösungen von niederen Alkanolen, Aceton, Methyläthylketon,
Dioxan, Tetrahydrofuran, Äthylenglykol, Propylenglykol, niedere Alkyläther von Äthylenglykol oder von Diäthylenglykol.
Ein unter basischen Bedingungen bevorzugtes Lösungsmittel ist Äthylenglykolmonoäthyläther mit TO $ Wasser. Unter sauren Bedingungen
ist ein bevorzugtes Lösungsmittel Aceton mit Λ0 fo
Wasser. Man verwendet das Hydrolysemittel mindestens in der berechneten Menge, vorzugsweise im großen Überschuß. Die Zeit
und Temperatur der Reaktion sind nicht entscheidend. Üblicherweise
führt man die Hydrolyse zwischen .10 und 25O0C oder unter
Rückflußtemperatur durch und läßt sie 15 Minuten bis 96 Stunden
laufen, wobei für niederere Temperaturen längere Reaktionszeiten gelten. V/erden wäßrige Lösungen von Alkalihydroxyden
verwendet, die ggf. ein zusätzliches Lösungsmittel enthalten können, so sind die bevorzugten, Reaktionsbedingungen 80 bis
135°C über eine Periode von bis zu 18 Stunden. Das Produkt
wird durch Einstellen des betreffenden pH-Wertes entweder als freie Säure oder als Salz isoliert. '
Die erfindungsgemäßen Carbonsäuren bilden mit den verschiedensten
anorganischen und organischen Basen Carboxylatsalze. Pharmazeutisch zulässige Salze werden gebildet mit
Basen, .wie Ratriumhydroxyd, -carbonat oder —bicarbonat; Kalium«
hydroxyd, Calciumhydroxyd, Ammoniak und Aminen. Durch Behandlung
mit einer Säure können die Salze in die Carbonsäuren überführt werden. Die Carbonsäuren und ihre Salze unterscheiden
sich hinsichtlich ihrer Löslichkeitseigenschaften, sind aber
im allgemeinen sons.t gleichwertig für Zwecke der Erfindung.

Die erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen sind neuartige chemische Stoffe, die als Arzneimittel, welche den Triglyceridspiegel
im Serum herabsetzen, wertvoll sind.' Eine wichtige Eigenschaft der Verbindung/ist, daß sie den Gehalt an Triglyceriden
im Serum herabsetzen, ohne gleichzeitig eine Herabsetzung des Cholesterinspiegels im Serum zu verursachen. Ihre Wirksamkeit
bei der Verringerung der Serumtriglyceride kann durch Standardmethoden nachgewiesen werden. Hierbei hält man beispielsweise
männliche Ratten mit einem Gewicht von 200 bis 250 g auf einer
" normalen Pillendiät. In der zu behandelnden Gruppe wird jedem
Tier 7 Tage lang täglich eine orale Dosis von 250 mg/kg Körpergewicht
der zu prüfenden Verbindung,verabreicht. Daneben hält
man eine unbehandelte Kontrollgruppe. Nach 7 Tagen werden die Tiere gewogen und abgetötet, und in Blutproben aus der Vena
Cava werden das Serumcholesterin und die Serumtriglyceride bestimmt.
Die angewandten Methoden sind beschrieben in "Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine", 50, 318 (1957) und "Journal
of Laboratory and Clinical ,Medicine", 50, 152 (1957). Es
wird angenommen, daß die Testverbindung eine Nebenwirkung aufweist, wenn das Gewicht der Tiere in der Behandlungsgruppe
wesentlich geringer ist als in der Versuchsgruppe. Bei einer repräsentativen Bestimmung führte die 7 Tage lange Verabreichung
von täglich 250 mg/kg 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure zu einer 76 ^isien Verringerung der Serumtriglyceride
relativ b» zur unbehandelten Kontrollgruppe, wobei keine Wirkung
auf das Serumcholesterin oder das Gewicht der Tiere zu beobachten war. Unter den gleichen Bedingungen führte der
Äthylester dieser Säure ebenfalls zu einer 76 folgen Reduktion der.Serumtriglyceride, ohne Wirkung auf das Serumcholesterin
oder das Gewicht der Tiere. Diese Resultate'sind typisch für
die bei den verschiedensten erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen zu beobachtenden. Geringere Wirkung auf Serumtriglyceride treten

