背景技术
喷墨打印机是一种采用墨滴喷射器件的装置。在一种类型的喷墨打印机中,从与正在打印的衬底的行进方向垂直定向的多个线性喷墨打印头器件传递墨滴。每个打印头器件包括在上表面定义了多个泵浦腔(对每个单个墨滴喷射器件一个)的单片电路主体中形成的多个墨滴喷射器件,并且具有覆盖每个泵浦腔的平的压电致动器。每个单个的墨滴喷射器件由电压脉冲致动到压电致动器,其扭曲压电致动器的形状,并且与衬底移过打印头器件同步,在期望的时间射出墨滴。

发明内容

具体实施方式
如图1所示,打印头12的128个各个墨滴喷射器件10(在图1上仅仅示出了一个)由在电源线14和15上提供的恒压驱动,并且由板上控制电路系统19分配以控制各个墨滴喷射器件10的点火。外部控制器20供应在线14和15上的电压,并且提供在附加线16上的控制数据和逻辑电源以及定时给板上控制电路系统19。由各个喷射器件10所喷射的墨可以被传递以在衬底18上形成打印线17,该衬底18在打印头12下面移动。当衬底18被示出以单通过模式移过固定打印头12时,可替换地,打印头12也可以扫描模式移过衬底18移动。

在正常打印模式下的操作中,各个墨滴喷射器件10可以被校准以便对每个器件10确定适合的用于脉冲64、66的定时,使得每个器件将按所期望的体积和所期望的速度喷射墨滴,并且将该信息用来编程FPGA 80。只要适当的定时已经被确定,该操作也可以在不校准的情况下采用。接着指定打印任务的数据在数据输入72的D0端被串行发送,并被用来控制在FPGA中的逻辑,以便在每个打印周期触发脉冲64、66,在该打印周期,特定器件被指定在打印任务中打印。
在灰阶打印模式中,或者在采用逐滴变化的操作中,设置用于每个器件10的定时的信息在每个打印周期的开始在数据输入70的全部8个端子D0-D7上传递,使得每个器件在该打印周期期间将具有所期望的墨滴体积。
FPGA 80还可以接收定时信息并且被控制来提供电压的所谓初始器(tickler)脉冲,其对喷射墨滴是不充足的,但是足以移动弯月面(meniscus)并且防止它在不经常被点火的各个喷射器件上干燥。
FPGA 80还可以接收定时信息并且被控制来喷射噪音(noise)到墨滴喷射信息中,以便中断(break up)可能的打印图案(pattern)和条带(banding)。
FPGA 80还可以接收定时信息并且被控制来变化所述幅度(即,Vpzt_finish)以及宽度(在充电和放电脉冲64、66之间的时间)以便在工作期间相对于后继的墨滴达到例如对来自喷射器件10的第一墨滴的速度和体积。
两个电阻器52、56的使用,一个用于充电,一个用于放电,允许一个独立地控制压电致动器38上的电压的斜线上升和下降的斜率。或者,开关50、54的输出可结合在一起并且连接到连接于压电致动器38的公共电阻器,或者被连接在一起的输出可被直接连接到致动器38本身,在其他情形与致动器38串联提供电阻。
通过充电达到期望的电压(Vpzt_finish)并且通过断开源电压Xvdc和依赖于致动器的电容维持压电致动器38上的电压,与在点火脉冲的长度期间如果致动器被保持在所述电压(其会是Xvdc)则会使用的相比,打印头使用更少电力。
本发明的其它实施例在权利要求的范围内。例如开关和电阻器可以用被接通和断开的电流源替代。而且,公共电路系统(例如,开关和电阻器)可被用来驱动多个墨滴喷射器件。而且,驱动脉冲参数可作为墨滴喷射的频率的函数变化,以便减少作为频率的函数的墨滴体积的变化。而且,第三开关可与每个泵浦腔相关联并且被控制来连接压电致动器38的电极到地,例如,当不被点火时,而第二开关被用来连接压电致动器38的电极到低于地的电压,以便加速放电。
创建更复杂的波形也是可能的。例如,开关50可被闭合以便将电压升到V1,接着在一时间段被打开,以便保持该电压,接着又闭合以便升高到电压V2。复杂的波形可由开关50和开关54的适当的闭合来创建。
多个电阻器、电压和开关可以按墨滴喷射器件来使用,以便得到如图6和7所示的不同的转换速率(slew rate)。图6示出了用于注入器件的替代的控制电路100,其中,多个(这里是两个)充电控制开关102、104和相关联的充电电阻器106、108被用来对压电致动器的电容110充电,并且多个(这里是两个)放电控制开关112、114和相关联的放电电阻器116、118被用来对所述电容放电。图7示出了在所述电容上充电得到的电压。通过让开关102闭合而让其它开关断开使得以120斜线上升。通过让开关104闭合而让其它开关断开使得以122斜线上升。通过让开关112闭合而让其它开关断开使得以124斜线下降。通过让开关114闭合而让其它开关断开使得以126斜线下降。
Claims (35)
1.一种设备,包括:
改变墨滴喷射器件的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,使用选择的充电电阻器施加充电电压,以便以第一速率对所述电容充电,然后在对所述电容放电前以第二速率对所述电容充电。
2.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述元件包括电致动位移器件。
3.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中向不同的充电电阻器施加不同的充电电压。
4.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括充电控制开关,每个与所述充电电阻器中的一个相关联,每个充电控制开关确定在所述电容和通过各自的充电电阻器的所述各自充电电压之间的连接状态。
5.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中在以第一速率充电之后和以第二速率充电之前的一段时间内,所述控制电路将电荷保持在所述电容中。
6.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述电致动位移器件包括压电致动器。
7.一种设备,包括:
改变墨滴喷射器件的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,使用选择的放电电阻器施加放电电压,以便以第一速率对所述电容放电,然后在对所述电容充电前以第二速率对所述电容放电。
8.如权利要求7所述的设备,其中向不同的放电电阻器施加不同的放电电压。
9.如权利要求7所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括放电控制开关,每个与所述放电电阻器中的一个相关联,每个放电控制开关确定在所述电容和通过所述各自放电电阻器的所述各自放电电压之间的连接状态。