auf, wenn man die orale Dosis von täglich 250 mg/kg verringert. Die Verbindungen können ggf. auch über'den parenteralen Weg
verabreicht werden.
Unter den erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen sind einige bevorzugt, da sie schon in geringer Dosis eine wesentliche Herabsetzung
des Serumtriglyceridspiegels bewirken. So ergab beispielsweise 2,2-Dimethyl-5-(2,5-xylyloxy)väleriansäure innerhalb
7 Tagen bei täglich 7,5 mg/kg bereits eine 34 #ige Verringerung der Serumtriglyceride ohne Beeinflussung des Serumeholesterins
oder des Gewichtes der Tiere. In ähnlicher Weise ergab 2,2-Dimethyl-5-(3j5-xylyloxy)valeriansäure innerhalb
7 Tagen bei täglich 7?5 mg/kg eine 38 $ige Verminderung der
Serumtriglyceride ohne Einfluß auf Serumcholesterin und Körpergewicht.
Allgemein sind die Verbindungen mit zwei' Substituenten am Phenylring der Aryloxygruppe erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt.
Die Beispiele dienen zur näheren Erläuterung der Erfindung.
.Unter Rühren und Außenkühlung, iam die Temperatur unter
100G zu halten, fügt man zu einer lösung von 4-1 g Diisopropylamin
und 250 ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran unter Stickstoff 250 ml einer 1,6n Lösung von n-Butyllithium in Heptan zu. Das
Gemisch enthält Lithiumdiisopropylamid. Nach 10 min wird eine lösung von 17,6 g Isobuttersäure in 25 ml Tetrahydrofuran zugegeben
und das Reaktionsgemisch weitere 10 min bei 0 und dann noch 30 min bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Es wird dann wieder
auf 0° gekühlt und mit einer Lösung von 43»0 g 3-Phenoxypropylbromid
in 50 ml Tetrahydrofuran behandelt, wobei die Temperatur
unterhalb 100C gehalten wird. Nach 15 min läßt man ,das Gemisch
sich auf Raumtemperatur anwärmen und rührt noch 16 h weiter«

Danach wird das Gemisch mit 500 ml Y/asser hydrolysiert und die wäßrige Phase abgetrennt, mit 200 ml Äther gewaschen und
mit 70 ml 6n Schwefelsäure angesäuert, so daß man ein unlösliches
Produkt, nämlich 2,2-Dimethyl-5—phenoxyvaleriansäure
erhält. Zur Reinigung wird das Produkt in Äther gelöst und die Ätherlösung mit Wasser gewaschen, über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet und eingedampft. Das aus Isooctan umkristallisierte
Produkt schmilzt bei 73-750C.
* Man arbeitet wie oben, verwendet jedoch anstelle der
Isobuttersäure 23,2 g Äthylisobutyrat und halbiert die Mengen an Diisopropylamin und n-Butyllithium. Unmittelbar nach der
Behandlung des Reaktionsgemisches mit 500 ml Wasser, wie oben beschrieben, wird die organische Phase abgetrennt, mit Wasser
gewaschen,' getrocknet und eingedampft. Man erhält Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-5-phenoxyvalerat;
Kp. 109-111 bei 0,5 mm Hg.
Eine Lösung von 2,22 g 2,2-i)imethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure
in 10 ml heißem Äthanol wird mit 10 ml 1n wäßriger Natronlauge behandelt. Beim Eindampfen der Lösung erhält man
als Rückstand das Natriumsalz der 2,'2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure.
2,45 g dieses Salzes werden in 50 ml Methanol gelöst und eine Lösung von 1,4 g Cholinchlorid in 10 ml Äthanol
zugegeben. Nach Ablauf 1 h wird das unlösliche Natriumchlorid abfiltriert und das Filtrat zur Trockene eingedampft;
man erhält als Rückstand das Cholinsalz der 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure.

Das Kalium-, Ammonium- und Äthylaminsalz werden erhalten
durch Umsetzung der 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure mit Natriumhydroxyd bzw.- Ammoniak bzw. .Äthylamin. '

Beispiel 2 .
-Man arbeitet nach Beispiel 1, wobei jedoch das 3-Phenoxypropylbromid
in Tetrahydrofuran ersetzt wird durch 45,8 g 4-Phenoxybutylbromid in 100 ml Tetrahydrofuran. Man erhält dann
2,2-Dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexansäure; Pp. 106-107,5°C nach Umkristallisieren
aus Acetonitril.
• Zu einer lösung von 1,05 g Diäthanolamin in 20 ml Aceton
fügt man 2,36 g 2,2-Dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexansäure in 30 ml
Aceton hinzu. Das Gemisch wird 10 min gerührt, mit 30 ml Petroläther
verdünnt und stehengelassen. Es scheidet sich das unlösliche Diäthanolaminsalz der 2,2-Dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexansäure
aus.
Man arbeitet nach Beispiel 1, ersetzt jedoch das 3-Phenoxypropylbromid
durch 48,6 g 5-Phenoxypentylbromid. Man erhält dann 2,2-Dimethyl-7-phenoxyheptansäure; Pp. 83-84,5°C
nach Umkristallisieren aus Acetonitril.
Man arbeitet nach Beispiel 1, ersetzt jedoch das 3-Phenoxypropylbromid
durch 51,4 g 6-Phenoxyhexylbromid. Man erhält
dann 2,2—Dimethyl-8-phenoxyoctansäi

Ein Gemisch aus 22,2 g 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure,
13,5 g absolutem Äthanol, 1,0 g p-Toluolsulfonsäuremonohydrat
und 125 ml Toluol wird 5 h-unter'Rückfluß gehalten,
wobei kontinuierlich das bei der Reaktion g-ebildete 7/asser abgezogen
wird. Sas Gemisch wird gekühlt, mit 100 ml 2n Natron-

lauge verrührt und mit Äther extrahiert. Die Ätherphase wird
mit Wasser gewaschen und getrocknet und ergibt nach Einengen einen Rückstand' von Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-5-phenoxyvalerat;
Kp.. 109-111°C bei 0,'5 mm Hg.
Ein Gemisch aus 22,2 g 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure,
22 g 1—Butanol, 1,5 g p-Toluolsulfonsäuremonohydrat

wird gekühlt, mit Äther verdünnt und mit 10 $iger Natriumcarbonatlösung und daraufhin·mit Wasser gewaschen. Die
organische Phase wird über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet und gibt beim Eindampfen zur Trockene einen Rückstand von Butyl-2,2-äimethyl-5-phenoxyvalerat;Kp.
124-126 C bei 0,4 mm Hg.
Ersetzt man die 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure durch 2,2-Dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexansäure und das 1-Butanol durch
1-Hexanol, so erhält man Hexyl-2f2-dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexanoat.
Ersetzt man die 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure durch 2,2-Dimethyl—6-phenoxyhexansäure und das 1—Butanol durch Äthanol,
so erhält man Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexanoat; Kp. 119-1210C bei 0,5 mm Hg.
Eine Lösung von 2,5 g Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-5-phenoxyvalerat,
10 ml 1n Natronlauge und 35 ml Äthylenglykolmonoäthyläther
mit 10 io Wasser wird 16 h unter Rückfluß gehalten und dann
unter vermindertem Druck auf ein kleines Volumen eingeengt, mit Wasser verdünnt und mit Äther gewaschen. Die wäßrige Phase

'wird mit verdünnter Salzsäure angesäuert und mit. Äther extrahiert»
Die Ätherextrakte werden mit Wasser gewaschen und getrocknet und ergeben "beim Eindampfen einen Rückstand von
2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenoxyvaleriansäure; Jp. 73-75°C nach Umkristallisieren
aus Isooctan.
Ersetzt man das Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-5-phenoxyvalerat durch 2,6 g Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexanoat·· oder 3,2· g Hexyl-2,2-dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexanoat,
so erhält man 2,2-Dimethyl-6-phenoxyhexansäure; Fp. 106-107,5°C nach Umkristallisieren aus
Acetonitril. .
Beispiel 8 "'
Zu einem Gemisch aus 51,0 g Diisopropylamin, 23,2 g einer
57 folgen Dispeuion von Natriumhydrid in Mineralöl und 350 ml
Tetrahydrofuran fügt man unter Rühren.44,1 g Isobuttersäure zu. Wenn die Gasentwicklung nachläßt, wird das Gemisch 15 min
unter Rückfluß' gehalten, auf O0C. gekühlt und mit 345 ml einer
1,45m-Lösung von n-Butyllithium in Heptan behandelt. Fach 5 h
wird das Gemisch 1/2 h auf 30 erwärmt, wieder auf 0 gekühlt und mit 122,0 g 3—(2,5-Xylyloxy)propylbrpmid behandelt. Nach
einer weiteren Stunde wird es mit 500 ml Wasser verrührt und die wäßrige Phase abgetrennt und mit 150 ml 6n Salzsäure angesäuert.
Das saure Gemisch wird .mit Äther extrahiert und der Ätherextrakt mit gesättigter Natriumchloridlösung gewaschen,
über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet, annähernd zur Trockene eingedampft
und im Vakuum destillierte Man erhält als Destillat 2,2-Dimethyl-5~(2,5-xylyloxy)valeriansäure vom Kp. T58-159°C
bei 0,02 mm Hg; Pp. 61-63°C nach Umkristallisieren aus Hexan.
Ersetzt man das Natriumhydrid durch 4,4 g lithiumhydrid,
so erhält man das gleiche Produkt.