10.如权利要求7所述的设备,其中在以第一速率放电之后和以第二速率放电之前的一段时间内,所述控制电路将电荷保持在所述电容中。
11.如权利要求7所述的设备,其中所述放电电压包括地电压。
12.一种设备,包括:
电致动位移元件,用于改变墨滴喷射器件的液体腔的容积,该元件具有电容;以及
电路,用于选择性地使恒定电流信号对所述电容充电。
13.如权利要求12所述的设备,其中所述电路包括控制开关,用于控制将所述恒定电流信号连接至所述电致动位移元件,或将所述恒定电流信号从所述电致动位移元件断开,当所述控制开关将所述恒定电流信号连接至所述电致动位移器件时,所述恒定电流信号对所述电致动位移器件的电容充电。
14.一种设备,包括:
墨滴喷射器件,每个包括用于改变墨滴喷射器件中的一个的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
电路,通过在各自元件上提供电荷,将噪声注入被打印的图像,以减少条带。
15.如权利要求14所述的设备,其中所述元件包括电致动位移器件。
16.如权利要求14所述的设备,其中所述电路包括充电控制开关,用于将充电电压或充电电流连接至各自的元件或从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容充电。
17.如权利要求14所述的设备,其中所述电路将噪声注入被打印的图像,以分解可能的打印图案。
18.一种设备,包括:
墨滴喷射器件,每个包括用于改变墨滴喷射器件中的一个的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,用于通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自充电电压或充电电流,以单独地控制每个容积改变元件上的电荷,来实现从所述墨滴喷射器件的至少两个中喷射的墨滴的均匀速度。
19.如权利要求18所述的设备,其中所述控制电路还通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自放电电压或放电电流来实现均匀的墨滴速度。
20.如权利要求19所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括放电控制开关,用于将放电电压或放电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容放电。
21.如权利要求18所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括充电控制开关,用于将充电电压或充电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容充电。
22.如权利要求18所述的设备,其中所述容积改变元件包括电致动位移器件。
23.一种设备,包括:
墨滴喷射器件,每个包括用于改变所述墨滴喷射器件中的一个的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,用于通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自的充电电压或充电电流,从不同的墨滴喷射器件实现预定的不同滴墨速度,以便提供灰度控制。
24.如权利要求23所述的设备,其中所述控制电路还通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自的放电电压或放电电流,从不同的墨滴喷射器件实现预定的不同滴墨速度。
25.如权利要求24所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括放电控制开关,用于将放电电压或放电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容放电。
26.如权利要求23所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括充电控制开关,用于将充电电压或充电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容充电。
27.如权利要求23所述的设备,其中所述容积改变元件包括电致动位移器件。
28.一种设备,包括:
墨滴喷射器件,包括用于改变所述墨滴喷射器件的液体腔的容积的元件,该元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,用于通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自的充电电压、充电电流、放电电压或放电电流,对出自所述墨滴喷射器件的第一墨滴,改变对容积改变元件的充电幅度以及充电时间的长度,以匹配后续的墨滴。
29.如权利要求28所述的设备,其中所述容积改变元件包括电致动位移器件。
30.如权利要求28所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括充电控制开关,用于将充电电压或充电电流连接至所述元件或将它们从所述元件断开,以对所述电容充电。
31.如权利要求28所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括放电控制开关,用于将放电电压或放电电流连接至所述元件,或将它们从所述元件断开,以对所述电容放电。
32.一种设备,包括:
墨滴喷射器件,每个包括用于改变所述墨滴喷射器件中的一个的液体腔的容积的元件,所述元件具有电容;以及
控制电路,用于通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自的充电电压或充电电流,作为墨滴喷射频率的函数来控制所述容积改变元件中的每个的电容的充电,以减少作为所述频率的函数的滴墨容积的变化。
33.如权利要求32所述的设备,其中所述控制电路还通过向所述容积改变元件提供各自的放电电压或放电电流,作为墨滴喷射频率的函数来控制所述容积改变元件的充电,以减少作为所述频率的函数的滴墨容积的变化。
34.如权利要求33所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括放电控制开关,用于将放电电压或放电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容放电。
35.如权利要求32所述的设备,其中所述控制电路包括充电控制开关,用于将充电电压或充电电流连接至各自元件或将它们从所述各自元件断开,以对所述各自电容充电。