Ebenfalls das gleiche Produkt erhält auf folgende Weise:
Ein Gemisch aus 26,4 gjlsobuttersäur*e, 6,0 g Magnesiumoxidpulver
und 250 ml Toluol wird gerührt und unter Rückfluß erhitzt, wobei man kontinuierlich das gebildete Wasser abzieht. Wenn
die Wasserbildung aufhört, wird das G-emisch, das Magnesiumisobutyrat
enthält, auf die Hälfte seines ursprünglichen Volumens eingeengt, in einem Eisbad gekühlt und mit 31»0 g Diisopropylamin
in 200 ml trockenem Tetrahydrofuran und daraufhin mit 179 ml 1,68m n-Butyllithium in Heptan behandelt, wobei die
Temperatur unter 10 C gehalten wird. Nach 15 min wird das Gemisch
1/2 h auf 30° gehalten, dann wieder auf 0-10° gekühlt und mit 75>0 g 3-(2,5-Xylyloxy)propy.lbromid behandelt. Das Gemisch
wird dann 18 h bei Raumtemperatur gerührt und mit 125 ml 6n Salzsäure und 250 ml V/asser verdünnt. Die organische Phase
wird abgetrennt, eingeengt und der Rückstand destilliert; man erhält 2,2-Dimethyl-5-(2,5-xylyloxy)valeriansäure.
Ersetzt man das oben verwendete 3-(2,5-Xylyloxy)propylbromid durch andere Aryloxyalkylhalogenide, so erhält man folgende
Produkte:
Mit 3-(Carvacryloxy)propylbromid die 5-(Carvacryloxy)-2,2-dimethylvaleriansäure;
Kp. 152-154 C bei 0,02 mm Hg;
mit 3-(2-tert.-Butyl-5-methylphenoxy)propylchlorid die 5-/~(6-tert.-Butyl-m-tolyl)oxy_7-2,2-dimethylvaleriansäure;
Fp. 87-89°C nach Umkristallisieren aus Acetonitril;
mit 3-(2,5-di-tert.-Butylphenoxy)propylchlorid die 5-(2,5-di-tert.-Butylphenoxy)-2,2-dimethylvaleriansäure;
Fp. 121-1230C nach' Umkristallisieren aus Acetonitril;

mit 6-(2,5-Dichlorphenoxy)hexylbromid die 8-(2,5-Dichlorphenoxy)-2,2-dimethyloctansäure;

Arbeitet man nach Beispiel 1, ersetzt jedoch das 3-Phenoxypropylbromid
durch eine äquivalente Menge eines anderen Aryloxyalkylhalogenids, so erhält man die folgenden Produkte;
Mit 3-(3,5-di-tert.-Butylphenoxy)propylchlorid die 5-(315-di-tert.-Butylphenoxy)-2,2-dimethylvaleriansäure;

Zu einer Lösung von 31,Og Diisopropylamin in 300 ml
wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran werden unter Rühren 33,0 g trokkenes Natriumisobutyrat (hergestellt aus Xsobuttersäure und
Natriumhydroxyd) zugegeben. Man kühlt äußerlich, um die Temperatur unter 10° zu halten und fügt 217 ml einer 1,45m-Lösung
n-Butyllithium in Heptan zu. Das Gemisch wird dann 1/2 h bei 30° gerührt und mit 75,0 g 3-(3,5-Xylyloxy)propylbromid,
gelöst in Tetrahydrofuran, behandelt. Nach 15 min läßt man die Temperatur auf Raumtemperatur ansteigen und rührt
noch 16 h weiter. Das Gemisch wird dann mit 500 ml Wasser hydrolysiert und die wäßrige Phase abgetrennt, mit 200 ml
Äther gewaschen und mit 6n Schwefelsäure angesäuert; man erhält 2,2-Dimethyl-5-(3»5-xylyloxy)valeransäure als unlösliches
Produkt. Zwecks Reinigung wird das Produkt in Äther gelöst und die Ätherlösung mit Wasser gewaschen, überMagnesiumsulfat
getrocknet und eingedampft. Nach Umkristallisieren aus Hexan schmilzt die Säure bei 92-93°C.
Ein Gemisch aus 24,3 g 2,2-Dimethyl-5-(3,5-xylyloxy)-valeriansäure,
13,5 g absolutem Äthanol, 1,0 g p-Toluolsulfonsäuremonohydrat
und 125 ml Toluol wird 5 h unter Rückfluß gehalten, wobei das gebildete Wasser kontinuierlich abgezogen
wird. Das Gemisch wird gekühlt, mit 2n Natronlauge basisch gemacht und mit Äther extrahiert. Die Ätherphase wird mit Wasser
gewaschen und getrocknet und ergibt beim Eindampfen einen Rückstand von Äthyl-2,2-dimethyl-5->(3,5-xylyloxy)valerat;
Kp. 123-124°C bei 0r5 mm Hg. '

Zu einer Aufschlämmung von 12 g Natriumhydrid in 300 ml
.Tetrahydrofuran fügt man unter Rühren 75 g Garvacrol zu. Nach Aufhören der Gasentwicklung wird das Gemisch im Eisbad gekühlt
und mit 95 g i-Brom-3-chlorpropan versetzt, 16 h auf 50 C erwärmt
und dann mit 500 ml Wasser verrührt. Die organische Phase wird mit 2n natronlauge und dann mit gesättigter Natrium-chloridlösung
gewaschen, getrocknet, eingeengt und im Vakuum destilliert. Im Destillat erhält man 3-(Carvacryloxy)propylbromid;
Kp. 85-100°C bei 0,5 mm Hg.
Ein Gemisch aus 14,4 g Natrium-hydrid in 300 ml'Dimethylformamid
wird tropfenweise mit einer lösung von 98,5 g 2—tert.-Butyl-5-methylphenol in 100 ml Dimethylformamid behandelt,
während die Reaktionstemperatur unterhalb 35 0 gehalten wird. Nach 16-stündigem Rühren wird das Gemisch mit 91f5 g
i-Brom-3-chlorpropan bei einer Temperatur unter 35 0 behandelt.
Das Rühren wird noch 22 h fortg-esetzt, worauf das Gemisch mit
Wasser verdünnt und mit Äther extrahiert wird. Der Itherextrakt wird mit Wasser gewaschen, über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet und
im Vakuum eingeengt. Der Rückstand wird in Hexan gelöst und die Lösung" mit 10 $iger Natronlauge und mit Wasser gewaschen,
getrocknet, eingeengt und im Vakuum destilliert. Man erhält als Destillat 3-(2-tert.-Butyl-5-methylphenoxy)propylchlorid;
Kp 82-93°0 bei 0,05 mm Hg.
Aus dem entsprechenden Phenol und i-Brom-3-chlorpropan
erhält man folgende Verbindungen: 3-(2,5-Di-tert.-butylphenoxy)-propylchlorid;
Kp. 100-1120C bei 0,05 mm Hg} 3-(3,5-Di-tert.- ■
butylphenoxy)propylchlorid; Kp. 125-133°C bei 0,04 Hg.

Ein Gemisch aus 30,6 g 2-Methyl-5-chlorphenol und 47,3 g 1-Brom-3-chlorpropan wird bei 100°C· gerührt und-tropfenweise
eine Lösung von 8,6 g Natriumhydroxyd in 134 ml Wasser zugesetzt. Das Gemisch wird 16 h unter Rückfluß gehalten, gekühlt
und mit Hexan verdünnt. Die organische Phase wird abgetrennt, mit 10 $iger Natronlauge und Wasser gewaschen, über Magnesiumsulfat
getrocknet, eingeengt und im Vakuum destilliert. Als Destillat erhält man 3-/~(5-Chlor-o-tolyl)oxy_7ProPylcnl°rid>
Kp. 181-1860C bei 10,0 min Hg.
Setzt man das entsprechende Phenol mit einem oC't ω-Dibromalkan
um, so erhält man die folgenden Verbindungen j 3-(3,5-Dichlorphenoxy)propylbromid; Kp. 1300C "bei 0,35 mm Hg;
4-(2,5-Xylyloxy)butylbromid; Kp. 95-1260C bei 2,0 mm Hg;
5-(2,5-Xylyloxy)pentylbromid; Kp. 106-1120C bei 1,5 mm Hg;
6-(2,5-Xylyloxy)hexylbromid; Kp. 121-123°C bei 1,5 mm Hg;
6-(2,5-Dichlorphenoxy)hexylbromid; Kp. 140-155°C bei 0,15 mm Hgo
